went to have lunch, drove 30 minutes only to be turned away 15 minutes before the Time Stated on their website and listings that they close. The hostess gave an insincere " sorry" and the Managent was Pleasant enough but very Robotic when I told her I got turned away. Won't be going back, food is overpriced anyway. read more

AMAZING! Everything about our experience was perfect. While traveling back to Austin we had a pleasant surprise when we spent the night in Snyder, Texas. We were greeted by a lovely hostess at the front door. We sat at the bar was served by some of the happiest employees in a restaurant we've ever seen. We were able to see the chefs preparing meals in the kitchen while seated at the bar. Some of the happiest employees we've ever seen. They were proud of their preparation and the waitresses were proud to serve it to customers. Our meal was served to perfection. Our experience and the food was so amazing we ordered three additional appetizers to go to complete our road trip back to Austin. We look forward to returning to Snyder and having another meal. read more

The word is amazing. Unexpected. We got it recommended from the Buffalo bar around the corner. Thank god we did. Best decision on our drive up to lubbock. The parking lot is pretty dark so it's hard to tell apart from the night. But go out of your way to find it. It's a gem. The venue and space are well decorated, very big from within. But let's get to it. The food was astonishing and just to die for. This cook is a true chef. Potato wrapped salmon was my dish, I haven't had a dish that good in years. Well sauced and mixed with veggies. My family had the bone in pork chop sautéed with apple cider I believe, very tender and not dry at all! And lastly the ribeye was fresh, no frozen meat and you can tell the difference. Tender and we'll cooked to medium and with a side of asparagus and fries all cooked differently for each dish. My husband and I stopped in for dinner after attending the Western Swing Festival in town. We were seated quickly and placed our orders without incident. I ordered the ribeye with loaded baked potato and it was to be served with asparagus and a salad. My husband got the chicken fried steak served with fries and ordered a side salad. We also ordered an appetizer of fried calamari. It was down hill from there. The calamari was a calamari steak cut into strips and breaded in cornmeal. It was completely and totally bland although well fried. The breading wasn't seasoned at all. The menu stated it came with siracha marinara but it was served with ranch. The ranch just didn't go with the calamari. We asked for the marinara and our server was very confused. We ended up with marinara and cocktail sauce. The cocktail sauce was weirdly bitter. The marinara was too strongly seasoned with dry herbs. Next we were served our entree's. No salad. The steak was served with two small pieces of asparagus. Why even bother? The potato was ordered loaded and was served with three little cups of shredded cheese, hard unspreadable butter and sour cream. No bacon? Or chives? The potato wasn't cooked through. The steak wasn't seasoned at all. I added salt at the table. The chicken fried steak and gravy were good. Also needed salt. The French fries were disgustingly greasy and not hardly fried (see pic); basically inedible. Our salads arrived and were good courtesy of the dressing. Salads were uninspired (hot house tomato slices, lettuce, dressing) but honestly the best thing we ate. We asked if we could please sit in the corner booth. There were no one sitting in either booth in each side. I was in town for the night and googled near by restaurants. I decided on The Butcher's and the food was amazing. I ordered the lettuce wedge salad and it was the best I've eaten. I found this place by using Yelp, while in town to just look around. Kendra was my waitress and very nice. I got here just after 12:30 on a Saturday and it was busy but not packed. The lighting is a little too dark for me but provides a good ambiance for some. I ordered a 6oz sirloin with spicy ranch potatoes and asparagus. I ordered my steak medium. Very nice ambience, good service, food not so good. I ordered Catfish & Shrimp. It comes with Hush Puppies, Shrimp, Catfish & Coleslaw. The Hush Puppies & Shrimp taste the same, Shrimp was heavily battered and over cooked. The Catfish was cut in little pieces, looked and taste like fried clams, kind of rubbery. Coleslaw generally is mayonnaise or vinegar based, this was neither. It was very dry and had bad after taste. My wife though for sure something had gone bad in it. We were told it was fresh and was supposed to taste that way. We enjoyed the best dinner tonight at The Butcher's Block in Snyder,Texas. The salad was fresh and cold and the bread was warm with the best crust! I had a superb margarita...delicious!! My husband loved his perfectly cooked steak, grilled shrimp and asparagus. My shrimp-stuffed bakes potato with asparagus was also wonderful. Ok so first the waitress Melinda was great good service all around. However if u are a steakhouse please use quality meat and learn how to cook it!! Ordered med rare came out burnt (not seared) on the outside and super rare cold center. NY strip is my favorite cut but this one was super tough and several gristle lines thru it. I sent it back and they actually took the steak off my plate and back to the kitchen to continue to burn the heck out of the outside. Daughter had the ribeye and same issue but didn't send it back. Again if you are a steak house especially in Texas learn how to cook a steak!! The process is called searing not burning the outside to a black crispy mess!! At this point I gave up! Medium well should never be raw and cold on the inside and almost burnt on the outside especially on a wait of 40 minutes. Then gave up on the steak and tried the chicken parmesan. Received it black burnt on the outside spoke to the waitress she returned it and brought out a grilled chicken breast with parmesan cheese sprinkles on top. Our waiter was phenomenal. We went for my husband's 21st birthday. The waiter bought him a drink. He was an exceptional person. He made sure everything was great. We didn't have to wait for refills. We had a larger party of 4 adults, 1 kid, and 1 toddler. The waiter was very kind to the children. The steaks were AMAZING. The cheese curds... don't get me started on those! (AMAZING as well). I think this is my first 5 star. I must say the only thing is that when you drive up it seems like your going to a speak easy. No windows in the building and wooden doors. A little spooky walking up. Do not let that stop you. I was treated with a smile and seated promptly. My server was quick on the draw. Brought my drink and gave me ample time to review the menu. I ordered the ribeye med rare. The order came in reasonable time and My steak was cooked perfectly. With the steak I had a perfectly baked potato. Server checked on me several times to make sure everything was good. Really wanted to give 5 stars but just couldn't. I got the rib eye steak, baked tator and side salad with blue cheese added to it. They cooked almost everything perfect. My only issue was that they did not wash the skin of the potato very well and I like to eat the skin on my baked potatoes; having grit in the skin is just plain yucky!!! Other than that, it was a fantastic meal. I have an app on my phone that measures noise in decibels and this place at 7PM was above 80 db, so be warned it is noisy. I'm a Californian girl, and I've had my share of 5-star steak from Houston and Ruth Chris.. But this steak could easily be on my top favorites so far. We stopped at this place as we were passing through town, and were very pleasantly surprised. Butcher's Block can rightly boast fantastic atmosphere and decor, coupled with very friendly and helpful staff. The food was excellent and plentiful. Our family of six had the fried cheddar cheese appetizer ("Fried Curds", or something like that), a grilled cheese, fish sticks, a mountainous BLT, and the Texas Dip sandwich, all with lots of really great home style french fries. The food really was top-notch. Everything was great until we got the bill. As it turns out, they charge an automatic "gratuity" of something like 18% for parties of six or more. I have experienced this at other restaurants for parties of eight, but imposing this on a party of six was a new one for me. My wife had noticed the disclaimer regarding this on the menu; I had not. This may just be a pet peeve of mine, but I am always irked by the imposition of a mandatory "gratuity" based on party size. It is not gratuity. It is not a tip. Restauranteurs, at least be honest and call it what it is: a large-party surcharge. In summation, this is a great restaurant and I highly recommend it. Just know that if you are in a party of six or larger, your meal will automatically cost you almost 20% more. read more
