I live right across the street from The Butchery, so I go there a couple times a month. Overall, it's a decent place, but not somewhere I'd regularly go for full grocery shopping. The prices are definitely on the higher side, which makes it feel more like a specialty shop than a typical grocery store. That said, they do have a really wide selection of meats and cheeses, which is probably their biggest strength. If you're looking for something specific or higher quality, it's a good place to check out. The store itself is smaller than a regular grocery store. One thing that stood out to me was an experience close to closing time--about 10 minutes before they closed, the cashier kept reminding us how little time was left and even told a story about someone coming in right before closing. It felt a bit rushed and slightly uncomfortable. Overall, it's an okay place--good for specialty items, but a bit expensive and not ideal for everyday shopping. read more

This has been my go to place for years for meats. This week I wanted to grill the first steak of the year as weekend weather was sunny. I picked up a ribeye which was fairly priced but not inexpensive. I was very disappointed. While it was well marbled it lacked any flavor. I don't know if this is just the beef available today. But certainly wasn't worth the price. Not a reflection on the Butchery more on the state of what has happened for no apparent reason since the pandemic. Pay tons more for a lot less! read more

terrible steak, big giant tendon in the middle of my sirloin, was chewing on the same peice for 45 min. I didnt cut it wrong there was a big giant white tendon that the butcher clearly missed. terrible steak, terrible experience. read more

Everything is amazing there steak dips, sausage, chicken, and a lot of side dishes they also have beer in wine a lot selections the pork is good. Also, they have a lot of different kind of deli meat ribs everything barbecue roadhouse in Cajun seasoning. read more

Wow, meat is getting expensive! Stopped in to grab something for dinner, some (limited) nice looking produce. A small deli, great selection of pre packaged chicken, wings to whole birds, turkey tips, lamb, beef and pork! Then a bunch of oven ready heat and eat type stuff. Good beer and wine selection and even some groceries.. I nabbed some really nice burgers pre made fresh vacuum sealed. They were delicious! Was super excited to come in here. I'm from the west coast and we love a cut called tri-tip there. I walked in and proceeded to look around at the meat - the vast majority is just those bagged, marinated pieces you can get at Crosby's or Henry's and they will be just as good and probably slightly cheaper. No problem, I figured, as there is a massive sign centered in the store that says "custom cuts". My mouth is watering. I can taste the end piece of a perfectly cooked triangle cut. I ask about ordering some tri-tip. The kid flat out rejected me. He said "we don't carry that". I asked if he could "custom cut" one for me. He just replied again "we don't carry that here". I asked if there was a butcher in the area. He looked at me and said "I don't know, man" I'm not sure what they do here, because they're clearly not butchering fresh meat. They are basically getting large chunks of broken down meat and breaking it down farther and selling it for more money. I'm sorry, you're not a butchery, you're just a knock off crosby's. The location is great and prices are fine but it's gotten kind of dumpy inside. Also, the staff is not helpful or friendly. Drove out of my way to purchase filets from the butchery as opposed to whole foods and it was not worth the drive. I requested two 6 oz filets and they gave me one filet and told me I should just cut it in half myself at home --- not what I requested. Also, I get home and now the label says 8 oz.... If anyone can recommend a great butcher in the Lynnfield area, let me know! read more

I think it has gone down hill and one of the gentlemen in Butchery is downright rude. Last Thanksgiving I ordered a hotel style turkey breast. I even called to confirm it. When I went to pick it up it was not what I ordered. It had no wings and I declined it. The response was "that is what came in". There was no apology, no gesture of goodwill or anything. They had my number, but did not bother to call. read more

I was hoping to find high quality, grass fed chicken and beef, and some good deals on whole beef tenderloin but, after walking the whole store, they just aren't price/quality competitive. I shop here quite often and I purchased 2 packages of the 8 oz. angus burgers. I cooked one package and they were terrible, extremely chewy and lots of grisles. My kids wouldn't even eat them so I tossed them in the trash. I went back to return the other package and the woman acted like I did something wrong. She told me that they never have issues or complaints about these burgers. She did refund my $20, but also told me that she suggested that I don't buy these burgers again. If you're looking for a butcher, search no more. Previous reviews have complained about the lack of fresh vegetables. This is like complaining about the poor vodka selection at your local church. Here's what I can tell you. This place has meat. Lots of it. Pork, Chicken, Lamb, and beef. They also have prepared foods. I bought two garlic and cheese stuffed sausages, big ones, for 4 bucks. They also have awesome chicken salad and steak tips. If you live in Boston or the North Shore and you haven't tried this place. Make the trip. It's a total find and the meats are out of this world. Some of their food is great but I am growing very tired of the fact that they purposely do not put expiration dates on fresh baked goods in particular. If you ask the help they will give you some BS story of when fresh baked items came in but since new gets in with the old it's a crap shoot. I don't know how they continue to get away with this and being that I have been burnt too many times I'd rather drive down the street to Stop and Shop or even Farmer Browns. Wake up Danvers Butchery. People don't want disgusting old baked goods; especially coffee cakes, Pie Guy pies and prepackaged raisin bread. Not only does The Danvers Butchery have the most amazing meat around but they are THE place to go for their prepared food section! Always fully stocked and fresh finds. Amazing chicken salad, wings, and other meals that are ready for the go. The staff has always impressed me with their knowledge of the products and friendly service. HOLY CRAP!!!!! This place is amazing. This is the ULTIMATE meat market. i agree the veggies are less than appealing but thats not what keeps them in business! Any possible type of meat, marinated or not can be found here, and if youre looking for sides "in a pinch" they have some really great prepared salads and sides. Love coming to the store and finding it well stocked with local products and great meats. However, many items don't have prices on them or prices posted nearby, and it is very awkward to have to keep asking the price of something. Not sure if this is a temporary practice or the way of the future with the Danvers store, but it seems to be a very sneaky tactic where it is assumed that the buyer will buy the product regardless of its price. DO NOT GO HERE!!! Ok now that I got that out. So we bought some overpriced steak here for a cookout and it was rotten on the other side! When we brought it back the 40 year old obviously trailer owner working there accused me of trying to pull something over!! She also told me I couldn't get a refund or talk to a manager. So I went back to the deli and asked the man working there for a manager. I eventually was acknowledge and offered to exchange the meat for something else but I demanded a refund!! I shop here more frequently than McKinnon's Market these days mostly to avoid the crowded parking lot and aisles at McKinnon's. The Danvers Butchery has a HUGE selection of every kind of meat imaginable included premarinated meats and everythign is vacuum sealed for extra long keeping. Their deli is also nice with both Thin & Trim and Boar's head choices. They have a big selection of prepared meals for a quick take-out (but I haven't personally tried them). Minus one star for the HORRIBLE rotted vegetables they keep on display...and I don't mean a few stray bad vegi's, I'm talking really bad rotted vegetables year round. I can understand they do not have enough volume or movement on the vegi's but seriously when your zucchini are puckered and are missing chunks of skin, cut your losses and chuck 'em - it doesn't look good for your business. read more

Turkeys............300 please. Yep 300 of these mouth watering delectable treats for my staff every Thanksgiving. Wrapped, chilled, boxed, crated (pallets) and off my selection of 11 to 14 pounders go to various locations on the Northshore and NH. 300 happy bird loving afficianados of crispy skin and and moist turkey meat. I don't know what makes these birds so good but I think it's because they are the prefect size. All I know is year after year my staff raves about them. Mine comes out perfect and it's joy in "employee land." We've also used them(DB) for pre-made hamburger patties for company barbecues, hot dogs (Kayem of course) and fruit baskets for those who don't do the bird. Pricing..........I don't know because DB make is so simple each year. I don't care but I think it's pretty good. read more

I've lived on the north shore for more than 40 years and this is the best butcher. Two in Beverly who switched cuts, and quality and when called on it just shrugged. Their meat is the best around--and they have plenty of all of the types even when the regular grocery stores are all out it seems. I make a regular run here to stock up. I particularly like that things are vacuum packed so they keep longer in the fridge and can easily be frozen. read more

I have tried to like this place for years. Coming from the mid west I'm use to seeing meat cases and chatting it up with the butcher. When they moved to the current space I felt they really missed the mark not putting in a meat case. Everything there seems processed and pre packaged. Very few local items. When my boys were attending the local prep school I would occasionally stop to pick up some prepared food. I can't say that yielded one excellent experience. There also never seems to be too many customers in the place. So today I was driving by and peeked in and nothing was different. The meat looked fine. I picked up some cookies and bean dip which I know they probably package from somewhere else. Doubt I'm coming back anytime soon read more

Usually the meat and prepared sides I buy here are good. But just ran into a bit of an issue. Called the butchery to see if they can prepare me a few pounds of chicken wing flats without the drumletts. They said they don't do that here. Went here in hopes of getting some really good hamburgers. Found same boxed selection as local Shaw's and some really sketchy looking store packaged angus burgers. Opted for lean hamburger meat to make our own. It was ok, nothing special. Also purchased some artichoke spinach dip and red pepper cheese spread. Both were awful. Blandest artichoke dip ever, cheese dip was unpalatable. Rest of meat and poultry seemed to be premarinated, and I did not try, as this is a way to mask lower quality meat. Super helpful staff and great product. I went there a couple days before Memorial Day looking to buy baby back ribs; they were out, but were getting some in the next day. Bought some cajon-seasoned wings for grill that night - damn delicious! Next day, I stopped by in the afternoon... and no baby back ribs; truck hadn't arrived yet! The staff looked at the recipe I had on my phone, discussed it with each other and with me, and suggested the St. Louis style, relaying what the difference in the two cuts were. I picked those up and walked around the store a bit looking for additional items. Several minutes later, one of the employees jogged over looking for me stating, "Ma'am the truck just pulled in! I'll have them pull the boxes of ribs off first." Awesome! Great service - how do you beat that? Polite, helpful, eager to please, and knowledgeable. Ribs came in a 3-pack (though can get less, if needed) and are hitting our grill later today. Will definitely be back! Thank you!! read more

love this place, always great meats and if they dont have what you want just ask, they will make you whatever cuts you want. I love to get the ground sirloin and steak burgers that are just the best. they sell boars head meats and have a small selection of produce and dairy and other grocery items but its all about the meats here. they also have inhouse production where they make all sorts of marinades and meatballs, you name it they have it. Oh and they sell wine to go with the dinner and a nice selection of wine aswell. read more

Been going to the Butchery for the last 3 or 4 years. We like to buy the vacuum packed slabs of sirloin and ribeye meat and they cut them into nice steaks for us. The guys in the butcher shop are very helpful and knowledgeable. They have a great selection of all types of meat and hamburger in all sorts of packaging.
