Love the cab! Delicious food and the music on the patio is a great time. Will definitely go back

We are long time customers of The Cab (28 years) and have been going there almost weekly. With the advent of a new owner we decided to give it a chance. The food is average. Sometimes it is really good other times not so. One of the things is portion control. A few weeks ago, we ordered shrimp platters. There were 8 pieces of shrimp. Past orders there were 12 pieces. When asked we were told the portion is 8. week, my husband ordered the shrimp and got 12 pieces. They tout their fresh cut fries. Sometimes they are fantastic. Other times they are a soggy greasy mess. Prices have gone through the roof for most restaurants. I understand that. What were used to get for under $25 in now closer to $35. The Cab used to be a more reasonable option when going out to eat. There are times when a nearby chain is cheaper. I am sad to say we may still go to The Cab on occasion, we will no longer be "regulars". read more

GREAT service, great pricing, and great food! We went for happy hour and live music was a nice touch - not too loud when sitting outside but great background noise. Fries and slaw were wonderful - would recommend! read more

Food is mid, burgers and fries weren't good. It does have a decent amount of views and their menu is pretty large so I am open to trying a new dish in the future, to hopefully be a better experience. read more

This is the 2nd time in a row where our takeout order was terrible. When I've eaten in the restaurant the food is completely different. We got 2 sandwiches on stale bread with wilted lettuce and slimy tomatoes. Underneath the paper in the takeout box was warm coleslaw with a pickle mixed in. No condiments on the sandwich or in the box. I will never order takeout again from the Cab. It sucks to throw $50 away in the trash. read more

I don't like leaving bad reviews but I ordered the Cajun Burger and got a dry, extremely over cooked patty with no seasoning. If I wasn't super hungry after a long work day I would have thrown it out. The coleslaw on the other hand was delicious. read more

My mom and aunt really liked the cab. Mom had ribs and they were good and saucey. I ate the leftovers and it was good. My aunt and I had perch sandwiches. She liked the sandwiche . It was flavorful according to her. I thought it was mealy. Two or of three really liked the restaurant. I didn't. Maybe it was just a fluke. When I'm in Erie again I will experience it and will probably have a different review! read more

Awesome food and great bartender however there was a over served patron seated near us. The bartender apologized several times. He and his girlfriend apparently knew another employee. The guy was yelling and very obnoxious causing us to leave. read more

Worst restaurant in Erie! My wife and I had the perch dinner. It was seriously over breaded, overcooked and hard as a rock. I couldn't taste any fish and it looked very thin under that heavy, greasy batter. The baked potato was brown and dried out and the French fries were limp and soggy with grease. I complained about my meal and asked to be compensated with something else. They were willing to give me a small order of wings and I asked for hot Buffalo. They were smothered in a buttery sauce that was not even hot. The only good thing was the chicken gumbo soup. I thought this place was pretty good a few years ago but definitely not now. Like so many other places, they may have fallen victim to being so busy they are always slammed and can't find enough help to cook things right or they are in too much of a hurry because they have more demand than they can keep up with. But they are making money hand over fist and people are getting lousy food. read more

Went here for a social event. They catered it out back. The salad was fantastic filled with ham, , cheese and pepperoni. They also had some of the best Mac and cheese I've ever had. The string beans we're phenomenal. Not too crunchy or soggy. Just right! I wasn't crazy about the pulled turkey. We had to ask for BBQ sauce and they forgot to bring out the brisket. The front half (the bar) of this place feels like a dive bar (complete with smoking). The back restaurant is very casual, smoke-free, with lots of cool taxi-related and local signage and decor. I got the ribs and wings and loved them both. Ribs fell right off the bone. I ate them all with only a fork. Delicious flavor. Wings were great also. Not a place for beer snobs as their draft selection is regional mainstream players. Some IPAs available on bottles. Our server needed MUCH more training before she should have been released on our table. She was unable to tell me what beers were available in bottles. There was no bottled beer list. When I asked her what she had, she said "tell me what you want and I'll see if we have it." I ended up getting a draught of Yeungling. Every time we asked her a question she didn't know, she basically gave up trying to find the answer and kind of blew off our questions. I don't think she will last very long there. She was cute, kind and her voice carried in the loudness but her hospitality fell short. I'll be back for the wings and ribs again despite everything else. read more

Moderately cheap, depending on what you get to drink. The food is good, better than other local places twice the price. the wings are the best I've had in erie (I'm from buffalo). The drinks specials are cheap domestics usually, but it's a musty atmosphere so expectations need to be set accordingly. Not a family or date joint, but if you want some cheap drinks, with possibly interesting conversation too, this is a low-key bar you may want to try. I've been a handful of times & the atmosphere can change depending on which regulars show up. read more

The Cab's food is always good. Recently my husband and I ordered the Chicken Cobb Salad each and it was fantastic. Lots of bacon and eggs, marinated chicken. A hot roll with it. One salad was almost enough for 2 regular meals. My husband tried the Greek Dog, it was fabulous. Smith's hot dog (and Erie favorite) with fresh Greek sauce. The sauce was a little on the spicy side but delicious! I have eaten there smoked pig/bbq at several catered events and it is TO DIE FOR! Holy Wings! Their wings are delicious! Not too saucy, just right. The mediums are perfect and the honey mustard is fantastic! What I wouldn't do for an order of Medium wings and a pitcher of Yuengling right now. No seriously, I would probably do something compromising to my character right now if I knew I could get wings out of it. I love that there is a back room where you can eat that is separate from the bar, so there is no smoking. In the winter, it is kind cold back there, but hey-what the hell do I know about cold? I live in Southern California. I'm sure if you live there, the temp is just right. Go there! Get wings! read more

Great food. Casual and laid back place. Lots of nonsmoking tables in back. Although known for their wings, they've got lots of great food like homemade BBQ brisket. Good prices too. read more

The worst experience I ever had at a bar its pretty bad when the bartender cuts you off after one drink but yet they will serve underagers

I don't smoke. I go to the Cab for the food. The bar, smoky as it is, is in essence sealed off from the bar by a couple doors. The food is great- pot roast and potatoes especially, as well as the wraps. Ditch the big screen TV, and ya got a very friendly, casual place to go when you have a friend or two in town. I've had a couple meals that I didn't care for, but that was simply my tastes- I'd recommend it! read more

Love this bar. One of the few smoking bars in the area and they have good food. My favorite is the chicken wings with blue cheese dressing. Order the wings extra crispy. the blue cheese is the best I ever had. this is a real, down to earth blue collar bar with a lot of Bud Light sole with a Jim, Johnny or Jack on the side. read more
