We have eaten here many times when we are in Erie but I have to say the last time was not our best we started with bread it was maybe better when they first brought it out but it came long before the pasta bowl I ordered so it was kind of hard and really stuck together the pasta was way over cooked but the worst part was the salad, I had a piece of plastic like Saran Wrap I assume the lettuce wrapper in my salad and honestly once the dressing was on I didn't notice it and almost ate it I reported to our waitress who's comment was oh that's funny do you want another one and ill make sure the kitchen knows I mean really that could have been a chocking hazard my husband had the perch and liked it read more

Dog friendly place--their outdoor patio has plenty of shades, so it's a lot better than other places we checked (a lot of other places have outdoor patios but somehow not providing any shades, which won't work in the heat). The older female server is extremely friendly. Our dog somehow puked and she cleaned it without making a big deal of it, which we really appreciated. Food is good except that I am not sure why chicken wings would be "market price". I've never seen chicken wings being of market price. read more

We had a 7PM reservation for 9 people - they were great about the reservation. We were seated by hostess and handed to Haven - he was quick to take our drink orders. Was pretty quick to come back and take our regular dinner orders. We asked if there was bread - said he would bring it with our soups and salads. We were seated in the back and were the only table back there. They had live music outside and a few tables in the front. My cousins shared a story with the waiter how over ten years ago sitting at the same table they had forgotten about us for 30 minutes and never took our order until I called the restaurant and asked if anyone was working the back section of the restaurant. Haven promised this would not happen. We did not see him again until 8PM an hour after we seated when he arrived with our soups and salads. I said we were getting worried because we seated at 7PM and it's now 8 PM - wasn't sure what happened to you. He simply said they gave me another table and had orders. Ok. Haven Brought us the leftover bread they had which was all jalapeño rolls that were hot and were terrible. Cousin asked for some normal bread and he said they were putting more in oven - never heard anymore about bread - never brought anything else. Our meals did come out about 8:20PM - they handed me my steak tips and a brown baked potato from the bottom of the warming oven that was a couple hours past its prime and bitter. I looked at the girl that delivered it and said this potato is bad - she said nothing but did get me a new one. I did not complain. We hadn't complained at all. The manager or owner - no idea - came out and said do we have a problem - I said no - we just find it chuckleable that we were left here for an hour without seeing anyone - he said I will find out what happened - never saw him again. Food was ok - my second potato was barely better than first - in the 80 minutes it took to serve my meal they could have brought me a fresh baked potato that takes the same time to bake. ' My steak tips were cooked right at medium rare but delivered cold. Cheeseburger for daughter over cooked with black stuff coming off burger and delivered cold. Rest of food was fine - salmon, walleye, chicken and rigatoni. All fine. Mediocre experience. Repeat of ten years ago. Paid our bill - tipped per their guidelines - did not complain. They did not do themselves a service by pretending it went well, or even ok. The front patio was fully shutdown by time we left. As far as I can tell they just waited to make our food until rest of restaurant was fed or Haven just never delivered it. We politely paid and left. They don't know me - never said sorry about that or anything. Generally it just sucked. Was there with family from Wyoming, Illinois, Wisconsin, and North Carolina along with Erie PA - restaurant was my pick. No one enjoyed the experience and was just tired by the end as we left after 9 PM. I wouldn't suggest bringing a large party here for anything in the world. Just surprised with their lack of ownership for the poor experience. Hostess said please come again - that will never happen - blacklisted for me. If you get seated in the back room by yourselves - abort - you will be lost in that back room. That room has dozens of drain flies all over the place as well which means they have slow drains somewhere - again we never said a word other then sending back my old baked potato - kitchen never should have sent that out. Overall this place embarrassed me in front of my family and was just a poor experience. Two thumbs down. I did not take a picture of my mediocre meal - but we had two people that couldn't come - they were lucky to have missed it. We chose LOCAL over chain restaurants for our celebration. Upon arrival the "male host" was rude seating us in a ridiculous location when there were plenty of nice round tables available for party of 5, we picked up and advised we wanted a round table, with attitude he agreed. Beautiful night to sit on patio, nice open air dining venue. Host came with menus dropping them in front of us and "throwing silverware on top of menu. I said to my husband, what is his issue, he also had some other bizarre interactions we noted, may have been on spectrum, however when he almost slammed into out table while "bebopping around like a floating dandelion seed", I was beginningto get uncomfortable with his inattentiveand rude behavior. Waitress was great, brought out my grandsons meal quickly, however, of 5 meals, with explicit directive that my husbands meals meat must be well done when ordered came out medium well. She said she was sorry, took food back to kitchen and my spouse sat while we all eat, food came out after we had finished our meals, about 25 minutes later! My meal of chicken parmesan was less then special/$25. Got to go box, total bill, $168. Never again. I've lived here 90% of my adult life, our wedding reception was at Colony, have visited often, but we have visited for our last time. read more

Nice selection of specials offered nightly. Warm bread served with dinners. Roasted vegetables served with my entrée were decadently delicious (a mix of grilled squash & peppers). Casey, our server was very helpful always with a smile. . Cons- Low ceiling painted black makes for a claustrophobic feeling. Salad dressing and butter in plastic cups (low class). Interesting because side dinner sauce came out in nice metal ramekin. Dinner salad comes with cherry tomatoes, red onion, cucumbers, iceberg, and other lettuce leaves, but also pre-packaged croutons. Apparently, I got the end of the bag because my salad was covered in crumbs. Salmon was overcooked, but edible, no complaints, however, I specifically asked what roasted vegetables came with the salmon and was told, but only a garnish of kale & carrot curls were on the plate. Once alerted, our pleasant server, Casey, quickly brought out the side of veggies. Desserts were offered, but unfortunately tasted as if made off-site and stored in a freezer for a while and were slightly stale. That's a bad way to end a meal. Live music is a nice touch, but unfortunately, it was too loud for conversation at the table. . I went to visit my old friend, Kevin, owner of The Colony Pub and Grille. We did finally get a chance to catch up on old times, but I had a great lunch first. Walleye Sandwich and Sweet Potato Fries...outstanding lunch! Haven't had good walleye in forever. Along with many Tito's & Tonics. It's been several years since I've been there, but nothing has changed...it's still the same warm, comfortable and inviting restaurant it's been since Kevin bought it...prompt, courteous service is always a primary staple and the food is beyond exceptional! Fun place to grab a drink and some decent bar food... so why the 3 star right??? Well here's why.... Music was good but the older couple by us complained it was loud so they just turned it off. Appetizer was decent - fried zucchini, with marinara. French salad dressing with blue cheese was amazing. Kudos to the chef for that recipe. I had ordered the chicken Capone, it's kind of like a balsamic chicken, with a baked potato and a cluster of crab. The chicken dish was just awful. It was a cooked piece of chicken with 2 tomatoes on top and spinach. Not to be rude, it just was awful. My husband had chicken marsala and it was excellent, rich and creamy. This is a restaurant to stay away from if they are busy. They can't handle big crowds. Went there and they were having Christmas parties and the regular tables were ignored and bad food and service. We had to ask for our soup and salad when the waitress brought our meals. The dinners were terrible asked for shrimp scampi got rubber shrimp and buttered noodles was not worth the price. My boyfriend got their special muscles and scallops over noodles, no muscles only scallops. We were waiting over 15 minutes when we first got there for someone to take our drink order. I have been to The Colony several times with out a complaint. They always bake my chicken parm instead of frying. I try and reduce my fat intake due to heart disease. Last night took my family from Richmond VA and everything was great until the food arrived. Requested no cheese on the Chicken, but there it was melted on top. The server knew right away and took both dishes back to remake. A few minutes later here comes the dinners back and they had scraped off the cheese and reheated the chicken to a nice crispy blackened state completely uneatable. My wife cut out what she could and ate some, but mine was so burnt and hard i couldn't even find a piece to try. Sad part is that my son-in law prepaid with his card and the server said they could not take off the dinners. Guess who's not ever going back there again? Very disappointed. The food took over an hour for not being too busy at all. The mashed potatoes were so salty we could not eat more than 2 bites. We told the server and she said she will tell the cooks and never got it taken off or anything. It took over 30 minutes to get our check. A great local restaurant and pub in Erie! I usually will not post after one visit but I'll make an exception for the Colony Pub and Grille. We visited tonight (following COVID rules) to find courteous staff and adequately spaced tables; zero concerns. The food and drinks are reasonably priced with delicious bread rolls and surprisingly good cheddar-pepper biscuits; next came hearty wedding soup and generous salads. All of the entrees were wonderful but the steaks and prime rib cooked over charcoal in their Josper Oven were the stand-outs! The hardwood charcoal taste elevates the meats to another level making a $20 steak eat like a $50 steak; the grilled prime rib was amazing, incredibly good from a neighborhood pub! The staff delivered excellent service, checking in often and keeping the glasses filled; the owner even stopped by to check on us. The atmosphere is fun, the prices good, the food is great! All. You. Can. Eat. Crab. Legs. Don't ask, just do it. The meal comes with 2 sides and bread basket. In all honesty, we skip eating the sides and focus on the crab. They start you off with 2lb of hot and steamy legs. They will bring out 1lb serving as you request after that. I average 3 additional servings after the first 2lbs. They put extra care into steaming them, fresh as you go. Super easy to crack and the meat is SO GOOD. I just came back from visiting the best buffets in Las Vegas and swore the Colony snow crab legs were better than any of the legs we had on our trip. It's worth the price and will have you coming back again and again for any holiday/birthday/anniversary! Join the rewards club, they send you nice coupons to use every time you come in! (Some exclusions). Go Bills! (I saw that beef on weck on the menu) ;-) We visited again, this time with additional friends. We did the all you can eat crab which was just as good as the last time! Me and my fiancée always travel from Jamestown to Erie to eat. Was wanting to try something different than the normal Peach Street franchise restaurants. For a recommendation to go here from a friend who was born and raised in Erie and said they had good food. Well that was far from the truth. Waited for what seemed an eternity to have somebody come to wait on us. I had the chicken Marsala and she had the chicken picotta. I've never had chicken Marsala without noodles being served with it. My fiancées chicken was supposed to come with a lemon type butter sauce but seemed to have a weird looking gravy on it. My broccoli had a funny taste as well. Best thing about the experience was the live music that the gentleman was playing. I guess it's back to Peach Street for us. I don't mind paying $100 for a meal for two as long as the food is good. I've never spent that much money and left a restaurant hungry and I ate all of it just cause I was hungry. Portions were very small. Stay as far away from this place as possible. Family size chicken parm came without the pasta (wait staff forgot to give it to us), but why not just package it in the pan with the chicken parm? Family size pot roast spilled all over the container in the car and was extremely fatty, some pieces inedible. Salad was very heavy on onions. Beef on weck roll had so much salt it was practically inedible and the beef was very dry. I did however love the jalapeño dinner biscuits. My family has been going here for years. I love The Colony, so many amazing meals and memories. That's why this hurts. I'm not going to be too wordy, I don't want to be bitter. I just paid too much for unseasoned, horribly overcooked steak. Med rare was medium well, medium was super well, and my daughter's tips were charred. The steaks were no more than a half inch thick, without even a speck of salt on them. After a 45 minute failed attempt to find two separate bagel shops (both apparently are closed), I stumbled upon The Colony Pub and Grill. The outside was nice and inviting with cute shuttered windows and nice flowers. However once I stepped inside I felt like I had just stepped back into the late 70's early 80's. The inside is very dark (dark wood tables, hunter green table cloths, not a lot of natural light) which is great for the "Cocktail Lounge" portion of the restaurant but for a random Wed at 2 PM it was a bit too dark for my liking. The pleasant surprise was my food and the WiFI! I ordered the Bavarian with ham and Swiss that came on a pretzel bun. Yummy! I chose the regular french fries as my side but you can select sweet potato fries, cottage cheese or homemade chips. French fries were crinkle cut with just the right amount of salt and pepper seasoning. My whole lunch was $9.00 including tip, not too bad. I will say I did have to stop myself from laughing out loud when my server brought out my lunch. It had one of those metal covers over it like you see at bad catered diners where they remove the cover in front of you. It just seemed a bit much for a lunchtime sandwich but then again, I would have expected nothing different from this place. I'd definitely check out the Colony again and next time I will call the restaurant I intend to eat at BEFORE I venture there. read more

First of all we will never go back. i ordered the surf and turf, my husband filet and my friends scallops. My filet steak was so dry snd tough I couldn't eat it and the lobster was tiny. My husband's filet was super dry and then fries were from a freezer bag. My friends scallops were soggy and tasted microwaved not seared. The waitress took the half eaten food away after and dud not ask why no one ate it ?I told her my steak was inedible it was so dry and she took just $10 off the bill and the dinner was $38. No offer to take the inedible food off of our bills. I think it's a clue the food is horrible when you say no to a take home container. I don't know why anyone would ever eat here. Maybe ok for a beer or drink but eat only apps. Stay away from the entrees. read more

We had my son and daughter-in-law baby show there last Sunday. And with Covid we were so torn, with our numbers rising we didn't know what to do. Cancel it have it virtual!! I understand the staff shortage makes the wait time longer, but it was a little ridiculous. We seen people walk out and we simply asked for a drink menu and it took 20 minutes just to get us that. The menu was sticky, and we didn't get our regular drinks order taken. Well we finally put our order in but the food was kinda terrible and my girlfriend steaks tasted like lighter fluid and was tough, my sandwich didn't come with the dipping broth, her son's burger also tasted like lighter fluid. Hadn't been here in about a year so we decided to give it another try for dinner. Upon opening the door it immediately smelled like a nursing home. The hostess asked us if we would mind sitting in the "lounge" which consisted of a few tables near the bar instead of the main dining area. We said ok but immediately regretted it. It was very loud with extremely annoying music. At least it smelled better though. I got the Greek Salad which I would not recommend because the flavor profile was just plain weird. A total failure. The other people in my party got the Lake Erie Perch sandwich and salmon which they enjoyed. I will say that the sweet potato fries were good however be careful of the dipping sauce because I'm not sure what it was but it was NOT good.
