We discovered The Cabana Grill while visiting the Poipu Athletic Club. They share the same location, but you don't need to be a member of the club to eat at the restaurant. The grill also provides pool service for food and drinks, which elevates the whole experience when you're using the pool. I swear this is a hidden gem in Poipu, where prices at most restaurants are through the roof for mediocre food and service. Our favorite dish on the menu here is the seared ahi tacos, and the kids love their teriyaki chicken and rice bowls--it is so nice to finally see something besides chicken tenders or fries on a kid's menu! Service is quick and friendly, and the vibes are chill with popular Hawaiian music playing throughout the bar. It has a laid-back atmosphere and is the perfect spot to unwind. The food here was actually excellent and I would probably come back . Just go in knowing you might need have patience. My crispy chicken sandwich was delicious - crispy to perfection. Fish tacos were tasty and sweet potato fries were also so crispy and yummy ! However the service was a bit lacking and slow. I sat waiting for water quite a few times. We also ordered fries that didn't come until the meal was over ( and no discount). It's not great when the server brings them and says "better late than never ". Great casual dinner or lunch spot! We enjoyed our evening here. Good menu and food was flavorful. We had ahi and shrimp tacos and we both enjoyed them. Their drinks are reasonably priced too. Cool place- located in an athletic club. Was seated quickly. Food was good. Not the cleanest (dishes/table). Service was unfortunately not great. She never checked on us once. Ran out of water. Waited forever for our check and finally had to call her to ask for it. I don't usually complain about service but the service we had was not helpful. read more

One star goes to the view around the restaurant. It felt very calm (too bad the next table was a loud group). Unfortunately, everything else was mediocre. We came as a big group. Nobody enjoyed their food. Coconut shrimps tasted like those that you buy frozen. Sauce that was squeezed on top was bland. The soba noodles was just salty, no other flavor. Our pot stickers and wrap were delicious and the drinks hit the spot. If you have been to Kauai you know that the island is not a party spot but we were lucky that our trip coincided with the last Friday of the month and latin night at the Cabana Bar & Grill. Once DJ Carlos got the party started we had a blast dancing to salsa, cumbia, merengue and reguetón. The cabana bar and Grill on Poipu Road is a cozy beach restaurant with a chill vibe. Live music on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This is a popular spot for both locals and tourists. Service is friendly and pretty fast. I ordered the cabana burger cooked, medium rare with a side of sweet potato fries. My burger was yummy although I could tell it was previously frozen. The sweet potato fries were really good they were not too salty. Food and service were mediocre and overpriced. Pina colada was pure syrup - I couldn't taste any rum. Most concerning were the "mistakes" on the bill: charges for extra items that weren't ordered. Finally, there was a "card price" (really?) that added an unexpected $5 to the total. I took that $5 out of my 15% tip, which I think was generous, given our subpar experience. May 5, 2026: Went to the "Cabana" because I heard great things. Unfortunately the food (Rainbow Soba salad) and drinks were horrible. The food was super super salty and the specialty cocktails were bland and sour. How is a salad salty??? I have been to Kauai a bunch of times and this is by far the worst food I have gotten in Poipu. The Cabana feels like a shaded pool bar with a pleasant casual walk past the pool to the entry. The bar has an outlook towards the ocean and the seating area has lots of elbow room. Fully stocked bar with a sports bar setup on the barstools and view seating along the veranda. As casual of a dinner place as you'll ever find, with great friendly service and a nice menu of options. I had a super fresh Farmers Salad with a grilled piece of fish added (Mahi mahi, was served piping hot fresh off the grill and plainly adorned, none of that sugary mango sauce some places love to add) and my wife had pork carnitas, bbq smoked pork...Excellent! By the way, the health club that is home base for Cabana looked good. They seem to have everything, including a sandy shore wading pool for toddlers. read more

This place is pretty cool. You walk in through the pool area that has tons of chairs and a pool with sand like the beach. You seat yourself at one of many tables, and someone brought us over menus. Lots of menu items and a specials list. It was Cinco de Mayo, so we kept in simple with tacos. The ahi tacos were good with a tasty slaw, but the shrimp tacos were awesome! The staffs here were amazing. They were all very welcoming, always smiling and had great vibes all around. I had made a reservation a week in advance for 7:45pm. We were a group of 6. The restaurant closes at 8pm but they never rushed us. The restaurant is located next to the Poipu Beach Athletic Club. Once parked, walk towards the pool to the restaurant. They still had some live music till 8pm. We ordered a bunch of cocktails and beer. I thought the majority of the cocktails we had were on the weaker side, so I'd stick with the beers for next time. For food we ordered a bunch to share: pork sliders, ahi tacos, basket of sweet potato fries, taco salad with added mahi, and ahi poke. Everything was delicious. The portion size was generous too. We came across this restaurant while driving around the island. Google says it offers ocean views, which is does not, but it has a spacious outdoor dining area that was very pleasant. It is located at an athletic club of sorts, so you pass by a big pool on your way to the restaurant. The servers were good and took good care of us. The food was good if you order well, and most everyone enjoyed their selections. We started with nachos and the potstickers, and both were good. My mahi-mahi burger was ok, lacking a little seasoning, but the sweet potato fries were really good. The shrimp tacos and pork carnitas were both very well liked by those who ordered them. The toy closet at the Cabana is amazing and if you have a kid under 8 it's a major reason to come here. It kept our five-year-old entertained for nearly the duration of dinner. The food and drinks were more like 3 stars but the setting and the toy closet made me round up to 4. One exception to the mostly mediocre food: Korean beef potstickers! The little place is at the recreational area poolside for those staying in the resorts across Poipu in Koloa. I called to see if they offered gluten-free options. They said they were currently out of gluten-free buns but I could still get the tacos. So essentially they have burgers and tacos for gluten-free people. But if they're out of buns you just have tacos. I'll attach the menu. So we started with the house, made bean nachos with Boiled Beans, Shredded Jack & Cheddar Cheese, House Made Salsa, Sour Cream, Green Onions. This was pretty tasty although I wish they had spread the ingredients out more amongst the corn chips. Forgot to get the photo.SMH An I ordered the Ahi tacos but substituted it with mahi-mahi because I like my fish cooked and it came with Asian slaw, but that is NOT gluten-free. So it's 2 doubled up corn tortillas each, cabbage & garlic aïoli with mahi-mahi. It was bland and the fish was dry, so the waitress gave me some more aioli sauce because there really wasn't much on there to even see and that helped the situation a little. so I was able to eat it. I would venture the gas if the Asian slaw was gluten-free and taco would've been better. My husband's dish was the mahi-mahi fried rice and he stated it was OK nothing to really write home about but again the sauce made it much better. The virgin piña colada's were all right. We had better didn't have much of a piña colada taste. It was very light. The bar grill itself has a bar with friendly bartender. She was very nice as was the host who sat us down. The decor is weather beaten. The tables are old wooden tall tables with stools and our table was sticky so I didn't like that. No decor or anything on the table just the utensils and napkins given when we sat down. They had some that sat lower regular tables. They also had merch. It's between the pool, the gym and the tennis court, so not much of a view unless you like the people watch. Plenty of TV screens to watch sports. Open air and it was a cloudy day with periodic sprinkles, so it was a bit chilly with the wind for me. Stopped by the Cabana Bar after touring a little. Stopped to watch some football! Bar is located inside the athletic club however a cool little spot. About 4/5 tvs to watch the game. The lava flow drinks are delicious; we got some food however small portions for the price for bar food. We got nachos, chicken quesadillas( was delicious but like a half ) and shrimp tacos (2) Bartender was nice and staff delivering food was friendly too! Was just here for a wedding reception and man oh man do you need to try this place!! Food was 10/10, drinks were wonderful, but the real stars of the show were the amazing chefs, bartender and our beautiful server Kristen!!! They stayed open late for us and went above and beyond to make sure the bride and groom were happy!
