My wife and I reached our 50th anniversary and scheduled a family dinner at a nice restaurant. We wanted a special cake to top off the evening and chose The Cake Girl as our baker. We couldn't be happier with the end result. Not only was the cake beautiful, but it was delicious as well. Everyone raved about the moist texture and fantastic flavor.

We ordered a Batman cake for our grandson who was turning 3 . The cake was so moist and the artwork was incredible and a very highly skilled talented baker I must say . I've ordered custom cakes for years and the Cake Girl website blew me away because of the level of artistry involved in her designs and construction and beautiful details and color sense . I would highly recommend anyone wanting not just an ordinary store bought cake but something original and a huge WOW factor !

First of all, let me tell you why I love this business, aside from the many delicious cake reasons. I live in NC. My daughter lives in Austin, TX. For her 30th birthday recently, I needed a very special cake and went to Yelp to find the right person to do it. First, a little backstory... when my daughter was turning 5, I asked her what kind of cake she wanted. She said "a Kanker Sisters cake" (you'll have to look that up yourself) but I said ABSOLUTELY NOT. I made her choose a princess cake. But now that she's 30, I wanted to surprise her with her request from 25 years ago. I chose this business because of the wonderful reviews, and even though Leander was a little far away, my son-in-law said he'd go pick it up. Maryam was so on board with my idea and said she could absolutely do it! I sent her pictures and selected a vanilla cake and strawberry filling. She created THE most delicious, creative and perfect Kanker Sisters cake!! It was a huge hit - my daughter was SO surprised! I just came to visit and they saved the leftover cake in the fridge so I could taste it, and it is DELICIOUS! I loved how organized she was with sending me a detailed confirmation, then scheduled a pick up time for the cake to be picked up!

First I called Mary to make me a birthday cake just like one of the cakes in one of her pictures and she told me that a cake like the one I picked would run around $35 to 45 dollars, but she would have to check if she had everything to make it and would call me back. She called me back to tell me she could make it for me by the weekend (6 days away), but now the cake would cost $255.00. I was a bit shocked at the jump but agreed and then she told me I needed to pay 50% upfront and the only way she would accept payment was with Venmo. I told her I didn't have Venmo and gave her a bunch of alternatives like Zell, PayPal, and cash. She said that I needed to download the Venmo app, so I said that my husband might have it, and because I am a man she immediately said, I'm sorry but I'm booked through the week and I can't make the cake - "SO SORRY." Her entire demeanor changed and she basically hung up on me. I guess bigotry is healthy here in Texas. It looks like she makes ok cakes... nothing great, but after the treatment I received, she could make the most beautiful cakes in Austin and I wouldn't buy or recommend it! So disappointing! read more

Initalliy we called her thinking she was the one that did the cake for our son's first birthday (in-laws were the ones that got the cake last year.) Turns out she did not do it but we were far from disappointed when she gave us our cake for our son's second birthday. We wanted a Toy Story themed cake and she was super helpful with sending ideas and giving suggestions. She was also very accommodating and more than willing to make the cake for us with less than a week's notice. The cake decorations were everything we wanted and had asked for. The flavor of the cake was delicious and not super sweet. Everyone who had a piece, loved it! The only tiny hiccup was that she wasn't able to make the name label for the cake, but thankfully I had a friend that was able to do that for us so it wasn't a big deal :) She might not have been the one to make the cake for the first birthday, but we are definitely keeping her information for future birthdays to come! I called on a Friday afternoon, needing a cake for Sunday -- an unreasonable timeframe. Mary was tightly scheduled but nevertheless accommodated me, texting me designs she could conceivably finish given the time constraints. She even tried to create a special color I requested for the flowers, but, despite her efforts, the designs simply couldn't dry in time for Sunday. No matter -- the cake she created is a work of art, stunning in its appearance -- elegant, so meticulously crafted, beautiful. It's certainly something you'll hesitate to cut into, but you'll be glad you did, because It's delicious, too! Mary scheduled an appointment time for me to pick the cake up and was ready and waiting when I arrived. She's friendly, professional and immensely talented. As for cost, I found her price entirely reasonable given the cake she ultimately created and the time constraints she was under. read more

Mary is awesome! She saved my daughter's 4th birthday party. The lady I ordered my cake from originally had an unforeseen circumstance and cancelled Friday at 3:30pm and the party was for the next day at 2:00pm. I called several places to see if I could get a custom Aurora (Disney Sleeping Beauty) cake. Every place I called wanted a 2 week advance notice. My daughter had her heart set on this specific cake as she is now understanding birthdays and I wanted to be able to give that to her. When I called Mary she was very nice and understanding. She was able to create what we wanted on such short notice. When I picked up the cake it was absolutely beautiful! My daughter's face expression when she saw the cake was priceless. He asked for a vanilla cake with a whipped cream and fresh strawberry filling. They had used a white buttercream instead, and also put an inedible fondant covering the entire cake. This turned what was supposed to be a light and airy strawberry shortcake into more of an overly sweet and dense cake, I do want to note that they did not ask any follow up questions about what to use for the cakes icing or anything of the sort (which I find strange especially at this price point for a small cake) when my husband sent in the request. They also told him they put candles in the box, but there were none. We tried to reach out to the business to resolve this offline, and they did not respond. We love supporting local businesses, but unfortunately this one did not hit the mark.

Let me tell you, she did not disappoint!!! She was so helpful over the phone...providing suggestions for the design and flavors for the icing and filling. She sent me pictures and worked with me until we came up with my perfect cake. She was so easy to contact and always got back to me in a timely manner. The cake itself was AMAZING!!
