Lori is an amazing and talented baker that will not disappoint! Beginning with the initial inquiry and cake tasting, Lori was very quick to respond and I appreciated the professionalism and transparency. My fiance and I decided on an intimate wedding with family and close friends so Lori provided realistic serving suggestions and options to fulfill our needs. She never tried to "oversell" us on the amount of servings and she provided various options for us to choose from (i.e. different combinations of cake sizes - 6" or 8", several cake sizes + cupcakes, etc). On her website (classycakesbylori.com), she provides a great variety of flavor options and customizations for customers needs. To be honest, as a first time cake buyer, I was overwhelmed. However, Lori was very patient with me and my fiance as she answered all of our questions and provided professional suggestions on popular cake/filling/icing combinations that past clients had enjoyed. For our cake tasting, Lori asked us to provide five (5) cake/filling/icing combinations (all options can be found on her website). At the cake tasting, she was EXTREMELY patient with us AND she provided two (2) more additional cake flavors. Out of the seven (7) options, we selected her husband's favorite flavor: lemon blueberry cake with lemon curd filling and vanilla buttercream frosting for our wedding cake. Additionally, we also enjoyed her white almond cake with strawberry mousse and cream cheese frosting so we ordered a dozen (12) cupcakes for the wedding. In regard to the cake design and structure, we showed her our Pinterest page and she went out of her way to find the perfect sized clear acrylic cake risers for our display. Instead of adding more tasks to my already "overflowing wedding checklist", she ordered the boxes and had them ready for our approval weeks before the wedding! There was a small fee for delivery, but I highly recommend electing this service. Lori delivered and setup our cake/cupcake display which ensured that everything looked perfect. Classy Cakes by Lori provided a less than favorable cake. Buyer Beware!!! I contacted Lori by phone to request a strawberry shortcake for a birthday. I told her I wanted fresh strawberries and fresh whipped cream. I specifically requested no frosting/icing. She said she could do that so I sent her the payment. I sent her a sample photo, which had cherries on top, and asked her to use strawberries instead. The cake she made had thick layers of frosting/icing and was topped with blueberries. It did not have even a single strawberry, on the outside or in between the cake layers. (We later found what must have been the equivalent of one or two mashed up strawberry in the icing/frosting toward the middle of the cake - apparently she didn't care about using the strawberries throughout the cake). I had to run to the store myself to buy strawberries to replace the blueberries on top of the cake. I paid Lori via Zelle as I was out of town and flying in for this birthday. Had I known that she wouldn't provide what was ordered, I would not have paid via Zelle as there is no recourse to file a claim against her. I messaged her to offer her an opportunity to refund part of the cake but did not receive a response until after I posted a review online. And then the worst part of the experience. Rather than accept she made a mistake, she doubled down that she did add strawberries. She claims to have mashed them into the icing and added strawberry syrup. (Everyone that had a piece of cake agreed that there were no strawberries. We later found a couple mashed into the icing toward the middle of the cake.) Then she tried to pass off the icing/frosting mistake as a colloquial error saying that "around here" what people mean when they ask for whipped cream it is actually frosting. Wow. I was refunded the full amount and an additional $20 which at least covered the trip to the store and cost of the strawberries. This was an utterly disappointing experience and the cake was totally wrong. She clearly does not know what a strawberry shortcake is (hard to believe she is an experienced cake maker) and dealing with her afterward on the complaint was an awful experience. Lori has an attention to detail like no other. If you have an idea in mind of what you want for you special day, she will not only bring it to fruition, but will absolutely leave you in awe with the final product, well exceeding expectations that you did not even imagine were possible. Lori is truly an artist and her work will be the forefront of your event, and talked about for years to come. Lori went out of her way to make cakes for both our kids, for multiple years. We gave her the basics and she knocked it out of the park, every time, on time, with the utmost professionalism and for what we thought was too little of a price for what we received. She packaged everything up, carried it to our car, and instructed us on how to handle such delicate work, she truly cares about getting you the best product and is proud of her work, as she should be. In fact, her work was so well executed that we gave her more than what she was asking, because it meant so much to us and knew how much it meant to our kids on their special day. She mentioned we didn't owe her that much, but we insisted. I highly suggest giving her a handsome tup because of the effort the puts in. Our family members still talk to this day, years later, about how amazing the cakes she provided us were. Although we were just getting cakes for our kids over the years, I saw her production line and how professional, clean and organized it was. I had the pleasure of seeing some cakes she had finished or were in various stages of completion, I've been to a lot of weddings and I still to this day haven't seen a product as good as hers, for a better price. Lori was passionate about the wedding cakes she had been working on when I picked up our cakes, some of them were very specific and intricate, I could tell by the way she was describing what she was doing with them that she has a true passion for this, which is rare these days, every cake had a story.
