A couple of months have now passed since my 98 year old mother passed and I can write about the…read morelast year and days of her life without falling apart. I know I express the sentiments of my entire family when I say that if you are seeking care for your elderly parent ... consider this firm. My mom (Mim) lived alone and independently in the family home until just the last few months of her life. At 97 she "allowed" us to send in a caregiver in the early morning and the late afternoon. We met with several agencies in the area and she immediately chose Touched by Angels ... primarily because during the interview sessions with Pam Parrot, Mim was the person to whom Pam directed her conversations ... not me ... not my sister or brother. We were blessed in that Mim was still "sharp as a tack" so this made it possible ... but so often, family members and agencies will talk over the elderly and make decisions which they feel are best. This was not the case with Pam. The caregivers who were selected to work with Mim were handpicked by Pam who talked enough with Mim to know her interests and hobbies. They quickly became more than just helpers ... they became dear and trusted friends. On the day Mim took a big downturn and it was discovered that her doctor was out of the country, Pam was there helping me make that tough decision to transfer her to the hospital. Then on what was surely the hardest day of my life when the hospital transferred Mim to a nursing home, who showed up for moral support ... Pam Parrot. It's important to note that the weatherman was calling for extreme weather that morning (sleet, snow possible tornadoes). Each of Mim's caregivers visited her and called constantly to check on her well being. All went above and beyond what was written in their job descriptions. I will never forget this and I wholeheartedly offer my recommendation for this firm and the people who work there. They are the Angels when you need them!

This is nothing more than a facility to house your senior family member. I am horrified by the…read moreexperience I had living at this facility over three months ago. The building is beautiful and the food is quite good if that is all you care about. However the dining room manager regularly belittles the clients and even yells at them if they step out of line. The final straw for me was the need to go to the ED. This was because they keep the halls so hot I developed heat exhaustion while going back and forth to the laundry room. I was accosted the week before leaving (I had planned to give thirty days notice but forced to do otherwise) by the sales manager in the most unprofessional manner because I owed $200.00 for the month. Trust me this was not a lot of money. This person came blasting through my apartment door with at least one gentleman (I use this term loosely) and she was extremely belligerent and unprofessional. Rather than asking me or inviting me to meet with her in the office for a discussion it was a full on onslaught of my character and left me emotionally distraught. Two comments just made me shake my head as I was referred to as a free loader and then questioned how I could be fully disabled and drive. This in my opinion not only demonstrates her ignorance of disabilities but in some ways potential discrimination. At a minimum very low tolerance for folks who may be functioning at a slower pace. This is prevalent throughout. There are some wonderful employees that I enjoyed and I will miss them, but I believe my walker and I will find a much better fit elsewhere. Such a shame I was developing some nice friendships.

Just a couple of days before that I had mentioned to C.B. in passing that Sunday marked our first wedding anniversary. As you know, we were married right here in the dining room a year ago. We will never forget C.B.'s wonderful food and service at our reception that day. Fast forward one year later to this Sunday evening: food server Mary Saseen asked us at lunch-time to be at a certain dining room table at 3:30 pm. We knew that something was up so we indeed arrived on time. Lo and behold, Mary, assisted by Imani Kelly and Jamaul Bible, brought forward a wonderful round wedding anniversary cake with three candles. She got the crowd to say "Happy Anniversary" as June blew out the candles. It was a wonderful cake (and wonderful prime rib) and we had a wonderful time! I pray for C.B. and his staff every day, asking God to grant them the gifts of "helps", the gift of patience, and the gift of love. God granted all three prayers last Sunday night. June and I would like to thank them from the bottom of our hearts. May they all have one blessed day after another!

They charged us for the day because they said we didn't cancel the caregiver but they knew he was in hospital. They also charged us for an amount of hours that we have never used for my dad for an any given day. Below is the nice email I sent to owner, Ryan Murray and after multiple calls and emails, I still have not received a call back nor email and it has been several months. So disappointed in the level of professionalism . It's not even about the money at this point, it is the lack of care and respect as I have never experienced an owner or organization not communicating with their customers. I am in the customer service business myself and I would never treat my customers like this even if I felt they were wrong. ------------------------------------------------ Dear Ryan- I'm reaching out because I'm genuinely concerned about how long it has taken to hear back from you. This isn't the level of communication I expect, especially as a customer. You also know that we have never had anyone here for seven hours straight. I can understand being charged for our usual three to four hours, but seven hours has never happened and doesn't feel reasonable. I want to be fair, and I'm sorry this situation has become so frustrating, but communication is a basic expectation. Responding to calls and messages is the first step in good customer service. I work in this field myself, and I would never leave a customer without a response, regardless of the situation. It's simply not professional, and it feels like you're not acknowledging how concerning this is from our side. ---------------------------------------------- Again, Ryan Murray, never responded to the above email. Ryan, you have to do better than this going forward if you want to have a business in the future. This market is too competitive to not act kind and professional.

I use the helper 2 times a week for 4 hours each time. This lovely person, Natacia, has been an additional light in my day. We have so many similarities in our personalities, that I couldn't believe my good fortune to welcome her into my life twice a week. She has been such a positive influence, she has been able to help get me to doctors appointments, to swim at my local pool for exercise, assists me with bathing, grocery shopping, cooking, and has meticulously changed the linens on my bed every week. I can't say enough about the caliber of the staff at Senior Helpers. When my husband was too ill to care for me, Senior Helpers was easily available to step in for a few days to help out, until he was better. We are happily living independently in our apartment. We travel (cancel when we need to) and occasionally adjust our schedule with them and they always accommodate. We feel the additional help is well worth the expense so we both get what we need.
