A challenge is not a challenge if it was easy right? I first learned about The Camp Transformation Center Riverside after I've seen a few friends successfully complete the 6 week 20lb challenge. Seeing how it changed their lives, it sparked my interest, but not enough to try. Fast forward 9 years and 35lbs, I finally decided to try the challenge for myself. I will let you in on my thoughts during those 6 grueling weeks. On orientation day, the trainers discussed the program, the diet plan, and the term FTDI, which is short for "follow the damn instructions". They then demonstrated proper form for some of the common exercises and made sure we understood so that we don't injure ourselves. After the orientation, I felt pumped and ready to go! Now onto the first workout session. The first session will always be the hardest since everything is new and unfamiliar. I didn't know what a HIIT (high-intensity interval training) workout was, nor did I know how effective it can be. My first thought after the inaugural workout was "what the hell did I sign myself up for?". After the first week, things became familiar, and workouts became less intimidating and somewhat fun (but still intense nonetheless). The diet was by far the biggest hurdle I had to face. The hardest part was trying to keep up with eating every 2-3 hours in set portion sizes. Also, there are only so many ways to prepare tilapia and chicken breast before it becomes repetitive. Week 5 was especially difficult for me due to a loss in motivation. I'm not sure if it was from the diet or if I was just feeling a bit burnt out from pushing myself. Whatever the case was, I took a couple days of rest and felt like myself again. Overall, my experience with the 20bl challenge at The Camp Transformation Center Riverside was positive. I went in to what was a try out, got asked if I wanted to sign in got charged $160 then I called the following morning to speak to a manager why I got charged $160 they mentions it was an error they were going to re compensate that error I told them that I closed out my residence in Redlands so if I can just get my month back and they said yes I contacted Redlands and nothing yet. And as I see on my card they charged $62 despite me not going. So the fact I wasn't provided with accurate information this is very disappointing I went to one class and got charged over $200 and I can't get addressed Over this matter. Check the hidden fees and speak to a personal in person and not on the phone as you won't get accurate information. read more

The staff is definitely very friendly and has a great attitude. However, it's not an ideal place for beginners. Even though they say you can go at your own pace, the classes are usually overcrowded, and sometimes there isn't even enough space to do the exercises properly--you end up bumping into others. There are very few low-weight dumbbells, which isn't convenient for people without much strength or experience. The exercises are explained very quickly, and the fast pace can be overwhelming if you're new to working out. It's better to come with a friend or be someone who can easily join a group, since the workouts are team-based and it's easy to feel left out if you don't know anyone. The price is also very high for what you actually end up getting. You can receive much more personalized attention and guidance at a regular gym with a cheaper membership. The app doesn't offer anything unique that you can't just find online yourself. You also have to be very careful with the cancellation policy. If you don't let them know months in advance that you're not planning to stay, they will keep charging you. So make sure you read the fine print and set reminders if you're unsure about committing long-term. I understand this is a business and that selling is part of it, but they make you feel like you need to buy the supplements they offer to be able to see results. They push these products at the beginning, and end of each class, which gives the impression that they're more focused on sales than genuinely helping people grow and improve. When I shared my experience with Jessica at the front desk, she was a total sweetheart. She even offered to come inside and train with me but by that point, I was already done. I had spent two months struggling, constantly feeling overwhelmed instead of supported by the trainers. I just finished the 6-week 20 pound challenge. I had done one before, with a different Camp, about 7/8 years ago. I hurt my back a few months ago and couldn't workout and became depressed. I gained some weight and needed some accountability and quick results to jump start me back into my routine. I also was looking forward to building my core back up. I'm not within the weight listed on the agreement so I have to do another challenge to try to get my money back. I wasn't planning on having to do this and have two vacations scheduled within the next few weeks, so likely not going to happen. I'm happy to be in a better place physically and mentally now than I was 6 weeks ago though! The staff are all very nice and the workouts are pretty good. I had to modify my exercises due to my hurt back, but still managed to get a workout in. It's a bitter end to my challenge but a sweet way to kick off the new year. An offer to join a 6-week challenge to drop 5% body fat was the bait that got me to The Camp. I'm a competitive person so I was sold! 6 weeks later, and come time to test, I didn't meet the challenge. Because of my competitive nature, I would not usually allow a loss nor would I accept it. Today was different. While the final results were disappointing, I feel neither discouraged nor set back. On the contrary, I feel optimistic. These folks pushed me and kept me motivated. All the team helped me in reaching my goal, something that seemed almost impossible to do they were able to make it happen in only 6 weeks. 20 lbs less and I feel like myself gain. Finally completed my six week 20 pound challenge. This was the first challenge I have ever completed with the camp and even though I didn't hit the required 20 pounds I actually ended up losing 5% body fat without doing their body fat hard body challenge. The staff and coaches/personal trainers at this location in Riverside are one of the best that I have ever encountered. The workouts were never boring they were always intense and you always left drenched in sweat and your body feeling everything you just went through. Louis TC​​ his workout on the weekend is always an exciting one to do but for some reason it's sometimes a little intimidating it made my Saturday morning worth waking up. I love the workouts from Erick Salgado​​. That guy definitely knows what he's doing and you can tell he cares about his clients. I hated leg days but that just tells you that Emily Grace Hall​​, is a great trainer my legs always felt like Jell-O after and I couldn't wait to just sit down. The front staff cathybeth and jaydon were always so polite and helpful. No matter what time of the day it was they always greeted you with a smile for me it was always greeted with a smile and a salutation of good morning. All in all it was a great experience. I feel healthier more energized and it makes me motivated to wanna continue this process. For anyone and everyone who should and wants to try it don't be discouraged if you don't hit the weight that you're hoping for, the in body composition at the end will show you that you may have gained muscle and/or lost body fat even if the number on the scale is not what you hoped for. The Camp is awesome! But it's not for everyone. The camp has stringent guidelines to follow and if you're not discipline, you won't make it. The diet that you are doing is tough! Especially if you don't have a good diet coming in. But it's not impossible. It helps a lot! 80 percent diet and 20 percent work outs. This place rocks! I accepted the Challenge at the "The Camp Transformation Center" in Riverside to lose 20 lbs. within 6 weeks. I'm beyond ecstatic to announce that I've completed this challenge happier and healthier than ever. I've lost a total of 24.8 lbs. I was inspired through my cousins and co workers to join "The Challenge". I've noticed their great weight loss and healthier lifestyle change. I've been longing for a change of routine as I was un active in any physical activity since High School water polo and swim days. I was prepared to take on this challenge and have an open mind despite of all the hate I've received from friends and relatives. I was mentally focused to do this change ONLY for myself to gain confidence and live a better healthier lifestyle. I can testify that this camp is truly for the brave. If you are serious about loosing weight it is going to cost, you a lot of physical and mental fog at first but I promise you it will be worth it in the end. I slacked off many times during this challenge when it comes to eating and abusing alcohol. I had 3 weddings and a bachelor party in Lake Havasu to attend that was total torture for me. I've experienced that it is ok to fail and fall. The "Why" was always in back of my mind regardless of my shortcomings. I was determined to loose the weight and prove to myself that I can do it. I was able to shed the weight with training at the camp, extra cardio to Mt Rubi, eating every 3 hours and resting on weekends. The people who run this place are marketing wizards. They're purely business minded. They deserve awards and medals and trophies for being so good at what they do. They deserve to be honored and bowed down to. Unfortunately, the former sentences are not sarcasm or exaggeration, it's transparency. Right off the bat, you know what I find absolutely hilarious, the fact that the final rule you must follow in order get your $500 deposit back is to write a 5-star Yelp review. If it's a negative review or a review that's anything less than 5-stars (aka a review that reveals the truth), well guess what, you just willingly handed a dishonest company $500. Now that alone proves to show the ridiculous marketing scam that this place truly is. I was a fool, a gullible young girl, who was easily bamboozled into anything that sounded appealing. The owner, at the time, saw me solely as a young girl, who was desperate to get fit. So, as any other white-privileged-American-man-child hybrid would do, he cranked up the marketing skills he learned in his undergraduate business classes and used them to deceive me. To his benefit, it worked! Yay! You just scammed a young naive little girl to sign away the only $500 she had to you! This place is a freaking sham and I beg of you to see passed the deception and be conscious of the truth. In short, they swore an oath that every single person who completed the hardbody challenge regardless of any diet restrictions would be successful. I should've saw through that, because guess what? Weeks after signing my life away and depositing the only $500 I had, I didn't see results (as I was remaining faithful to the program and ftdi), so I reached out for help. And guess what. A vegetarian/vegan has never, let me say that again, NEVER, successfully completed the hardbody challenge. I almost died laughing at this point as they've reassured me, prior to signing the contract, that I'd be able to successfully complete the program as a vegetarian. After I called the owners out on their bullshit, they mansplained me when I requested for a refund. They basically laughed at what they saw as, a powerless little girl. However, not only did I message the owners themselves but I reached out to one of the only truthful and friendly people who worked at this location. I reached out to her for advice on what to do about this scam. And come to find out, she quit. She quit because she was sick of working for a fraudulent company. ***Edit/Update: Erick S had the GUTS to comment and apologize and offer what? Not only did he do nothing but mansplain me when I first confronted him about this issue TWO YEARS AGO but now he wants to offer me a 'free trial' TWO YEARS LATER? You deceitfully stole $500? I joined the 4/18 6 week challenge and it was really great. Don't join unless you're ready to hold yourself accountable. Especially with their diet and class times they have. I was able to meet the 20 lbs challenge and I am happy with my results. I will continue to lose more weight on my own because the price is a little high for me with everything going up. I also provided a 4/5 stars because of the times they offer for anyone doing the challenge is 6 and 7 pm Monday - Thursday. The classes were pretty challenging and I liked how they offered modifications for certain workouts. I would also recommend making sure 6 weeks from the date you start the challenge doesn't fall on a holiday or call the director because they will try and make you weigh in the Friday before the 6th Monday. Just finished my first 6 Week Challenge. I dropped 20.5 pounds and lost 14.75 inches off my body. It's a fantastic motivator to getting fit and healthy. The trainers are amazing, the staff is great and Erick the owner is always around to help motivate you. I did this challenge back in 2014 and it's improved but still amazing. Wher can I start? These past 6 weeks have not been easy but not impossible either thanks to Camp Riverside Crew​​ If I can sum these 6 weeks up in one word it would be "Self-descipline " why you might ask? Before the camp I tried loosing weight and getting in shape but I had no self-discipline .
