This was such a neat little spot we popped into during our visit to Lexington. The exterior is so inviting when we saw it while strolling the streets downtown, we knew it was a must. I love anything that invites a nostalgic feeling for me and this place definitely delivered. Any kind of candy old or new, you can fine it here. They also have some of the best "chocolate covered" items and chocolate truffles I've ever had. Plus their unique flavors - we got a banana pudding truffle and it was out of this world. I definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area and have some extra time on your hands :)

Great place to browse on an afternoon. You can find candy you haven't seen in years. They have all kinds of old brands and also fresh fudge and bonbons. We found some old fashion toys, a balsam airplane glider and a kazoo too. A lot of fun just looking around. Well worth a visit.

Very cool antique & candy shop! Yes, you can buy both here! Chocolates, fudge, candies, and all things edible and not, from your childhood, can be found here.

The candy factory really takes you back in time and offers so many different options that you can't possibly leave without finding something you would enjoy! They have all of the old fashioned candy that is hard to find as well as the new things you can find just about anywhere!

This is a great shop in downtown Lexington. The selection is fantastic; new and nostalgic treats abound. We almost left without getting some fudge and we're so glad we went back for some! The rocky road and maple nut fudge were both rich creamy and delicious! One of the owners was there and she offered great insight into other shops to try. Stop by if you are in the area. What a fun and friendly store!

I really wanted to check this store out since my work buys puffy peppermint from them by the case. The store was filled with edibles and gifts. The massive selection of things for sale in this store is delightfully overwhelming. For a moment I noticed the smell of popcorn and then the aroma of fudge hit me. You would have no trouble finding a gift for someone here. They had some nice ornaments. They had some tableware. They sold vintage postcards. The candy cases were filled with chocolate creations, cookies, and candies. I bought a bag full of stuff. It is defiantly worth you time to stop in and look around.

Cute old fashioned candy store I discovered today while in Lexington. You will find an assortment of candy here! Vintage sodas, homemade fudge, chocolates, traditional candies, taffy, anything! They also have some antique items in the back for sale and pottery. The staff was very friendly! Great place to bring the kids!

Love walking into the candy factory! The smell of the popcorn just lured you in! The holidays are usually the best, but regardless the time of year, you're always in for a treat! They have homemade fudge toward the back and chocolate! Barrels full of candy! and candies you really don't see around anymore. Cute old style collectibles decorate this store; it feels like you're stepping back in time for a minute. Love the hospitality from the employees

Very cute little candy store that feels like stepping back in time. They have a huge selection of goodies, and offer a good variety of sugar free treats as well.

This store is an Old-Fashion Treat!!! The staff is so friendly & cheery, such a pleasure. TRULY amazing Chocolate! Trust me it's worth the inconvenience of finding parking. Went in to buy treats for a few of my neighbors, ended up with a couple extras (Photo)

There are various downstairs rooms a large front porch set up with tables and some comfy seating. The location seemed to be popular with the locals as there were several groups located throughout the house either hanging out socially or working. We ordered from an extremely polite and accommodating barista and she was patient while we perused their long list of various coffee flavor concoctions. Although I don't remember the specific ones we ordered they were both pretty good. Although they do not use Torani brand syrups so the flavors did taste a bit synthetic. There are also a lot of various items for sale throughout the shop. I ended up purchasing a little knitted sock that fits on your broom handle to be used as a duster. For only $4 I felt like it was a cute and unique find. I actually wished I bought a couple more as gifts. If you're looking for a good little coffee place in the area that isn't one of the many big chains definitely give Black Chicken Coffee a try!

The coffee was a bit weak and watery. Also, it tasted like they use the same grinder for flavored and unflavored coffee. It has a bit of artificial flavor in the aftertaste. A Sweet Slice of Old-Fashioned North Carolina in the Heart of Chair City…read more This store is an absolute must-visit when you're in Thomasville -- or anywhere in the Old North State. Old North State Candy & Gifts is located in historic downtown Thomasville, diagonally across the intersection of Salem Street and East Main Street from the famous Big Duncan Phyfe Chair. I saw it from the Big Chair, and I'm very glad I walked over and wandered in. This is a classic hometown candy store -- the kind that feels like it belongs on Main Street in a Norman Rockwell painting. It has that warm small-town energy that immediately makes you smile when you walk through the door. They specialize in hand-crafted candies, including old-fashioned hard candy drops made in small batches. The selection is impressive: fudge, brittles, taffies, gourmet popcorn, chocolates, and hundreds of nostalgic and specialty candies from around the world. I was especially excited to find pecan candy rolls that reminded me of the classics from Stuckey's and Buc-ees. The interior is bright, clean, and beautifully organized, making it easy to browse. It's a welcoming space for families, tourists, and anyone with a sweet tooth -- or an Americana history enthusiast like me. I visited in early January, and the store was still decorated for Christmas, which added to the charm. The woman working that day was incredibly friendly and helpful, and we had a delightful conversation. I believe she may have been the owner, which made the experience feel even more personal and authentic. I left with a bag containing several flavors of taffy, maple-covered popcorn, and pecan candy rolls -- and they were OUTSTANDING. I'm still working my way through them and enjoying every bite. If you appreciate small-town charm, local businesses, and old-fashioned candy shops, Old North State Candy & Gifts is a true gem in downtown Thomasville.
