Going into this store was like stepping back in time for your childhood favorite candy. It's awesome! However, we were here for the ice cream. You can sample the variety of flavors before you dig in to a bowl of it & I highly suggest you do. This place had the best ice cream and the largest portions I've ever seen at an ice cream shop. The single scoop was actually 2.5 to 3 scoops and about $3.50. The kiddie cup is one scoop and about $2.30. (Tip: don't get the 'single scoop' in a cone! They are so generous with their portions that it was melting down my husbands hand in no time!) It's a small place and there's usually a line coming out the door and down the sidewalk. Very popular! read more

Such a cute and fun place to visit especially with the kiddos. First of all the place itself is super tiny, like I'm not kidding! We walked over from the beach hotel we were staying at nearby but there is also ample parking if you drive over. We each order a single serving of their fresh made ice cream and it was gigantic!! I got the butter pecan and pistachio which were both delicious. I purchased two pieces of homemade fudge which were wonderful. The boys had fun picking out old fashioned candy but the selection was so varied it was a bit overwhelming. I'm talking pop rocks to edible crickets, yes you heard me right crickets!! I purchased a few of their assorted vintage candy grab bags for less than $3 they each contained 6 different candies for me to gift to friends, super fun! Definitely will return! read more

Been here several times and we always love it. The staff is so nice and attentive. The ice cream is delicious and tastes fresh. Great price for the amount of ice cream that you get. There can be a line here, especially on a hot day, but the wait is well worth it. Their ice cream is sweet, creamy, and delicious. It will take you back to your childhood days, and you will be a little sad when you have finished your treat. That being said, I do recommend ordering a size smaller than you think you want because the portions are very generous! My boyfriend and I can easily split double and should probably stick with sharing a single. read more

The Candy Kitchen is a landmark in the Madeira beach area. Every time we come to the part of Florida we go to the Candy Kitchen. My daughter has even visited before driving back to Pensacola after a Disney trip. We visited again at the end of August and if nothing else, The Candy Kitchen is consistent. It is Consistently good. My favorite has always been the chocolate malt that taste wonderful. My wife loves the apples covered in home made caramel sauce. For the first time I had their Mango Italian ice. Wow was that good too. My only criticism of the place is i thought the butter pecan ice cream that i had could have been a bit smoother. It was just a touch icy for my tastes. This little thing hasn't kept me away nor will it keep me away in the future. This is a great place. read more

So I was thrown a little bit because I was at the new (or second) location. It doesn't have quite the same charm as the original, but it is still good! This store is so much fun! It may be small, it may be dingy, but it's a super enjoyable blast from the past, and I mean... wall to wall candy!? No brainer. They have tons of house made items and local specialties like delicious ice cream, fudge, salt water taffy, and frozen chocolate peanut butter bananas. As well as nostalgia stirring favourites like old fashioned sodas and candies from my childhood. Not to mention the staff are always friendly and incredibly knowledgable on their myriad of offerings. I love this place! It is small with limited people that can order but worth the wait. Prices are reasonable for portions. If you love different types of candy, this is the place to go. There is an area to hang out and enjoy your ice cream but not a lot of seats. The parking is a little tight but again. ICE CREAM!!! read more

My family and I come on vacation to this area every year and our first stop is always the candy kitchen. The candy kitchen is filled will newer candies as well as older candies. It also has variety ice cream flavors that are amazing! The only down side to is that it can very be very busy at night! read more

I bought six squares of fudge, 4 with caramel on top, amounting to a pound. My plan was to give some away to friends - the clerk helpfully and very neatly wrapped them up in some kind of paper that looked like parchment, so that within the box they were wrapped in sets of 2. I had to throw most of the pound away when I got home, as the paper bonded to the caramel, and ripped the top off of everybodys pieces, when I tried to unwrap them to separate them. My minimal expectation would be that if you run a candy shop where people don't down a pound of fudge while standing in your building, you certainly ought to be lots better at knowing how to package it effectively to go! In addition to this, the fudge was grainy / not smooth and creamy in texture. The ice cream was another story - it was smooth and creamy and delicious - and well worth the long line that all the others have mentioned, that we had to wait in to get our ice cream while at the beach. I would come back for ice cream only, and skip the fudge next time. read more

Did I mention that they have homemade ice cream that is soooo good. My favorite is vanilla ice cream with chunks of peanut butter, its heavnly and the portions are crazy big. We have had an unbelievably wonderful experience at the candy kitchen! In fact it has been so great we've been there every single day of our vacation. What has made our experience so wonderful is the staff. Ray in particular is most wonderful employee! He is so kind and generous and his customer service skills are out of this world. Absolutely delicious! The shop is so cute and filled with so many items that bring back childhood memories. I got the chocolate peanut butter in a waffle cone, and it was yummy! My boyfriend got a combo of cookies and cream and mocha chip and he was very happy as well!
