So it seems fitting that I am doing the first review as I have been trying to get my hands on those little baggies of the "blue stuff" since I was in town for Xmas two years ago and the 3x I have been back since...turns out the 4th time is the charm here! I happened upon their new location when I was passing through and as luck would have it, The Candy Lady herself greeted me at the door! I cannot convey enough how nice this woman is! You can tell she really cares about her product, image, and most importantly, her customers! If you are looking for any kind of Breaking Bad paraphernalia, this is your place! They have merch, those little baggies of the blue stuff, and they even offer a Breaking Bad location tour! And The Candy Lady will most graciously oblige you w/a photo op sporting a Heisenberg hat and holding a bin of "Blue Sky" not only Breaking Bad, but also some fake Benjamins! Now on to the chocolates! I only had a Grand Marnier truffle and a dark chocolate candy ginger, but both were super delish! You can tell the top notch ingredients and can definitely taste the quality! My only thing was that the gal that rang me up didn't tell me the price per item before she did even though I asked, so I had some sticker shock when those two pieces rang up for $8! They were really really good, but $4/piece was a little too rich for my blood. In any case, I had a blast and was so happy to have visited the new location! The quality of the treats is fantastic and I got to try a few samples of fudge that were also great (and I am not a fudge person). They also make it a point to not "cross-contaminate" so every product is made separately to avoid harming people w/food allergies. Highly recommend a visit! read more

A quick stop at the Candy Lady store after seeing their 'Breaking Bad' sign. It's a very small candy store with different types of chocolates & brittles. There is a small adult section to one corner so if u hv kids be forewarned. In the back of the store there is a very tiny room that the owners have set-up for the 'Breaking Bed' experience. U can go in & use Mr. White's hat, sunglasses & montage'd apron to take pix. Kevin from the store was on hand in the tiny room to assist with the pix. He was very informative & fun to talk to. At the end, I got me a stash of Mr. White's Blue Sky. Kevin did offer me a wholesale package of Mr. White's 'Pure' Blue Sky for distribution but I declined...for now. I guess he saw potential :) Kevin convinced Wify to sample the 'Peanut Butter crack' and she was instantly hooked. She got 1/2 a lb of the crack...& she ain't even distributing! read more

Really unimpressed by both the chocolate and the chocolate covered fruit. Tasted like something that has been left sitting out for far too long and has a weird floralness infused into it. Fudge samples were great, especially the almond one but items were definitely overpriced in my opinion. Fun mature items for sell though! read more

Just feeding off the reputation of the show, 'Breaking Bad' but then it's working! A little store with space for t-shirts, caps, and cups all with BB logo, some cute 'other' stuff, then home made fugde, some chocolates and miscellaneous candies. They offer free samples of different fudges they make, I tried red chili chocolate and it had the traditional flavors of fudge then a bit of a kick at the end for the red chili, very good, picked up some. They also sell small bags of 'blue skye' $1.00 per bag, small amounts and on the front porch of the store, you can put on the official Heisenberg hat as worn by Walter White, sunglasses and hold up a bucket of the 'blue sky' and get a free photo, your camera, they supply the props! I am a big fan of salted licorice. I picked up this "acquired" taste in my travels in Europe (mainly Germany and the Netherlands). You can find salted licorice all over Europe and usually in convenience stores for about 1-2 Euro/bag. But, once you hop over the pond, finding salted licorice can be a daunting and challenging task. I recently arrived into Albuquerque and was interested in checking out Old Town. After pouring over maps and guides, I decided to corroborate my research with Yelp. I fired up my Yelp app and found this neat little candy shop. I looked through the photos and read some reviews and learnt that they had a nice selection of licorice. Sweet! I was on a mission to see what kinds of licorice they carried. After about a 15-20 minute walk, I arrived at The Candy Land. The store was empty when I entered, but very shortly after, the owners greeted me cheerily. The man helping me probably figured out immediately I was not from town and asked where I was visiting from. I told him I was originally coming from NYC and I was very interested in their licorice selection. He was quite friendly and immediately gave me a sample of licorice caramel soft chew. It was quite tasty, but I wasn't too fond of sweet licorice. I then let him and the other women working know that I enjoyed salted licorice more. They then proceeded to let me taste the salted fish. That was almost perfect as I like the gummy consistency, but was looking for something a little saltier. They both then proceeded to give me another sample! This was kind of like a lemonhead except with salted licorice. This was exactly what I was looking for! I ended up walking out with 2 quarter pound bags of salted licorice which came close to $8. A bit pricey, however, the service was excellent and they kept giving me sample after sample. The man helping me also cut me a piece of ouzo chocolate and a piece of peanut butter ball for the road! He then proceeded to help me with sightseeing advice and gave me a bunch of maps and tourist guidebooks. Overall, I had an excellent experience here and the kid in me really loved all the salted licorice on offer here. I also got some great sightseeing suggestions in New Mexico! read more

Bitch told me I could take my mask off because they had a super nasa filtration system and according to her; "everyone's been vaccinated." (My Trumper parents standing behind me completely unvaccinated not wearing masks and not giving any shits) I tried to reply politely and said that I was okay and was going to wear my mask but she wouldn't let it go. We had way too much fun here!! They have SO many fun and novelty candies (Even an adult section), including obviously the rock candy from "Breaking Bad" lol. We got watermelon rock candy and I tried the chocolate gummy bears, which were amazing, and also a brandy chocolate cherry, which was so good! I wish I had bought more than one! We played dress up in the "meth lab" of course and the staff were so accommodating in helping us get several perfect pictures!! I couldn't believe how much time they spent with us. 7/28 We are huge "Breaking Bad" fans and spent a couple of nights driving around re-living the show. If you have time on your own BB tour, it should include a stop at The Candy Lady. She made all of the blue rock candy that they used for meth on the show for it's first two seasons. The porch is filled with show memorabilia. The store itself is a little small and cramped but it was well over 95* so anyone who came within five feet of me just made me hotter and more crabby. :) She has her own exclusive line of tee shirts from the show and has sizes up to 5X with some XLT options as well. You can even get dressed up as Walt and have your photo taken. The Candy Lady herself was there and she talked to my husband for quite a while. We ended up buying a Distributor's Pack of "meth" which came with three little bags. The candy looked fantastic but I'm a chocoholic and anything I would have gotten would have turned to liquid the moment I stepped outside. We ended up with some fruity rock candy and some jawbreakers. Those fruity things were better than Life Savers!! SO GOOD! There is an X-rated section that you can peek into (or peruse online) with perfect gifts for bachelorette parties, if dick and boob candy is your thing. :) Super fun store and great treats! P.S. One tip about walking through Old Town -- Be Careful! The sidewalks are terribly uneven and narrow. Some of them are brick/cobblestone which is coming up in spots because of tree roots. This is a small store with a large selection. Chocolates were very good; the handmade black licorice was very good. The fudges are a different matter. We had trouble booking the Breaking Bad tour through The Candy Land site but since we were scheduled to return home the following day he got a personal tour from the famous Candy Landy herself! This place is iconic! The oldest candy shop I've ever been in. It's been open for decades, being the Duke City's most reliable place for controversial chocolate or risque candy. This candy shop is known for its candy and chocolate sexually themed candy. Some people aren't happy that some ladies get a dark chocolate phallus to munch on in the town square of Albuquerque. They have a wide variety of fudge, toffees, licorice, and other creative and sweet concoctions! My favorite stuff that they have here is the red and green chile candies, which are sweet and hot. The best part is their role in Breaking Bad- they're the source of the blue meth used in the show. You can even go in the back and pose for photos with Jessie Pinkman and Walter White with a Heisenburg hat and a scoop of the blue stuff. I was amused that they even sell small baggies of 'meth' for a dollar. I don't think ABQ police or TSA would share in the humor- it looks super authentic. The service is super friendly, and they are happy to hand out samples. Parking is a bit challenging, since this store is on the periphery of Old Town. The cashier (a middle aged man with a Patriots hat) was having a personal conversation with a woman about mutual friends. This place is a candy/chocolate galore! A public service announcement though, if you are bringing young kids here then I would keep them away from the area with the "adult candy/chocolate" haha! Maybe I missed the sign or something but it doesn't say anything before entering so just in case you don't want your kids seeing inappropriate candy (see pictures!). The not safe for kids area is immediately to your right when you walk into the store FYI :). Anyways, this place is awesome! So many unique candy and chocolate. If I could give The Candy Lady 10 stars, I would. I was looking for something special for my mom for her birthday and, since it is a holiday, no one was delivering. The first time me and my fiancé came here we liked it because the guys were chill and they let us take pictures with the board cut outs today we went in the women were not really acknowledging the customers. I've always loved the Candy lady and I've been going there since I was younger but I won't be going back. None of their employees wear masks and one of the ladies that worked there told my son he didn't have to wear his mask. I told her he's going to because he has asthma and she proceeded to explain to me that "doctors" are saying not to and that children don't get the virus etc... We just wanted some candy lol not a weird version of her opinions on things and how to parent my own child. We left after a short debate and will never go back again. Giving this place 5 Stars because the moment we stepped in here we were greeted kindly and I believe we met "The Candy Lady". She was so sweet and gave us the full Heisenberg experience. They definitely made our day!! They have this little room tucked in the back that had Walter White and Jessie Pinkman but life sized cardboard characters. Loving the whole experience!! They sell these small bags of the blue sky, but it's rock candy ;) I hope to bring other family members when they come visit New Mexico to go visit this iconic landmark. How is it possible that a store that serves up a product as tasty as chocolates, especially chocolates this good, only has 9 reviews? "Tourist trap" or no, they're still good. Their chocolate offering includes many different chocolate covered items in a trifecta of white, milk and dark chocolate, which include: rice crispies treats, peanuts, walnuts, pinon nuts, almonds, cashews, marshmallows, pretzels, graham crackers, dried peaches, dried apricots, dried pineapple, toffee, peanut butter crunch and other creative ideas that I can't remember. They are all worth trying. They do sell a wide range of licorice (good) and some pre-packaged candies. Their big attraction is what's behind the glass. They've always been polite when serving me, so I can't complain there. I can't speak too strongly for the white chocs, and the milk chocs only limitedly, but for dark chocolate goodies, Candy Lady gets, high, high marks from me. They also have an adult candy and cards section, which I have only browsed through. Normally, b/c of their higher prices, I would take away one star, but because you are getting what you pay for (mainly based on the strength of their dark choc,) they have earned a solid 4 from me. read more
