Coming from the PNW, I'm so not used to seeing ice cream places everywhere. And I'm REALLY not used to seeing so many paleterias. Most of them have so many things It's overwhelming, but this place also has a ton of snacks like nachos and Dori Locos. The staff is really nice and helpful and even though it's in a sketch area it's cheerful and friendly. Side Note - This was a Better Call Saul Location. It was the Salamanca base of operation. Best Michoacana in Albuquerque My partner and I shared the Elote Chorreado. They let you choose what chips you can put in and we chose the lime hot cheetos. I also like how you can tell them how much Valentina you want. Didn't get pictures. We ended with paletas. He got coco I got pistachio. Both were bomb I always usually get the coco from here. La Michoacana stocks very tasty paletas, agua frescas, ice cream, and other cool treats at easy to afford prices. I've found the interior to be bright, festive, and clean. Big north facing windows flood the space with light. Plenty of parking spaces along the front of their emporium on Zuni Road SE a couple blocks east of San Pedro. Seating is offered at a bar along those street facing windows & at tables in a space decorated with murals of (I assume) Michoacan state in Mexico. Staff is always super friendly. These folks keep the good vibes turned way up. Every. Single. Time!! And their hustle is impressive too. They're quick to offer nibble size samples of the ice cream flavors if you're looking even slightly confused or uncertain on your choice. And for us gringos they're very patient explaining ingredients or products that are new to us. Their ice cream is very rich & comes in around $1.25 per scoop. Well worth it. I find a double scoop makes a satisfactory cool down for a not-so-big guy on a warm Burque spring day. Now if I can just get my taste buds to love more than just their pecan flavor ice cream. Somehow it is always what winds up in my hand. Agua frescas are delicious with natural fruit flavors. They also serve cups of chunked up fruit with your choice of juice poured over it. They've also got hot chimay (sp) spice to sprinkle on your cool treat if you think it needs a little jacking up. It offers a nice spicy contrast to the sweet smoothness of their frozen goodies. So stop in & check out this mom-and-pop shop who provide a wide selection of delectable cool treats from insanely friendly staff. This place has dozens of amazingly delicious paletas, plus a dozen or more ice creams, aquas frescas, and lots of snacks and treats to accompany them. Definitely worth going out of your way to enjoy these desserts. I recommend the cream based ones, but the ice based paletas are delicious as well. They're open early enough to enjoy after lunch and late enough to be able to enjoy them after dinner. read more

What a true Palateria!!! Makes me frustrated their are commercialized Paleta Bars in town charging $6+ for a single paleta! But La Michoacana did not disappoint as its genuine and authentic! I got an Avocado paleta dipped in chocolate with nuts as well as some papilokas to balance the sweetness. I was most impressed by the server who was very patient with me... there POS system and menus are in Spanish and he explained everything to me so I could understand. The atmosphere is simple but friendly. Don't let the fact that's it's on Zuni stop you from going, it's family friendly and worth the drive. Ohh myy goodnessss! This place is the single best reason that I saw, to not forsake knowing Spanish. The ice cream, creamery, gelato, Paleta bar, aqua fresca bar that greets you right in the front when you walk in, is something divine. The food here is amazing!! They mostly smell Mexican antojos which are basically appetizing snacks including ice cream, fruit juices, nachos and chips made to order. The service is prompt and self seating. My favorite things to order at a michoacana are fresas con crema(strawberries and cream) agua de melón(cantaloupe juice) and hot Cheetos with nacho cheese, jalapeños and corn. This the the best place in town for paletas, snacks and drinks. I come here as much as i can.

The elotes were hard and cold, you would take a bite and the entire kernel would come out and be hard to chew. It didnt really have flavor either, it just tasted like salt-less chili powder. Also if you don't know what comes on something and ask nicely to change it, they will say no because it's a waste of their food so you're s**t out of luck (even if youre allergic to something). Both of my children also got sick from the food and I'm glad I was only on vacation and won't ever have the opportunity to pass by there and be reminded of their nasty food... the only good thing about them is their ice cream and juices. Dont waste ur money here when there are much better options where you won't have to leave feeling dissapointed. read more
