For our 20th anniversary, we were looking for more than just a great steak dinner, we wanted an experience. After several locals recommended Antiquity, we quickly learned why reservations are so hard to come by. We couldn't secure a table on our actual anniversary, but managed to get one a couple of nights later, and it was well worth the wait. From the outside, Antiquity is understated. Step inside, however, and you're immediately welcomed into a warm, intimate atmosphere that feels like a hidden gem tucked away in Old Town Albuquerque. Owner Steve, who has been running the restaurant for nearly three decades, greeted us personally. His passion for hospitality was evident from the moment we arrived. While we waited briefly for our table, he took time to learn about us, ask what types of food we enjoy, and offer thoughtful menu recommendations. The restaurant itself is charming and authentic, with an old-world steakhouse feel that perfectly complements the historic New Mexico setting. Many of the tables and booths are arranged to create private, intimate dining spaces, making it an ideal choice for special occasions. We were touched when Steve seated us at what he called the "anniversary table," complete with a small scattering of heart confetti, despite our celebration having technically passed. Service throughout the evening was exceptional. Rather than relying on a single server, the entire staff worked seamlessly together. Water glasses were never less than half full, empty plates disappeared almost instantly, and every member of the team seemed genuinely invested in ensuring guests had a memorable experience. Even the kitchen staff engaged warmly with diners, adding to the welcoming atmosphere. As for the food, it exceeded every expectation. We started with oysters on the half shell, which my husband thoroughly enjoyed. I upgraded to the special salad, a beautiful combination of greens, apples, strawberries, mandarin oranges, walnuts, bacon, and a creamy mini brie, all brought together with a delicious pear vinaigrette. For our entrée, we chose the Châteaubriand for two. It was expertly prepared, carved tableside, and cooked perfectly. Every recommendation we received was spot-on, and the meal was so impressive that before leaving, I made another reservation for later that week just so I could return and try more of the menu before our trip ended. Antiquity offers beer and wine rather than a full bar, which was perfectly fine for us and fit the restaurant's classic, understated character. This is not an inexpensive dinner, nor should it be. What you're paying for is exceptional food, genuine hospitality, flawless service, and an atmosphere that is increasingly difficult to find. Antiquity doesn't simply serve dinner, it creates an experience. If you're visiting Albuquerque and looking for a memorable meal, especially for a special occasion, this restaurant deserves a spot at the very top of your list. read more

Such an amazing dinner! Our waiter Daniel was awesome very personable and gave great recommendations. The atmosphere was very romantic and warm. We got the crab cakes and the soup of the day (gumbo) both were fresh and seasoned well. For the entree we got the Henry IV and the filet both were cooked to perfection and probably some of the best steaks we have ever had. This will now become an automatic go to for any special event. I needed to make a reservation on Saturday morning. They're open from 5pm. They're closed Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. So I waited 3 days. Yesterday I called after 5, and their phone isn't even set up. Couldn't leave a message, couldn't talk to anyone. So you can't make reservations without walking in? I'm not free after 5pm until tomorrow which is the day I wanted to try and make a reservation for. Insane. read more

We got super lucky to be able to be seated as walk ins, their reservation list was packed (to be expected for a Friday). The server (I think Daniel) was excellent, he gave great recommendations on the house specials for the evening, and their service is out of this world - even refolding your napkins and stuff when you step away to the washroom. Everything we ate was terrific, even the cream of mushroom soup blew our socks off - it is finished with truffle oil that really elevates the dish. My fish meal (I cannot recall the type of whitefish that it was) was excellent. The potatoes were perfectly soft throughout with a crispness on the sautéed edges, and the lemon caper sauce was top tier. My partner had the Henry IV, which was the perfect portion - a bacon wrapped filet mignon topped with artichoke hearts in béarnaise sauce, and served over the artichoke leaves. Presentation was great, and the price point was bang on for all of our dishes. It was our first night on spring break in ABQ, and we happened upon this spot in Old Town somewhat by accident. The delicious smell from outside is what drew us in. Little did we know, we would have one of our best meals in recent memory. 7/5 stars. read more

Two weeks ago, my wife had her birthday weekend. I chose two restaurants for a Saturday and Sunday dinner. We went on a Saturday late dinner to Antiquity Restaurant. Reservations were a little bit hard because it's not online but I finally got a phone reservation on my 5th day. Call them between 4-5 pm when I guess they're not busy with service. Sean was our server and he was very pleasant and professional. We have been here before so we declined for him to explain the menu. It was a candle lit dinner and very romantic. We had crab cakes that are the best in ABQ so far and chowder soup. For entrees, we had the jumbo scallops and Henry IV filet mignon wrapped in bacon with artichoke hearts. The food was exceptional but the sauces on the scallops and Filet mignon were a little bit on the salty side. Overall, we enjoyed our night at Antiquity! read more

Visiting for the Balloon Fiesta and decided to venture to this restaurant for our 25th wedding anniversary. Ambiance - it was what I would expected for eating in old town Albuquerque...small, rustic, with the adobe feel...distressed wood beams, brick floor and quaint, dark room, we had an intimate two person both...was perfect. Service- manager greeted us promptly and accommodated our anniversary and put us in a nice table with confetti, nice touch. Our waiter greeting and covered the specials and I told him I had a tree nut allergy. He did a nice job on the salad and put the pecan nuts on the side. Unfortunately, when it came to dessert, he covered the in-house homemade desserts. I ordered the key lime pie which was lovely for the first bit until I realized the shaved almonds on top were not graham cracker crumbs. No Bueno!!! When I asked him if this was nuts, he said yes... no apology, no oh my gosh, just yep heres the bill. Food - I really enjoyed the special salad with Granny Smith apples, Asian pears, berries with a lovely vinaigrette. My husband had the homemade New England claim chowder, it was lighter (not heavy cream based) which he liked and had a green chili which gave it a nice kick. Our main course was the petite filet cooked to my liking over an open charcoal grill accompanied by delish broccolini, carrots and scalloped potatoes. My husband had the special veal schnitzel with a nice homemade pasta and sun-dried pesto sauce. Overall, we had a really nice time, great meal, nice atmosphere....just really have to hit them with the lack of attention on the tree nut allergy and lack of empathy from their sever....disappointment! read more

What a gem we found coming to Albuquerque for a conference. We were lucky to be able to walk in on a day with no reservations and get a table. The waiter was phenomenal. The food was even better. We started with oysters Rockefeller that were out of this world which always surprises me when I'm in the middle of the dessert. My husband got the special which was lamb chops, which were probably the best lamb chops he's ever had. He also had the roasted garlic soup that was amazing. I had the house specialty, Henry IV fillet with the artichoke heart that was delicious. I cannot stress how wonderful the weight staff are busboy included. Absolutely incredible! The ambiance is quaint and classy and the service is some of the best I've ever experienced. They even scraped crumbs off our table in between courses. I tried their Rockefeller oysters and was in heaven. I upgraded the house salad also and was very pleased. I don't usually remember a salad at the end of the meal but the berries, dressing, and fried Brie cheese was just perfect. 5 stars for the food and wait staff! Although when we walked in the owner was cold and uncouth, Steve Salazar. We were 10 minutes before are reservation time and he stated, your 10 minutes too early. We asked if there was a bar to wait at and he said, "No" and turned his back to us. The food was phenomenal but the rudeness of the owner was unprofessional and tacky. It was my 62 birthday and we spent over $400 dollars. When we approached him as we were walking out, we stated that the food was excellent but we didn't appreciate his rudeness when we walked in. He stated, Oh well, I've been in business for 52 years!? Must have been running the restaurant since he was 10. Once again the food is phenomenal but the owner was very unprofessional and rude. I visited here for a work dinner for the first time. Place is cozy and really small. The service was outstanding. We started with sautéed mushrooms and oysters Rockefeller. Both were very delicious. I had the Ono fish special with a vegetable medley and upgraded salad that was phenomenal and the dessert trio was a great way to taste a collection of the desserts. We had such a great experience on our last visit that we wanted to come back again for another special occasion. Everything from my earlier review still stands. We had the same waiter as last time (James) who was still fantastic. I had the Henry IV (this was the steak with artichoke that I'm obsessed with). They also had red chile posole as the soup of the day and it was absolute perfection on a chilly fall evening. Hubby had a filet medallion schnitzel which was very tasty and different. The oysters were on point. My one (major) recommendation is to have the host and reservation service match the service you receive at the restaurant. The call in reservations are not just a pain but the host (I think there's only the one) is not terribly welcoming either on the phone or when you arrive. Both our visits in the last several months those two things have been the biggest draw back. I still love this place though and I'm really happy that we rediscovered it. read more

Me and my wife finally secured a reservation at Antiquity. Arriving early we were promptly seated at a table for two. It was in a nice corner that felt secluded and romantic. The ambience of the restaurant is very nice and the service was impeccable. We weren't feeling any of the appetizers so skipped those but went with the Chateaubriand for Two. A lot of the specials sounded very enticing, but we were in the mood for beef. The Chateaubriand comes with soup or salad. My wife got the French onion soup and I got the salad. It was nice with a light vinaigrette and the cheese on the side was amazing. For the Chateaubriand it was cooked over an open fire and was perfectly a medium rare. The mashed potatoes were perfectly prepared and the mushroom and gravy made the dish perfect. We tried the dessert as well, and it was so good I forgot to take a picture. They had a special tiramisu cheesecake that was good. Pretty much tasted more of a coffee cheesecake. I liked it. We also got a desert sampler with Crème Brûlée, a chocolate mousse, and key lime pie. My wife loved the key lime pie, I liked the mousse and the crème brûlée was okay. Between the amazing service and excellent food, we would come back again and plan to soon. Last Thursday my family and I ate here for a birthday dinner. Everything was fine until the food arrived. I ordered the Henry the IV. I asked for my steak to be medium rare. The server arrived and told me to be careful with the toothpick that was meant to hold the bacon to the beef. He told me the cook could not find the missing pieces of toothpick so I needed to "be careful". I didn't think much of it until I started chewing. Found one hard piece. I put it on my plate to examine, sure enough toothpick. The piece was small. I went on to continue eating until this happened two more times. The third and final piece of toothpick was much larger than the previous two. Is this normal practice? Do customers just have to "be careful" when the cook can't find lost pieces in the food? Shouldn't they have kept the steak and cooked me a new one? The owner saw me after the incident and asked how everything was. I told him everything was great aside from the toothpick. He told me he can usually get 99/100 toothpicks and asked if the server warned me. I told him "yes", the server warned me. That was it. Conversation ended. No concession was offered, no apology. The only reason I post this is because future customers could potentially be hurt. Be ware! read more

Antiquity offers you THE best of everything and I've never said that about a restaurant. We think it is THE premier restaurant of Albuquerque. Aside from the food, we loved that the walls were decorated with artwork by local artists - it created such a nice vibe. We started with stuffed mushrooms and raw oysters. The latter happened to be a special offering for the evening. The mushrooms were stuffed with Italian sausage and herbs - they were the best I've ever eaten! Big kudos to the kitchen! We are big fans of raw oysters and these were from New England - plump and full bodied. We asked for crackers to accompany ours and they brought us some toasted crostinis - perfect! Take a look at the salad I ordered as my entree - it was the best house salad I've ever eaten. Plus, the presentation was magazine worthy. Fruit, lettuces, a soft crouton stufffed with Gruyère, seasoned pecans, vegetables - it was mouthwatering and delicious. Reservations are required and you'll probably talk to Steve, the owner, when making yours. Our service provider was Gus and he was attentive without being overbearing. Bless the gentleman who returned my phone message and fit my husband and me in to a 7:45 seating! Thanks ALSO to friends from Taos of 30 years who TOLD us of this 'A-ticket' restaurant. Sean was our super personable, pleasant and efficient waiter, supported by a terrific wait staff (I managed a restaurant for 2+ years and these 3 fellows were professionally top notch). Although they were packed, all waits were reasonable. The food was almost indescribably delicious and beautifully presented. Husband had chicken Madagascar w/house salad , 'house' Chardonnay and I Medallions Poivre w/ SW clam chowder starter (Cabernet). I grew up on farm raised-beef and my med.rare steak was PERFECTION. Chef elevated Jim's chicken dish to ALMOST making me covetous. We weren't rushed nor pressed to order coffee or dessert but bill was handled smoothly and we were thanked by Sean and another individual on our leaving. Bill w/ 18% tip was reasonable $115. I heard from multiple sources that Antiquity Restaurant is unquestionabley on the short list of candidates for best restaurant in Albuquerque. Armed with these trusted recommendations, I made a dinner reservation a month in advance, and then we dined here. Antiquity did NOT disappoint! Located in the touristy portion of Old Town, when we arrived and saw the exterior for the 1st time I didn't have high hopes for the interior, but it turned out to be all good; the inside is dark, cozy, and almost dripping with Old World charm. We were seated at a small, semi-private wooden booth, and we could smell and hear them cooking steaks on the charcoal grill inside their brick and stone oven; you can actually see the oven when you walk in the door. We started off with a soup, made with chicken, cream, and green chilis; it was delicious, and the salad they served with it was even better :-) We both ordered ribeye steaks as our entree. The steaks were perfectly seasoned, wonderfully marbled, and beautifully presented, with fresh vegetables and broccoli and cheddar mashed potatoes. Service was informative, attentive, and friendly - the owner even stopped by toward the end of the meal to make sure we were receiving good care (a very nice touch!). I came into town on business and heard great things about this restaurant so I decided to bring my colleague and business partner here for a business dinner. The restaurant's website stated all seating was by reservation and wanted patrons to call for reservations. The phone was appeared to be off of the hook as it busy and never ranged. Since it was a rainy Thursday evening, we decided to stop in and see if we could be accommodated. The host had his back turned to the front door. I asked if we have a table for three. He looked me up and down and said in a very abrasive tone, "In 15-30 minutes!" I replied okay. I wanted to explain that I tried calling to alert him that their phone maybe off the hook because it ranged busy. He cut me off and yelled 15-30 minutes and proceeded to turn his back on me. I was not only embarrassed for him but also myself and my colleagues. We immediately left as I am not in the business of supporting a business that is rude. Antiquity Restaurant is located in historic Old Town.  The venue is small and dark; it's very charming in an old-world way, with a number of small booths to provide an intimate, semi-private atmosphere for dining.  They cook steaks on a charcoal grill that's inside their stone & brick oven; the oven is plainly visible when you walk into the restaurant. From the moment we arrived, I was very impressed with our team of servers; Sean and his young female trainee provided incredibly professional and attentive service throughout our meal without in any way being overbearing or intrusive.  I especially liked that they actually told us about the specials right after giving us our menus.  This allowed us to consider both the listed and unlisted available selections before making our choices - I wish all restaurants did it that way :-) We started off our meal by sharing the Escargot appetizer; this turned out to be a delicious choice, with a very generous portion size.  Next, we shared two entrées - the Halibut and the Chicken Madagascar.  Both dishes were beautifully presented and nicely decorated with sauces that enhanced their aesthetic appeal with color; they were both very tasty, but my hands-down favorite of the two was the Chicken Madagascar.  It had a wonderfully striking flavor profile, which included both Green Peppercorns and mushrooms. Because our entrées were both exceptional and served with generous portion sizes, we finished every last bite, and so had absolutely no room for dessert.  I guess we're just going to have to make a point of coming back again very soon! To sum it all up, the combination of outstanding service, wonderful atmosphere, and exceptional food made this an unquestionably five star dining experience - I highly recommend Antiquity Restaurant :-) read more

I highly recommend this place, especially if you're looking for a romantic setting with fine cuisine. We ordered the Chateaubriand medium but leaning to rare. At an earlier visit, we missed out on the king crab legs. They sold the last ones to the customer before us. What we DID learn from the owner was, call us in advance for reservations and tell us how many orders of king crab legs you desire. Lean in. Lean in! I'm going to let you in on a secret. Take a look at those photos. It's right across from the kitchen. The table location is well lighted, warm, and spacious. When you make your reservation, ask for table 15. Any restaurant can sell and serve king crab legs. What sets Antiquity apart, as you can see in the photo, is the chef cutting the legs horizontally throughout the entire length. This allows the customer to dig in to the delicious crab and its accompanied drawn butter. My wife and I had surf and turf. King crabs with a filet. It was absolutely incredible! THIS is the place to celebrate a special birthday, anniversary, or just a special night out. We live in Fort Worth and come to Albuquerque two to three times a year.
