Got seated quickly and the service was quick as well! Our server was super sweet and attentive. The bacon cheese burger was a solid burger. The meat was good but it could've been seasoned more. The tomato jam that came on it saved it! The truffle fries were better than the Gouda fries to me but they were both good. Drinks are good and balanced. Tasted like they were crafted and not just made. Close distance to my hotel so ultimately this was a great choice!
Have you ever been to a high end place and ordered a burger? You get that look like ordering steak at a great seafood place. Well I do enjoy burgers and plenty of places have upped their burger game. As much as it cost for a burger at certain fast food places you might as well hit up some of these other places. The prices are basically the same now. On a few trips to Capital Grille I did go with the burger and so I decided to check out its affiliate Capital Burger. Capital Burger actually has more burger options to choose for over Capital Grille and a more slimmed down menu. Still with the name burger in its name, you know where their focus is. I went with the bacon cheeseburger that comes with candied smoke bacon that came at $22 with your chose of sides (fries or various salads). It was cooked to the perfect medium rare and you can tell when a burger is cooked with better ingredients and cooked with a give a damn. It was not thrown together, and the fries were not just sitting under a heating lamp. I actually ordered a to go burger for the spouse. Here is where customer service comes in. I was asked how far I had to travel and the person taking my order said she will separate portions so it will travel better. Thank you. It is that little extra that goes a long way. This time I went with the Capital Burger to go along with some key lime pie to nibble on later. Great service and great food. There are plenty of good burger places but if you are a burger fan then definitely check this place out. Absolutely no disappointment. For a true high end burger experience I have no problem giving this place a solid five stars.
Amazing service and food. Came here specifically for the parmesan truffle fries and it was so worth it. The best I've ever had! The Capital burger was good too. They also provide complimentary sweet pickles. Enormous thanks to our server, Stephon!! We loved his contagious smile, he treated us with so much respect and kindness.
We went here without realizing it's affiliated with The Capital Grille. I usually avoid chain restaurants but this ended up being good. We ordered a cheeseburger, bacon cheeseburger, vegetable burger, smoked bacon old fashioned and doli. The doli was extremely smooth (dangerous!) and everything tasted good. The vegetable burger is a bit soft/difficult to eat, but still tasty. I like veggie burgers that are not trying to imitate meat and this did just that by highlighting the veggies. The service was fast, and the place wasn't too formal but I did see suit oats for the waiters to wear.
The Capital Burger The burger don't come with any topping so be sure to add them. The bun was nice and soft. They missed the mark on the temperature and brought me a well done one, fortunately it was still juicy. I Cynivised by adding bacon and upgrading the fries to smoked Gouda cheese fries for an additional fee. The bacon was a little over cooked making it very hard and chewy. The cheese sauce was delicious, if only they had drizzled it so it was over the top of most of the fries. It appeared to be focus poured and was all on the bottom on one side of the dish. Red Chili-Glazed Chicken Wings Excellent glaze, featuring all of the flavors (salt/sweet) balanced well. The chicken was cooked a perfect golden color. These were my favorite. Kung Pao Brussels Sprouts Good amount of soy glaze coated on the sprouts. I didn't taste any spice, just noting it, since it was mentioned in the description, however, it didn't detract from the dish. The sprouts were well executed. Service was good, everyone was friendly. Limited menu, which they executed well. I would absolutely go again.
Sometimes you just want a simple burger. No foam, no deconstructed nonsense, no life-changing culinary lecture. Just a burger. Well... apparently The Capital Burger doesn't believe in "simple," because this thing showed up looking innocent and then delivered a surprisingly complex explosion of flavor. They even put grilled onions on it -- which I normally treat like a suspicious plot twist. But somehow they worked. I don't know how, I don't know why, but I ate them and liked them. Personal growth happened at this table. I sat at the bar and the service was excellent. My Sprite glass was refilled so often I'm pretty sure there's a direct pipeline from the soda fountain to my seat. Hydration levels were elite. I was tempted to try one of their cocktails because the bar looked like it meant business, but I had a big night ahead of me and felt like that decision might lead directly to questionable life choices by midnight. So Sprite it was. Responsible adult behavior... for once. Bottom line: came for a simple burger, got a fantastic burger, great service, and an unexpected appreciation for grilled onions. Would absolutely come back.
Easily one of the best burgers I've ever had! Cooked medium rare to absolute perfection every single time. Consistently thick, juicy beef patties. You really can't go wrong with the Capital Burger or Bacon Cheeseburger - They're both solid crowd-pleasers. As someone who doesn't care for fries, these fries shocked me. Crispy, addicting, and amazing as plain or smothered in smoked gouda! Burger and fries definitely outshined the Hot Bavarian Pretzel. Overall, great vibes and even greater service. Workers checked for allergies each time we ordered and were super friendly. The food was so good that we actually came back twice during our short DC vacation. If you're hunting for laid-back energy with knockout burgers, do yourself a favor and put Capital Burger on your bucket list!
I went here on a tip from a local. We were starving, so we were ready to get down on a big burger. I ordered the Signature Capital burger MR, and the wife had a bacon burger MR. The pickles they hand out were a nice appetizer. The place is full of energy, and the service was very friendly and attentive. The burgers were closer to a rare than a MR. I ate it anyway. They did look picturesque. The meal was 3.5, but presentation and service put it to a 4. It is a good spot for burger if you like 'em thick and meaty. In end, I would not return again, if I visited DC again. Either way, it may be someone's favorite burger ever, so it is worth a try.
12/2025 Outstanding burger spot in Mount Vernon Square! Our server Taylor was absolutely amazing--attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience even better. I went for the classic cheeseburger, cooked medium-well and topped with those sweet caramelized onions (pro tip: add them if they're not already on your build--they take it to the next level). Juicy, flavorful patty on a perfect brioche bun... easily one of the best burgers I've had in DC. If you're there for lunch, pair it with an Arnold Palmer--refreshing and hits the spot. You can thank me later. Highly recommend!

This place is sooo good! Perfect ambiance, the vibe is kind of a modern pub without being dark and dreary, big comfortable booths, plenty of space to not feel like you're part of someone else's conversation. Honestly we were so pleasantly surprised by how good the burgers are! I had the Capital Burger which had such incredible flavor and the burger itself is thick and juicy. Despite having just had a big dinner somewhere else, as I write this, my mouth is watering. My daughter had the wild mushrooms burger and she loved it -- the aioli had the perfect tang to go with the mushroom and Swiss, both burgers were cooked perfectly medium as requested. The old fashioned was just your typical old fashioned with a slice of candied bacon attached to the outside of the glass. We were hoping for something smokier and a little different but it was still a very good Old Fashioned. We shared the chocolate mousse and it was perfection. Yum! I'll keep it simple here: the burger was legit. I really enjoyed it and I would definitely order from here again. The fries were good too. Plus we had a good time dining outside while the weather was nice. They also made a solid strong old fashioned which i would come back for. Overall good burger, good fries and good drinks. The experience starts with homemade pickles in the best brine. We got seconds, because we loved them so much! The Gouda Fries are a MUST. I loved the Capital burger. My boyfriend got the blue cheese burger which also looked superb. read more

Obviously if you are here for a convention, you are likely coming here. Right on the corner across the street from the WEWCC. Expected a decent burger but was honestly surprised by just how good it was. Sat at the bar by myself. Long day. They do not take reservations so this worked out well. Had the signature Capital Burger. (Rare). Came with fries. Well seasoned and crispy. The burger was so good that I came back the next evening to do it again! The best little surprise is the little glass jar of homemade sweet pickles served with each order. I think the lean to a bread and butter style, and there are also onions in this little concoction. Not typical and quite delightful. Service both nights was superb. It's a very casual restaurant and menu. When we popped in on Wednesday and weee finally seated, the waitress wanted to immediately let us know that the kitchen closed promptly at 9:00 so that we get our order in before we started chatting. We had 6 minutes! We are not rushed once the food was delivered and she remained attentive. Also seems to be many regular customers here and for me that was a great sign. read more
Hubs had visited here previously when his company had an office nearby and recommended we go for dinner here. I wanted a vegetarian burger and when searching on Yelp, this place showed up on my search so I was game. Upon walking in, we were greeted by the host, who was very friendly. He offered to seat us and when we glanced at the limited seating at the bar, we took him up on the offer to sit at a table. It initially took about 10 minutes for someone to greet us, even though they were not packed. Our server was friendly and brought us waters immediately, then proceeded to take our order. Hubs ordered the Capital Burger and I ordered the Vegetarian Burger with the kale salad. Everything was soooo good! My veggie burger was full of actual veggies so it was so filling! Hubs actually had to help me finish. From what I observed, the restaurant was clean and tidy. Capital Burger is a solid spot with good service. The burger itself is high-quality meat, though it felt like something I could probably replicate at home since nothing about the flavor really stood out - just a good ol' juicy burger. The pretzel was a nice touch and made for a great presentation with a nice cheese dip. Surprisingly, the kale salad was a highlight--it was actually appetizing and well-prepared, which isn't always easy to do with kale. My experience here started very well up until the bartender got an attitude because my friend and I wanted separate checks and we stated that early in our experience. For whatever reason this pissed him of and he got into a cursing fit and called us "F@#king difficult". I won't be back. I hope they can find better staff in the future. read more
Came here hungry on the verge of hangry. The burger and fries cured that. Burgers were nice sized and filling and cooked as requested. The toppings on my blue cheese and black truffle burger were a bit heavy and could have been toned down by at least a quarter, as they overpowered the burger. Fries were fine and the lemonade was sweet and tart-just how I like it. They were served with a jar or pickles that were so good even on their own-cold, crunchy and tart. My companion had no complaints about her classic cheeseburger and we both added lettuce and tomato to our sandwiches. The place was large, bright and clean, our waitress was friendly and efficient, and the crowd was a mix of business and casually dressed folks all who seemed to be enjoying a break from the frenetic pace that sometimes seems constant in our big cities. The location near the convention center and a couple blocks from our hotel was perfect for us. I'd return and try another burger if in the area. read more

My burger was delicious. it was one of the best bacon cheeseburgers i've ever had. Though they forgot my truffle fries, they quickly brought me the fries and took care of the extra cost for them due to the slight situation. My waiter (don't know her name) was so sweet and kind and the overall atmosphere of The Capital Burger was nice. read more

Best burger in America. Seriously. Very cool atmosphere and Quan & Anthony are such attentive and nice bartenders. Every time I visit DC, I look forward to stopping in, and when I have a burger anywhere else, it just doesn't quite hit like Capital Burger. read more

I've driven past Capital Burger a hundred times and we finally decided to stop in for lunch. The burgers and fries are delicious. The price of our lunch was actually much more reasonable than I would have expected. Our server was great she got our order in quickly and our food came out fast. The Irish coffee shack is super tasty. I wouldn't mind it being it was a bit stronger. The burger was juicy and delicious. The fries were perfectly crispy on the outside. The side salad had a great very light dressing. The clam chowder was great and had lots of clam in it. This is definitely a touristy spot but I'd go back. read more
We had a great meal at this location in DC. The Capital Burger is actually under the same company as the Capital Grill. Our server Nicole N. couldn't have been nicer. Quite informed on gluten-free and dairy free preparation. My wife had the classic cheeseburger and I had the wild mushroom burger. I'm not a big mushroom fan; however, the means of preparation and the type of the mushrooms (wild) made them savory and a wonderful compliment to the meal. A++ read more

Is this kid friendly? I have a 1 yr old and an 11 yr old.
We didn't dine in but it seemed fine for an 11yr old. They had great customer service, you could even call them and ask :)
Why does the kitchen close at 10:50pm, rather than 11pm?
The kitchen closes before the restaurant. It gives the staff a chance to put in last orders and focus on cleaning and not neglecting customers.

Any true VEGAN burgers on the menu? True as in not even egg wash used as a binding agent.
Hi Kathryn - Our vegetable burger is not vegan, however we do have entree salads such as our kale and mixed greens salads.
