The Capital Burger The burger don't come with any topping so be sure to add them. The bun was nice and soft. They missed the mark on the temperature and brought me a well done one, fortunately it was still juicy. I Cynivised by adding bacon and upgrading the fries to smoked Gouda cheese fries for an additional fee. The bacon was a little over cooked making it very hard and chewy. The cheese sauce was delicious, if only they had drizzled it so it was over the top of most of the fries. It appeared to be focus poured and was all on the bottom on one side of the dish. Red Chili-Glazed Chicken Wings Excellent glaze, featuring all of the flavors (salt/sweet) balanced well. The chicken was cooked a perfect golden color. These were my favorite. Kung Pao Brussels Sprouts Good amount of soy glaze coated on the sprouts. I didn't taste any spice, just noting it, since it was mentioned in the description, however, it didn't detract from the dish. The sprouts were well executed. Service was good, everyone was friendly. Limited menu, which they executed well. I would absolutely go again.
Sometimes you just want a simple burger. No foam, no deconstructed nonsense, no life-changing culinary lecture. Just a burger. Well... apparently The Capital Burger doesn't believe in "simple," because this thing showed up looking innocent and then delivered a surprisingly complex explosion of flavor. They even put grilled onions on it -- which I normally treat like a suspicious plot twist. But somehow they worked. I don't know how, I don't know why, but I ate them and liked them. Personal growth happened at this table. I sat at the bar and the service was excellent. My Sprite glass was refilled so often I'm pretty sure there's a direct pipeline from the soda fountain to my seat. Hydration levels were elite. I was tempted to try one of their cocktails because the bar looked like it meant business, but I had a big night ahead of me and felt like that decision might lead directly to questionable life choices by midnight. So Sprite it was. Responsible adult behavior... for once. Bottom line: came for a simple burger, got a fantastic burger, great service, and an unexpected appreciation for grilled onions. Would absolutely come back.
Easily one of the best burgers I've ever had! Cooked medium rare to absolute perfection every single time. Consistently thick, juicy beef patties. You really can't go wrong with the Capital Burger or Bacon Cheeseburger - They're both solid crowd-pleasers. As someone who doesn't care for fries, these fries shocked me. Crispy, addicting, and amazing as plain or smothered in smoked gouda! Burger and fries definitely outshined the Hot Bavarian Pretzel. Overall, great vibes and even greater service. Workers checked for allergies each time we ordered and were super friendly. The food was so good that we actually came back twice during our short DC vacation. If you're hunting for laid-back energy with knockout burgers, do yourself a favor and put Capital Burger on your bucket list!
I went here on a tip from a local. We were starving, so we were ready to get down on a big burger. I ordered the Signature Capital burger MR, and the wife had a bacon burger MR. The pickles they hand out were a nice appetizer. The place is full of energy, and the service was very friendly and attentive. The burgers were closer to a rare than a MR. I ate it anyway. They did look picturesque. The meal was 3.5, but presentation and service put it to a 4. It is a good spot for burger if you like 'em thick and meaty. In end, I would not return again, if I visited DC again. Either way, it may be someone's favorite burger ever, so it is worth a try.
12/2025 Outstanding burger spot in Mount Vernon Square! Our server Taylor was absolutely amazing--attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience even better. I went for the classic cheeseburger, cooked medium-well and topped with those sweet caramelized onions (pro tip: add them if they're not already on your build--they take it to the next level). Juicy, flavorful patty on a perfect brioche bun... easily one of the best burgers I've had in DC. If you're there for lunch, pair it with an Arnold Palmer--refreshing and hits the spot. You can thank me later. Highly recommend!
Capital Burger is a solid spot with good service. The burger itself is high-quality meat, though it felt like something I could probably replicate at home since nothing about the flavor really stood out - just a good ol' juicy burger. The pretzel was a nice touch and made for a great presentation with a nice cheese dip. Surprisingly, the kale salad was a highlight--it was actually appetizing and well-prepared, which isn't always easy to do with kale. Overall a solid burger place right by the convention center.
Hubs had visited here previously when his company had an office nearby and recommended we go for dinner here. I wanted a vegetarian burger and when searching on Yelp, this place showed up on my search so I was game. Upon walking in, we were greeted by the host, who was very friendly. He offered to seat us and when we glanced at the limited seating at the bar, we took him up on the offer to sit at a table. It initially took about 10 minutes for someone to greet us, even though they were not packed. Our server was friendly and brought us waters immediately, then proceeded to take our order. Hubs ordered the Capital Burger and I ordered the Vegetarian Burger with the kale salad. Everything was soooo good! My veggie burger was full of actual veggies so it was so filling! Hubs actually had to help me finish. From what I observed, the restaurant was clean and tidy. Upon leaving, the same host wished us a great night and he was just as friendly as when we entered.
Came here hungry on the verge of hangry. The burger and fries cured that. Burgers were nice sized and filling and cooked as requested. The toppings on my blue cheese and black truffle burger were a bit heavy and could have been toned down by at least a quarter, as they overpowered the burger. Fries were fine and the lemonade was sweet and tart-just how I like it. They were served with a jar or pickles that were so good even on their own-cold, crunchy and tart. My companion had no complaints about her classic cheeseburger and we both added lettuce and tomato to our sandwiches. The place was large, bright and clean, our waitress was friendly and efficient, and the crowd was a mix of business and casually dressed folks all who seemed to be enjoying a break from the frenetic pace that sometimes seems constant in our big cities. The location near the convention center and a couple blocks from our hotel was perfect for us. I'd return and try another burger if in the area.
Amazing service and food. Came here specifically for the parmesan truffle fries and it was so worth it. The best I've ever had! The Capital burger was good too. Have you ever been to a high end place and ordered a burger? You get that look like ordering steak at a great seafood place. Well I do enjoy burgers and plenty of places have upped their burger game. As much as it cost for a burger at certain fast food places you might as well hit up some of these other places. The prices are basically the same now. On a few trips to Capital Grille I did go with the burger and so I decided to check out its affiliate Capital Burger. Capital Burger actually has more burger options to choose for over Capital Grille and a more slimmed down menu. Still with the name burger in its name, you know where their focus is. I went with the bacon cheeseburger that comes with candied smoke bacon that came at $22 with your chose of sides (fries or various salads). It was cooked to the perfect medium rare and you can tell when a burger is cooked with better ingredients and cooked with a give a damn. It was not thrown together, and the fries were not just sitting under a heating lamp. I actually ordered a to go burger for the spouse. Here is where customer service comes in. I was asked how far I had to travel and the person taking my order said she will separate portions so it will travel better. Thank you. It is that little extra that goes a long way. This time I went with the Capital Burger to go along with some key lime pie to nibble on later. Great service and great food. There are plenty of good burger places but if you are a burger fan then definitely check this place out. Absolutely no disappointment. For a true high end burger experience I have no problem giving this place a solid five stars. read more
Obviously if you are here for a convention, you are likely coming here. Right on the corner across the street from the WEWCC. Expected a decent burger but was honestly surprised by just how good it was. Sat at the bar by myself. Long day. They do not take reservations so this worked out well. Had the signature Capital Burger. (Rare). Came with fries. Well seasoned and crispy. The burger was so good that I came back the next evening to do it again! The best little surprise is the little glass jar of homemade sweet pickles served with each order. I think the lean to a bread and butter style, and there are also onions in this little concoction. Not typical and quite delightful. Service both nights was superb. It's a very casual restaurant and menu. When we popped in on Wednesday and weee finally seated, the waitress wanted to immediately let us know that the kitchen closed promptly at 9:00 so that we get our order in before we started chatting. We had 6 minutes! We are not rushed once the food was delivered and she remained attentive. Also seems to be many regular customers here and for me that was a great sign. read more

Simply put, one of the burgers you will ever eat. Love the 1/2 pounder that is perfecfly cooked to order. The complimentary homemade pickles are sensational. Don't miss the truffle fries. Great beer , wine and coctkail selection. Tbe service is outstanding. read more

We had a great meal at this location in DC. The Capital Burger is actually under the same company as the Capital Grill. Our server Nicole N. couldn't have been nicer. Quite informed on gluten-free and dairy free preparation. My wife had the classic cheeseburger and I had the wild mushroom burger. I'm not a big mushroom fan; however, the means of preparation and the type of the mushrooms (wild) made them savory and a wonderful compliment to the meal. A++ read more
I've driven past Capital Burger a hundred times and we finally decided to stop in for lunch. The burgers and fries are delicious. The price of our lunch was actually much more reasonable than I would have expected. Our server was great she got our order in quickly and our food came out fast. The Irish coffee shack is super tasty. I wouldn't mind it being it was a bit stronger. The burger was juicy and delicious. The fries were perfectly crispy on the outside. The side salad had a great very light dressing. The clam chowder was great and had lots of clam in it. This is definitely a touristy spot but I'd go back. read more

If you are looking for g for a casual place with good burgers, this place is for you! We came in on a Friday night, expecting to wait but were seated right away! Our server was so sweet and she got our drink orders right away! We had the pretzel appetizer, which was very good and filling. We then each had a burger. Both were cooked to our liking. They were good sized burgers not too big, not too small! Sides were also tasty. Starting with the pretzel definitely filled us up so we didn't get dessert but the key lime pie looked amazing. All in all, I would definitely come back. read more

I purposely ordered a plain burger so my taste buds were not thrown off by any extras. The burger itself was exactly what I wanted a juicy medium rare burger. The bread to meat ratio was perfect. The Capital Burger - Washington, DC Rating: 9.5/10 I stopped by The Capital Burger and kicked things off with the warm pretzel appetizer, which came with a creamy cheese dipping sauce. The pretzel had the perfect balance of soft and chewy, and the cheese sauce was rich and flavorful. What really stood out to me was that there was plenty of sauce -- enough to enjoy with every bite (a small but huge win compared to spots that skimp on dips). For my entrée, I went with their signature Capital Burger, cooked medium-rare, and added bacon and an egg for that perfect finishing touch. When the plate arrived, it looked fantastic -- juicy patty, melty cheese, and the bacon and egg stacked beautifully on top. Every bite was packed with flavor. You could tell the beef was fresh and high-quality, and everything from the bun to the toppings worked together perfectly. Overall, this place lived up to the hype. This is a solid, well made burger. Not too thick - I hate monster-sized burgers you can hardly bite into without making a total mess. I got the classic cheeseburger and added a fried egg - perfectly cooked. Excellent fries. Get a boozy milkshake too - yum. read more
One word is all that is needed - WOW. I asked Reddit where was the BEST DC Burger near the White House and they were right. This place was fantastic and exceeded our expectations. The service, drinks and burgers were all top shelf at fair prices. This place is awesome! My husband and I came here on a Friday night and we were seated promptly. The service was great and she checked on us multiple times. They serve homemade fresh pickles which are delish. The Brussel sprouts had great kung pao flavor and I'd definitely get the again. The Capital burger was juicy, perfectly cooked and so yummy. My fiancé and I discovered this place while planning our trip to DC, and the reviews convinced us to give it a try. We stopped in for lunch immediately after our flight and were not disappointed. He ordered the Capital Burger with plain fries and especially enjoyed the shallot aioli along with the homemade pickles. I had the Classic Cheeseburger with truffle fries, which was excellent. I also tried the Pursuit of Happiness cocktail, and it was generously poured. The hosts and servers were friendly and attentive throughout our time there. The place has a rustic atmosphere to it and they have outdoor seating for those good weather days. We would absolutely return on our next visit to DC. read more
This place is SOOOOOOO GOOOOOD! My partner and I were in Washington, DC and we got hungry for something we can't normally get back at home in Florida. We looked all over the place and the name The Capital Burger stood out to us. We were not disappointed. I ordered the Capital Burger which is a French Onion soup style burger. It came with Parmesean Truffle Fries which were crispy and delicious. Those two items went very well together and the freshness of this plate was phenomenal! That burger melted in your mouth and I wish I could have it over and over again. Just an FYI, this place serves complimentary pickles instead of bread, so if you're a pickle lover, you won't regret it. The pickles are made fresh in house and are some of the best pickles I've had! Our server was on top of everything and really made our experience worth while, as well. He recommended the Capital Burger to me and I'll always be grateful that I made that listened to his recommendation.. For being at the heart of Washington it was very peaceful. We got sat near a window towards the front of the restaurant and we could see some Cherry Blossoms nearby. It was a wonderful place and worth every penny! read more

The Capital Burger has certainly fallen off. I remember when the burgers in this place were to die for, but that was 10 years ago. Anyway, I had the bacon burger - medium....it was very dry and the cut of meat was cheap, ground beef not like the blend they advertise on the menu...as a cook myself, I could tell the burger was re-grilled, maybe the cooked it for lunch or god forbid yesterday. The truffle fries were overly garlic and greasy, even ketchup couldn't help them with this. This was not a $90 experience-Checkers has this level of burger if we're being honest. I was on my way to the National Mall from a few blocks away when I stumbled upon The Capital Grill. It looked decently open inside and looked perfect for just myself. Come to realize that they had just recently opened, and it would soon fill up. The lady behind the bar was incredibly personable. She offered her name (to which I can't recall), and help many times throughout my meal. She grabbed a water and a jar of their pickles and onions and set them out within a minute or two of my arrival. Great work on the service side of things! As for the food - just as good! The clam chowder was good, but nothing special. It served its purpose, so I can't be mad about it. The real winner was what they call "The Capital Burger", french onion soup turned burger toppings. OMG - this burger rocked. The meat was super tender and flavorful, but it was the onions and cheese that set this over the edge. The bun was top tier and added yet another layer of deliciousness. Stopped in solo for a quick drink and lunch before heading to a nearby festival. It was midday on a Saturday and I grabbed a seat at the bar since I was just passing through the neighborhood. Ambiance: Bright, clean, and had a really good vibe. Service: Sam the bartender was awesome--super accommodating and had great recommendations. Food: The complimentary pickles = amazing! I went with the mushroom Swiss burger (medium rare, no bun) and the kale salad. The plate looked great and portions were just right, but the burger was advertised as 8 oz and felt more like 4 oz once cooked. Inside was perfectly medium rare, but the outside was way overdone. The boozy milkshake was fun--perfect size, just a little too liquid-y, so definitely ask for it extra thick if that's your thing. Omg! What a pleasant surprise. We decided to give the Capital Burger a try after the Bridal Show at the Washington DC Convention Center. They quickly sat us in a spacious both in the bar area. The Ribeye Steak sandwich sounded great. I didn't realize that the sandwich was going to include a whole, beyond tender ribeye steak! The sandwich was outstanding! If you're in the area, give them a try. read more

We didn't dine in but it seemed fine for an 11yr old. They had great customer service, you could even call them and ask :)
Why does the kitchen close at 10:50pm, rather than 11pm?
The kitchen closes before the restaurant. It gives the staff a chance to put in last orders and focus on cleaning and not neglecting customers.
