For my wife and I know anniversary is complete without a visit to Capital Grille. One year while traveling on business during the week of our anniversary we actually ate at five Capital Grilles in different cities. One thing I have noticed as a constant throughout the brand is on the rare occasions where things are not perfect, they go out of their way to secure your loyalty. And while they are all outstanding, some of their restaurants stand out and Miami is one of them. This year, our only Capital Grille trip for our anniversary was the Brickell restaurant here in our hometown of Miami. I almost broke our tradition this year because I had a wonderful Wagyu 40 ounce prime ribeye the night before, but I could not bear to celebrate another perfect year with my perfect wife without visiting the perfect restaurant. And while it is perfectly acceptable to object to my frequent use of the word perfect so often in this review, I found that I could not perfect it without this indulgence. So here is the story of our perfect evening. We arrived for our reservation and parked with the valet parking. Extremely courteous and easy access to the restaurant. When we checked in, there was a brief wait while they prepared our table in their unique and beautiful way that they do for anniversary celebrations. Sometimes it is a little things that turn excellent into wonderful and wonderful into perfect. They escorted us to a lovely table and brought out champagne. The table was adorned with confetti and a card. While I recall the old days where they came out with an instant camera and took our picture and put that in with the card, I understand that times change, but I do miss that. But they did take our cell phone and make sure we captured a picture of the evening. They asked about our drinks and while we sip champagne, we considered that it is not celebratory without our favorite drinks at the Capital Grill. We asked about the Stoli Doli and they gave us a rather generous taste of it, which we enjoyed, but we decided to go with our standards, she with their signature Cosmo and I with their wonderful dirty Goose martini. They also brought out their bread basket and although I am on a low-carb diet, I cannot resist the best of brown bread in the world. I even had to ask for more. I started my meal with a delicious crab bisque instead of my usual salad. What a good choice. It was wonderful and I enjoyed every spoonful. A generous amount of crab and a very tasty bisque indeed. For the main course, I went off my routine due to my large stake the night before and for the first time ordered the lamb chops. I have to use the word perfect again. These were cooked perfectly and the flavor was wonderful. For double thick chops was a very generous portion, but every bite was savor. Loved it. My wife went with her usual filet mignon, which arrived a bit undercooked for her (although it would have been perfect for me.). As always, the meats were top quality and could not have tasted any better. Perfect in fact. Our sides were the Lyonnaise potatoes and brussels sprouts which were, sorry for that word again, perfect. The brussels sprouts are soy glazed with thick cut bacon. Frankly, they are meal in themselves. There is so much meat mixed in. Bacon is not something I usually eat, but for these I make an exception. Because they are exceptional. I sometimes also get the lobster macaroni and cheese, but deferred this time due to the amount of food we already had. They brought up a night, complementary dessert for our anniversary, which we enjoy every year because we ordinarily would not get dessert after such a big meal and these small tastes really add a wonderful touch to it. What can I say? The restaurant is beautiful and romantic, the service is impeccable, the management always comes by for a quick visit, and even the other patrons helped make the experience, yes, you guessed it, perfect. They have secured my loyalty as I love their brand and this particular one is truly exceptional. One might say perfect. I know I do. read more

WORST SERVICE EVER!!! I frequent The Capital Grille quite often in S. California and the founding restaurant in Providence, RI so I know the quality and level of service that is provided and expected. I recently dined at the Miami location the night before my cruise and decided to sit at the bar since I was alone. I was greeted by the bartender, Beverly D., with annoyance as if I was interrupting her. There were only 2 other people sitting at the bar that could easily fit 12 so it's not like she was busy/slammed. I told her that I would be ordering dinner. I didn't order alcohol so I guess that was the first strike against me. The entire process of ordering my food and "water" seemed to be a complete inconvenience for her. She brought me bread and went about her business. She seemed pissed off and kept talking to the other bartender. The front desk/hostess stand was very loud with all the staff standing around it chit-chatting. They were so loud at times with laughing and talking that I thought it was a table behind me full of patrons. Nope - just staff standing around being really loud and unprofessional. It happened a few times and each time I turned around thinking it was coming from a large party/table. Another person delivered my dinner and nicely asked me if I needed anything else. Not once during my dinner did Beverly ask me how my meal was, if I needed anything else, wanted something else to drink, or ANYTHING for that matter. I was shocked!! She didn't give me the the time of day!!! That is NOT the level of customer service and attentiveness that CG expects from their employees. Another staff member came over to me, when they could see that I was clearly done with my dinner, and asked me if I would like him to box leftovers and offered me dessert. I greatly welcomed his offer for both, thanked him and told him how much I appreciated him. Please note that the whole time this was happening, Beverly didn't check on me. I was so disappointed that I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I was tempted to not tip her but I can't do that. However, I saved the receipt with the Managing Partner's name on it, Oliver Ruiz, and plan to call him and let him know how terrible she was and how unprofessional his front desk staff was. read more

Capital Grille never disappoints. Their attentiveness permeates from their hostess to their staff at table service. They ensure your experience is optimal from start to finish. Great for date or family night and noise level provides atmosphere for conversation. We started off with a French onion soup cup, and a butternut squash cup. Both were delicious! I have to say the French onion soup slightly surpassed the butternut squash only because they added curry to the dish. Their filet mignon is moist with a pink center and perfectly cooked and seasoned. We also enjoyed the Brussels with bacon, which are not pictured here, but they were mouthwatering, delicious, and crispy. Never a disappointing trip to this restaurant. I will continue to visit. I go to a lot of steakhouses and, in this area, Capital Grille is a solid choice. This location is always consistent and on point with the steak temperatures and service is always above and beyond. Also I might add, they have a nice menu for Miami Spice. $60 for a filet, salad and a couple sides with a dessert is a good value. They get busy so make your reservations on OpenTable a few hours before you plan to dine. If you're looking for a good, solid experience or just a properly cooked steak, come here. read more

For starters, we tried the calamari and oysters--both were absolutely delicious and new to me. I'll definitely order them again! Parking is easy as there is an underground garage that connects directly to the restaurant via an elevator. They do validate a little but it's not completely covered. The inside of the restaurant is really special. You get an old time restaurant feel with some modern fixtures. The service was excellent throughout our dining experience. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. We stated with a bottle of wine and the calamari. There is a wide selection of wine. The calamari was excellent and the peppers really added a dimension to the appetizer. For entrees I ordered the New York strip with the au poivre and courvoisier sauce which was cooked to a medium rare perfection and exceptionally tender. I thought the au poivre and sauce were nice accompaniments to the steak. We shared some well cooked asparagus and the lobster Mac and cheese which had good chunks of lobster in it. My husband and I came out for a date night and decided on Capital Grille. I'm so glad we did. I can't speak about the food without mentioning the truly amazing service we received from Andy and his team. Andy guided us towards the most amazing food choices. I'm so glad we trusted his judgment and tweaks to our orders. To start, we had the tuna tartare and the wedge salad. They split the wedge salad for us so we each had our own plate, and it was honestly so delicious. It had this thick-cut bacon that was cooked to perfection, and the blue cheese dressing was a dream. The tuna tartare had great balance with the mango sauce and sriracha, and it melted in your mouth. For mains, we were going to have the Kona crusted ribeye and the sliced filet, but we were both on the fence about it. I had my eye on the filet with the Gorgonzola crust and the red wine reduction, and then Andy raved about the porcini crusted ribeye. We ended up eating the above and truly enjoyed it. The steaks were cooked to perfection, and the flavors were unmatched. At this point, we were convinced that Andy knows best and asked him about dessert. He mentioned his favorite was the crème brûlée, so we ordered just that. It truly has to be the best crème brûlée we've had. He described things perfectly which guided our decisions and our selections did not disappoint. Like Giancarlo we have tried Wagyu in Japan, as well as Kobe and other Japanese Wagyu and other American Wagyu, and some have been disappointing that I have not been interested in trying another American Wagyu. He described it as mix of Japanese and American Wagyu so at $95 I gave it a try and it was delicious. It is not over priced. It is slightly higher cost than the non Wagyu but it is worth it. The bacon was good. Not too sweet, not overly crispy. He described the type of lobster they cart bring South African and having the best texture and flavor and my husband said he was not disappointed he enjoyed his lobster tail. We enjoyed the asparagus. The only thing we did not enjoy was the Brussels sprouts. I typically love Brussels sprouts but these weren't crispy enough and the glaze was very sweet and thick. The flourless cake was surprisingly delicious. Better than cakes with flour that I've had. It wasn't crumbly, it was decadent. The cheesecake was also good. Celebrated an anniversary at The Capital Grille and the experience could not have been better. Service was fantastic, the manager checking in multiple times and the staff going out of their way to make it feel special. We were very grateful for the extra touches that made the night memorable. We went with the Miami Spice menu and kicked things off with their bread service, which is honestly one of my favorites anywhere. I had the wedge salad, and everything about it was spot on -- crisp lettuce, smoky bacon, and a dressing that was downright divine. For my entrée, I got the upcharge Kona Crusted Dry Aged NY Strip, and it absolutely hit the spot. The sides were classic! Dessert was the Flourless Chocolate Espresso Cake, and while there's no photo proof (because it was devoured the second it hit the table), trust me when I say it was my absolute favorite bite of the evening. This Capital Grille is in Brickell! To park, you would go in the garage and I believe valet is the only option in here with the easiest entrance. The valet has an elevator that leads right to the lobby/hostess stand of the restaurant. We were a bit early for our dinner reservation so we decided to walk around the area outside. When it was time, we were seated promptly. When I made the reservation, I let them know we were celebrating something & we were greeted with little confetti on the table and a nice greeting card. I didn't know we could be specific of what we were celebrating on the reservation but our server let me know we could so they could help us celebrate accordingly. The dinner was great! Our server was super attentive and helpful. When we were looking over the menu, we almost got carried away but he helped us slim down our order with half sizes of some of the shareable plates. So grateful he did that because we almost ordered a feast and, even with the half orders, we took a lot home! If there's ever anything I can recommend getting here, it would be the Kona-crusted dry aged bone-in NY Strip steak. It is sooooo good and a reason we will come back time and again. Although this place is a fine dining pricey spot, it recommend coming here for special occasions. They really know how to make you feel loved, even with the small things such as a greeting. Six years later and Capital Grille is STILL 5 stars! I met up with a few foodie friends last weekend originally intending to take part in their Generous Pour wine tasting. However, we just ended up enjoying one bottle and trying the delicious plethora of classic steakhouse side dishes. First of all, make sure to enjoy their brown bread with the slightly sweet table butter. Our waiter was pretty attentive in keeping the bread basket and even extra butter refilled. He was also great on recommendations. As far as side dishes, my favorite were the prosciutto-wrapped mozzarella with tomatoes in a rich and sweet balsamic vinegar. All were a grand introduction to my main course, their sliced filet mignon with fig essence. Served in a bed of fresh greens with cippolinni onions (the little ones) and mushrooms, this juicy and tender cut of steak (even though it was a little on the medium side) was the reason you meet with friends at a classic steakhouse for! I enjoyed it with a smattering of their aromatic truffle fries, along with my wine. Dessert was a creme brulee with a lightly crispy crust just like i love! Don't let looks deceive you, TCG is tucked away by the Brickell Ave bridge and looks like it might be empty but as soon as you walk in you realize they are busy! Came in to capital grille the night after our wedding in our newlyweds bliss. When I tell you our experience was outstanding it's not an exaggeration! They seated us in a cozy booth that made the entire experience much more intimate, even found the table decorated with roses. In terms of service, our waiter was fantastic. So sweet, gave great suggestions and gave us just the right about of attention and a lone time. He gets a 10/10 for sure. Food wise, the filet mignon was cooked to perfection and the au gratin potatoes were the perfect balance of cheesy and soft! We left with our hearts full and our stomach even more full! The wine tasting itself was wonderful, and Beatrice Wilson made it even more special. Her knowledge, passion, and presentation brought such a beautiful energy to the experience. We came in ( I'm currently on crutches/ cane , so )happy they had a walk way to get in . Friendly hostess showed us in to our friendly bartender ( Tanya ). I was really hungry tonight so I ordered the mashed potatoes and he ordered the asparagus. Both were delicious and perfectly cooked . My steak was a perfect cut, perfect seemingly quality, but lacked flavor, so I ordered a red wine sauce. It was really thin and sweet so I abandoned that and requested a bernaise . That was awesome then and Sweet and completely lacking the tarragon or any flavoring at all for that matter.! it was happy with the quality of steak, but it just literally had no flavor so I needed a sauce. I decided to just box it to go and order a side of mushrooms, which were good. We had a pleasant experience sitting at the bar great conversation with Tanya and overall really good quality of food . We asked for the check overlooked at you and had a conversation with her about how they didn't include 20% tip as most Miami places do. We over tipped as we always do and respect to her and appreciating her service. Oddly enough, as we were getting ready to leave someone called out that they needed to redo our check.?! I quickly grabbed our check and overlooked it and every single thing that we ordered was accounted for! The ambiance was astonishing!, with a warm glow and an epic shine on the wood that set the perfect tone. The steaks were cooked medium rare to absolute perfection -- tender, flavorful, and clearly prepared with care. Our server, Mariana (Mari) Was upbeat, attentive, and genuinely passionate about her work. Her positive energy brought moments of laughter and comfort, which was deeply appreciated. We started the evening by requesting the shrimp cocktail and the crab meat appetizer as we thought they would accompany the first three wines (Rose, Sauvignon Blanc, & Chardonnay) in the generous pour presentation that we are having this evening. We then ordered our entrées, we had three fillets at the table and one order of lamb shops medium rare plus. The bread and butter was amazing! The 7 wines were delicious, we loved the Pinot Nior and the white wines! For appetizers we tried the blue cheese and smoked bacon wedge & claw chowder, amazing! Had not been here in soooo long! What a pleasant surprise. I took my sister and my nephew here for dinner on Sunday and had a great time. We ordered the crab meat which was great. The shrimp cocktail which was standard but fresh. The Cesar salad had just the right amount of dressing and the bone in rib eye was to die for. It was cooked to perfection and sliced. We've been dining at The Capital Grille for years and I finally decided to write a richly deserved review. We dine out several times week and have a rather large universe to compare the Capital Grille to. My lead is the Capital Grille is top of the class! The food is superb and presented like art work. Ambience, people watching and value are all top of the class. And, the biggest lost art "customer service and hospitality" are far ahead of a crowded Miami restaurant scene. Last night our table had the Kona coated steak, sliced filet mignon, regular filet mignon and sea bass. Wedges, calamari, lobster and crab cake started the dinner. Sides of mashed potatoes , asparagus and creamed spinach accompanied our main courses. All were shareable. Deserts were cheesecake, flourless chocolate cake and cheesecake. The wine choices are very impressive and served with class. Lastly, why does this all work, because Capital grill hires, trains and manages and promotes professionals as we've encountered on every visit. Last night was no exception when Ryan, a member of the management team, visited our table to see how things were going. He didn't just visit making rounds, he visited like we were guests in his home.
