The food was excellent everything was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. What really made the night stand out, though, was the service. Jasmine was my server, and she was absolutely fantastic. She was attentive without being overbearing, knowledgeable about the menu, and gave great recommendations. She made sure everything came out just right and checked in at the perfect times. First date night in a very long time. My partner and I both happened to be researching highly rated steakhouses when we came across Chop Steakhouse. The reviews were excellent, and the Yelp photos, many of which appeared to be professional, looked fantastic. We made an early reservation for 6:00 pm but arrived a little ahead of schedule. The restaurant is conveniently located near CocoWalk in Coconut Grove. A few key takeaways right from the start: if you are looking for a quiet, intimate, or romantic dining experience, this may not be the place for you. The restaurant has a very large bar area, loud music, and a lively atmosphere. It feels much more suited for a night out with friends than a date night. We were seated in a booth, and despite arriving early, the noise level was surprisingly high. It was much louder than expected. Madison greeted us promptly and provided excellent recommendations. She was a fantastic server and truly made us feel welcome throughout the evening. We started with the Seared Ahi Tuna appetizer, which was absolutely delicious. The combination of flavors was outstanding and easily one of the highlights of the meal. For my entree, I ordered the Miso Chilean Sea Bass served with Yukon mashed potatoes and broccolini. It was superb. I know some people may wonder who orders seafood at a steakhouse, but I am glad I did. My partner ordered the recommended ribeye, and we planned to share both dishes. We also ordered mushrooms as a side. Unfortunately, the ribeye steak was the biggest disappointment of the evening. The steak was very thin and excessively fatty, and not in the rich, marbled way you would expect from a quality ribeye. It was nothing like the thick, juicy steaks shown in the photos and fell well below expectations. We also ordered a trio of steak sauces including horseradish cream, chimichurri, and another sauce that was fairly unremarkable. The horseradish cream sauce was excellent and added much needed flavor to the steak. Since we barely ate the ribeye and ended up sharing more of my entree, we decided to order dessert. The crème brûlée, one of my personal favorites, was fantastic and provided a strong finish to the meal. Would I return? I am not sure. If I did, I would request seating in the outdoor area, which appeared noticeably quieter and more conducive to conversation. I would also skip the steak entirely and perhaps visit for lunch or an earlier meal. The total bill was approximately $200 before tip, and we did not order any alcoholic beverages. Chop Steakhouse is solid spot to grab a drink and some food, especially for happy hour. I have never dined here at a table, but have gone to the bar many times. The bar is a vibe and the stools have backs which makes it a comfy spot to pull up with friends. Their happy hour includes drinks and snacks and my fave are the steak bites and the garlic shrimp. They also have a solid burger and I like their happy hour oysters. Chop is in the same restaurant group as Moxies so you can expect a pretty well rounded menu of classics. I've also tried their ahi tuna salad and it's very good and a huge portion. While my arm doesn't need to be twisted to have a martini, Monday's are for martinis and I believe they are $10. The bartenders here are nice and I always enjoy when I visit. It does get busy so I'd try and pull up early for happy hour if you're in the area. read more

After a few more times, the service took a hard dip. Groups of employees talking as we sat for almost 25 minutes waiting to get our order taken, mind you? The place wasn't even busy yet. I figured, any place can have a bad night. This time, horrible! I ordered two dirty martinis a modelo and a cup of ice water. Our server brought out an IPA and after apologizing, took it back, brought water with no ice and then the right beer. 20 minutes later, out came the worse martinis we've ever had!! Tasted as if they didn't clean the shakers? I've never turned away a martini in my life, except for today. We were so grossed out that we asked to close out our bill. My only complaint is that for a Friday night, the place was too loud to have normal conversations, and I wish it were better, but we were in the middle of the action in cocowalk. The steak was cooked to medium and was extremely delicious, with an amazing savory and hard crust. Their website says they use a very high temp way to crust these at like 900F or more? Something insane. The creme brulee dessert was to die for as well. Watch out for the 18% service charge/gratuity already included. read more

We tried the following - The cheese and mushroom dip as our appetizer, followed by their prime rib steak frites, and their crab and shrimp pasta dish. All were excellent. Other spots and live music. Now hosts are nice and you're seated quickly. Choice of high top or standard table, we were at a high top, still comfortable and cushioned. We ordered a round of drinks and they came out quickly. Complimentary bread came out so got and fresh that the butter melted before even applying. Next had the crab cakes which were crab chunk filled and a delight. Our main dishes consisted of the shrimp and crab pasta, half rack with veggies, and mine was the steak and fries. Now the pasta was for my dad and he could've eaten a bigger portion, still he insisted it was good, nothing with a wow factor. My mom had the half rack and nothing fell off the bone, the broccolini was good but the carrots could've used a little extra love ( I loved the actual crunch though) now for mine it was cooked how I wanted ( medium rare) and there was chimichurri atop but the steak itself didnt really have flavor. I wasnt impressed to be honest, the fried were good but I was a bit disappointed in the meat. own would I come again, I would give it a go cause I think I would've been satisfied with ordering different appetizers to share..but Im okay with the trying the steak again. Going vs the trend to say I am not a fan. Like a Moxie's, their sister restaurant, with lipstick. Ate at the bar, very full, attentive service. Ordered the baby back ribs, which were 2/3 fat--not slide off the bone meat. Friend wasn't thrilled with the steak frites. Chop is more on par with a Doc B's or Hillstone--not a true high end steakhouse--both of which are better choices IMHO. Might or might not stop by again for a drink and to watch a game but not eat. Came to this resturant as a work dinner and it was amazing. Such a beautiful resturant and ambiance. The service was great, all our servers were very attentive. The food was delicious, from the appetizers to the main dishes to the desserts. The drinks were also very delicious. We're long-time fans of Moxies in Brickell and always appreciate a good steak, so when we heard that same restaurant group was preparing to open Chop, we were excited to try it. Overall I'll give this place 4 stars, but to be honest, I was really hoping to love it a lot more than I did based on our experience here. They have indoor, outdoor and bar seating with plenty of screens for watching sports, and the dining area inside is much larger than it appears from the street. When looking at the menu, I noted they offer 1/2 price wine on all bottles up to $200 on Tuesdays, which brings them down to about the same cost you'd find them for in a wine shop; definitely a good deal. We also tend to eat later, so the fact that this place is open until midnight through the week was also a bonus. We arrived and were seated right away. Since we had our dog with us, we were offered a table on the sidewalk in front, which was great. I must say the service was the star all night from friendly and outgoing staff, including the hostess, our server and even the food runners. We each started with a cocktail, both of which were very good, though they did take a long time to be delivered and this place wasn't at all busy. When we were looking at the wine list there was a bit of confusion as there are 2 listings for Caymus with a big difference in price, but no delineation on the menu to note which Caymus bottle corresponded to each, so we had to ask. We ended up going with a bottle of Pio Cesare and an order of calamari to start, and they also brought warm bread and whipped butter. The calamari was good and it reminded me of the offering at Moxies, though neither of us thought the dipping sauce here was as good. For entrees we ordered the 12oz NY prime with carrots, green beans and mashed potatoes, and the Scottish salmon with green beans, carrots and rice pilaf. Both our entrees were good, but it seemed they were a bit liberal with the pepper, as nearly everything on my plate including the veggies had some heat to it - more than I'd have liked. The salmon wasn't very flavorful and if I'm being honest, I'm just not a fan of the way they prepare their steaks, which they say is to season them with steak spice, sear them in an 1,800 degree oven, dip them in beef tallow and then top them with sea salt and black pepper. My spouse found the steak to be a bit too salty, and I wasn't a fan of the outer crust of spices and pepper. Most quality steakhouses tend to go light on the seasonings so the true taste of the steak is the star, especially if they're truly serving prime cuts - that's the type of prep I'd have preferred. In the end our bill came to just under $245 before gratuity for our dinner for 2, with our bottle of wine being 1/2 price. Not terrible considering all we had and the fact that the steaks come with sides included, but overall neither of us were overly impressed by the taste and quality of our meals for the pricepoint. Also, as we ate we really became uncomfortably hot and were sweating, there was little to no air movement and it was only early July. A few fans for the sidewalk tables would've helped immensely. We were in the Grove and noticed there was a new restaurant where key club used to be and we were in luck because they had just opened 3 days earlier...so we stopped on in for an early dinner. Let me say the vibe when you walk in is great they have done a great job with the bar area and the overall feel of the restaurant. They have a lot of staff eagerly waiting to seat and serve you and there were plenty of Managers walking around making sure all was in order. We had the pleasure of having Shairin as our server and not only was she super attentive but she had some great recommendations and we were not disappointed with any of them. At our table they tried the flatbread as an appetizer and we also had the Tuna Tataki which was absolutely amazing so fresh and tasty. For the mains we had the Salmon, the Ribeye, the Mediterranean bowl and the Mahi Sandwich and all meals were prepared deliciously and sides are amazing especially the fries that came with the Mahi Sandwich. I also tried a sour mocktail that was delish can't remember the name right now but I did snap a pic which I will share.
