Excellent Stay! Great Staff! Clean and new Rooms! Comfy Beds. Quiet. Great neighborhood. Great price. Safe and secure. 3 night stay at this hotel. Not sure who manages the hotel but it's very clear they care a lot about their customers. All staff were truly amazing, efficient, attentive and kind. The free snacks all day + free breakfast + great free happy hour is an amazing find in NYC. And were good and fun to talk to other guests. Rooms are clean and recently renovated and stylish. bed is comfy. TV worked great. fridge and all other amenities are exactly what you need and are new. All of this is especially impressive for NYC, where often even the big brand hotels don't provide this level of service or attention to detail. Neighborhood is amazing. Steps from central park, carnegie hall across the street. great restaurants around and subways to everywhere. This is the cente of midtown Manhattan. Steps from a million famous NYC landmarks. The only hiccup in my stay was I had to move rooms. Was initially put in room 2003 which had a great view but was near the elevator. I don't mind regular elevator noise (this is New York you're going to have some noise), but there was a banging from the elevator cable or something that made a very loud noise that I couldn't sleep with. Hotel should have this problem fixed so other guests don't have the same problem. But the staff relocated me after my first night with no difficulty. Problem solved. I don't write many reviews, mostly because very few businesses actually put enough care and effort into their business for me to spend the time on them. Carnegie Hotel was worth staying in and worth writing a review! Nice Job! Will stay again. read more

The hotel space is good as long as you know what you're getting into ahead of time. The hotel is NOT spacious and doesn't have a bar or any food on location other than basic snacks. But, if you're planning on exploring Manhattan and only really need a hotel to sleep and shower, then this could be the place for you. This hotel is perfect for what we needed. Is it 'omg amazing best ever'...well no, but each part it serves it's purpose AND has more than the bare minimum. Allow me to elaborate: is the breakfast a full, hot spread? No. But there's eggs, a variety of breads/treats/bagels, fruit, granola. cereal, yogurt, and oatmeal. Their little coffee machine, is it a huge fancy gourmet coffee machine? No. But it's better than crappy airport coffee and has options for cocoa, latte, hot water for tea, cappuccino, etc. The wine and cheese hour in the evening, is it a sommeliers dream of tasting after tasting with an assortment of artisanal cheeses? No. But some crackers with swiss and cheddar and some grapes? Nice! A choice of a full bodied red or white? Nice! Plus it was decent wine with nice legs, not super watery bottom shelf type stuff. The rooms have PLENTY of storage, i saw no sign of bedbugs, and they give you little disposable slippers to wear in the room. Because the hotel is tall and skinny, there's only two rooms per floor (at least... on our floor? so i assume on all floors?) which means there's no drunk people fighting, doors slamming all hours, or kids running up and down the halls. We got snowed in when our flights got canceled and they were able to accommodate us to stay an extra night. All the workers we encountered were friendly, helpful, and kind. I did see one issue that is not the hotel itself's fault but more a design issue? We were in an ADA room (1601) which has a large walk in shower with a curtain. The shower slopes slightly toward the wall where the drain is but the problem is the 'threshold' into the shower or the 'transition tile' between the toilet area and the shower itself is directly under the shower curtain instead of a few inches out. This means that any water running down the curtain drips outside the shower, past this divider tile, and therefore doesn't slope down to the drain, it instead goes to the drain in the middle of the room by the toilet. Hey, at least there's a drain there, right? Well...there's no exhaust vent. In January, even with the heat cranked up, there was constantly water there. You'd think it would evaporate with how dry the heated air is in the room? No. I cannot imagine how much worse it is in the summer/how bad the mold problem will be. There was some peeling of the paneling along the door frame and pink insulation ballooning out like a bulbous, pink blob, swollen from absorbing moisture. Again, not anyone working theres fault, it's a construction/design flaw, but it's just something i noticed. This makes the bath mat kind of useless because if you set it outside the shower, it's just going to get completely soaked and stay that way the whole time. But i digress. Our stay was great and the hotel was perfectly located for what we were there for. Right by the R/N/W/Q line, a two or 3 min walk from the F/M and E/B/D stations.... very easy to get to anywhere. read more

Worst 3rd party booking and hotel attitude experience we ever had. Booked with Agoda for all inclusive, including fine print. Hotel accepted reservation and payment but insisted on adding a dubious tax to the bill, claiming they are aware of the Agoda incorrect offer, still accepting it! So now you are faced at the check in with the option of a cancellation and attempt to find an alternative hotel you can walk in (obviously not a real option). The hotel rooms are tiny, badly maintained, and all for a price similar to much better hotels in the same location. Only booked due to the attractive offer which turned out to be a bait and switch plot. read more

Modern hotel is comfortable if a little bland. Rooms are small (duh) but the bed was fine, the windows open a little, and there's actually decent enough drawer space. Shower is good-sized considering the overall compactness of the room. The mini-fridge is one of those pull-out drawer things that is picky about closing properly and only chills things so much. The building is very narrow and there are only about four rooms per floor. Not a lot of amenities -- no restaurant or lounge, just some snacks and a continental breakfast in the back of the lobby. The main lobby area is a chaos -- not nearly big enough to handle the people checking in and out and dropping off and picking up luggage. Immediately next door is Souvlaki GR, a very nice and atmospheric Greek taverna that I would recommend. The area is fairly well-served by subways but Central Park, Columbus Circle, and even Lincoln Center are all within a 15-minute walk. read more

Best hotel in NYC. Much less expensive than most hotels there. Great Great staff! Fantastic bed and walk in shower. Only thing that sucks is no coffee machine in the room. But, there is free coffee/espresso in the lobby all day, as well as nice snacks, and wine and cheese in the early evening. Was there during New Years Eve. Just walked a block over at midnight and watched the "ball" drop. No effort on my part, which was nice. And, it's close to everything. Did I mention that the staff was GREAT? GREAT! read more

I stayed at this hotel for two nights as we were spending a few days in the city after a wedding. As advertised, the rooms are kind of on the smaller side which I knew going in. The quality of the hotel was great. The bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean. Our room was street side on the second floor and it was fairly quiet for being so close to the ground. The staff was professional made the check in the checkout process. Very simple. The downstairs lobby had the stereo typical breakfast amenities of water, juice, and coffee, along with some cereal snacks. We didn't use this much, except for when we first arrived, and they were giving us our room. That location was great both for going to Central Park, restaurants, and going to different types of bars and events. read more

I stayed here for two nights earlier this week to attend a concert at Carnegie Hall (located directly across the street). The hotel, room, and staff were all wonderful. As noted elsewhere, the rooms are cozy (small) but very clean, very comfortable and well laid out. Frankly, I would ignore anyone who would dock a star for the size of the room. This is a hotel in MANHATTAN, not the airport Ramada inn. If you're not in bed or in the shower, you really oughtn't be planning to spend any significant time in your room anyway regardless of the hotel you're in. The hotel has a lovely wine & cheese hour every day, free continental breakfast and free snacks in the common area. The staff are knowledgeable, super friendly and eager to assist. Superior value for your lodging dollar. I'm glad I chose this hotel (originally selected, I'll confess, more for its proximity to the concert hall than anything else) and am pleased to provide this glowing review. I'll be staying here again for sure. read more

The Superior room was small. Good for one person but not two. Taking a shower was not pleasant! The shower is about 4x2 which is fine. However the rain shower head was in the middle. My hair got trenched with the shower cap and the soap was a waste since it comes right off as there is no space to move away from water. There was a modern small shower handle but because there was an issue with the knobs I didn't have the option of using it without the rain shower head. Both came on at the same time with water temperature issues as well. Housekeeping did try to assist but indicated a plumber was needed as he confirmed an issue with the shower knobs. Additionally, the hotel charges a daily $28 "resort/facility" fee. Meanwhile, there's no gym, pool, or outdoor space to use. They do offer low quality free wine for happy hour and a very limited "continental" breakfast. The automated machine coffee is not good at all! Needless to say, I did not take advantage of the wine, breakfast, or coffee. For $28, you can get a luxury breakfast outside of the hotel. When I asked about a gym, they offered a pass for $15 a day to use a local gym. Stay at another hotel If you want a no hassle shower and don't want to pay $28 a day for "services" the hotel doesn't have or you won't use. Otherwise a decent hotel. It was clean but staff weren't helpful. They did not offer to fix shower, change rooms, get a credit, or speak to manager. read more

I wanted to give a 5/5, but the damn, the my room was tiny. I came here with my bf, so it was fine. But if you're rooming with someone who you're not accustomed to sharing a tiny space with - I'd go elsewhere. Fun note: A greek place is literally next door. Their food was pretty good! Staff members are great and very nice. The hotel has a small lobby area, but has some drinks available. We actually waited 30 minutes before check in and I was super thirsty, so I was happy to see the drinks. Although the room was tiny.... 1. Bed was comfy. 2. Quiet area; nothing woke me up. 3. This place is a gem! We arrived super early, check in starts at 4pm. Delia quickly assisted us with checking in our luggage and offered us coffee and snacks. She also offered to give us a call as soon as a room was available l, which she did at 12:30 at no extra charge! Throughout the day the hotel has great snacks grab and go. Plus, from 5-7pm they have wine and cheese for all guests. Like wow! The room was beautiful, bottled water in the fridge, bathrobes and very, very clean. We loved out stay! read more

I booked this hotel based on the extremely high reviews. My own review is decent, but I'm surprised others are so enthusiastic. The service was acceptable but no aspect of it stood out. We arrived in pouring rain and I would have liked some sort of assistance to get inside with our luggage. The lobby is fine. The complimentary breakfast gets cleared on the dot after breakfast time ends, if you arrive 5 minutes late it'll all be gone. The rooms are chic though very cozy for two, feels like a pod hotel. The main light in our room was non-functional, but we decided not to mention it when we arrived because we didn't want to deal with the hassle of switching rooms or having maintenance people in our rooms, and we made do with the reading and accent lights. The air conditioner ran but did not cool the room at all, I'm guessing it was either out of coolant or not yet turned on for the summer. We mentioned both issues at check out but the staff did not seem particularly concerned or offer any concessions (we didn't ask for concessions, figured this ball was in their court). Overall a reasonable experience and I'd consider staying there again, but wouldn't go out of my way to seek it out. read more

This was such an EXCELLENT stay and find. Let me tell you about the awesome concierge. ALEXANDRA took excellent care of me when I arrived early and I was given a refresher of the subway. VICTOR answered a lot of my questions and helped me get settled in. Both ELIJAH and YOLANDA made me feel very at home and made sure I had everything I needed snack wise and question wise. I'm surprised they didn't hide from me the first night. There were a few more who I didn't get a chance to get their names but they also made my stay incredibly enjoyable. Next, a full continental breakfast from 7 to 10. Snacks ALL DAY. Wine and cheese 5-6PM every.day. It's a smorgasbord and I can't imagine staying anywhere else because of how close it is to the metros, literally just a block or two for every line. And it's super close to the TurnStyle which is a must visit. I already didn't want to leave the city I love and this stay was particular hard with how great this was. Did I mention the super fancy luxury toiletries?? I am so spoiled now. read more

The hotel is a tucked away gem right across from The Carnegie Hall. They offer free breakfast, wine and cheese hour, and a room with different snacks, coffee, drinks and cookies. The ambience is very nice, the rooms are small yet comfortable, and the decor is updated and modern. They provide you with slippers in the bathroom, a robe in the closet, and sub outlets. There is a parking garage adjacent to the hotel that is reasonably priced and it's walking distance from Times Square yet quiet enough to not hear the bustle. read more

The pluses are that it's a great location and immaculately clean and comfortable. However, what would have made it even better is a coffeemaker in the room and a magnifying mirror in the bathroom. It was not ideal to run downstairs every morning to get coffee. And I wear glasses so putting on make up was a challenge! read more

I had to find a place near the Hilton Midtown for a conference but less expensive than the Hilton because my company is cheap. Pictures and reviews for Carnegie looked good, so I decided to give this place a shot. It was a tiny room, but not so bad once I got used to the size. I liked the shower setup in the bathroom. It was relaxing and efficient. Amenities included breakfast in the morning and a wine and cheese hour each evening. Their dining area, like their rooms, is small. Breakfast was sufficient for the days I had it. The wine/cheese events were much better than I expected, and I was able to enjoy it before going out each night. The personnel impressed me. I was remembered and greeted warmly each day as I came back from my travels. The wine/cheese hostess and concierge were great with local recommendations for food and drink. I liked that they had snacks available in their dining area later in the evening. read more

The location of this place was great, we walked everywhere as it was centrally located. The rooms were so clean! Beds were also super comfy. The complimentary breakfast was a huge plus. My second visit to The Carnegie Hotel was a good as my first stay, which was a couple of months ago. Great price for the location, and you get extras with your room, too--a complimentary wine and cheese hour from 5-6 pm, and a continental breakfast is included. These kind of extras aren't typical in Manhattan - at least not up around Central Park. And, other hotels I've stayed in near or on Central Park South have been SIGNIFICANTLY more expensive. This new, modern, boutique hotel with music-themed decor is wedged in between two bigger buildings. It's easy to miss if you're not looking for it. There are only four rooms per floor and they are small - par for the course in Manhattan so no surprise. When people stay in Manhattan and complain about small rooms in a prime location, I roll my eyes. The front desk staff was welcoming and so pleasant. They made us feel welcome and right at home. We had just missed the evening's complimentary wine and cheese hour, so one of the front desk staff offered to bring a glass of wine for me to take to my room. I really enjoyed this gesture and accepted! The rooms are new, modern, and super clean. We had a King bed and it was quite comfortable. I slept like a baby. The pillows were comfortable, too. The bathroom was nice and modern, and the shower was a decent size. Sink was small. WiFi worked great. The complimentary continental breakfast is served in a smallish area located down the hall from the front desk. Tea, coffee of different types, fresh fruit, bagels, oatmeal, yogurt, toast, muffins, pastries, fruit juices, cereal -- a plentiful array of self-serve breakfast items. Throughout the day and evening, coffee, fresh fruit, cookies, brownies, snack chips, etc. are avail able for hotel guests. We enjoyed taking a short afternoon break and just hanging out and having a cappuccino after walking around NYC for a while. read more

We stayed here for the first time and I have to say I was super impressed! Conveniently located near Central Park, this place is a hidden gem! The rooms are VERY tiny but this place was immaculate! I had sent an email to the hotel staff requesting a lower floor because I have a terrible fear of heights, and my request was accommodated. We stayed on the second floor and it was super quiet. Extremely clean, Eco-friendly, and I LOVED the rainfall shower head. They offer complimentary snacks and drinks 24/7 (which came in handy!), continental breakfast, and also have a wine and cheese hour in the evening. All the complimentary extras were really a delight, and very rare for a Manhattan hotel! Stayed at this cute little hotel (passed it twice) for my short 4 day stay and let me tell you tho pricey it gave me everything I wanted. Daily continental breakfast.....24hr beverage station and snacks oh and a wine and cheese hour from 5-6pm.....two complimentary bottles of water every day with a mini fridge. The front desk was beyond professional in their attire and attitude I was impressed. The room was modern but tiny lol but I was already forewarned about the sizes in NYC. The hotel has 20 floors with drum roll please 4 rooms per floor yes 4 rooms. I didn't use any of the amenities so I can't comment on those. Loved the bathroom the shower amazing it had s small head but that thing was like a fountain then it had something like a rain head above. Bed was comfy pillows too soft I like them kind of firm. In the room tv alarm clock closet has a complimentary umbrella along with iron iron board and safe. Bathroom is restocked with their signature toiletries; if you need toothpaste razors etc they have them at the front desk. read more

This is good basic hotel with good customer service in midtown. I appreciated how clean and tidy everything was. Rooms were small but that is to be expected in the area. Lots of close by amenities in the area which is great! I would stay there again. read more

The staff are extremely hospitable. The general manager poured us wine before we went out to dinner, and they even gave us an umbrella to use in the rain. A few minor flaws in the room though- the toilet seat does not stay up on its own. The windows would not close, however they fixed them by the time we returned to the room. The shower practically flooded the bathroom floor. Overall, this hotel is an affordable, clean, nice place to stay for a short trip. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and the minor flaws are easy to look past. read more

A truly exceptional hotel and one of the best I've ever stayed at. The staff here are some of the best I've come across, everyone is extremely kind and helpful. They're willing to go the extra mile to make your stay better. I had sprained my ankle and as I was hopping back into the hotel the front desk immediately asked me if I'm ok and offered to bring ice to my room. They also have free snacks and drinks at all times in the lobby as well as wine hour and breakfast hour, something you really don't come across anymore. Clean. Decent location. Rooms are tiny. About 2-3 feet from bed to wall. Bathrooms are tiny, too. But the most ridiculous thing is the bathroom design. The flusher is hidden behind where the toilet seat opens up to, so it is inaccessible when the toilet lid is up. Moronic. read more

The staff here is exceptional! They only sell single rooms and 3 of us came. The manager and front desk staff went the extra mile to find a room at sister hotels and eventually offered us a suite at a better rate to keep us together. The manager was really sweet and accommodating.They are close to time square and right next to Carnegie hall. It was hard to find at first but I LOVE a good boutique hotel and I'm looking forward to spending the next few days here! Thanks!!! read more

So disappointing. The room was beyond tiny, not at all like the website portrays. The bed was supposed to be a queen, it wasn't. I have a queen at home, I know how big a queen bed is. This wasn't a queen. Their answer to me was "These are the queen size beds at this hotel". Our room wasn't cleaned or serviced in any way, even AFTER we specifically asked and were told it would be. I've stayed in some bad hotels over the years, they at least made the bed. When I asked about it the next day, the answer was "If someone had an accident on the bed, we would change the sheets, otherwise we don't". This was supposed to be a nice getaway weekend. I'm fully aware that what you get for your money in New York City (at Xmas time, no less) is much less and much smaller than what you'd get for the same amount elsewhere. But this was unacceptable. When I brought my concerns to the staff, they were nothing short of rude. Stay at a Sheraton, Marriott, Hilton, etc. Same price, much nicer, and I'm sure the customer service is better. It couldn't possibly be worse. read more

The Carnegie Hotel is a delightful boutique hotel in a great location. Centrally Located directly across the street from Carnegie Hall and just two blocks up from Central Park. Staff are so warm and welcoming. We were here for our 20th wedding Anniversary and we were pleasantly surprised when a chilled bottle of champagne was sent to our room compliments of the hotel! Stayed here for two nights for a business conference. The location is excellent....steps away from the subway and walking distance to some great (and cheap) restaurants. The free continental breakfast and 24/7 snacks were a nice touch. Although I was placed in a room next to the outside mechanicals, the hum became white noise by the second night and I had no problem sleeping. I would stay here again. read more

Very overpriced for a very small room and bathroom. I stayed alone, but there is no way I could have shared the room. In the room that was used for the breakfast, everyone was bumping into each other. I might have overpaid since everyone is calling it a bargain. I paid over $400.Location is excellent. This is a gem of a hotel. Right across from Carnegie Hall, it was perfect for our NYC visit to hear José Carreras sing. The rooms are beautiful and immaculately clean. The staff is so gracious and welcoming that we felt at home from the minute we stepped into the lobby. Great parking next door and restaurants within walking distance made this the perfect place to stay. We will be back again and again. read more
