    Oxtail Ravioli

We started dinner with an extra dirty martini and a dark and stormy. Asking for blue cheese olives was an after thought after our drinks arrived, but low and be hold they had added them to my drink. Night made! The food was absolutely incredible. I ordered the Steak Diane and it was one of the most tender juicy tenderloins I've had. The truffle mashed potatoes were absolutely divine. 10/10 recommend getting the Steak Diane. My husband ordered the oxtail ravioli and gave it a 8.75/10. He absolutely loved it. The overall ambiance was underwhelming. This was supposed to be a nice anniversary dinner and while we were sitting two feet away from each other we practically had to yell to hear each other. This is not a romantic restaurant. A lot of big groups of dudes drinking and talking way too loud. I wish they would have a wing of the restaurant allotted for couples and smaller parties. Shoutout to Abner and Randy for being so attentive and overall great servers!

Wonderful restaurant at a beautiful resort! Snapper was amazing and came with a mushroom gnocchi in a creamy sauce.

We have 6 daughters and when each turned 13, we took them to the Carolina Dining Room for dinner. It's always an amazing experience, excellent food and service...and up until this year a very good solo rendition of "Happy Birthday" from a wonderful lady who could give Aretha Franklin a run for her money. Now looking for a new tradition to take us back!

CHECK THE INSERT IN YOUR BILL FOLIO: Very good restaurant and excellent service. However, when we saw the 'Dining at Pinehurst' card when our check came, all 4 of us were very upset. The management takes an 'administrative fee' out of the 18% automatically applied to the bill and advises you that you can add to this at your discretion. During our stay we asked around in other restaurants about this practice which has led to restaurant owners being successfully sued in our home state. We were told during our canvassing that the management at Pinehurst takes 9% of the 18% and if any additional tip is left on a credit card, management takes a portion of that as well. Bus persons and bar personnel are usually tipped by the servers themselves--again confirmed by servers that appear to be knowledgeable of Pinehurst practices. Is this 9% an accurate percentage--we do not know, but taking any fee out of the server's tip is a highly questionable practice. We would never return to any restaurant at Pinehurst due to this practice. We doubt leaving a cash tip would address the problem.

Had a wonderful Valentine's Day dinner with my grandmother at The Carolina Dining Room! Staff were incredibly professional & kind; the food was wonderful as well. For an appetizer, we had the seared scallops. My grandmother had the filet mignon & I had the steak diane. These were some of the most tender steaks we have ever had; they were AMAZING. A great night all around & I would definitely recommend The Carolina Dining Room for any special occasion.

We were seated in a back room at a long table, one of three. This room was warm and lovely. One table was already occupied, the other filled up shortly before we finished. From start to finish, our dining experience was wonderful. We did not have to worry about our little ones disrupting other guests, as the other party had little ones too. Our server, Madeline, was absolutely perfect! She was attentive without being intrusive. She had a good sense of humor and guided out decisions for food when we asked. She served us promptly and with a smile and made us feel so welcomed. I wish I could remember what everyone else ordered but I do know that my Pork Schnitzel was incredible! Also huge so I had enough for another meal the next day. When I return I will order the same thing. My husband brought a birthday cake in for me and our server brought that out at the end of the meal with plates and forks for everyone. We forced her to take a piece for her break, which she goodnaturedly did. There is only one tiny tiny thing to mention: It did take a long while for the 5 year old's drink and food to arrive. Not anyone's fault, it was very very busy. But try to explain that to a 5 year old. Rolls were served but they were too spicy for her. Or maybe the butter was spicy? Maybe feed your little ones something beforehand if you go on a busy weekend night, as we did. Kudos to the kitchen for pleasing so many different tastes so much, and for management for hiring Madeline who is a great asset to your restaurant.

The decor…read moreis eclectic (I dined under a large, colorful Dr. Seuss print) with fairly closely-spaced tables that keep the room buzzing. There's an upscale bar in the entry that had several seats open even when the tables were all full. I started with the crab hush puppies. What's not to like about fried dough after all, but I didn't really get much crab flavor out of them. The buttermilk and corn preparation came through more. The entree was a showstopper, though - grilled elk chops with a pomegranate glaze and country mashed potatoes. They were scrumptious, and the al dente vegetables cooked in with the potatoes gave them a nice toothsomeness. One of the best entrees I've had in quite some time. It's nice when a menu gives you a protein choice you don't see everywhere. Parking is fine, with a paved lot in front and spaces on either side of the adjacent street. Service was welcoming and efficient.

At most 8 oz but given what a terrible cut it was irellevant. It was ordered medium rare and it came back medium to well but it was so thin it almost did not matter. It was also smothered with pepper kernals which made it worse. Definitely one of the worst steaks i have ever eaten in my entire life of 67 years. That includes supermarket steaks. Next the whipped potatoes were cold and hard. I guess at some point they were whipped? The $3 surcharge for the creamed spinach was also cold and had no taste. If this were a $10 Food Lion steak i would have been disappointed but for $65 the restaurant ahould be shut down. To top it off, the server who i had to call over as he never checked on dinner saw the steak and agreed. Yet, the restaurant did nothing to cure the issue and to add insult to injury added their 20% tip to the meal since we had a large group. DEPLORABLE!!!! This was absolutely disgraceful how the restaurant could serve a fatty small veiny, tastless piece of $65 steak and not apologize and try to cure it in any fashion. ZERO ACKNOWLEDGMENT. ....but.....they did a great job of making sure the credit card charge went through!!!

Instead, I opted for the crab cakes appetizer which they touted as a signature dish. I was disappointed to find that the cakes were mostly filler and harbored no lumps of crab at all. Curds were so undercooked, they came to the table flat. Pimento was flavorful, but soupy - how on absolute earth do you make watery pimento cheese? Entrees were good. There is a lot of seating here - good for large groups. Waitress spilled a lot of my martini on the way to delivering & as she placed it on the table. She was very pleasant, but shouldn't the spilled half of my drink be replaced? Don't use the QR code to pay!!!! I used it, received "pending" confirmation from my credit card, & manager asked me to let them run it manually because she wasn't "sure if it went through" because their system doesn't tell them. She wasn't polite, but i wasn't really given an option: I had to pay twice because they don't know their own system. I now have two Dugan's charges still pending .... Time will only tell if I'm going to have to take my time to call the restaurant to get them to fix it.
