[[HIGHLIGHT]]The town is absolutely lovely, and this restaurant itself is charming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff was friendly, and we genuinely wanted to enjoy our experience. However, if you need to eat gluten-free due to a medical condition like Celiac disease, please be very, very cautious. Although this establishment claims to offer gluten-free options, there seems to be a concerning lack of understanding of what "gluten-free" actually requires. I asked detailed questions before ordering and was assured that my selection was safe. After the food arrived--and after I had already started eating--I was then informed that while the crepe itself was gluten-free, the filling was not. That kind of distinction should be clearly communicated upfront, especially when a customer specifically asks about gluten-free options. Unfortunately, the same situation happened with my daughter, who also has celiac. To make matters worse, we were charged for both the incorrect meals and the replacements. In hindsight, I should have asked for a manager, but we were there to visit with a friend and I didn't want to make a scene. Our total for three people ended up being over $80 with the tip I still left. I understand that eating out always carries risk when you have dietary restrictions, and I ALWAYS try to approach it with patience and kindness. We were traveling, so we didn't have much choice. But if a restaurant says they offer gluten-free items, there needs to be a basic understanding (by the wait staff AND the kitchen cooks) of ingredients and clear communication. What should have been a fun outing turned into a weekend of being very sick. Our go to brunch spot! This place is very popular but the wait is worth it. Both savory & sweet options of delicious crepes to choose from. My go to is the Pedro which has spicy chicken, rice, beans, cheddar, sour cream & salsa with a side salad. I always choose the apple vinaigrette dressing. Delicious & filling if you want a savory crepe. If you want a breakfast crepe, then try the basic (bacon, sausage or ham, eggs &cheese or all of it), the western (2 eggs, ham, onion, green peppers &cheddar), or le Popeye (2 eggs, bacon, spinach, onion, garlic cream sauce, mushroom & mozzarella). If you want a sweet breakfast, you cannot go wrong with ANY of the waffle choices! For sweet crepes, Marie Antoinette (strawberries & Nutella) is my absolute fave! Parfait crepe has yogurt, strawberries, blueberries, banana & granola, impersonator (peanut butter, banana, honey, optional: add Nutella). Honestly can't go wrong with anything here. We were lucky to find this place on Labor Day as it was one of the only lunch places open in downtown Southern Pines. It is a gem of a restaurant with a variety of breakfast, lunch or sweet crêpes among other food items. It was so good for lunch that we came back the next day for a breakfast crêpe. The lavender almond milk latte was creamy and delicious. I ordered the La Popeye without bacon and it was full of veggies on the inside. My husband ordered the corned beef hash with the egg white option and said it was very good. I highly recommend their salad as their homemade apple vinegar dressing is amazing and I loved the pickled onions on top. Let me start by saying I absolutely LOVE Betsy's. It's honestly one of my favorite restaurants in NC. My issue, however, is that I live 45 minutes away, and this is now the 3rd or 4th time in the past few months that I have driven all the way there during their regularly posted hours, and I am turned away at the door because they decided to close early. They do not update their Google hours or post on any social media when they do this, they just put a sign on the door. Yesterday, I got there at 1pm because their hours are normally until 3pm, and I was turned away when I walked in. (They did have a hand-written sign posted on the door that they were closing at 1, but I didn't see it.) This has just been wildly frustrating that it's happened so often (one time was even on my birthday). I decided to go back today because I want my crepe fix, so I called before I went, and the person who answered the phone, I kid you not, said "yes why wouldn't we be?" when I asked if they were open their normal hours. I feel like I'm being punk'd, and I am skipping Betsy's for now, not wasting any more gas. Moral of the story: if you are driving a bit of a ways to go to Betsy's, definitely call first because they like to be open whatever hours they want, regardless of the posted hours. read more

Great spot located in heart of downtown Southern Pines. Cool place to walk, window shop and pretend you are in Mayberry, just need a Barney. Sister recommended and it was worth the stop, friendly staff, and plenty of seating. I am not a big crepes guy so I went with Chicken Salad Croissant. It was delicious, did a side of fries (Pommes frites), which were also tasty, just a tad too much salt. Wife went with a Panini, she enjoyed it. Love this place! The decor is antiquey and fun. I enjoy an eclectic look and this is perfectly done. My daughter had the lavender/vanilla latte and enjoyed every drop. They have really settled into a good groove and are deserving of local legend status. Despite that, we found the prices were very good and service remained wonderful. This is the most requested breakfast/brunch spot in our house. We live an hour away and will drive just for the food. We've tried more than just their crepes too. The French toast is amazing. If your meal comes with sourdough bread, ask for the raspberry butter. Or just get a side of bread and raspberry butter. I don't know why it took me so long to ask for my own, as I used to steal some from who ever ordered it at the table. I could slather that stuff on most anything. But their crepes - oh man! So soft and delicate. We're suckers for the sweet ones, but they have savory options as well. The restaurant is filled to the brim with tables, so if you don't like crowds, this is not the place for you. Their bathrooms are single occupancy only, and they have framed animals in Victorian clothes to look at as you wait. It's a cute spot for a weekend brunch or meals at other time of the day.
