Original review: Had a rug cleaned by this company, left it rolled up because my son was potty training. I unrolled it after about 2 month of it being stored inside the house and the whole rug was full of dog hair, crusty food, and was still matted down and just felt dirty. The rug is 10'x8' and I vacuumed it when I rolled it out and got more than a cup of dirt out of it. When I called the company to ask if maybe it got missed and not cleaned the lady was extremely rude and defensive and said it was not possible for it to get missed. They may clean carpets well but they are not good as installers. We purchased carpet and vinyl from Carpet One. Very happy with the product but the installation was a nightmare. Too many issues to list. We would not allow these installers back in our home. I have to update this review. After three months in our new home, from moving in, adjusting for our disabled 85 yo dad living with us, an older dog and a new puppy, lots of visitors - our carpets were a MESS! As an Interior Designer, I have tried numerous rug cleaning companies in Reno and Sparks. The quality of the work at Carpet Tender is excellent...a bit pricey but with good results. They are always backlogged and will not allow a customer to book a reservation in advance so you just have to wait the usual 3 weeks to get the work done. The owner, Joe, and his wife Stacy are easy to work with. The front office could use remedial training is how to handle customers. Just a tip...if you want to have your rugs serged, be aware that they use clear shiny thread rather then the same color as your rug. My client does NOT like the shiny reflection. Hopefully there are other alternatives for those who do not want the shine. Otherwise I am once again happy with the results and hope you will be too~!~ read more

We have quite a few Moroccans wool carpets and I was worried about taking them to be cleaned. I had heard good things about the Carpet Tender so we decided to try them. We took our thick wool Berber carpet, handmade by women in the Atlas Mountains to the Carpet Tender and they did not disappoint! Another great job by Ron. I can't say enough good things about the quality of work he does. My carpets are 25 years old and every time he cleans them they look like new again. Love the fact they bring their own ph balanced water. I don't know of anyone else who does that. Most carpet cleaners just hook up to your water spigot. I've had a few of the other popular carpet cleaners clean my carpets over the past several years with not much success. Terrible experience all the way around. I scheduled a cleaning for 2 pm on my move out day and got a call 15 minutes before the cleaning saying they have to cancel my appointment due to the fact I live in a high rise. When I called to figure out a solution with the management the scheduler was very rude and blamed me for the cancellation. Obviously this was a huge set back as the move out condition of the carpets is a huge factor in how much of the security deposit one gets back. Thankfully I found another carpet cleaner called Evergreen and they were able to come out SAME DAY and were very friendly. Don't waste your time here and go with Evergreen or some other local carpet cleaning business. read more

As an interior designer, I work with lots of clients needing carpeting and rugs. In this particular instance, I had a client needing a rug to be cut down. After several emails and conversations, I never heard back regarding scheduling. In fact, when I called to schedule, the representative accused me of having called yesterday and being rude to the staff. First I had about 3000 square feet of flooring installed, about 95% solid surface and the remainder carpet. Joe was great to work with and really stood behind their product and work. I initially had large room rugs cleaned here, twice. I was very impressed both times. The first rug was an 'ancient' Mexican woven rug that while in Florida had received bug damage. Well, CT fixed the rug, added a backing and the wonderful rug lives on. Then I had some other large wool room rugs cleaned and again I was impressed due to damage repair recommendations. Rugs are clean and beautiful again. I then discovered that CT does flooring and wall to wall carpeting. Today my NEW laminate floor is finished and it's great. Apparently they only have one employee. He called in sick and the receptionist never even called us to tell us he wasn't showing up! We called 30 mins after the missed appt and she nonchalantly says 'oh ya I forgot to call you' Next day....same thing happens! I understand people get sick but its extremely unprofessional to not call a customer and let them know. So I got off work early 2 days in a row for nothing. Carpet Tender has done several jobs for us. First, cleaning existing carpets and installing new carpets. Second, cleaning and repairing a family heirloom area rug. And third, creating a custom area rug for our oddly shaped LR. We've been very happy with the quality of work in all cases. Importantly, Joe has been invaluable with his advice on what type of carpet is best for our needs and on what colors will work well with our existing decor. The only downside is their hours are not as convenient as other carpet vendors in the area. But I visited several competitors before Carpet Tender and wouldn't consider going anywhere else. Just bought a 3700 sq foot house. Had the carpet tenders totally re carpet the entire up stairs and I did hard wood on the first floor. Everything was perfect from start to finish. Other companies we have used in the past charge for every little thing. Carpet Tender pre-treats as necessary and the final result is that carpet looks great. I brought in an area rug we use under our kitchen table. Naturally, it had some stains and was matted with dirtier areas where peoples' shoes would constantly hit when sitting. They looked at it look at it and give me an HONEST opinion about the stains (no problem), high dirt areas (no problem) and the matting of the pile (a probable problem area due to the type of carpet fiber). They measured it and gave me a fair price based solely on size with no attempts to upsell stain spotting, stain protection, deodorizing, etc.. She also gave me super speedy service because we had company coming in six days. When I picked it up four days later and spread it out at home, all of her assessments were correct except she was able to unmat the pile better than I expected. Though not perfect, it is under a table, and looks GREAT. I truly appreciate dealing with honest people who give you a true idea of services performed and what the customer should expect. WARNING! SCAM! SCAM! SCAM! They ruin your rug and then try to charge you to fix it! I just threw away our 8 foot wool & silk rug that was totally ruined. They charged us $185 to have it professionally cleaned. When we got it home, the edges curled up, a huge tripping hazard. Even worse, the entire back side was shedding fine light colored dust. When I called, they explained that you should never wash a rug with a glue bonding. ( The average person would not know this, the experts would!) I asked why they washed it instead of telling me not to. I was told "some customers slip through the crack". They then offered me a service to re-bond the backing with silicone for an additional $185. And they said, "it comes with a free cleaning." SCAM!! read more

I had a very bad time the person answering the phone. She was rude and would not give me any info on our carpet. We sent it in on April 5 and expected the rug back within 2 weeks. This did not happen. Every time we called she would not give us any information as she said that if we had a time the clients they would expect the date. We finally received our rug on April 24. Way to long to wait for our carpet. We will not use the carpet tender again due to this person. However, the people that pick up and delivered our carpet were very friendly and nice. I agree with the other reviewer. Run away, run away fast. I had two chairs with stains on them, was told to bring them in to the plant for cleaning. They did not get the stains out and the fabric is no longer soft to the touch. Not only did they still charge me $70 but they tried to say they warned me the stains wouldn't come out.
