Dr. Cosimini and his staff were excellent with my cat Chalky. I'm a first time cat owner and adopted him from a shelter and he's a very shy and fearful cat. Being a first time cat owner, I was super nervous bringing my cat to the vet and felt guilty because it was difficult, for both of us, to get him in the carrier and transport him to the vet. I was afraid that the experience at the vet might make my cat really anxious and he might start attacking the staff, but the Dr. and his staff seem to be cat whisperers and were able to keep him calm by wrapping him in a warm towel. Dr. Cosimini gave me great suggestions such as using a lasagna pan for a water dish and ways to keep up with my cat's oral hygiene. It was overall a great experience, and unless I move far away, I won't go anywhere else for my cat's medical care. read more

I really feel the love here. I'm a long time cat mom and don't trust veteranarians for good reason. My gut is usually right. But the Cats Hospital folks LOVE cats and treat them with kindness, care, and respect. When you call with an issue, they'll help you triage it on the phone for free. When I took my kittens in, the doctor followed up with me on a call I'd made to him about my older cat a few months before. It's just so personal, genuine and warm. I also don't feel price gouging like I do elsewhere (and also the prices are reasonable) and I've never felt pressured to do anything. They're great. There are at least 10 veterinarians within a 10 min drive of me but I'll drive 30 mins to these guys any day. read more

They are understanding if you have financial restraints and work around what you can do. B.S.'s review will not steer you wrong. If you have a cat, and you know you're picky about his/her veterinary care, AND you have a car, bring your cat here for 1st rate quality care. The receptionist is always friendly, and obviously a cat lover (she coo'd and pet my cat while I filled out paperwork). Dr. Cosimini and a vet tech were in the examining room with us the entire time, unlike most appts I've been to where you spend the majority of the appt with the vet tech. Reasons I will drive out of the way to go to Dr. Cosimini 1) He remembers my cats and their special issues. 2) He takes the time to answer all my questions (and I have a lot of questions). 3). He will weigh pros and cons with me regarding the best treatment for my cats instead of just saying that they need everything under the sun. For example, my cats are purely indoor cats. When i asked if the other vaccinations or heartworm preventative meds were necc for my babies, he said, nope! They are at low low risk, and it's probably not worth it, instead of playing into my paranoid fears and having me spend a buttload of $$. 4) the vet techs here are FIRST RATE. They handle my cats as if they are their own pets, clean the carriers that get, um, extra love from my cats on the trip to the vet... they go above and beyond. 5). they have the cleanest examining rooms. I shopped around last fall (2006) for a vet while one of my cats was displaying some signs of illness. After checking out two other facilities, I'm staying here. ETA: one of my kitties got very very sick last year, which necessitated a week long stay at the ER hospital. When the hospital sent lab work and info to him, Dr Cosimini called to check in with me, answered questions I had, and was SO supportive (as were the rest of the staff). After I brought sickly kitty home (has feline diabetes), Dr Cosimini took panicked phone calls from me when I wasn't sure how much insulin to give to my cat. Conclusion: If you are looking for a veterinarian that cares about your cat, look no further. The staff follow up, and you never feel rushed when you have questions. read more

We have used The Cat's Hospital for 13 years or so, and this year have been particularly active as we serially adopted 2 Maine Coon kittens and have an older cat with a terminal health issue. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and never pushy about doing anything. Dr. Cosimini always takes the time to explain what is going on. Jaymie, Judy and the vet techs are helpful and friendly and all add to the positive experience. I have had dental work done twice on one cat, and another cat never needed it. I mention that because it is one of the pricier services, but in our case the cat who did need it changed personality and eating habits when she had some decay cleared up. Our cat is reaching the end of her days, and I can't say enough about the well-reasoned, thoughtful, and kind care we've been getting for her. All of the staff are amazing and don't make you feel like a crazy cat person (even if you know you are). I've had 4 cats over the last 28 years, 2 feral Maine Coons, and more recently two Maine Coon sisters from a cattery, all of whom have been cared for at some point by the professional and compassionate staff at The Cat Hospital. The reason I am writing this review is because I stumbled across a yelp review listing for The Cat Hospital while searching for their telephone number in order to make an an annual check-up appointment. I took a moment to read through all of the reviews and noticed there was a single negative review among all of the others which seemed very positive. I am not a veterinarian, however, I can assure you after 28 years of caring for 4 cats, I have developed an understanding of what is expected of me to engage the vet to ensure my cat's health is the best it can be. The negative review didn't make sense for a few reasons: 1) I have ALWAYS been asked to bring a stool sample when visiting the clinic for annual check-ups or a visit where a stool sample might be relevant to diagnosing a health issue. This is not only true for the The Cat Hospital, but other vets who've provided care for my first cat. 2) When you have two cats in the house the complexity of diagnosing potential parasite issues is more difficult because you can't be sure which cat the stool sample is from. 3) I have never felt Dr. Cosimini has been forceful in his approach with regard to wellness visits or when there has been a health issue. He has a consultative approach and depending on each situation he will patiently explain the diagnosis and options for treatment. 4) A $175 vet bill for two cats?... welcome to the world of healthcare! If you want quality care you get what you pay for. Personally, I like Dr. Cosimini and his staff, and for that matter it's the reason I took the time to write this review. However, liking my vet is not enough to entrust the health and wellness of my cats to someone. Dr Cosimini's clinical expertise is what matters and has certainly proven invaluable in keeping my cats healthy over the years. Dr Cosimini and his staff are flat out AMAZING. Like other people have said, the techs are absolutely top rate and treat my cats as their own. When my apartment was having a bug treatment last fall, we called frantically looking for a number of a place to board our cats for the day. The tech on the phone said, "What day? We can take them both!" and they only charged us for cage space. Our cats actually LIKE going to Dr Cosimini, and they have both received exceptional care. Gus was only 7 weeks old when we got him, and Dr Cosimini and his staff gave us all the information you could ever want when you first get a kitten. When Gus was a little too sluggish to our liking after his neutering surgery, they had us come in for an appointment the next day at no charge (he was fine - we had, as humans, set our recovery expectations FAR too high), and the day after that, he was perking up again, and tackling Jill again the day after that. Jill is almost 4 and already has some arthritis in her hips, along with some respiratory malformations, and he was able to give us suggestions for both (which HELPED). Gus is not a huge cuddler with strangers, yet he fell asleep in Frankie's arms when he was in for a check-up. Jill, who is usually very cautious about strangers, will chase a laser pointer in the exam room. Seriously, folks, something about this vet office exudes comfort and safety to my animals (and to me!). I recommend Dr Cosimini and all his wonderful help with 15 stars!! I just got back taking my cat to see Dr Cosimini and was very impressed. The vet tech was incredibly nice, social, and careful with my cat. They asked lots of questions to get to know me and my cat and patiently answered all of my questions (there were tons!). I was especially impressed that they didn't try to sell me on expensive things, like teeth cleaning, and instead sent me home with dental care cat food plus the full rebate information. I can't stress enough how nice the doctor and the vet tech were and how good they were with my cat (she can be a brat sometimes) - they seemed wholly concerned with her well-being and comfort. His facility is very clean and state-of-the- art, with computers in each examining room, that takes a picture of your cat and details the medical records. I wish I were a cat! I got a sphynx kitten in July and had an uncomfortable experience with a vet I didn't trust before I came to The Cats Hospital. I had to go with my gut since it's my first cat, thank god I did. Our first visit with Dr.Cosmini went really well. Jamie is the secretary, she loves my kitten Luna and was so sweet and patient. Suzie was the Dr's assistant/vet tech , and Luna immediately was purring in her arms and cleaning her face. They put a blanket down on the table so Luna wouldn't be cold, the whole check up Luna was calm and that makes me comfortable. Suzie gave us a tour of the hospital, showed us the room for surgery, I love how open they are. Dr.Cosmini is soft spoken, calm, very professional and understanding that this is my baby we are talking about! We had Luna spayed last week. I was terrified, to say the least. The Cats Hospital staff were very understanding and told me I could call however many times I wanted to check up on her. Dr.Cosmini assured me Luna would be fine. I asked him if we could use a different anesthesia for the spay, because sphynx cats can have heart trouble from the most common one used. He was totally fine with it and explained everything thoroughly. Dr.Cosmini is so available, I've had a few questions and called, he gets on the phone, explains with patience and answers my questions. It's hard to imagine a better veterinary experience than that of the Cats Hospital. In fact, I don't think it's possible to be better than it. I've been taking my cat, Rob Roy, here for about five years, and he and I are beyond happy. Over the years, Rob Roy has had numerous medical issues. He's sixteen now and has some renal function issues. The doctors at Cats Hospital (formerly he saw Dr. Cosimini but he now sees Dr. Lennon) give him such wonderful care. When he gets his blood drawn, they are so good with him, and I always receive prompt calls with the results. He has also had he teeth cleaned (a procedure that requires anesthesia) twice, and both times went off without a hitch. I feel so comfortable trusting the care of my little guy with the people at the Cats Hospital. You can tell that everyone who works there really loves cats and has the best interest of you and your animal in mind at all times. Even the receptionists are thoughtful and engaged with the care of your animal! Recently, I moved out of the immediate area, but I wouldn't dream of switching doctors. It's worth the extra drive for the excellent service and familiar faces. read more

My family and I have used many vets around Boston, and Dr. Cosimini is by far the kindest, most skilled, and most knowledgable. If there is a health issue, he diagnoses and treats it accurately. He does not push unnecessary and expensive treatments. He will answer any question, and calls back asap in emergencies. His staff are professional, and the examining rooms are very clean. It makes a huge difference taking your cats to a vet that does not see dogs. Cats will be calmer, but most important, Dr. Cosimini and his staff genuinely love cats. I first met Dr. Cosimini when my now late cat was not properly diagnosed at VCA Rotherwood. Although he had only met my cat once, his staff called regularly during his chemo treatments that were done elsewhere. I can't say enough about how great he is. He puts my new cat at ease and plays with him. His techs and staff all come into the examination room to greet my cat. He has boarded there as well and they cater to his needs, especially when he gets loud! Love him! read more

I adopted a cat from SPIN who had seen Dr. Cosimini, so I took my cat there. It was a great experience. The staff and the vet were all very caring toward my cat. They treated my cat as though he were the most important cat in the world. One staff member even kissed him on the head! They suggested I use a type of cat food that cleans the teeth and gave me a bag of food with a rebate to get it free. They told me which shots were unnecessary as I have an indoor cat. My girlfiend and I recently visited the Cat's Hospital as new clients and initially we were very impressed. The reception area is clean and the woman we spoke to on the phone seemed friendly, if not a tad bit pushy. The woman who sat at the front was kind as well. Initially we were very happy and were both impressed with the nice tech who seemed to genuinely like cats. The exam room was spotless and the computerized file system was impressive as well. First, we did not see Dr. Cosimini, but we saw a young woman named Dr. Lennon. We were not aware that we were going to see this veterinarian, as my girlfriend had read reviews on yelp and wanted to see Dr. Cosimini. Second of all, it was very clear that she was a new veterinarian as her verbose use of mostly textbook terms didn't help anything. She also stated that she had only started in October of that year. This concerned us both, and we were unsure as to why we were seeing someone so inexperienced. The appointment was very long, which is usually good, but most of the constant speaking didn't clarify anything and we felt too intimidated to ask questions. I am sure that my girlfriend made the office aware that money was an issue for us, however, Dr. Lennon continued to push an expensive dental, which we felt was not necessary and not something we would be able to afford at the moment regardless. Rather than offering cheaper alternatives, Dr. Lennon continued to browbeat us into scheduling a dental and even made us feel badly that we couldn't do this for our cat, at least, that's how it felt. Dr. Lennon also stated that our cat was overweight, but commented at the end of the appointment that besides the tartar and gingivitis issues, the cat was "fabulous." At this point, she failed to even offer any sort of diet or weight loss plan that worked for our needs. I hope Dr. Cosimini is better than Dr. Lennon, because my fiance was not impressed with the service received. We will likely be looking for another veterinarian in the near future. read more

Dr. Cosimini and his team are fabulous! Jamie & Judy and the team know all about my baby Gillian's issues as soon as I call! I have been going there since Gillian was a kitten, so for about 13 years now! Luckily I came across the Cat's Hospital when I was living in Natick. Now, even though I am several towns out, it is worth trip! Gillian has had chronic asthma and allergies since birth, so she has always been high maintenance. Recently, we have seen some kidney issues and there have been several times where I have called the office in a panic, emailed and paged Dr. Cosimini (sometimes all in one day!). Each time he responds quickly, listens to my concerns,recommends next steps, provides insight, education and moral support. Seriously, I wish human doctor offices took the time to know their patients 1/2 of what the Cat's Hospital does. In addition to the non-tangible perks, I always feel that I am provided with the most up to date and appropriate information and next steps. They really understand all of the unique issues of cats verses other animails. Dr. Cosimini also works seemlessly with my emergency vet as well, calling with information received, helping me to interpret blood work, procedure results, etc. The cat's hospital provides an excellent service and treats their patients as a whole being while also taking care of their owners! I've just adopted 2 feral kittens and thought I would try out Dr. Cosimini after reading these reviews. My cats were due for their second round of shots, yet they were not given any yesterday at their first visit. Dr. Cosimini explained that they could be pushed out a month. In addition, I was told that I would have to bring in 3 more stool samples (at about $25/cat) at the following appointments. When asked why this was necessary, the receptionist explained that they can't catch 100% of parasites at once. Finally, one of my kittens is having a harder time acclimating to humans and still hisses quite a bit (he's come a long way though in 3 weeks), and Dr. Cosimini prescribed him Zanex. Willie isn't even 3 months old! Feeling swindled by my $175 bill I called around and found out that they should have received their shots yesterday, and had it been stretched out any further, they would have had to start the vaccination process over again (more $$ for the vet), continuous stool testing given they are indoor cats is completely unnecessary, and time and patience will bring Willie around, not drugs. I've made an appointment for next week at another area vet for the same amount of $ that includes both of their shots. I admit I'm partially upset at myself for not speaking up while in the office, but really I just want to make sure others don't make the same mistake I made! My boyfriend and I recently adopted an adorable kitten from a litter that was living on the street. My mom adopted two from the litter as well, so we have a pretty good gauge of the care we're receiving from Dr. Lennon and the Cat's Hospital, since they need roughly the same appointments and procedures done at the same time. I read great reviews on Yelp, but was still nervous taking Willow in for her first appointment. Everyone there was wonderful. They were so excited to see an adorable little kitten and it felt like the entire staff came out to crawl on the floor and peek in on Willow. They all made cooing noises and spoke in silly accents to her and I think it really made her first appointment much easier. We were running late and I was getting nervous they would be upset with us, but they treated us calmly and had me fill out a form concerning her eating/drinking/urinary habits that also asks routine questions about food/litter and the like. They have us fill out this form each time we come in, which is nice because we can write all over about any and all concerns and the staff can be ready to answer our questions. During this time they also took the stool sample to check for worms and we were brought into an examining room before we knew it. The vet tech (a male, who's name I'm forgetting) was great. They have a computer and with a web cam that they use to photograph your cat on each visit that they put in her records. He took her picture, weighed her, and then Dr. Lennon came in. The first visit was very calm and they let Willow run around and explore the exam room a bit which was nice. Dr. Lennon was wonderful and talked in silly voices to Willow which she loved. We had about a bazillion questions and between Dr. Lennon and the tech, they were all answered. They even sent us home with samples and more literature than we could ask for. Of course, Willow needed her 2nd distemper shot, which Dr. Lennon administered beautifully. She put out some food to distract Willow and used such a tiny gauge needle that Willow only turned around after it was all over to see what just happened. No crying! My mom says her two cried like babies when they got their shots, and that's for a vet we've gone to and trusted for years (I moved out of the area, hence Dr. Lennon). We recently brought Willow back for her last kitten appointment, complete with rabies shot and 3 distemper shot. Again, even with 2 separate needles, Dr. Lennon did such a great job Willow didn't even flinch. I also forgot the stool sample, but they told me it wasn't a problem and just to bring it by the next day. Willow is about 15 weeks and we had read about spaying with a "Friends of Animals" certificate to reduce the price (we're on an extremely tight budget right now) but decided to have her spayed at the Cat's Hospital instead. Dr. Lennon and the staff were very supportive of our need to cut costs and told us which vets on the list (who accepted certificates) were our best bets. Once we went home and crunched the numbers, we decided it was in ours (and Willows!) best interest to go with someone so familiar and caring, despite the money. What's also nice is that at the end of each visit, you get a print out (complete with the picture they took) of all the charges explained, along with a general timeline of when she will need other appointments/follow ups/shots, etc. If any shots are administered during the visit or any medication is given, the printout also has explanations and directions so that when you get home and forget what they told you, it's all right there. In summary, whenever I go to the Cat's Hospital I feel like they really have Willow's best interest in mind and it puts my mind at ease. I couldn't ask for a better vet experience! read more
