We came here to redeem the vouchers we won during the F1 event the Sunday before (it was also Sunday and also a race day again). It was pretty warm outside and I asked if we could watch the race inside. At first, I was told they can't play anything but football on the inside TVs, which was completely understandable and I was not going to ask for again nor be upset about. But the bartender was kind enough to put it on anyway. Please don't get him in trouble for it, he got you a new regular!!!! Anyway, we got burgers, fries and a couple of drinks. Everything was great! I loved my Paloma, it was made with mezcal and was so good with right amount of fruit and smokiness. Burger was very good too: flavorful, juicy, and pretty hearty. Definitely will be back! It was my second visit here and I'm confidently adding this place to my favorite bars :D

Cute photo opportunity on the building!

Fast service! Super cute set up. And delicious! Parking can be a nightmare in this area, but we got lucky today. This is a bar, but we only got food. The environment and staff was super welcoming, and I'll def be back.

The Cavalier is a fun bar in East Austin that was heavily Halloween decorated this past weekend. We went to check it out as part of the mini golf fundraising event for Healing With Horses Ranch. I think they won the best hole of the event too! We attempted to putt putt, donated via the QR code on the cute donkey, and tried the Things That Go Bump in the Night cocktail along with the fried artichokes which we liked. The Halloween decorations were a nice touch. They also had screens playing the UT Austin game and thankfully UT pulled it out in the end. Hook 'Em! If I'm in the area again, I would definitely go have another drink and some food at this bar!

Came back to redeem our won gift vouchers from last week. The bar tender was nice enough to put on our desired tv program. The burgers and tots here were pretty good. Still enjoy this bar the 2nd week around.

Cute spot- unique like Austin. Good food! Try the tallow fries- bit salty : great for drinks! The hot yolk was really great! The chicken wings were a hit! Great atmosphere inside.... And we were there for a late lunch! Have fun!

The service was great. This was a special menu for Mardi Gras and I was expecting more from the shrimp po boy and beignets. Other than that, the bar is great! Can't wait to go back and try their actual menu

I did this bar/restaurant in my neighborhood. The comfort food menu has something for everyone. Outdoor seating and frozen drinks, can't be beat! Friendly service.

This was our first stop on St Patrick's Day. We came in at noon to have a couple beers and some food. It was pretty busy but the bartenders were quick to get thru the line. We grabbed our beers and placed our order for Fish and Chips. Food came out quickly and the fish was great. Fried perfectly and not greasy at all..it came with a side of fries. Gene the bartender was really friendly the whole time we were there and made sure we had beers in our hands..we have also been here for Brunch and the food was great also..this place is a great spot to just come in and chill out..have some great food and a couple drinks. Always a pleasant experience here.

I honestly can't believe I've never written a review here! We frequent The Cavalier weekly sometimes multiple times a week. Their food, service and drinks are always consistent and they have daily happy hour and BOGO burgers on Mondays. They're currently having a Krampus themed pop up bar right now with really unique drinks. This neighborhood gem is one of a kind and we can't rave enough about how much we love it.

Best Old Fashioned I've had in months. Fantastically skilled, thoughtful bartenders and a totally chill atmosphere that invites you to hang out and stay awhile. I'm especially grateful that they option to screen Jurassic Park instead of the presidential election results... Still probably drank to much, but more out of joy than stress and terror.

Who Dat, this dat. Cajun inspired, Saints loving local eatery and bar. It's an absolute must. Brunch is out of this world. It's hard to say what my favorite brunch item is, but there are two always in the running. Biscuits and gravy is always the dish that pops out at me. But the biscuits with andouille sausage are an are to die for. Andouille sausage makes this dish so tasty and savory. If you have never had andouille sausage you better give this a whirl. And then there is shrimp and grits, definitely some of the best I have ever had, coming in at a close first to anything I have had in NOLA. They always have specials and once I had debris and grits. I thought I had gone to heaven. I can honestly say, there is not a bad meal on the menu. The deviled eggs are an absolute must. I love their Bloody Mary's and the beer selection handles all desires. Can I also mention the King Cakes that are available until Fat Tuesday, scrumptious delight. My son swears they are better than Gambino's. The servers and bartenders are always so friendly and eager to please. The service is on point. Sweet patio space if you choose to be outside and inside reminds you that you are part of the "Who Dat Nation." Crawfish boils are about to begin and they are great. Everyone is welcome here. Treat yourself to a great experience and give the Cavalier a try. You will never be disappointed I promise! And ps, 4 legged friends are always welcome!

Food: 3.5/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 The Swenson Burger was pretty solid, but the star of the show was the Caribbean Spiced Fries. We went for lunch around 11:30 a.m. We ordered and got our drinks quickly, but the food took about 40 minutes to come out. It was a nice neighborhood bar. They have special events happening daily, so that is pretty neat. They also have an area with a pool table and darts.

I'll start by complimenting the staff! Everyone we encountered - bar tender, server both - had a great sense of humor and were a pleasure to engage with. They treated us to a round of shots after we had a few rounds. Generally the vibe of the crowd is very friendly and we made some new friends to hang with part of the evening. I did not have the opportunity to eat anything as we came from dinner BUT I did hear from three separate people that the carrot cake is to die for. Who would have thought?

Regardless of the food or ambiance the server is the face of the establishment. Bad service can easily lead to a bad review. In this case the waitress, when she finally showed up, was not friendly. She was indifferent, like we were bothering her, and had a borderline RUDE attitude. The clincher was her assumption on who was paying the bill. We waited a good ten minutes for her to initially show up. When she got to the table the first thing she asked for was a credit card to cover the drinks we ordered; which I thought was strange since our family was sitting at a table and ordering dinner. After the food was delivered she never returned to check on us. Other servers had to get us refills and were happy to do so. When she finally returned at the end of the meal with the bill , all smiles of course, she had already run the credit card without ever giving us the bill to review??? The card she asked for, for the drinks, was NOT meant to pay the bill. We were going to split the bill but since she already ran the card the cardholder didn't feel comfortable asking her to rerun the card. This was VERY awkward!! None of us have EVER experienced anything like this ever!! I wish I had gotten her name. I'm giving a 2 star review because everyone though the food was good.

Finally made our first visit so we could try "the best fish & chips" in the Austin area. The service was enough to want me to go back hopefully for us in this area they end up somewhere close by as I know how hard it is to find good workers. Pretzels were good! The mushy peas were yummy and added an authenticity to the dish. I didn't really use the curry sauce that also came with the dish. To me it doesn't go with fish or chips. "Nosh & Bevvy Won't Forgive Me for All the Ways They Wronged Me"…read more That title is meant to be ironic. After more than fifteen years as a customer, I made one mistake: a four-dollar tab discrepancy on a day when I had just been turned away from a dental appointment because my blood pressure was too high for treatment. I was upset, distracted, and wanted to be around people I believed were my friends. That was the last day I ever stayed there as a customer. Let's go down the list. I have been accused of skipping out on my tab. The truth is that after fifteen years of faithful patronage, there was one incident involving approximately four dollars. I had added items to my order, paid cash, and made a mistake. One mistake in fifteen years. After that happened, I became concerned that I would continue to be treated as though I couldn't be trusted. In my experience, comments about unpaid tabs continued to surface. Rather than create another misunderstanding, I made a point of being generous. On the very next occasion I tipped Charlie more than fifty percent. Instead of feeling appreciated, I arrived the next time feeling insulted when the entire amount was simply pocketed without so much as an acknowledgment. Maybe others see that differently. That's how it felt to me. The situation became even more disturbing when interactions began taking place outside the bar itself. While standing in front of my own home, I experienced conduct that I considered harassment. As a result, I filed a police report and have the corresponding case number in my email records. What disturbed me even more were stories that reached me through people connected to my former partner. According to what we were told, false rumors were being circulated claiming that my ex-girlfriend had committed suicide. Whether people thought this was gossip, entertainment, or somehow harmless, it was not. The psychological harm caused by spreading something like that is difficult to overstate. Shame on everyone involved. What you don't know is Satara an I  spoke with witnesses that completely implicated Gilbert in the rumor. What strikes me now is that I nearly forgave all of this. I removed earlier reviews because I genuinely wanted to move on. I thought it was over. I thought everyone could move on with their lives. Apparently not. If people insist on dragging the issue back into the light, then here it is. The reality is that I don't even particularly miss the place. What I do object to is being disrespected. When a business chooses to disrespect a customer who supported it for fifteen years, there are consequences. One of those consequences is that customer telling his side of the story publicly. A Message to the Staff: If I believe I am being harassed in public--whether at Night Owl or anywhere else--I will pursue every legal remedy available to me. And Sam, for what it's worth, I am sorry that your employees have represented your business in a way that ultimately cost you a longtime customer and the loss of business from everyone else that read & took this review to heart as a warning & again, Sam & Charlie, for what it's worth I wanted to make all of this go away.  Fifteen years. One four-dollar mistake. And somehow I'm still the one expected to apologize when I feel like my partner and I were the ones most wronged. Because I'm not a completely vindictive man. If I get an apology from every employee that works building that knows me, In writing, I will remove this review. -- Mad Dashiell
