I got a Coors Banquet, which was nice and refreshing, but comes in at about 5% ABV, so I needed two to feel something. Luckily, the beers here are super cheap and plentiful. A lot of the fun of visiting a bar is the people you meet along the way. We met some crazy (but harmless) characters here, which made the visit memorable. Oh, the conversations that can happen when you're three-to-seven Coors Banquets in! Doghouse Saloon also has a pool table in the back, as well as TVs playing sports. It was a little late, but they were super busy with a large party in a private room. Once we got in and got seated, the delightful server took excellent care of us. My wife wasn't really hungry so she just nibbled off my plate. I started with a half of a wedge salad, which was delicious. They had a special on a piece of paper that night, which was a smoked pastrami, burnt ends sandwich with homemade rye bread. It was glorious! Very creative and fun. Since I don't love fries, they were kind enough to substitute deviled eggs as my side dish. I didn't know there would be an up charge for that but it's okay because they were delicious. We each had two drinks from the bar and they were made very well. They have a huge wine, seller and a great selection as one would expect by the name of the place. My Irish ancestory kicked in and I had the special. The Sample Room's take on Shepherd's Pie was excellent. I also had an appetizer of Gizapaco (their take on gazpacho) which was also quite good. The fried burrata was a big ball of cheese hanging out in a dish of vodka sauce, topped with cashew pesto, parm and served with crostini. It was lovely, and I wish I would have just ordered this and ate it all myself. We sat outside on the outdoor patio, which I would not recommend during the summer. There were so many flies!
