Whatever you do Folks, Do NOT Patronize (Give your Business/Hard earned money) The Verizon Store in the Phillipsburg Mall (Phillipsburg NJ). They are the most Dishonest, Awful people I have ever encountered. I first thought it was an employee, Justin, that was the problem and had lied/mislead and cost me but after returning to speak to the Owner/Manager Johnny, I realized that it was a taught strategy and he was even more appalling. *New* phone from TCC Wireless found to be rooted: On Tuesday (2/3/15), I bought what I thought to be a new Moto Droid Maxx for my son. Though the box wasn't sealed, the phone was in good shape -- I guess I just thought it was one that had been previously opened and demoed in-store. Unfortunately, the clues kept accumulating: there were a couple minor scuffs on the case, the power supply didn't look like previous Verizon supplies we'd owned, and there was no user manual in the box. On a hunch, and after a bit of googling, we were able to determine that the phone had already been rooted!?!? So, the *new* phone I had been sold was already out of warranty! If I had bought it used, I would have deemed the phone's condition to be "Very Good" -- *not* "New" (for example, per Amazon's and eBay's condition criteria). On Friday, the store accepted the return without question and gave me a full refund (I worked with Johnny on both the purchase and return). Now, not knowing why the previous owner returned the phone leaves me unable to speculate much. But to give the store the benefit of doubt, such a thing might happen innocently; perhaps somebody returned it with a legitimate reason unrelated to the device itself -- after all, it looked to be in good shape, and there are no outward signs of being rooted. But I would expect such a phone to be returned for proper repackaging and refurbishment instead of simply being placed back on the stockroom shelf.
