Pinconning has been the Cheese capital of Michigan for over a hundred years. While other businesses have left the Cheese House stayed. Back in 1915 Dan Horn conceived the old fashioned Pinconning cheese which is still the pride of mid-Michigan. There's something about the way they age cheese that makes it taste better than store bought. As I went older and sharper the taste improved and the texture was definitely creamier. One of their more enviable practices is offering free samples. Most stores can't or just won't do it. It's great for me. I don't always remember what level of sharpness I like and it tends to vary from visit to visit, anyway. There are plenty of consignment products and supporting items like chips, crackers, jellies and pickled products...to name a few. The cheese lady is super friendly and happy to answer your cheesy questions. The store is huge and there's plenty of parking. They even have a few photo ops as you enter! 09/23

Me and the homies saw the billboard for THE Cheese house and we knew that it was destiny and we had to stop. let's just say it did not disappoint, the cheese was cheesing and vibes were vibing. the service was beyond incredible, some would even say cheeseirific. me and the boys are cheeseaholics and we purchased the smokey cheese curds. Lemme tell you what...these curds made my mouth wet! incredible flavor in the smokey curds reminded me of my famous grandfathers smoked raccoon tail! Thank you so much for bringing me and others so much pleasure by blessing us with the ability of tasting your cheese on such a long journey - Love, The Cheese Brothers!

Get the mouse selfie! I have dozens by now and they mark my trips north

I thought I'd update my review since so many reviews here are greatly outdated- I stop here on each and every trip north and this week had a Ladies weekend with friends who had NEVER stopped here before so I insisted! This is just a fantasyland of cheese curds, spreads, chips/crackers/pretzels for dipping! And of course the wall of licorice, lol! (Literally every flavor of licorice!) We gathered up a small feast for the car, took the group selfie with the mouse and back in the road! Every time I've ever stopped, the very nicest ppl we're working so ignore the outdated reviews on that!

Excellent service. Called ahead to see if they had a specific cheese that my kids loved. Phone call was pleasant and helpful. When we got to the store, it was just as pleasant. Checkout line was pretty busy and took a little longer than I would like but it's a nice store and they have lots of cheese

Lots of crackers and other stuff that goes with cheese. Yes, marked up, but do you want to wait until you get to Meijer?

Meh. I like cheese, I'm just not in love with theirs. Jalapeño cheddar seemed like it wasn't in the cheese, just in the container.

You will be welcomed with a very intelligently trained staff, that are more than willing to help you find a delicious treat to take home. It doesn't take an expert of any consumable field to appreciate the wide variety (from entry level tastes to high-end luxuries) of cheeses, oils, wines, brews, chocolates, and other artisan charcuteries that is offered. Though they are a high end cheese retailer, that doesn't mean you can't enjoy it! Their prices for cheese is actually rather affordable for you and a friend to indulge in some high end cheese. One of their finest touches, is that they are not trying to scam you or make a quick buck. Often, high end consumable retailers will be happy with trying to pair you with only the most expensive wine and cheese. This is never the case with Artigiano's staff, as they do not pressure you into making a purchase that you could possibly regret. Worth Browsing, but I'd Skip the Food…read more Willi's Sausage is part meat market, part general store and part sausage diner--and unfortunately, it feels like it hasn't quite decided what it wants to be in the middle of a very tourist-focused market. We stopped in specifically hoping to get a good German bratwurst. What we received was much more like a hot-dog-style sausage than what we would consider a traditional bratwurst. It was good enough, but it definitely wasn't the authentic German brat we were hoping to find. It tasted more like something you might purchase prepackaged from a grocery-store deli than a fresh brat from a specialty sausage shop. We also ordered a pickle, which was actually very flavorful. It was served whole in a Ziploc bag, which was a little unexpected, and while the flavor was good, the skin was extremely tough. The biggest disappointment was the disconnect between the meat market and the food being served. With the sausages and other products displayed in the meat cases, based on their in store sign, we expected something fresh and house-made. Instead, our meal gave us the impression that many of the prepared ingredients may be purchased premade rather than being the same type of homemade products the market appears to specialize in. We sat at a quaint, little table where we were served after we ordered at the counter. The staff was nice but not overly friendly. There's an opportunity here to make the food counter a showcase for what's being sold in the butcher cases--fresh sausages cooking, great smells filling the store and customers getting to taste the products before taking some home. That would make the whole concept come together. As it is, I'm not sure Willi's has a firm grasp on its identity yet. I'd still stop in while exploring Frankenmuth to browse the store and meat market, but based on our experience, I'd skip eating here and look elsewhere for a good German
