We went here for breakfast both days we stayed at the H hotel. Croque madame and pancakes on day 1.... I had never had the former and it was certainly rich and creamy and delicious. Daughter said the pancakes were fluffy and perfect. She ordered them on day 2 also! We enjoyed sitting by the cozy fire. Lovely ambiance. Hubs and I split the Cafe Omelette this morning and it was probably the best omelet I've ever had. Who would have thought Brussels sprouts, Delicata squash, and Gouda would be so incredible in an omelette? I wish I could have it all over again! Of note, also, was their exceptionally accommodating staff. Cynthia went out of her way to help us get a reservation for my MIL's birthday breakfast and we were so grateful. I really like café, zinc. The food is good and it's got a very cool atmosphere. In the summertime, you can sit outside and it's really really nice. The people that work there have always been very attentive without being overbearing. It's not quite a four, but it does deserve a 3 1/2. read more

We were out of town and looking for a nice place to get lunch, and with Zinc we were not disappointed! Located as part of the H hotel it had exactly the vibe we wanted! Zinc has a very European feel, large open space with lots of windows, modern decor and a fireplace. Service was empecable - immediately approached by two waiters to fill up water glasses, followed up by a friendly and upbeat main waitress. Food was also very good. We had a beautiful meal here. The decor and vibe is so stylish. My husband was raving about the men's bathroom decor. Obviously I didn't get to see lol. He got salmon with pomegranate sauce. The potatoes were crisp and cooked well, and he really liked the Mediterranean flavor angle and the sauce. 5 stars. I got the seafood Cioppino in a red sauce that was really yummy, too. Loved it . The food was healthy, and we felt good about eating it, which is a plus for a dinner. Our neighbors' fillets looked nice, too. Cafe Zinc is a favorite of mine. The ambiance and my favorite server Luciano keeps me coming back time and time again. The food is really good, but pricey. However, when you combine the flavors, service and the experience, it's worth it. The Grand American for breakfast is my most purchased. They have very yummy gluten-free bread made in house. I have had many other meal options for breakfast, lunch and dinner and never been disappointed. They change their menu to ensure a diverse offering of flavors, from simple to fancy. And let's not forget the fresh bakery items. The dining room has a beautiful fireplace which sets the tone as soon as you walk in. They have a beautiful outdoor seating option. You can dine in, dine outside or grab takeout. In the winter they do the dining pods which are beautiful, and a fun way to enjoy your meal. I am here almost weekly for one reason or another. This place is incredible ! A very classy, high end restaurant where you might not expect it. The service is A+ and the food quality is very high. Even the bread served before the meal was scrumptious - natural grains, delicious and tasty. The steaks were all cooked to perfection and presented very well too. They clearly take effort to select fine cuts of meat and you can really taste the difference. They serve Illy coffee and have a fantastic selection of fresh desserts. Zinc has been going down hill for some time now. They are over priced and just mediocre anymore. A couple visits back I got one of the Benedict's of the week which are 18 dollars a dollar more than there normal one. It said it was a roast beef Benedict. Sounded good. Turns out it was deli meat not like you would think slow roasted beef that was put on this thing. No it was just like you went to Arby's and got one of their sandwiches took the meat off and slapped it on this. It did not have good flavor it was definitely not worth what they were asking for very disappointing not to mention. All of their drinks are far overpriced $13 for a mimosa that is smaller than most restaurant serve is ridiculous but today really takes the cake we went in. we sat down. Barely had any interaction with our server. The hostess was amazing but in total we had 3 cups of coffee between the two of us and an hour. It took a half hour to get an order in mind you they weren't that busy after an hour of waiting, we decided to leave without getting our food. The ticket was only put in 15 minutes prior. we found out since the manager was confused. why we were leaving she didn't really pay much attention to us as she was checking us out since I paid for our drinks. After I paid $4.50 each for our coffee and the $13 for the One mimosa. Our bill was $24 for wasting an hour of our time never have eaten anything there.. I get it. there not many places that are that great in Midland for breakfast or brunch, but I would rather go to McDonald's or even Arby's at this point for breakfast or a midday snack cause I know that at least least I will get served and it's not gonna cost me more than the food would have just for the drinks. read more

I love how elegant and inviting the decor is here. We made a reservation ahead of time and were seated right away. There calamari was one of the best we've had, and the baked feta and goat cheese skillet was very good. Both of our entrees tasted great. The shrimp on my ravioli was undercooked so our server gave us our desserts on the house. We were so full so we brought them home with us. The desserts are so pretty and taste amazing. I was looking for somewhere to take my mom for her 65th birthday this past Saturday. We had just enjoyed a wonderful day and I wanted to treat her to something nice. We chose cafe zinc over one eighteen because they had a vegan option on the menu. When we arrived we were greeted by the staff kindly and sat at our table. Our server was wonderful and attentive. However, let's go over the food. 1. We ordered their pear salad and Cesar to start. The pear salad had little to no dressing or flavor. The Cesar was one of the worst I had ever had. The greens were browning, the dressing was dull. We politely told our server and she kindly took it off the bill for us. We ordered apps (cranberry goat cheese, fries, and calamri) and all were wonderful. Our entrees on the other hand, a different story. My mother ordered the trout, which came out cold on a hot plate (unsure how that happens) and with little to no flavor. We had to send back to be reheated. My sister tried to order the vegan mushroom dish and we were told they were out without any alternative options. At 5 o'clock on a Saturday we were surprised they were out let alone without any other option (1 of the reasons we chose the restaurant). My sister and I ended up splitting the salmon with maple mustard. Our salmon had a spoon full of spicy ground mustard with salmon on top that was so dry I could not cut through the skin. I know it may seem as though we are nit picking or picky eaters (which it takes a lot for me to even speak up and send something back) however, when paying over $200 for a meal and close to $300 after a tip, the expectations were a little higher. Times are tough right now for a lot of people and spending that kind of money to do something special for my mother, it didn't feel worth it. Disappointed to say the least. read more

Wow! What a beautiful gem of a restaurant in beautiful Midland! First of all, the decor is so gorgeous! I feel like I'm in Europe. You walk in and the first thing you notice is the lovely table and chairs in the dining room, the beautiful flower arrangements, and the most gorgeous french pastries. There's a beautiful outdoor seating patio too. The ambiance in the bar is gorgeous. We were greeted by a very nice hostess. We sat outside and ordered: 1) Caesar salad- the best I've ever eaten! Fresh, delicate, beautiful anchovies, and delicious. Very generous portion too. 2) spinach burrata salad with peaches- it was very fresh with delicious strawberries, peaches, onion and crunchy bacon. The dressing was perfectly balanced. 3) French onion soup- the best I've had, my favorite. Nice portion served in a beautiful crock. 4) grilled scallops with risotto- the most delicious scallops I've ever had! They were seared to perfection, with the most delicious risotto. 5) key lime tart and peanut butter/raspberry mousse. Pure heaven, seriously,, gorgeous, beautiful!! This restaurant is so special, the service is also amazing. Hats off to the entire staff for creating such a lovely establishment. I can't wait to visit here again. Toxic work culture. Two old ladies who work mornings don't help new hires & leave them out to dry so they quit. Constant turn over of new servers so they are always short staffed; the service suffers even though the food is good. Stopped here about 4:30pm on a Saturday and were able to be seated immediately on the L shaped patio without reservations. They provide a basket of warm assorted bread for an appetizer. My entree was the fish tacos with fries and I had the creme brûlée for dessert. The fish tacos were very good with plenty of chipotle sauce. The creme brûlée was plentiful and prepared perfectly. Service was excellent keeping our water glasses filled on a extremely hot and humid day. Flat top tables with wicker chairs outside. Cloth napkins. Wifi. Limited street parking. Inside was very elegant but my party wanted to sit outside due to COVID concerns. The only negative was loud vehicles (music, motorcycles, mufflers) going by. My second time coming to Cafe Zinc and there was a slight problem with the reservation but Cafe Zinc and the hostess were able to work something out. I guess we might have put two down instead of three however they squared everything away and accommodated us. Our server Andrea was on top of it all and was friendly, welcoming and overall an awesome server. I ordered the bread pudding French toast and it was incredible. I'd order that over and over. We were seated in the bar area and Andrea made it comfortable and added some ambiance to the area. I had the avocado toast (no salmon). The waitress offered bacon as an alternative which was good. I thought the egg on top would be sliced but it was chopped up into pieces. Overall pretty good. Stumbled upon this DELIGHTFUL cafe. My mom and I both had the quiche with fruit. Highly recommend. I had a caramel cappuccino and she had a hot tea. The tea came in this cute cup with a hole in the top for the top of the tea bag. It was so cute I took a picture of it and sent it to my daughter, who LOVES a good cup of tea!!
