Food was ok. The environment was very busy and awkward. Not really worth the money. I'll be going to Taco Bell before I eat here again.

On business in Yuma, I stopped in here on the advice of a few locals. This is a local Yuma institution so I had to try it and I'm glad I did, but I was a bit underwhelmed. It's a good place to people-watch, since it gets packed with Yumans of every shape, size, color and socio-economic status during lunch. The food was decent but nothing to write home about. Driving from Phoenix back to San Diego, we were requested to pick up a dozen bean and cheese burritos and extra salsa. So we stopped and got a few for ourselves and now we see what the big deal is: an incredibly simple, tasty bean & cheese burrito. Surprising how many restaurants blow this concept. I had high expectations when an acquaintance who grew up in Yuma told me that this was the best Mexican food she's ever eaten. Unfortunately, my expectations were let down. This food here is just meh, the salsa runs like WATER. I had the carne asada fajita burrito and while the veggies were definitely fresh and delicious, the meat lacked flavor, and they really skimp out on the cheese. The rest of the people in our party were less then impressed with their food. The rolled tacos I tried were just ok.... I've had much better Mexican in San Diego and wouldn't go out of my way when in Yuma to eat here again. read more

Tasty tortillas. But their food is just bland bland bland unless you soak it in their salsa. If you love salsa, you'll like the food. I'm not a salsa fan so it doesn't do anything for me. No decor worth mentioning at all. I'll eat it if someone else is buying - but not something I'd choose if I'm going to have to pay for it. It was tasty, and most of the menu was relatively inexpensive, but personally I wasn't a huge fan. Apparently everything is made in house, such as the tortillas, but there just wasn't enough to wow me. They close hella early and I thought the portion sizes were really small. I've been told the rolled tacos are unbeatable but haven't been back since. I'd go back, but definitely will not be a frequent flier. read more

Oh my gosh, what a disappointment this place was! Have heard of this restaurant for years, and was finally in Yuma long enough to give it a try. Three of us went for lunch. The place was packed for dine in and carry out. I had the worst bean/cheese burro I have ever had....and I have NEVER had a bad bean/cheese burro.....ANYWHERE. One dining partner found her food inedible. From the looks of the crowd, we were certainly in the minority. I think there is a FILIBERTOS in Yuma. That food is awesome!!!!! Give it a try! read more

Favorite Mexican food hands down! This and Mr. G's, that is! Come here and get the bean, rice, cheese burrito and rolled tacos and you're good to go! Also, the quesadillas are pretty good! But the best part is the salsa--it looks watery, but it tastes so darn good. Love this place. read more

My husband and I have tried some amazing Mexican food in our lifetimes, and this is not it. Not bad by any means, though. Chilie Pepper is a mexican restraunt that's located in Yuma Az in town, near the horpital... It has amazing food, you can order pretty much anything you want there! If they don't have it on there menu, and you want it, then just ask and they will make it for you. Everything is had made there in the restraunt, so it's all fresh, and it's so good! If you haven't been here you gotta try it out. read more

The only thing good here are the rolled tacos, bean and cheese burittos, and the salsa! And when I mean good, I mean effin' bomb!But that's it. Now if those were the only two things on the menu, they would get 5 stars. What do you think goes in a carne asada burrito? At the least I would think oninos, and cilantro-NOPE- It comes P-L-A-I-N! seriously nothing but greasy meat, they don't even have cilantro in the building! tsk tsk. Their chile rojo is waaay salty and their machaca is always too wet (albeit tasty). Their 'guac' (if that's what you wanna call it) tastes like it came out of a bag. Chili Pepper and Mr. Gs is all about consistency. I know what to expect and it is always good. On Wednesdays go and get their bean and cheese burrito! Yum. I also really like their rolled tacos. Nothing special but a good price! The only complaint I have is their salsa. It's VERY watery/runny. Wish they had some variety with that, or at least a little more texture to their salsa. I cannot hold any bitter feeling toward Mr. G's or Chile Pepper for any of their changes. I myself miss the old building and the noticeably larger burritos they use to fold for the masses BUT it's a recession people! Costs were going to go up, I'm sure our parents didn't pay the same price as we did for 6 rolled tacos and a bean and cheese burrito (I'm fond of their bean and rice burritos as well). NO matter what you do, make sure you send someone to get you tacos if your coming into town late for Christmas or Thanksgiving because we all know they will run out. Pure Deliciousness... and you can't forget about the red chili meat fries... *drool* Make sure you wear the stretchy pants. ;) read more
