Overall, I really wanted the treatment plan provided here to work but it didn't- and that's okay. I gave it a try but often left in more pain than what I came in with. At first, I thought it was normal to feel this way but after consulting with other chiropractors about the treatment plan I was receiving here they labeled it as general and something that could be helpful to manpeople who aren't experiencing the specific type of condition that I currently have and further, suggested that I stop immediately. Update 4/23/20: spinal decompression therapy via a DRX9000 machine has worked wonders on my herniated disc. It is expensive but my pain and symptom level has reduced from 9 to a 2/3. Don't come here if you have low back pain related to the sacroiliac joint (common in women over 40). Frankly I'm mystified by the positive reviews in general. Zero diagnostics were done on me here - or more accurately, symptom and diagnosis were confused. Note I've been using alternative medicine including chiropractic for 30 years so I'm not naive. I had already been to an SOT chiro (a school of chiro that believes "cracking" adjustments are harmful to the body so they use gentler methods) who was able to immediately diagnose the issue - she could see it just looking at my back while I was standing and put her finger exactly on the point where all the pain was radiating from. She said I had a sprain in the sacroiliac joint but told me she couldn't fix it (she actually specialized in acupuncture) but gave me a serola belt to help the pain and told me to research it to find someone who could. So that's how I ended up here, based on the many positive reviews that led me to believe this was a skilled chiropractor. Rather than doing any real diagnostics to find the issue, I was told by Dr Ash that I had bad posture, and ostensibly this was the cause of the problem. He ignored looking further into the injury (which was from repetitive twisting while moving heavy objects). His idea of "good" posture was almost comical - ramrod straight with chest puffed out - and actually harmful to the body when held too long according to many advanced chiropractors. Was my posture bad? Maybe a little, but this was a SYMPTOM of the injury, not the CAUSE. I had an injury and my back wasn't functioning normally. So after the diagnosis of bad posture, I was put on the same assembly line machines here that everyone else is, and told to do a series of stretches for 15 minutes EVERY HOUR when I got home, indefinitely. Long story short, I was in SEVERE pain the next day, I could barely walk, I had to go back to wearing the serola belt and my balance and stability were so off that I nearly fell off a stepladder. I could literally barely walk. I searched for a chiro who specifically addressed sacroiliac issues and found a guy specializing in chiropractic neurology who is affiliated with Cedars Sinai and he was able to diagnose the issue immediately and fix it (it moved about an inch - even he was shocked at how displaced it was, and also my L5 was rotated). Stretching was the absolute WORST thing I could be doing with a sacroiliac joint displacement. Basically if I had kept doing that, my body would eventually "stretch" to accommodate the displacement and it would be much harder to fix long term and I could have ended up with long term balance and stability issues. As a final note, beware of chiropractors who "crack" your neck or areas of your back despite not having anything wrong with that area of your body. These are not actually adjustments. They're really not different that cracking your knuckles - it's dramatic and it "seems" like something is happening, but it's pointless (and frankly a bit of a con) and you can end up just needing to do it more and more often, like how some people become addicted to cracking their knuckles and don't feel normal in their hands unless they do it on a regular basis. Doing actual adjustments are difficult and require a lot of skill. It's common for chiropractors to do a bunch of cracking and tell you those are adjustments when they're not. This is sadly why the whole discipline gets a bad name, and why some genres of the practice, like SOT, avoid cracking adjustments altogether. My theory on why people love this place is maybe because the roller machine they put you on will cause you to release endorphins and so there's a certain "feel good" effect you get, but it's basically no different than the feel good effect you get from a massage. It's just endorphins. I initially got sucked into that misunderstanding too, to the point that I unfortunately signed up for the discounted package deal they sell you on a few minutes later. It wasn't until halfway through the next day as the endorphins wore off and the pain became excruciating that I realized I was conned. If there's something actually misaligned in your body, a massage roller is not going to fix that, it's just going to cover up the issue with temporary endorphins like a band aid. read more

Dr Ash is a nice person (with sweet dogs) and a deep knowledge of the body but doesn't really have that relational, caring, empathic connection that many body practitioners and chiropractors have, one that gives you confidence in long term treatment. But my main complaint frankly is with the staff and operations. I called and left a message Monday morning before opening hours after throwing my back out and asked for an urgent/emergency appointment. It is now Thursday and I have just received a call back from Jessie at the front desk. 3 days later! This is not the first time I have had bad service here. On my first visit I asked for an invoice that I could submit to my insurance and she said she would email it to me. I had to call back TWICE and talked to several office staff, having to explain myself over and over again before someone finally took action. The business model here seems to be get em in and get em out to make as much money as possible. I would skip this place and find somewhere else to receive treatment. read more

Best chiro in la, hands down. I have had lower back problems for years and have seen multiple chiropractors around la with little to no success In Finding a long term solution. Dr Ash immediately realized what was happening. My psoas muscles in my abdomen were tightening up from improper form doing deadlifts and were causing my pelvis to tilt- essentially forcing the curvature of my lower spine, creating pressure and causing pain. After one session with Dr ash, I regained 90% of my mobility and the next day was out of pain. The best chiropractor in Los Angeles!!! I live in the miracle mile area and hurt my neck doing exercises at equinox. Two different trainers told me to go see the Chiro Guy. I called and they were able to see me the same day. After a very detailed examination they were able to identify what was wrong. After the first visit I felt significantly better. They used electric stim, ultrasound, decommpresison, adjustments, and gave me home exercises. I went for a total of 6 visits and I am now fully recovered. The level of service was incredible, but more importantly the devices they used to start the therapy was beyond anything I've witnessed before. When I called the office prior to my visit, the lady on the phone was answering my questions. I had only two questions: "Does the doctor take new patients? And how much is the adjustment?". She replied in a short fashion saying: "Yes. And the adjustment is $60." But when I arrived at the clinic the next day, I learned that I also have to pay an exam fee that is an extra $25. I've been seeing other doctors, and most of them have free consultations/exams. At the time, I didn't want to argue with anyone or fight it, I was more preoccupied thinking about my monthly spending. I was extremely disappointed with this fee that I was not aware of and wasn't informed in advance. I tried to bring that to the attention of the doctor the next day, but haven't heard from him since then. It's been two weeks. Don't rely on your Insurance here if its Blue Shield. My wife and I went here a few days ago, and while the service itself seemed meticulous and solid for her appointment the front reception taking our insurance card and reassuring our in-network PPO Gold Blue Shield plan would be applied. "AFTER" the service was performed, they stated the insurance would not be applied and a full $100 charge would be needed as payment. Thus the insurance never applied. Then some rediculous story added that we needed to contact the insurance company as it's our mistake that they are still listed as " in-network " and should request a credit or adjustment. Overall the realignment of spine, body cracks, photos and education of her assessment and posture was really well articulated and felt rewarding but the overall mistrust created with the insurance and shady bait and switch professionalism by reception was really misleading and sadly unprofessional. It seems there is a standard in most of the health industry to not provide full transparency until it's too late and this is one of those places. Do your research here and be sure you're not being baited before you go! ---- I tell people about epic greatness and epic fails, and this was by far an epic fail on customer handling. As you continue to falsely try to get my review removed, I repost because the community deserves to know how you've handled this tactically. Dr. Ash truly is wonderful. My brother referred me and spoke extremely highly of him, so I had high hopes to begin with. I'm happy to say they were not only met, but exceeded my expectations.
