I had a great chiropractor in the past that I went to for years for my back, but Dr. Leonard accepts my insurance so I decided to make an appointment with him instead, in order to save money. The office staff was nice and the Christian music playing in the lobby put me at ease. Then I met with Dr. Leonard and explained to him the pain in my head and neck, and even numbness I was having in my face. He asked if my back hurt, and I said no. He asked if I was sure, and I confirmed that I currently did not have any back pain. He had me lay face down so that he could check things and said he was going to give me a "wellness adjustment" (I believe he called it). He made a twisting motion with his hands twice in my mid-back and had me stand up. My back was in immediate excruciating pain...It felt like a hot poker had been shoved into my lower back. I figured Dr. Leonard knew best though, "everything is connected" right? Maybe he adjusted my back to alleviate some of the pain in my neck, I didn't know... so I continued on and he took at least 8 x-rays. Maybe 2 of which were of my neck. Then he sent me to the roller table, and that was it. He wanted to see me back the following Monday. I went home and cried. I could not get comfortable for the whole rest of the weekend. I thought I was in pain before my visit there, but what I experienced after my first appointment was ten times worse. I still needed to know what was wrong with my neck though, so I went to my second appointment, where I told one of his staff that I didn't think I could lay on the roller table because my back hurt so badly. I was told that the table should help with that but just in case, she stood there with me for a few seconds to make sure I was okay. I appreciated that. After a minute or so of the table, I saw Dr. Leonard again. He had only one of my many x-rays up on the wall (of only my back), and started explaining to me how going to the chiropractor is like going to the gym, you can't expect immediate results, and my back is so bad that I will need to see him 3 times a week for the next 8 weeks, and then once a week for 4 weeks, and then we would reassess. I told him about how my back had been hurting ever since the adjustment he did. He said the roller table probably irritated it. I insisted it was the adjustment, to which he said he didn't give me one during my first visit, and then he again said it was the roller table. I told him he gave me an adjust on my back before he took the x-rays, and he admitted to doing an adjustment on my mid-back and said that wouldn't have caused lower back pain. Wait...I thought everything was connected, hence the obnoxious amount of x-rays he took of my spine when I had only complained of head and neck pain. Notice that my neck still had not been addressed at this point, so I asked him if my x-rays showed why my neck/head had been hurting. He said, "I definitely saw some deterioration there", and that was it! He gave me another adjustment on my back, and one on my hip, a quick little tiny adjustment on my neck, then did an electronic acupuncture treatment on my earlobes and said "that's your first treatment". Why did he adjust my back before looking at my x-rays? Why did he deny giving me an adjustment? Why didn't he show me my neck x-rays? I'm pretty sure it's because there was no money in the few adjustments it would have taken to help my neck. Yes, I have a curvature in my spine, that is why I went to a chiropractor for years, and between that and years of yoga, my back felt so much better. Dr. Leonard undid all of that in a matter of seconds. I did not go back to him, I was afraid to. I don't want to pay $1,700 to someone that I don't trust, that made me hurt worse. It's been a couple of weeks since my visit and I am still in severe pain. I can't sleep well, I'm distracted from my work, and I can't get comfortable!! Don't let the 5-star ratings fool you, he just wants your money.

I have never liked a drop table treatment like some do. He had never used that method on me. He remembers the little things I tell him. He listens. I do not feel like a number or one of the cattle in the pen waiting forever to be seen. He has never recommended anything to upsell me. He wont try to sell you x-rays or supplements unless you ask or actually need it. He also has helped me understand that sitting too long is why I had the problem to begin with. What Chiropractor do you know will tell you, walking will solve most of your issues? I only wish we had more Doctors that cared as much as he does. I'd tried massage and yoga which brought relief but didn't permanently correct my posture. To top it all off, I am pregnant. So his approach to correct my posture was to do weekly alignments for 6 weeks while I do daily physical therapy type exercises at home. As someone with no chiropractic background and only 2 sessions in, I actually do notice a difference and a change. Also, I don't know if this is entirely related, but somehow I feel happier.
