We were walking through Lafayette Village and stumbled on the Chocolate Boutique. Store smells heavenly. We were confused by their pricing but went ahead and picked quite a few prepackaged chocolates. Wanted to buy a gift certificate but the sales person did not know how to do it. We later found that none of the bags were labeled with the type of chocolate inside! We had about 8 different bags. The real disappointment is that many of the chocolates were stale. I'm embarrassed because i gifted a couple of the bags. Honestly not worth buying from this store. I really wanted to love our purchases. read more

On Saturday we bought two strawberries from this place and to our surprise they had mold. So I called the owner and I was told that I had to leave my number so I did, later around 7:30 PM this lady called me back with a very defensive attitude to the point that I had to hung up on her. She kept calling and harassing me. She could not apologize and offer a replacement or a simply sorry would have done it. All I wanted was for her to know that selling this was outmost disgusting and that she need it to keep an eye on the fruit, but she became an uncivilized creature so I rather tell the world. Lovely little shop full of chocolate! Every direction you turn you see a variety of sweet treats. The shelves and tables are packed with items, which brings back positive childhood memories of walking into candy stores. Even working with a small space and a lot of stock, they keep the store clean and organized. Most of the items are labeled so it is easy to find something you will like. It is pricy, although this was expected since they are a chocolate boutique. They do not post prices. Regarding COVID-19, all customers and employees were wearing masks. That being said, none of the three employees were wearing masks when we arrived, but they did put masks on shortly after we walked in. Luckily most of the items are packaged/covered. Hopefully the employees know they should be wearing masks when packaging and making the items. We enjoyed the items purchased and would stop by here again after the pandemic if in the area. read more

I'm sure Willy Wonka would be just as impressed as I was with the delicious selection of chocolate treats, most likely not so much with the lack of radiant and engaging staff. But its chocolate, so the only questions I had to ask myself were white, milk or dark? These folks know chocolate and it shows, they even put chocolate on bacon, and I fell in love! The staff didn't seem to know much about the inventory, nor did they seem interested in the question I posed, so one of each and on my way. If you're looking for a unique experience to have a birthday part or a ladies get together, I highly suggest reserving the place for a private chocolate making party. We did exactly that and there was about 16 of us. We did have to put down a deposit. You have to have at least 4 people to book the party and they have 3 different choices. We reserved the Belgian Package ($176 for 4 people). We also chose to order pizza's through them and they had them delivered. We made a lunch time reservation. During the event you will each get to make chocolates with their molds and to take home at the end. They have lots of tasty treats for you to eat as part of the package. When you go into the Chocolate Boutique it is decorated very appealing, different kinds of chocolate everywhere, they make it look so yummy. We had a young man help us pick out a box of 18 and a box of 12. He was friendly but really didn't seam like he wanted to be there. They were out of boxes for the 18 pack no big deal, he proceeded to put them in a plain white box ... I told him I was getting it for a gift and for $40 I would like a nicer box ( they had fancier ones on counter) we had to get a box for 12 and a box for 6. The box for 6 was a plain white one ( I was hoping that they would put a logo or sticker on it. The gift should have had some markings that they came from a fancy shop. All and all the chocolates were ok we will try somewhere else next time. read more

Awful - so disappointing! There were two young people working, one rather odd and not welcoming at all. One eating ice cream from the container (though I don't think she was putting spoon back in after she ate). Tried to find a box for chocolates that wasn't torn or beans (tops were too small for bottom), and the boy was not helpful in any way. He was basically, "yeah, that's all we got." We even went back in the store with hopes of finding anything we could bring to someone as a hostess gift, but we gave up. read more

The staff was friendly but once I got home and tasted my candy it was stale. At $21 for 6 pieces, I was pretty disappointed.

I drove 35 minutes, after having verified that they are open, online and on the door, but was met with a staff rushing over to me saying "we are not open for a few hours". Doors are unlocked, lights are on, multiple staff inside on their phones, sign is turned to "we are open", hours on the door say it's open, online says it's open...but they are closed.??? We went here as part of the wine festival today and the truffles are incredible. I love chocolate and I've tried a lot of different kinds but these are seriously some of the best I've had if not the best I've had. I liked that they had some that were out of the box and not typical of regular shops. The shop itself was also really cute and offered a lot of different accessories and trinkets. This place looks and feels like Tiffany's but instead of jewels being in those glass cases, it's the next best thing....chocolate!!! The thing I love most, other than the chocolate about this place, is the decor. There is a wide variety of chocolates for gifts, indulging for yourself, or to make a sweet dessert at one of the restaurants at Lafayette Village. There are truffles with chocolate with a lemon center that were TO DIE for!!! Same with the irish cream, the signature chocolates, and many other chocolate treats. The girl in the shop was super helpful. I told her it was my first time there, and she let me try a couple samples before making a purchase. I ended up going with her recommendation of the dark chocolate with sea salt. Those are "When Harry Met Sally" restaurant-scene good. I highly recommend! My only recommendation for this shop is to invest in some candy boxes. They would make great gifts to people, but they put them in a little clear plastic bag with a sticker to seal them. But if they had 6-pc/12pc/20pc boxes to create your own mix, they would look more presentable to bring to someone's house. (okay, YOU try to pry them out of husband's hands!) Am glad for what I have gotten to try, as they were darn GREAT. My most recent appearance here was on the night before Father's Day. Stopped in around 5:00. They were busy. I was looking for Dad's favorite...non pareils. I was quickly told they were out, and just as quickly told they could make me some. I was in Lafayette Village on Friday and decided to stop by the Chocolate Boutique. My initial plan was not to buy anything, just to see what they have, but the delicious smell and the fantastic chocolate creations won me over. I bought a small 1/4 lb. bag of tiramisu cordials and little Limoncello bonbons (lemon white chocolate and marzipan) for about $5 each. I figure either I could spend $10 and get 4 bites of their more expensive truffles, or I could spend $10 and get something like 40 bites of their little bagged chocolates. I think I got the better deal. The limoncello is pretty good, but the tiramisu cordials are amazing. Definitely worth every cent of that $20 a pound. I'd like to come back again someday to see if their truffles are really worth $2.50 each, but unfortunately being on the NW side of Raleigh, it's a bit of a long drive for me. If I'm ever in the area again though, I'll definitely pick up a bag of those tiramisu cordials. read more

When we first came in one employee was working hard in the back while another was just on their phone and reluctantly acknowledged us. When we told the employee we were ready she acted as if we were a bother to her the whole time. I asked for a walnut milk chocolate cluster and a few other items. She went through the pile as if they weren't correctly labeled but then picked out was supposed to be the walnut cluster. Later that evening, when I tried my chocolate, I found it was a trail mix cluster. Everything we got was still very good. I recently had the opportunity to experience The Chocolate Boutique for a Chocolate Party and had a WONDERFUL time. Not only were the people who work there awesome, but everyone at the Party made the event even more fun. There were numerous chocolates on the table to sample including a nut cluster and a YUMMY ganache. We kicked it off with a glass of wine and a chocolate lesson. During the lesson, we learned about some of the treats on the table and other fun chocolate information. Emily demonstrated how to use the "dispensers" and the tamping process to create smooth chocolates. Next, we each were able to select a mould from the wall (so many options to pick from including letters, sports, characters and more). Then, we each took turns creating our own chocolates to take home (either milk or dark chocolate); there were a number of fun options on the Toppings Bar including sprinkles, graham crackers, mini chocolate chips, and more. Finally, after just a few minutes in the refrigerator, we all received our lovely chocolates to take home. The Chocolate Boutique is conveniently located in Lafayette Village in North Raleigh off Falls of Neuse Road. The store is bright and colorful and is very involved with many events in the area including Wine Walks, The Wine, Cheese and Chocolate Festival (August), and various other events throughout the year. Kesha was so welcoming and friendly that I could have stayed all night. I truly suggest looking into hosting your next Ladies' Night or Team Building Activity at the Chocolate Boutique because it was such a great experience both during the event and afterwards enjoying all of the chocolates. If you don't want to go with a group, The Chocolate Boutique also hosts numerous events that can be found on Facebook. I understand they do chocolate parties, which sound fun for the ladies, although it might required a couple hours at the gym to shed all those extra calories. Although they advertise that guests will go home with around 1/2 a pound, none of my guests got nearly that much chocolate, even though we were all told that we would wind up with about that much. This is a cute shop and has some nice gift ideas but the chocolates are very disappointing. My friend and I went in after having dinner at a nearby restaurant. The chocolates are mostly displayed in glass cases there aren't any prices posted anywhere. I opted for 2 chocolate covered coconut macaroons ( one each white and dark chocolate). I cut the dark chocolate macaroon in half to share with my friend; the interior was dry and the chocolate was nothing special. I would have preferred a Mounds candy bar and for $5.00 and change I could have purchased several! My friend bought a bag of assorted truffles. They were buy 5 get 1 free, but again, no prices were posted. She selected 12 and the price was over $26! Again, the chocolate was nothing special and I don't believe the flavor so we're natural either. I will not return to this shop. read more

The Chocolate Boutique in Lafayette Village is quite lovely. They have ready-to-eat truffles, as well as some mixed nut varieties, they host classes, and they sell a variety of plastic molds. They have a range of chocolates that skew slightly more towards milk chocolate fans when I visited. I enjoyed the dark chocolate orange truffle--the interior was creamy and velvety with a bright (but not overpowering) orange flavor. The dark chocolate mint patties were refreshing. To my delight they also sell their chocolate callets by the pound. I purchased a pound of their dark (which is 72%) chocolate so I can temper at home. What I particularly enjoy about this particular chocolate shop is that it sells ready to eat chocolates for enthusiasts and products and books for those that like to try their hand at producing their own chocolates at home. What a perfect event for our annual Girl's Weekend. 5 of us got together for a chocolate making party at Chocolate Boutique. It felt very posh, gabbing and drinking wine while making yummy chocolates. The atmosphere is amazing! It feels very rich and luxurious, but with a fun flair. We had a quick lesson about chocolate and then were given time to select our molds. They have tons to choose from! There are even some "grown-ups only" molds if that's the direction your party goes. Would be perfect for a bachelorette party! The owner and staff were so great! We laughed with them and had such a wonderful time. None of us had ever made chocolates before, so they made sure to help us with the process (sharing little tips and tricks) so that our chocolates came out beautifully. We all left with gorgeous chocolates. I brought mine back to Boston. My girlfriend and I have been enjoying them for a week, so I would say I took home just the right amount. After the fun chocolate-making/tasting experience, we walked over to dinner in Lafeyette Village.
