It was a little difficult for my friend to find the shop in the unfamiliar parking lot with odd angles and spread out buildings, but walking in was like a revelation! It was incredibly welcoming and begged for you to take a seat by the fireplace in the corner. Unfortunately, I didn't have time for a sit-down visit, I was just buying tasty things to bring home from my vacation, for me and for gifts. Not pictured (because I demolished them before I even thought about it) are the chocolate-covered gummy bears! I cannot recommend these enough. This treat is actually hard to find and even harder to find well done, and these were wonderful. The bears were nice and fresh and they had just the right amount of chocolate coating. The dark chocolate drizzle finishing them off was nice but probably unnecessary, and just ended up in a pile of crumbles that was hard to get out of the bottom of the plastic tube they came in. The serving size justified the price, in my opinion. There were so many other great souvenir treats available! But I moved on to the truffle case with all its gorgeous gourmet gems awaiting me! I selected four and was most excited for the Earl Grey one. It was decent but disappointing; I tasted very little tea inside, it was pretty much just a plain caramel filling to me. The other two are still awaiting me. The ladies behind the counter were helpful and friendly, and were patient with my indecision. I also got one of their house stickers for my collection and I was thrilled that it was so reasonably priced! Some places charge SO MUCH for stickers that are, essentially, advertisement for them. I wish I could return soon but I live far away and it will probably be a couple years before I'm back. But you can be sure I'll be making time for a longer trip here then! read more

This review is based on their mobile coffee cart only. We had the chocolate season coffee cart come to our work last week for a special event and it was a huge hit! I cannot say enough good things about this company and their efficient flow for their food truck/coffee cart set up. The line moved very quickly even for it being quite busy non-stop. For the coffee itself, I tried the iced latte with white turtle flavor and wow was this delicious! All their syrups are made in-house and you can definitely tell. Fresh, full-bodied coffee with the perfect amount of flavoring made this iced coffee a perfect addition to the workday. I highly recommend trying the chocolate season and will definitely be trying their other drinks next time I'm in Lincoln! read more

The waffles are so delicious! The actual waffle is soft and chewy, plus, paired with the toppings takes the whole meal to another level. I tried the s'mores waffle. It was pretty sweet, but delicious and I heard raving reviews about the breakfast burrito waffle. Also, the chocolate is exquisite and a perfect bite. The balance of the chocolate and sweetness level is pretty level and you can taste every flavor and each bite. Great place for a quick bite to eat or some coffee and a sweet treat. My mother and I had ordered the Cherry Cheesecake waffle and both got told they sold out of that waffle, the ladies behind us ordered the same thing and they magically had them in stock again? multiple people after us got that same waffle. Still great. I returned for my birthday celebration this year, this time with a bunch of friends and reservations for the new coffee/hot chocolate flights. I made the reservation weeks in advance and prepaid. The staff honestly did an AMAZING job. They made us aware right away that our flights would come at different times since they take time to make and out of all the orders, only one got forgotten (and quickly made). I also got a free treat for my birthday and so did my niece, who turned 7 just a few days later. Folks who didn't get a flight got a drink and since it was Sunday, most of us got the waffles! My friend and I shared the Key Lime Pie waffle and the Bacon waffle. I am more of a plain waffle kind of person, and I'm kicking myself for not getting the strawberry my sister said was amazing, because these two flavors were just not on point for me. The Key Lime Pie, you must really really like Key Lime to enjoy this as it's a lot of flavor! And the bacon, which is cooked into the waffle, was just ok. My mom ordered a Mexican type waffle and she loved it! We learned some things when it came to our flights. There were many we liked and many we didn't. We also learned that if a hot chocolate drink says "dirty" it means it has coffee in it. We weren't impressed with the lack of non-coffee options for the flights, as many of my friends don't drink coffee, and we were promised lots and lots of options. I've included a picture of the options. My favorite was the Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate. We spent a long while at Chocolate Season...eating, drinking, enjoying, and the servers never made us feel like we were taking up too much space or time. Erika made the most fantastically delicious and beautiful Easter eggs for me this year. I want to buy things locally, but had never seen the cream-filled chocolate eggs I grew up with except on-line. I sent The Chocolate Season a picture of what I wanted, and Erika came up with something even better. I hope she is willing to make even more next year. I only bought six, but I will need more to take care of our new family tradition. In truth, 3.5 stars would be about right. The pastries are exceptional, the coffee I had was good enough. It was a busy morning when I went, so the service was understandably rushed and a bit short but not rude. The vibe is... "upscale mellow." The atmosphere, and the typical patronage from my two visits make it feel like a country club, which you might feel is good or bad. The waffles get a lot of hype - they're smaller than I expected for the price and had so much topping, mine was also soggy. It's expensive, for what it is. And certain things require a reservation, so maybe call ahead before you go. I really want to go back for their coffee flight, but you need a reservation for that on weekends... I could write a review about how glorious the toffee is from this business. I could also give expert opinions about the bars, the chocolate-covered chips, and even the caramels. And, don't even get me started about the incredible truffles. I can do all of that because I have ordered from this business many times. My typical order is for my wife, who is very allergic to nuts. My initial relationship with this owner began with me seeking assurances that I could buy my wife some quality chocolate that would not need to include an epi-pen. That was in 2016. Erika delivered on that order and has continued to deliver on every purchase that we have made over a number of years now. The quality and creativity of the products that are created and sold here are just incredible. We've never had a bad experience here. We know that we never will. Do you know why? Because Erika and Brad are there every day. They own the store. They set a high standard for whatever they sell. We have traveled the world and have tasted chocolate in Belgium, Switzerland, Italy, etc. It was all wonderful, but the chocolate from The Chocolate Season is better. I've concluded that, along with the typical ingredients, there is an extra pinch of love and pride in every single thing they sell. I admire their artistry, creativity, and business savvy. They have become friends. My most recent order was last week. There have been quite a few others between those two dates. We've ordered from the Chocolate Season on two separate occasions. The artisan chocolates are FANTASTIC - so many different flavors and decorations! Some have patterns on top, some have sea salt or other sprinklings, some have gold flakes, and some even have sparkles. They are AMAZING - pricier than your average grocery store chocolate, but TOTALLY WORTH IT. The brownies/bars are also sooo yummy (we tried the mint brownies). YUM! One of our orders had a shipping issue (it went missing in the post). I contacted Erika, and she fixed it right away. A new shipment was sent out ASAP, with an extra treat thrown in (the toffee with bacon - totally on trend. Sounds weird, but actually pretty good!!). I was really impressed with the service - friendly, and everything was correct or else fixed immediately and with a smile. We definitely recommend the Chocolate Season, whether you're local or not. It's a great treat for Valentine's Day or another special holiday. Just make sure you've got someone around to share with, or there's a reasonable chance you'll polish your entire order off yourself in one sitting!! read more
