My friend and I had run a long trail race in Tsali and were heading to dinner when we saw the Chocolate Shoppe. We decided we definitely needed chocolate and were afraid it would be closed later so stepped in to grab some chocolate for after dinner. There were SO many choices! There was all kinds of chocolate, fudge, caramel apples and cookies as well as ice cream. I decided on two milk chocolate sea salt caramels. They were pricey -- $2 each. My wife had seen The Chocolate Shoppe on Yelp and all the positive reviews. It is located downtown and as we walked around we stopped in. There is a large selection of tasty chocolates sold by the piece/total weight. We did see a few bags of pre-packed chocolate as well but we took advantage of picking our own favorites. The employees were very friendly and helped answer questions. I also decided to get a single scoop of cookies and cream ice cream on a waffle cone. First time visiting Bryson City from Florida. We stopped in at The Chocolate Shoppe. This is a MUST when in/around Bryson City. It's a magical little shop full of so many yummy treats and chocolate. As soon as you walk in, you are intoxicated with the smell of chocolate. This charming and cozy shop is a haven for chocolate lovers everywhere. As soon as you walk in, you are struck with an unbelievable and incredible variety of chocolates on display. Every corner of the store held different types of chocolates ranging from milk, dark to white, making it impossible to choose just one. I found myself exploring the beautifully arranged shelves and cases and asked the owner for her recommendations. After her providing me her recommendations, I chose 'Better Than A Twix Bar". I have to agree with the title because it is was. The employees were amazing and friendly, even with quite a few people in the shoppe. Definitely put this little gem on your list when strolling through Bryson City. My visit to The Chocolate Shoppe in Bryson City, NC was nothing short of delightful and sweet. The lady at the counter wasnt pleasant and acted irritated with my questions on the chocolates. You'd think if I was going to buy 2 dozen truffles (at $2.60 each) to ship out to friends, she'd at least pretend to be nice! And when I gave the the coupon (from the magazine that was an in-store coupon with a minimum of $10 purchase) for the chocolates, she wouldn't accept them as I didnt inform her about the coupon "sooner". But she gave the discount to the older white lady after me. That lady and I looked at each other and shook our heads. I visit NC monthly but I'd never patronize a store with ugly customer service. We stopped by this cute shop on Saturday afternoon December 14,2024 for some chocolate with our two grandchildren 8 and 5. The young gentleman scolded our youngest child because he was too close to the jelly bean station and then while we were picking out ice cream; the lady advised us to not let the children touch the glass cover over the ice cream. Seriously! How many children do not touch the glass between them and the ice cream. No one smiled and you could tell they were not excited to wait on us . Ruined the night and atmosphere. The website for the inn we were staying in recommended this place so we stopped in on a Friday afternoon. There are plenty of sweet options (the caramel apples were recommended) but we just got a few individual truffles, some of which we ate on the bench outside and some of which we ate later. Everything was delicious and prices were reasonable; we've seen some chocolate shops that would charge twice as much. A nice spot in downtown Bryson City for a treat. read more

Came here in the evening looking for some great ice cream and found it here. Very friendly staff and they allow samples if you ask! The place does way more than ice cream and has a lot of different chocolate treats, definitely for anyone with a sweet tooth. I ended up getting half praline and half blueberry cheesecake and i absolutely loved it. The praline is very sweet so be aware, but i loved the flavor and it was exactly what i needed after a long day of hiking. The blueberry cheesecake was also great! More cheesecake than blueberry but i didn't mind at all, definitely recommend this as well. A single scoop only came out to about $4, much cheaper than what I'm used to Overall, loved the place and recommend it to anyone looking for ice cream. Hard to miss and lovely staff and food. This is a really cute store and I visited it four times within one week that I was in town. The products are amazing. The quality is very very good. The caramel they make themselves and it is exceptional. The only exception was some of the service. One night one of the workers was very clear that you only have five minutes to make a choice because the doors close in five minutes. Kind of shocking. Too bad I already tipped. Several of the other staff were friendly. It is worth the stop. The atmosphere is very quaint. read more

The store across the street sells Blue Bell which is made in Texas (where we live) so we diverted to this shop across the street. My husband had a blackberry cheesecake ice cream shake and I had the butterscotch bomb ice cream on a waffle cone. Sooooooo goood! Try some of their chocolates too especially the turtles. I came for ice cream and was not disappointed. The flavors were diverse and quite numerous. The employees were very polite and patient, explaining everything well. When asking whether some flavors were gluten free, the employee asked another as he was uncertain, which is more than what most people do. I took a small (single size, I believe) peach flavored ice cream. The ice cream was creamy but light, and the peach flavor was delicate despite how cold it was. I sampled a few other flavors and all of them were very good. I enjoy fruit or lighter flavors so I didn't choose anything with chocolate or any strong, sweet flavors so I can't mention my opinions on those. However, the ice cream and quality of my visit was very good. If anything, the price was a little daunting, but compared to what I've read of the other choices in the area, I would say this is a place you should visit if you want some local, original ice cream. read more

This business has been in Bryson City for four years. Before that, the founders had a chocolate shop in Maggie Valley. In the past few months the business was bought buy a very pleasant couple who continue to use the recipes of the founders. At $24.95/lb you can get two small boxes hand picked with your choice of chocolates. The new owners added caramels in case you've been before and they were missing. The establishment is small, but located in the center of Bryson City. Across from Soda Pops. The samples of chocolate covered caramels, both milk and dark, and sea salted and plain, were good enough that we bought a pound to take home as gifts. Give the Chocolate Shoppe a try. Its real chocolate, and not another tourist trap. read more

Best. Chocolate. Ice Cream. Ever. Chocolate is my favorite flavor ice cream. Every time I go somewhere new to get ice cream I always get chocolate. I can get another flavor but it always has to be in addition to chocolate. I've searched all over for the best chocolate ice cream and until I found this place, I thought it was the generic Hershey's chocolate ice cream that a lot of places sell. I got the Bear Claw and the Captain's Chocolate and I can't decide which is the best chocolate ice cream. The bear claw has a rich taste that's closer to the brownie side of the chocolate spectrum while the Captain's Chocolate tastes similar to Nesquick chocolate milk which has always been a personal favorite. My family got the Butter Pecan, Special Praline, Cherry, and Butterfinger and all were up to par with the chocolate-Just as smooth and creamy as you could possibly want from a hard ice cream. Didn't try anything else in the shop but everything smelled and looked incredible. Definitely coming back next time we make it out this way. read more

We enjoyed walking in, the sweet aroma just hits you as you walk in. It was amazing, the smell alone draws you. They had all sorts of variety of sweets, chocolates and ice cream! I'd been craving fudge and bought a whole one (so very, very yummy)! My daughter and hubby got single scoop ice cream, one in cone and one in cup. My daughter enjoyed the rainbow ice cream. Hubby got the caribou one and it was so sweet, he had to save the rest for later lol. But they were delicious! My boys got the peanut brittle and the giant jawbreaker. The customer service was good enough. It does get busy in there on the weekends so I advise everyone to be patient and look around! They were all very friendly and welcoming! We have been coming to Bryson Coty for years and have sampled all the sweet shops in town. The Chocolate Shop wins hands down, in all categories. Their Ice Cream is custom made for them, and is second to none. They make many candies right in house. The staff is always froendly and nice. The owner works in the store and remembers us every time we come in. A classic, small town sweet shop that sells super procucts and makes you feel right at home. Bryson City, NC: As you step inside the store, a delicious scent of yummy goodness wafts up to greet you. It's a literal mom and pop store: a lovely couple owns and makes ALL of the treats inside the cute little shop. There is always a great sampling of some of their treats - from brittle to fudge to caramel corn. And the service is excellent - the "pop" of the store is behind the counter making treats (on one occasion into the shop, he was making caramel corn). We went there a couple times during our short stay in the cabins near Bryson City: the chocolate walnut fudge was my person favorite while my dad thoroughly enjoyed the peanut butter fudge. The ice cream, though sadly the only thing not made in the store, was my mom's favorite (specifically the English toffee). Ultimately, this small business of delectable goodies is a must visit. read more
