You can't come to Beaufort and not stop by here. This place is uber delish and we'll worth the prices. They make their chocolate in front of you. Also, they have career specific type chocolate gifts-- teacher, lawyer, doctor, etc. instead of buying real cigars when a friend has a baby, buy their solid milk chocolate ones here. There is a wide selection for everyone! Those that like soft centers, nuts, fudge, etc. I absolutely love their rocky road fudge. No one dares to even look at my fudge when I bring it home. I'll fight to the death for that fudge it's that good. It's Christmas season now and they have prewrapped selections for you as well as some seasonal flavors and such. Try the amaretto and Grand Marnier truffles, but beware of the buttercreams unless you love, well, butter. The traditional buttercream was a Paula Deen dream and there is no debating where it got its name. They get extra points for offering chocolate making classes for beginners. The back of the store is filled with molds, chocolate pieces in a variety of colors, and personal gift boxes for the home candymaker. Today was my 3rd visit to THE CHOCOLATE TREE. Took my 90 year old mom into the shop to spend money on goodies for Christmas. Even though we spent almost $40 on chocolates, the cashier would not spare us 2 additional PLASTIC bags so that we could divide our treats into gift bags for family. Her lack of courtesy and kindness was notable. REALLY....you couldn't spare a 90 years a couple of bags worth CENTS???? We have spent quite a bit every time we have dropped into your store. Only a gift certificate would cause us to return to your store. REALLY?????? How insensitive can you be to an older BUYING customer! read more

Sweet experience. The ladies at this store are nice & sweet. I'm not a chocolate person but I went over to see if they had coffee (not a coffee drinker either) to cure a headache. They directed me promptly where to get my black poison but before heading off I got a little choco flavored nut. After getting coffee, I went back to get some more treats for friends. The lady who served me gave me a sample to try as I was deciding my choices. The little treats from this place are good. It's not your expensive quality chocolate but it is quite good; also they're reasonably priced. read more

Love this place. I have to make infrequent visits or I would be as big as my house. The SMELL when you walk in the door is just HEAVEN! I can not even begin to describe the different varieties of chocolate!! They have some of the best truffles and turtles on the planet. The staff are all so kind and helpful. Recently I had a birthday and I had a knock on the door..............it was someone from the Chocolate Tree with a little box wrapped in purple with a bow. My best friend had sent me chocolate from San ANtonio, TX!! So I am guessing they take phone orders and do special deliveries? Anyway, it is an awesome place. You must go at least once!! read more

I was stationed there 50 years ago and decided to drive through to see how Beaufort had changed. We saw the Chocolate Tree and decided to stop in . We love dark chocolate.the selections was very nice. Liked the molds for the different services and occupations. So we bought a bag of dark chocolate cranberries and a box of assorted truffles. When we got home we tried the truffles and they were some of the best, if not the best ,we've ever had. The dark chocolate cranberries were amazing. And best of all the prices were better than any truffle place we've been in. read more

It's a good thing their chocolate is so good because the service is not. There may be two or three ladies behind the counter and anywhere from one to three customers waiting for service and they will busy themselves, deliberately not speaking or making eye contact with customers. Then when customers press closer and closer to the counter, one might finally cave in and bark out "Can I help you?" like she'd rather not. Forget any special accommodations or personalizations to your package. You get what you get. If they had any competition, they would be in trouble, but alas, they don't. Friendly service, good selection, and they encourage you to try samples. The sugar free selection is limited, and would love to see more fudge, but the prices are reasonable and it is a funky little stop when you are walking around Beaufort. read more

Wow, someone needs to talk to sales people about customer service, glad to see I am not the only one to feel this way. After many years of not being to Beaufort, I was excited about my visit today 4/9/18. I was disappointed to see that alot of the plas we patronized while living there were no longer in business. But so EXCITED that the Chocolate Tree was still in business!! I love their dark chocolate apricots and could not wait to get there to get one. Upon entering the store, a lady with longer gray hair with no type of friendliness ask if she could help us. I simply ask, "do you have any dark chocolate apricots" at which she SNAPPED, if there are not any in the case then it means we don't have a". Well excuse me...........number one I have no idea where they would be in their cases and second sometimes things are behind the counter as perhaps they had run out and not stocked yet!!! Pretty much set my day for what I thought was going to be a enjoyable day in Beaufort! If they keep this attitude up, chances are they will not be open either the next time I visit town! read more

I love chocolate. In order to not be pretentious, I have to refrain from doing "air quotes" when I say "white chocolate". You know what I mean. My husband does not like chocolate - he prefers chewy, fruit flavored candy . That said, we both LOVE the Chocolate Tree. I love any and all barks. We both love the fruit slices and the Cherry Mango Splash (a "white chocolate" bark with tasty hard candy throughout). I adore the almond bark, with tasty almond flavor throughout like any good bark. They make the chocolate in house. When we first moved to SC we lived in a 19' trailer on St Helena Island (http://www.tuckinthewood.com/). We had 1 vehicle and my hubby worked in Beaufort on Boundry Street so the CT was a frequent stop on my way to pick him up. We've since opened our own business in the capital of Columbia, but Beaufort and the Sea Islands still hold our hearts. This place was amazing! My husband and I got a variety of assorted chocolates and they were to die for. The Oreo bark was my fav as well as the sea salted caramel. They had some fun chocolates that the kids bought. We really enjoyed this little shop. My husband and I decided to make a weekend trip back down in the future and we plan on making this one of our stops. read more
