food was pretty good but the service could have been better. felt rushed through the whole meal. as soon as the drinks came the server wanted our food order, we asked for a couple minutes and she was back in less than 1. ordered a shrimp cocktail for a starter the cocktail sauce was really tasty. about 1 minute after the appetizer was delivered our salads were brought to the table, the caesar salad was very good. the entrees came out a few minutes later and the check was dropped off. i asked the server what they had for dessert and she walked away and brought me a menu to look at. i hate that, just tell me. felt like she was bothered by us being there, and it was my birthday. probably wont be back read more

This will be a short review. Simply just come here and order the lobster bisque. Unreal!!!! Deviled eggs come with caramelized bacon. You just need to try it. I came here when I was visiting with one of my former soldiers and NCO. The food was great minus the way my steak was cook. Might have been my fault. This was maybe my fourth or fifth time at this establishment, and I'm still not impressed. The service here is usually pretty slow and not very friendly. This time, our waiter was a pretty nice, courteous, friendly young man. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip for an app (came out a little over luke-warm with stale chips), my friend gt the 10oz ribeye with bleu cheese butter and mashed potatoes, and I ordered the crab cakes with broccoli. My crab cakes were alright - they had a TON of filler, and not much crab meat at all (expected) - they were also deep fried, which I didn't know until they came out (I think I'm indifferent about that part). My friend enjoyed her food (she always does because she'll eat anything lol). One of the owners came out and was checking on all the tables throughout our dining experience - I gave him my honest opinion (which sometimes I don't like to do when I'm in uniform - as I was this visit) and he took the critiques pretty well. Stopped here for dinner on a Tuesday night with friends. The selection was decent, especially if you are not feeling a steak at that moment in time. I had the lamb chops, which came with macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes and apples The lamb chops were well cooked, very flavorful. I would say that overall I was a bit disappointed with this restaurant. The pork chops I ordered were way over cooked and the steak my friend had was average at best. We ordered wine and it was obviously day or two old and for the price, not up to the quality that one would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. We asked to speak to the bartender and he admitted that he really didn't know much about wines, which we could understand, but he also didn't have a clue about any aspect of wines other than colors. Went here for a birthday dinner and I will not be returning. It shouldn't take 20 minutes to receive a glass of wine and a bottled beer for our table. Also never bought our drinks until the server was ready to take our order for our food. The food came and the appetizers never showed. I think my server was overwhelmed with other tables. He greeted me and told me he'd get me some water while I decided on a drink. He brings the water, drops it off, and goes to his other tables. Eventually he sees me and it dawns on him that I haven't ordered so he asks for my order. I told him I wanted an appetizer (I was not asked if I wanted one), I gave him my order, and he was about to leave when I told him I still hadn't ordered a drink. I ordered steak, he was about to leave again without asking me how I wanted it cooked. Fast forward---The appetizer comes out with cheese sprinkled on it. I don't eat cheese. They take it back to the back, change plates, pick off the pieces that have too much cheese on it, and brings it RIGHT back. So now it doesn't have as much food on it but I don't complain when other people are in charge of my food. My steak comes out soon after. Not once did he bring me any bread. As I am packing up my meal, I ask him for some to go. But I saw him be so attentive to other tables so I'm not sure why my service was lacking. But the food was good. We had dinner tonight. Very disappointing. Our meal came after 3 forkfuls of salad. My Prime Rib was only warm. Our reservation was for 7:15, and we were out the door by 8:10. Our waitress was not seen to complain to until she brought the check. Our conversation with the manager was, to put it mildly, less than satisfactory. If I wanted fast food, I had many choices. To come to a "good" restaurant to spend $100.00 and have an experience like this is unacceptable. We cancelled our reservation for tomorrow. read more

Neat little place. I was visiting Augusta with some family, and we decided we'd hit up this place. The food was pretty good. We went at lunch, and I we found the prices to be really good for the lunch menu. The deviled eggs with brown sugar bacon were amazing; unfortunately you only get 6, so our table of four finished them up pretty quickly. I got the blue cheese bacon burger, and it was well cooked, and delicious. I barely finished all of it, definitely a good portion size. My sister in law got the shrimp and crab cake combo, it was also pretty good. The portion size of this wasn't quite as good as mine, but it was 12 which is hard to beat for shrimp and crab cakes. Also I got a Balsamic Blue Cheese Chopped Salad, it was just okay, actually the vinegar made the lettuce a little soggy, I'd probably pass on the salad next time. I really want to try the chicken voodoo tacos, they sound really tasty. I think my oldest nice got a sandwich, but can't recall what kind. My youngest nice only likes mac and cheese, she seemed pretty happy with their mac and cheese. The service was good, but a little slow, it was lunch right after Christmas, so I think they were pretty swamped. Also it was nice that day, but they had a fire going, which looked nice, but it was too hot in there. Overall I did like the layout and ambiance of the restaurant. It is attached to the mall, so if you need to visit the mall, or just wanna make a day-trip to Augusta, this place would be a good choice. read more

This was a great resturant. We went there with about a party of 15 or so and they were able to accommodate we sat outside which is great other than the Nets but that is the way of outside eating LOL. The food was great but my steak was awesome!! Also come to find out that they have military Mondays which is half off of everything to shame I just found out about it and I'm leaving on Friday and I've been here for eight months but I did get a chance to enjoy their great food I definitely would recommend and return. read more

I had the prime rib, and it was cooked just right....almost didn't need a steak knife, I think a butter knife would have worked just fine. Steamed broccoli was just a bit over cooked, but it did the job. I ate at the bar as I often do when traveling alone, and they really need to have those wooden extenders like outback has.....the bar was just too far away for me.... We enjoy this restaurant. The atmosphere is pleasant, although it gets particularly warm when it is crowded. The food is always prepared well, and the portions are generous (especially for what you pay). My only complaint is that the service is mediocre. Every time I have gone it has taken a very long time to get our food (often we wait for half an hour before our order is taken, and then we will wait at least an hour for our food), and something is always forgotten or missing. I wouldn't mind if this was an occasional occurrence, but it's a constant. Thankfully, we really like the food and the military discount is very generous. If the service was faster and more attentive, this would absolutely be a four-star review. read more

An underwhelming experience. The server was friendly but very forgetful. The atmosphere was mellow and had a good vibe to it. The bread serving plates where brought out still wet and I had to use my napkin to dry it off. Which later I found out had a dried food stain on it which looked like mashed potatoes. I had the pacific salmon which wasn't too bad but I didn't like the massive broccoli that was placed on my plate. I can understand if it was to fit the team of being a" Chop" house but it was cumbersome. The kid's meal was like any other kids meals. My wife's crispy chicken salad looked good besides the bacon bits. They looked like they where scooped out of the cold bacon grease and place oh her plate. Most people go to Chop House for steaks and seafood and all of their items are great, but I absolutely love their Chop House burger. Chophouse has the best burger in town! The next time you are in the mood for a cheeseburger, be sure to try it. You will not be disappointed! read more

The first time we went there it was pretty good. My husband took his small intercity church there for a Christmas party lunch and said it was great. So we went 01/04/19 and it was awful. They were obviously not busy but service was very very slow. The chopped steak was very greasy and the mushrooms and onions were cooked to a mush. Too expensive for such bad food. Won't go back. My husband 's sweet potato was cut in half too much butter or oil cooked in food. His salad was loaded with blocheese which was not mentioned on menu and he is allergic to blue cheese. The Chop House is nicely appointed with wood and has subtle lighting. It has two sets of bar areas facing the monitors - which was a nice touch for whoever thought lf it. I was impressed by the simple, yet upscale nature of the location. Yet, bad customer service from the beginning almost made me walk out, but it turned out to be a better experience later. We went to sit at the bar and expected the usual service. Instead of a greeting, we were confronted by some skinny, glasses-wearing waiter who just looked like she did not want to be here. All she said was 'Something to drink?', poured some water haphazardly to where it spilled on the counter and walked over to someone else - giving a greeting and trying to act as though she wanted to work now (possibly a friend). I just simply asked another waitress if she could help us; the first one then tried to look like she was dumbfounded by the fact that i did not want bad service all night. The next waitress was good, so i went on to order. We then ordered the crab cakes and two T-bones; the food was about average. The crab cakes are more bread than crab, but had a nice fresh taste to them; therefore, they are good for the cost especially considering they come with a side. We ordered the cinnamon apples - which were on par with everywhere else i have been. The water did not have a weird aftertaste and the wine came out at sufficiently low temperature. The salad was sub-par, but who goes to a steak house for good salad? The T-bones were huge, but had no good taste. I waited before i put A1 sauce on it, so i could taste it in its pure form; i threw A1 on it after 2 bites. I have gotten used to a lot of restaurants, like Dantanna's in Atlanta, that put rubs on their steaks. This was bland by comparison, but was adequately cooked; I ordered well done and there were still places in the steak that were red though. It was not a problem, since i have an iron stomach, but i do have a very discerning taste. The baked potatoes should be swapped out for something else, if you choose to order steak; they are obviously sitting in some oven somewhere just getting dried out. I can recommend this place because of the city it is located in and the limited options; however, in the grand scheme of the world, The Chop House is somewhat mediocre in food quality. read more

I only write reviews for places that are above and beyond and places that are bad. We went with a group of 12 people. The service was good for that large of a group. The restaurant was full of diners. When we received our meals, 2 of the women in our group asked for med/rare steaks that were well done. They returned them and were brought new plates after everyone else was finished eating. My ribeye was over cooked and poor quality. Two other men at our table took their ribeyes home for their pets. Don't waste your money. Overpriced, poor quality meat. With the amount of money our table spent on dinner you would have expected better. The last time I went there I said to myself I wouldn't return. The only reason I did is because it wasn't my party. I will not waste my money there again. read more

I have been here many times. This used to be my "go to" restaurant. Sad to say, but this was a disappointing experience. My wife and I ordered the pork chops. Both our orders came out over cooked and tough as leather. The service was slow and not very attentive. We asked for the manager to discuss our poor quality meal. He agreed it would take a chain saw to cut the pork chops and ordered us a replacement. The second time around was better, but by then we had been there for over two hours. Came here for my parents anniversary. We called ahead of time to request a private table and a seasoned server because of my parents' dietary restrictions. Our server, Tara, did an incredible job of making their anniversary dinner super special. She helped us manipulate the dishes to our needs and brought a card, and cake out at the end of our meal. Granted, I'm not the biggest chain restaurant fan, but I've definitely had chain restaurant food on this tier (and below this tier), and left reasonably satisfied that my meal's quality at least somewhat justified the expense. And granted, this wasn't the most expensive meal I've paid for, but it's still an above-average expenditure for a new parent learning to really treasure nights out with the wife. I try to be a reasonable man, but principle is important to me. Walking in, it was immediately apparent that the FOH had over-booked reservations like they were trying for a Guiness World Record. We were made to stand in the entrance and wait for half an hour past our reservation time of 8:00, which we booked a week in advance (all of this whilst paying for a babysitter). At one point, a table for two was seated before us after I distinctly heard them announce that they had an 8:15 reservation...what?!? Speaking of which, FOH was apparently staffed only by one poor girl who was answering the flood of incoming phone calls to the point that she couldn't acknowledge the guests crowded around her, waiting for their reserved tables. It was a good five awkward minutes before she looked up from her podium to acknowledge us. If that wasn't weird enough, she was being aided by a sweaty, unshaven man wearing an apron, a moo moo, dirty kitchen pants and crocs who was awkwardly and too-infrequently showing folks to their tables. Not a good start to a now-too-rare evening out. Upon finally getting seated, we ordered drinks and an appetizer; my wife wanted to try the Sweet Corn Tamale Cakes. This came out as basically cornbread muffins with some pico de gallo piled on top, with sour cream, one small chunk of avocado per, and some chipotle and Liquid Smoke-flavored mayonnaise. $10 for that. Woah. While not disgusting, let's not try to church up a corn muffin too much. Our Salads came out without a hitch, and proved to be the best part of the meal; their house-made dressings were very enjoyable, and the vegetables were fresh and crisp; they even seeded their cucumbers by hand. Very nice. However, if your salad is the highlight of a meal at a steakhouse, something is inherently wrong. I ordered a sirloin steak (impossible to screw up a sirloin, right?), medium-rare, and specified that I didn't want any special seasonings. Just meat, salt/pepper, and wonderful caramelization. When it came out, aside from the fact that it looked like Kobe Bryant had slam-dunked the steak onto the plate from the free-throw line whilst LeBron James shot each piece of broccoli onto the dish for three from across the kitchen, the steak appeared darkly caramelized and delicious. But upon closer inspection, what I actually got was a steak covered in some pseudo-teriyaki-ish, worcestershire sauce-ish glaze substance that left an aftertaste akin to Jack Link's Beef Jerky. Again, I just wanted meat, salt and pepper. IMHO, a steakhouse should let its beef and the technique of its kitchen do the talking, not rely on add-ons to enhance a mediocre steak. That said, the manager quickly had this corrected and very generously brought me a new steak, cooked as ordered. However, without the aforementioned "glaze," I noticed that the steak was now very grey and that while the internal temperature was more or less correct, it had not been properly caramelized with a nice crust on the outside. Due to the relaxed looseness of the grain of the meat, I suspect, but cannot prove, that at some point this meat was dry-brined in salt to enhance tenderness. It was a borderline success, but when paying over $20 for a sirloin steak, I prefer that it be at least as good as I can prepare in my own kitchen. To put this in perspective, I must reluctantly admit that I, at some point, had a sirloin steak at Ruby Tuesday (DON'T JUDGE ME) for much less money, and theirs tasted as good or better than this one did, which is amazing considering that theirs probably came out of a plastic bag (and not the Sous Vide kind). Right hand on my heart, I tell you the truth, this steak was not worth the price, especially after all the runaround. I definitely want it said that the dining room service was excellent, and that my dissatisfaction is in no way a reflection of the quality of our server; she was very efficient and helpful, and the manager with whom I spoke was incredibly polite and understanding. It was a busy night for them and I know the staff was being pushed, so kudos to the dining staff for keeping their cool and to the kitchen staff for pushing food out in a timely manner. I cannot comment on the decor or ambiance, as there were too many people stuffed into every nook and cranny, plus my wife was too ravishing to justify a break in my visual attention. read more

Was in town visiting my folks and craved a steak. Saw this on Yelp and almost didn't come because of the reviews. But I'm glad I did because we had a wonderful rib-eye here tonight. It was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. Although tasty I'd skip the mac&cheese- too soupy and light colored. I prefer really cheesy with a firmer texture.
