The food was juicy and full of flavor. The Ribeye was tender enough to cut with a butter knife. The asparagus was grilled and not mushy. All of the food was outstanding. This hidden gem was what my husband and I needed for a night out. It reminded me of a cute, quaint, romantic spot in Birmingham. The hostess was very cordial as was the server. I will say she was the best in the place and we made sure to let her know when we left her a nice tip! She's a treasure! The food was absolutely delicious. I started off with the crab cake as an appetizer. My husband had calamari. We chose the filet mignon and cowboy ribeye with an added lobster tail for our entrees. Everything was seasoned to perfection. I had only one small issue which was that my steak came out warm instead of hot. I mentioned it to our server but declined sending it back. I declined because I didn't want to wait and have my husband finish eating before I could eat and it was as seasoned so well until I just looked past that small detail. My buddy and I were in for a guys golf trip weekend. To be transparent is has been in the food industry for over 35+ years and owner of various different restaurants for 25 years and has been very successful. I am just a guy who likes good food and service. We previously tried this establishment last year around the same time. since it was the same event in town. At that time we both ordered the 8 ounce Chatel filet.... Bottle of wine, decent food and fun. Nothing to write home about but we tried and we left without the "we have got to go back!" I was in Indy, IN all last week for work and had the awesome experience of St. Elmo's 3 times and each time was better than the previous visit and was treated with white gloves and amazing service. Fast forward to 10/25/2025... Buddy decided on the same 8 ounce filet with mediocre at best with 2 small onion rings. No sides since they he thought sauce was not needed. Since I had steak the previous week I opted for the "Special" (I was honored to buy the last one, lucky me!) which was Sea Bass (See reviewer on 10/3/2025 on similar situation) and the 5 - 6 ounce portion came with room temp. fingerling potatoes and asparagus. I asked for sauce (Hollandaise) as well for my dish. Although the kitchen is approx. 18-20 ft from the bar all the food including the fried Calamari all of which was look warm... While we were waiting for the food three things completely caught me off guard for a high end "Steak" establishment. 1. Lobster - I guess the they most have sold out of lobster since we had a 7 PM reservation early. There were 2 poor lobsters in the tank that could barely be over a 1lb. Hope they are still having fun lookin at all the suckers in the place. 2. The world series was on and we were sitting in the bar and were given the controller. Only 4 seats at bar and another 4 2 seater high tops. The owners CAN'T afford TV so nothing to watch. What's the point of even having a TV, just say it does not work! 3. THE WORST PART. The "head chef" came out complaining how hot it was in the kitchen and came out to the bar area. HE was sweating in a black T-shirt!!! and THATS THE CHEF, no jacket or anything? AND this is the guy cooking my "Weekly Special" to the tune of $82 BUCKS?...yes $82 US DOLLARS for warmish piece of fish. My buddy looked at me and showed me the bill and I almost choked when I read it. My buddy played it cool and made a comment about the price of the fish in a professional manner and we were told, well, the hollandaise sauce is a special and takes time to make...without the sauce the food would honestly been bland. For reference you can go to the Wilcox down the street for Sea Bass and there price on the menu is $47.00. Can I guess they buy the same fish from the same place, can't be for almost double the price right? For the ending, I do not drink and ordered a non-alcoholic drink with dinner. I ordered the lemoncello cheesecake for dessert which was the best part of the menu. What surprised me is that they offered me a lemoncello shot along with this. I let my buddy drink it for obvious reasons. He took a sip to be kind to the server and said is was WAY to sweet. The bartender agreed and then threw it out right in front of us and laughed. If you know it's bad, why serve it? And that my friends is how you spend $225 bucks for a meal we will never forget. We've been fans of Prime since before the ownership change so we had expectations. And boy were they met! The thing we've always liked about Prime is the service and personal attention. Suzanne always took care of us, remembered our names and preferences. While we were sad to see her leave, Kat brings the same vibe. And we're happy to see our favorite servers - Raven is great! - still there and some new favorites too - Emily is awesome! We are also happy to see that the menu has only had minor changes. We have confidence that Chad and his crew will add interesting items to complement what was already great about Prime. The crab and shrimp cocktails are generous and served with a cocktail sauce that is unforgettable. Steaks are always great - that is what they are known for - and I hear Chad and crew are working on getting their own cattle operation going so it will probably get even better. I've seen a few reviews on here complaining about prices but we think it's a bargain. Yes, you can get a cheaper steak but not with this level of attention. There isn't a hole in this restaurant's service, ambiance, or menu. Every person from the hostess to the waitstaff to the kitchen staff = perfection. I ordered the rack of lamb and my husband ordered one of the ribeyes. Each cooked a TRUE medium rare! (unlike some places where I have to say "rare" to get medium rare and "mooing" to get rare)! The orders come with a family style (read: shareable) salad and potatoes OR spinach on the side. I had the creamed spinach and it was out of this world. You can order sides a la carte and they come with enough for two people. Husband ordered the Lobster Mac and I was skeptical. I've tasted a lot of "Lobster Macs" over the years that were really light on the lobster. This wasn't! This was a decadent dish with tender pasta and lots of lobster flavor. Oh! We had escargot as an appetizer, too. Very good, but it was served out of the shell...which is probably for the best. The sauce it was served in was delicious. Neither of us had room for dessert, but we did try the coffee that had come highly recommended from a friend. Not surprised that it was delicious as well. I hate saying this, but this is the first place Olive Garden would win the salad and bread contest as the bread here could be used as a brick. Our entries also came with sides that you don't get to pick (mashed potato and two onion rings) You do have the option of extra sides that serve two but at $6 to over $10? I've been in Aiken for a while but had never tried Prime. I've eaten is at of the major steak places from Peter Lugers, to Morton's, Fleming's , Ruth Christ. I expected that Prime would follow their long established lead. They didn't, with the exception of their pricing. The service was amateur, the steaks were underwhelming as were the sides. Very disappointed, I took my 17 yr old grandson out to dinner for his birthday. The Wait staff were nice. I was given a beer which had a bug in it. They brought me another half beer, also with a bug in it. They forgot part of our orders. The meat was not what they advertised, very fatty and not a prime cut. The Lobster Bisque was excellent. The service was outstanding. The only 2 suggestions 1) The salad needs to be improved a notch to align with the rest of the offerings. The house dressing was excellent; iceberg lettuce was a disappointing choice for the greens ... iceberg is simply too common and has little nutritional value. Anything common simply doesn't fit with the rest of the menu. 2) Frozen fried onion rings look suitable beside the steak. But please do a fresh option instead. I read the reviews before coming here and was ready for mediocre food and service but the choice of steak houses around Aiken were slim and this menu looked good so I thought I would give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised, the food was real good and the service was perfect. My only complaint was that I didn't want mashed potatoes and I wanted to substitute it for a baked potato which I am sure might have been a up charge but no biggie , the waitress said no so I would have had to have to mashed potatoes and a baked potato , I found it odd and went with the mashed and they were good. The neighborhood seemed nice but parking was a little hard . I would rate this place four and a half stars but they don't offer half stars. Give this place a try, I will be back read more
