Cracker breading from the lobster and lump crab mac & cheese

My brother-in-law and I picked this place for a special occasion. When we arrived, the hostesses greeted us warmly and directed us to our tables. Ashley was our server and, before I get too far into this review, she was awesome. I feel confident saying so on behalf of my family, as well. The interior lights were low and my sister and I identified the decor as masculine. My sister called it a massive man cave, especially because of the large screen monitors tuned in to the sport action of the day over top a large bar. To be fair, I only experienced one section of the restaurant but there appeared to be at least two more--a wine room perhaps? The only food item I ordered was the lamb chop pops. OH EM GEE!!! SO delicious with and without the mint sauce! This was my first time ordering lamb chops from any restaurant. (I usually cook them for my husband.) There were so many pops that I shared with my husband and sister, ate till I was full, and took four home. Normally I would ask others how their meals tasted or I'd take some from my husband. This time I was too focused on my own dish. I also ordered the garlic spinach but had not eaten any at the restaurant. My husband grabbed a spoonful and declared that it was really good--and he isn't easily impressed or declarative. I also took home a dish with elements that I love separately and combined--lobster and lump crab macaroni & cheese. Once I got home, that was the first thing I grabbed. I couldn't wait!!! And I was sooo disappointed. The cheese was great. The lobster meat was present and there was a good amount of it. But the lump crab meat was nowhere to be found. I KNOW lump crab meat because I eat it a few days each week. In addition, the dish tasted mildly sweet--it was a very mild taste. AND, as I ate (looking for the elusive lump crab meat) I came across weird looking pieces, which I later deciphered to be crackers. Specifically, it looked like a Ritz cracker, initially hidden by the main ingredients. I think the sweetness was coming from crumbled cracker on top of the dish. To me it was like raisins in the potato salad. I scooped out wet cracker pieces (pictured) so that I can enjoy the rest of the meal that didn't have the lump crab meat. My disappointment in this dish is the sole reason why I gave this place four stars. The next morning I warmed up the lamb chops in the air fryer. Day 2 tasted ok. The finish had a liver-like texture. At night I ate the spinach. Very good. I recommend going. My sister loved the tomahawk, the seafood, and beverages. My husband ate the steak, the kids loved their cheeseburgers and all the gooey cheese. And I thoroughly enjoyed my lamb chop pops. However, if you order the lobster and lump crab meat mac & cheese, make sure the name matches the dish. Go.

If you are looking for a spot to celebrate a special occasion, the ChopHouse should definitely make it on to the list. To help you narrow down your choices, allow me to share our most recent visit. We had not been to The Chophouse in a long time, as it is an area that we don't frequent. However, we had a little something to celebrate and my mom wanted to take us out for a family dinner. Valet parking is available, with about half the lot being reserved for these spaces. It almost seems unnecessary but it definitely adds to the upscale feel they're trying to evoke. We were greeted by three young hostesses, which brought me back to my days as a teen at my first restaurant job. They escorted us to our table in a far back room surrounded by windows overlooking the lake. The views were stunning, the only caveat is the acoustics in the room cause it to be loud. If you're looking for a romantic evening, you're going to have to sit super close to each other or yell, but the views make it worth it. I started with a sangria while my husband ordered the smoked old fashion and our mothers stuck to water. The smoked old fashioned was presented more uniquely than we had ever seen before. We are used to the little smoke presentation with a cloche but this was something I can't even describe. The bread presentation consisted of a few flatbread like crackers and assorted rolls. We decided to skip appetizers and went straight for entrees. My husband and I did the tomahawk for two and for the table we ordered the lyonnaise potatoes and brussels sprouts. My mother in law got the scallops and my mom did filet mignon. The tomahawk was cooked to perfection and served with four dipping sauces. As someone who is obsessed with sauces, this was a highlight for me. Everything was delicious as expected and of course we had to have dessert since it was a celebration. My mother in law opted for the brownie sundae which was actually steaming from the warm brownie and she devoured. My husband and I shared the chocolate layer cake, which of course was great. The noise level and difficulty to socialize is really the only downside. The views are beautiful and food was great.

Service was great, filet mignon was exceptional, the lobster was good, the side dish potatoes with onions were awesome, the atmosphere was pleasant, clean, and inviting. Drinks were fine.

5 star experience my first time here for my wife's 30th. This is definitely a special occasion type of spot if you want 4 courses, not that you have to spend that type of momey, but that's what we did...and every penny was well worth it. Our server Destiny was insanely sweet, knowledgeable about the menu imside and out, and attentive - like request her if you go good. We definitely will next time! Ambiance- beautiful inside with a classy firetable and two well appointed, modern bars. Complimentary bread was good. Soups were excellent. Spicy three pepper calamari- that's a must order app! On to the important stuff - the steaks. My bone-in ribeye was the most flavorful steak I've ever eaten. I've had dry aged cuts elsewhere, but the flavor of this steak was insane. One bite in I knew this was more than a steak...this was an experience. Kona crusted filet topped with jumbo lump crab meat - also out of bounds good. Great cocktails, and ended it with coffee and a brownie sundae that was big enough to split. It's cool when you expect a place to be good and it exceeds those expectations. Well done chophouse. FYI - valet only, so bring cash.

I came here for my birthday and had a pleasant experience. We were seated pretty fast and the service was attentive to our needs. My steak was cooked perfectly and my crème brûlée was delicious. I'd definitely come back!

My response from Colleen to wanting to sit by the windows.

I was planning a 60th Birthday dinner for my boyfriend for 17 people. Colleen was most unhelpful. My only request was to sit somewhere with windows. I did not want to sit in a dark room. She continually ignored my request, had no desire to help plan the dinner, it was like pulling teeth to get any answers from her. The picture included is after 15 emails back and forth. The picture is her response to me asking to sit on the patio or by the windows. She decided we would be better suited to sit in a dark basement that looks like a prison cell. She was dismissive and rude throughout the process which ultimately made me go elsewhere to plan my party. If she is an indication of how my dinner party would go I did not want to move forward. Spend your money elsewhere, if you're planning a $3000 dinner you will be treated like a waste of their time. Do not go to this restaurant unless you like being treated like a bother. My party is now planned at a high end steakhouse with very accommodating and helpful staff! Best decision to stop engaging with this joke of a restaurant.

Had an amazing birthday dinner with my wife! We ordered the tomahawk steak for two--it was incredible, so savory. I tried the Smokin' Old Fashioned, which came with a torch and a smoky presentation--such a cool experience. They even gave me a complimentary birthday crème brûlée, which was a nice touch. Our server was excellent, perfectly timing everything after asking if we were in a rush. The oysters were great too. Overall, a fantastic place for dinner. My wife did mention I should note that they only had one small bathroom available--lol!

This is the central joke of the The Wine Bar and Italian Kitchen, which sits like a well dressed guest who has wandered into the wrong party and decided to stay anyway. It lives inside The Food Hall at The Borgata, elevated just enough to suggest importance, but not quite enough to escape the gravitational pull of the surrounding chaos. The ambiance is odd. Not necessarily bad mind you, just...existential. You sip wine while someone nearby debates chicken tenders. It keeps you humble. And yet, the food. The food is very good. Complimentary bread arrived with olive oils and olives, which felt like a small act of kindness in a noisy universe. My wife and I began with a meatball appetizer special, a wise decision that rewarded us immediately. Six petite, tender and rich meatballs, the kind that makes you briefly forgive the invention of fast casual dining. I had the lasagna, layered and comforting, like a well organized memory. She had the chicken parmigiana, which achieved that rare balance of crisp and tender, as if someone in the kitchen still actually cared about cause and effect. Both dishes were executed with confidence, the kind that suggests this kitchen knows exactly what it is doing, even if the room around it is having an identity crisis. The wine was not bad. Not transcendent, not life altering, but entirely capable of doing its job, which is to make you slightly more agreeable to everything. Service was also very good. Attentive without hovering, present without becoming a character in the story. Four stars, because the food and service deserve applause, but the setting feels like dining inside a thought that has not quite been finished. Still, if you find yourself at The Borgata and hungry for an Italian meal that rises above its surroundings, this is a very good place to sit, eat, and wonder how you got there.

First and foremost, our server was excellent. Polite and prompt, friendly, everything you want in a server. My problem was the food ... I ordered the halibut, asked my server about the "seasonal veggies" it comes with (she mentioned asparagus, okay good) because I do love veggies, but there are some I just really do not. Unfortunately, those exact veggies arrived on the plate, and my entree looked more like stir fry. I don't like onions or peppers ... and they were the base veggie of the dish. The menu describes the "sauce" as a lemon citronette, and this dish was not at all what I was expecting. It lacked flavor, there was no sauce, not a hint of lemon (I even squeezed some on there & it didnt help :( ) I can get past some vegetables I don't eat, just pushed them to the side, but the halibut was so so so incredibly dry. It wasn't soft, or flakey, or moist. (I hate that word but it was the best way to describe what it lacked) It was like cardboard. I was trying to choke it down because I too, had just worked a serving shift for Mothers Day, & it was the first thing I was eating all day. My husband mentioned something to the server because he knew I wouldn't haha, I don't like to be a pain customer or send things back. Fortunately, they did take it off the bill, but it was just a bummer. Willing to try again in the future, & I'll just stay away from the halibut.

We didn't realize that the restaurant was a part of a country club until we arrived (no where in the reviews did it mention this) but we've done brunch at other country clubs throughout Jersey and it was wonderful. Upon entering the restaurant we saw their only brunch option was for a brunch buffet and from our quick scans of the buffet walking to the hostess stand we all decided we would not be doing brunch (pastries looked like they were from Coscto, warm food looked as though it had been sitting there for a while and the omelettes coming from the omelette station didn't look spectacular so we opted to do their lunch menu instead. Service was SSSLLLLLOOOOOWWWWW! From the very beginning until the very end. It took about 15 minutes before our server arrived to greet us, then another 15 for our first round of cocktails to come out, the about a half an hour for us to be told that they were out of 1 of the 3 appetizers we ordered ... so no lie, after being there a full hour we finally received 2 of the 3 appetizers and were then just able to order a second round of cocktails and our main courses. The cocktails weren't the greatest either. We thought perhaps the first round was our fault because we all tried their "blackberry espresso martini" and we knew it was a risk from the beginning ... so we ordered "safer" cocktails for round 2 and the prosecco based cocktails were even worse than the blackberry espresso martinis smh. I truly don't understand how one messes up prosecco + a splash of limoncello and cranberry (that was what was supposed to be in the cocktail) but they certainly messed it up, to the point where I didn't drink it. Our entrees finally arrived and WOMP WOMP WOMP! Overall every single one was MID at best ... and all I had was French onion soup and a wedge salad .... like how is it possible for those to be BLAH? Food was so MEH we didn't even take pics lol. Needless to say we all agreed we wouldn't be back and wished we had decided on what was our 2nd option for brunch instead.
