This place is beautiful. Really nice! Spacious and classy with a chill vibe. Great views of the lake from the back/downstairs of the restaurant and an active bar area. And who doesn't love a great bar? Nice place for an intimate dinner, cocktails, or a private party. The menu offers several steak choices however you're going to have lots of other options here also. I was impressed by the number of seafood dishes on the menu, ranging from tuna to scallops to halibut to sea bass. Really, any kind of fish you can imagine (within reason, of course). We sampled the Buffalo Shrimp and the Filet Kona Tips. Really good! Other Yelpers have commented on the quality of their cocktails and I can attest to that. They offer happy hour specials daily from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM (weekends included). Definitely take advantage of this. My favorite cocktail is a vodka dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives, and they make a perfect one here. PERFECT! My date knew that I fancy that particular martini and that was part of the reason why he took me there (major points scored)! What's even better is that he likes them also. We ate here after a golf outing and I must say this place rivals any of the top steakhouses in philly The ambiance was nice and although we ate indoors I took a peak at the outdoor space and it looked awesome. The steaks were excellent along with all the accoutrements we ordered. You would think pricing here would be a little more reasonable than the philly spots but it was pretty much the same pricing level. My first time out during the covid restrictions, we were seated in the newer downstairs patio over looking the lake. Service, view, and attention to detail was awesome. Our waitress was on point. Food was good. The calamari appitzer was huge! Onion soup was super gooey with cheese. The ribeye was cooked to perfection, was a bit salty, but topped it with the roasted wild mushrooms and enjoyed it. The seabass special was good as well. And to top it off the brownie sundae. Our first time to The Chophouse. Hands down the best steakhouse experience in South Jersey - and a comparable experience to the top steakhouse destinations in Philly (compare with Del Friscos, Capital Grill, Mortons, etc.). The atmosphere is elegant and upscale. The choices for cuisine focus on classi surf and turf selections. You MUST try the dry aged steak selections, especially the bone-in ribeye which is second to none (I am a steak lover and eat them 6-7 days a week both home and at restaurants across the nation on business travel). The Chophouse ribeye competes with the very best! We finished our meal with 3 desserts - creme brule (birthday complementary gift), cheesecake, and carrot cake. The cheese cake was dense and full of flavor (excellent texture) and the carrots cake was moist, lightly sweet, with just a touch if salty (the perfect flavor balance). We were served by Shelia, a long-time server here. Her level if service was spectacular. As recent residents to South Jersey from Dallas, we have found our new Steakhouse home. This is our new spot! We came to The Chophouse last Saturday for an event. Considering the circumstances we couldn't have left any happier. We arrived around noon and were escorted to our seats promptly. The view is beautiful! First, the drinks are amazing! The bartenders are a bit heavy handed but we didn't mind. The bartenders were very accommodating and friendly. We had a pre fix menu and my wife and I both went with the filet, mashed potatoes, veggies and cheesecake for dessert. We started with the crab cake and wild mushroom crostini. The crab cake while good was extremely small, maybe the size of a quarter. The remoulade was spot on and had just the right amount of spice. The crostini was equally as good and the melted cheese was a nice addition. My Caesar salad was underdressed for my liking and had only one crouton. As for the entrees they were spot on! The filet was cooked to perfection and cut like butter. The steak was much better without the sauce, thankfully it was on the side. The mashed potatoes were some of the best I've ever eaten. They were creamy, smooth and but a bit chunky at the same time. The veggies were way under cooked in my opinion. They were a bit less than Al dente, seasoned well enough though. The dessert portions were huge! 2 slices of cheesecake on each plate. I didn't care for the sauce and wish it was placed on the side. With a few minor tweaks this could have easily been 5 stars. From the service to the food, everything was good. We will surely be back! Solid 4 stars. read more

The Chophouse is a warm and inviting restaurant with a casual atmosphere and a great view of the lake. Recently, we hosted a private dinner for close family to honor my sister's wedding. The staff was super accommodating in all respects, even when we realized we had a few more people than we'd originally intended and needed to add another table to extend our party's table. The manager and his staff handled this sudden change with grace and kindness, offering us all a seat in the bar, resetting the table in record time and adjusting the rest of their evening reservations to accommodate our larger group. It was the kind of thing that would have caused a big issue at some restaurants, and I cannot say enough about how professionally it was handled. Once we got seated, the service was excellent, even for a party that was large. Everyone's glasses remained full, food was brought in a timely manner and the process of cutting the cake and then getting the cake served as also handled flawlessly. I really appreciated the thoughtfulness the staff displayed. They brought out my sister's cake on a tray and let it sit by the table for the second half of the meal so that people could go look at it, take pictures, etc. Then once my sister and new brother in law cut the cake and pictures were taken of that, they whisked the cake away, served it up, removed and packaged the topper, brought it out to the table ready to go and removed the tray that it had been sitting on all with flawless precision. The food -- both steak and seafood -- got rave reviews from our assembled group. I have never eaten here for a regular meal, but if the way our party was treated is indicative, I am certain this restaurant is top notch for service and food both for parties of all sizes. Not sure where to begin my review but let's start off by saying this place is severely overrated - probably due to the many $$$ next to it and all the "top tier" people who come in for their expensive food, for which the taste sadly does not match the price. We came here to celebrate my husbands birthday back in January. The atmosphere of the restaurant is pleasant with a nice view of the sunset over the lake. We were seated by the large windows but there was a chilly draft coming in (it was like 15 degrees out that night). So we requested to sit somewhere away from the windows. They went ahead and sat us right next to the fire pit. So basically they sat us from one cold extreme, to a hot extreme. My husband ended up with a headache from the heat. Ok whatever, they tried their best to accommodate our request. Anyways... As for the food, the bread and butter was amazing and the positive reviews for their food ends here. Let's start off with how I requested a sprite, to which they gave me seltzer water. My husband also ordered a sprite, as we are non alcoholic, and his came out fine. But then one of the workers walking by thought the one correct sprite we had was water and refilled the glass with water. Come on now. For appetizers we ordered the crispy calamari - it was basic. I've had better at other restaurants so there was nothing to really write about here. For my entree, I ordered the chefs special which had 2 pieces of 4oz filets with 3 pieces of shrimp and mashed potato. The birthday boy had done research on which steaks were popular here and decided to get the 22oz dry aged bone in ribeye and he opted in for the lump crab which was a complete joke. They charged $20 for "lump crab" which was barely a teaspoon worth of crab meat sprinkled on the steak. (See photo if you don't believe me) As for the taste of his special dry aged steak, it wasn't anything to write home about. I told our waiter that we were here to celebrate his birthday and they brought out a chocolate sundae brownie which had melted whipped cream all over the place and just looked unappetizing. They made sure to charge us the $10 for it too. I don't know how they can mess up such an easy dessert but they did. Considering how many high reviews I've read about the place, I was excited to dine here and had high expectations. Instead, I left the restaurant with an unhappy experience and $275 less in my wallet. I feel like people just hype up the place because it's high end, despite the food actually being good or not just so they can say they ate here. My niece and her husband had their celebratory wedding at Chophouse on a Sunday afternoon during the pandemic. All the tables were 6 feet apart as were the chairs at the table unless you were from the same household. It was in a beautiful room right on the water which was a more than beautiful ambiance. Everyone from the bartenders to the waiters were more than awesome making sure our water was always filled and coming around asking us if we needed anything. They served cocktails family style at the table due to the pandemic which was just perfect. We had lollipop lamb chops, mini crabcakes, bruschetta etc. Everything was delicious! You had the option to choose a salad and an entree. I opted for the mixed greens salad with house vinaigrette and ordered the salmon. So I had been here on several occasions and tonight was a business type meeting. I got there a bit early and asked when I came in the location of the business meeting dinner. What I got was attitude and the comment it did not start until 5:30pm. I was well aware of the start and asked where in the restaurant it would be. Strike 1. Next, went to the bar and gave an easy request to the bartender: 2:1 Woodford to St. Germain with orange peel and orange bitters. Oh. No orange bitters. They serve 65$ steaks but no orange bitters. Ok then. Drink was 12$. Not good. Strike 2. Next was the dinner meeting. Three choices and I made the terrible mistake of ordering the dry aged sirloin. It was simply awful. I ordered it Medium rare. Center was perfect but outside edges were over cooked. Surprisingly there was no flavor and was highly under seasoned.
