This was only my second time at the Chop House (my first being about year ago for my wife's birthday) even though my wife's family are what you could call regulars. My wife again chose The Chop House for her birthday dinner celebration and for great reason! We came on her birthday, a Tuesday evening, for drinks and appetizers in the bar area. The gentleman working valet was very respectful and professional and while I can take or leave valet in most cases, he definitely added to the upscale experience of the entire night. Upon seating ourselves at a high-top, both bartenders on shift greeted us with huge smiles and very warm hello's. They are familiar faces to my wife's family and were genuinely happy to see us. Unfortunately, we learned my wife's family's favorite server, Debbie, recently retired but great for her! The bartenders were fabulous themselves. Service, personability, mixology skills were all top-notch. They fit the sophisticated vibe of the restaurant perfectly. We started with drinks of course! A Stoli Elit Martini with a twist, a Dirty Martini, an Apple Butter Old Fashioned, and a Tito's and Club. The drinks came out beautifully. Smooth, chilled. I ordered the Apple Butter Old Fashioned as I was intrigued, but skeptical. While I thought it was good, I'd prefer a regular or Smoked Old Fashioned to the Apple Butter. My wife loved it though. We ordered lots of food to split and each appetizer we picked was as good if not better than the next. The Tuna Nachos fresh and had a tropical, savory flavor with pineapple mixed in. The Kona Tips were tender, full of flavor coming from the Kona crust and sautéed mushrooms/onions, and were served in a skillet full of sauce perfect for soaking up with bread. I actually liked the Kona Tips appetizer more than I liked the Kona Crust I got on my NY Strip I ordered last year (the Strip was great I'd just prefer no Kona crust on the entree). The Flatbread De Jour was a Kona Tip flatbread, which you may call us crazy for ordering two Kona Tip inspired appetizers, but the Kona Tips are just that good. The Oysters we had were small (just how I like them) and were up there with the best Oysters I've had. We finished up with Fried Calamari. They were lightly battered, fried nicely, tender, and served over a bed of different hot peppers (when I say hot, I mean it!). Everything was delicious and there wasn't one appetizer we chose that I wouldn't order again or recommend to others. We did order a few more drinks throughout the night -- another Elit Martini and a Hendrix Martini with the appetizers and then Bailey's on the rocks and Frangelico on the rocks as after dinner, dessert drinks. We ordered a Brownie Sundae for the table for my wife's birthday while she was excused from the table and the bartender brought it out with a lit candle. The bartender also brought out a complementary miniature Crème Brûlée for my wife as she acknowledged The Chop House's Crème Brûlée as one of her favorites earlier in the night when we were talking about the menu. I thought the entire night went as good as you could have hoped. Valet, bar service, food, drinks, desserts, atmosphere. Everything was amazing and most importantly my wife had a great birthday. This is two years in a row we celebrated her birthday at The Chop House and I wouldn't mind seeing this turn into her birthday tradition. read more

Surprised I haven't been here sooner. Very nice restaurant between fancy and casual with table & cloth napkins. Mike our server was fantastic! He checked on us through out our meal to ensure we were enjoying our meal. We had the calamari and dozen raw oysters which were both fresh and delicious. We had the Chophouse steak experience which worked out perfectly for our table of four and actually could've feed 5 easily. It consisted of 4 cuts of steaks and my favorites were the filet and ribeye. They were seasoned perfectly and grilled medium rare. Our sides were mashed potatoes, CH hash browns, and grilled asparagus. The weakest link was the asparagus which were small in size but still tasty. I will definitely be back based on service, food and value. This is a perfect restaurant for celebrations, dates and casual dining. Definitely a gem of a restaurant. My brother-in-law and I picked this place for a special occasion. When we arrived, the hostesses greeted us warmly and directed us to our tables. Ashley was our server and, before I get too far into this review, she was awesome. I feel confident saying so on behalf of my family, as well. The interior lights were low and my sister and I identified the decor as masculine. My sister called it a massive man cave, especially because of the large screen monitors tuned in to the sport action of the day over top a large bar. To be fair, I only experienced one section of the restaurant but there appeared to be at least two more--a wine room perhaps? The only food item I ordered was the lamb chop pops. OH EM GEE!!! SO delicious with and without the mint sauce! This was my first time ordering lamb chops from any restaurant. (I usually cook them for my husband.) There were so many pops that I shared with my husband and sister, ate till I was full, and took four home. Normally I would ask others how their meals tasted or I'd take some from my husband. This time I was too focused on my own dish. I also ordered the garlic spinach but had not eaten any at the restaurant. My husband grabbed a spoonful and declared that it was really good--and he isn't easily impressed or declarative. I also took home a dish with elements that I love separately and combined--lobster and lump crab macaroni & cheese. Once I got home, that was the first thing I grabbed. I couldn't wait!!! And I was sooo disappointed. The cheese was great. The lobster meat was present and there was a good amount of it. But the lump crab meat was nowhere to be found. I KNOW lump crab meat because I eat it a few days each week. In addition, the dish tasted mildly sweet--it was a very mild taste. AND, as I ate (looking for the elusive lump crab meat) I came across weird looking pieces, which I later deciphered to be crackers. Specifically, it looked like a Ritz cracker, initially hidden by the main ingredients. I think the sweetness was coming from crumbled cracker on top of the dish. To me it was like raisins in the potato salad. I scooped out wet cracker pieces (pictured) so that I can enjoy the rest of the meal that didn't have the lump crab meat. My disappointment in this dish is the sole reason why I gave this place four stars. The next morning I warmed up the lamb chops in the air fryer. Day 2 tasted ok. The finish had a liver-like texture. At night I ate the spinach. Very good. I recommend going. My sister loved the tomahawk, the seafood, and beverages. My husband ate the steak, the kids loved their cheeseburgers and all the gooey cheese. And I thoroughly enjoyed my lamb chop pops. However, if you order the lobster and lump crab meat mac & cheese, make sure the name matches the dish. Go. read more

If you are looking for a spot to celebrate a special occasion, the ChopHouse should definitely make it on to the list. To help you narrow down your choices, allow me to share our most recent visit. We had not been to The Chophouse in a long time, as it is an area that we don't frequent. However, we had a little something to celebrate and my mom wanted to take us out for a family dinner. Valet parking is available, with about half the lot being reserved for these spaces. It almost seems unnecessary but it definitely adds to the upscale feel they're trying to evoke. We were greeted by three young hostesses, which brought me back to my days as a teen at my first restaurant job. They escorted us to our table in a far back room surrounded by windows overlooking the lake. The views were stunning, the only caveat is the acoustics in the room cause it to be loud. If you're looking for a romantic evening, you're going to have to sit super close to each other or yell, but the views make it worth it. I started with a sangria while my husband ordered the smoked old fashion and our mothers stuck to water. The smoked old fashioned was presented more uniquely than we had ever seen before. We are used to the little smoke presentation with a cloche but this was something I can't even describe. The bread presentation consisted of a few flatbread like crackers and assorted rolls. We decided to skip appetizers and went straight for entrees. My husband and I did the tomahawk for two and for the table we ordered the lyonnaise potatoes and brussels sprouts. My mother in law got the scallops and my mom did filet mignon. The tomahawk was cooked to perfection and served with four dipping sauces. As someone who is obsessed with sauces, this was a highlight for me. Everything was delicious as expected and of course we had to have dessert since it was a celebration. My mother in law opted for the brownie sundae which was actually steaming from the warm brownie and she devoured. My husband and I shared the chocolate layer cake, which of course was great. My wife and I visited The Chophouse in Gibbsboro on 2/13 for a very special Valentines Day dinner and it was amazing! From the moment we were seated (at a fantastic table!), the evening felt special. Our server, Dawn, deserves major recognition. She was warm, funny, extremely knowledgeable about both the food and drink menus, and her recommendations were spot-on. She made the whole night even better. We started with the shrimp cocktail and soup special, then shared a beautifully cooked NY strip and lobster tail with a side of asparagus. Dessert--limoncello cake and cheesecake--was the perfect finish. We used to be Capital Grille regulars, but after this experience? We've found our new favorite. This is definitely a special occasion type of spot if you want 4 courses, not that you have to spend that type of momey, but that's what we did...and every penny was well worth it. Ambiance- beautiful inside with a classy firetable and two well appointed, modern bars. Complimentary bread was good. Soups were excellent. Spicy three pepper calamari- that's a must order app! On to the important stuff - the steaks. My bone-in ribeye was the most flavorful steak I've ever eaten. I've had dry aged cuts elsewhere, but the flavor of this steak was insane. One bite in I knew this was more than a steak...this was an experience. Kona crusted filet topped with jumbo lump crab meat - also out of bounds good. Well......this hurts a bit. I love this place. Been coming here for a very long time. The fact that their "Feedback" page on their website has been "not found" for months is a tell. First- The food and drink are ALWAYS good. But in the past 2-3 years, they have become so-so. You HAVE to know that when you order steak here, you MUST order it 1-2 levels RARER than what you want. 99% no fail. Thats it. That said the ambiance and service is great. I was planning a 60th Birthday dinner for my boyfriend for 17 people. Colleen was most unhelpful. My only request was to sit somewhere with windows. I did not want to sit in a dark room. She continually ignored my request, had no desire to help plan the dinner, it was like pulling teeth to get any answers from her. The picture included is after 15 emails back and forth. The picture is her response to me asking to sit on the patio or by the windows. She decided we would be better suited to sit in a dark basement that looks like a prison cell. She was dismissive and rude throughout the process which ultimately made me go elsewhere to plan my party. If she is an indication of how my dinner party would go I did not want to move forward. Spend your money elsewhere, if you're planning a $3000 dinner you will be treated like a waste of their time. Do not go to this restaurant unless you like being treated like a bother. While the food was very good, our waiter, Raymond, truly stood out! One person in our party was on a strict diet, and Raymond went above and beyond to accommodate their needs. He offered thoughtful suggestions when asked--and they were spot on. Our dieter ordered a simple lettuce wedge with vinegar. When Raymond checked in to see if we needed anything, the dieter jokingly asked for the other half of the lettuce head. We all laughed, but to our surprise, Raymond returned with more lettuce! We had the oysters- don't waste your money, they're tiny. Beef tar tar was decent, could be better with an egg or something for binding. Lobster bisque had no flavor. On to entrees, we got the bone-in ribeye. There was absolutely no flavor left on it. Need more seasoning. The sides that came with the steak do not help and were not needed. Lobster Mac n cheese also had no flavor and the pasta was undercooked. Brussel sprouts and garlic spinach needed more salt! Overall, this was not a pleasant experience. The manager came over and asked how the food was and I told her "the food is not good. It's lacking flavor" she did offer to replace the food but it's no point, it'll be the same outcome. They have a wonderful wine selection we enjoyed a Malbec and Sauvignon Blanc. They have a sommelier that assisted us picking out the perfect wines. For dinner we went with the Tomahawk, it was one of the largest portions we have seen in quite some time. It was cooked to perfection, medium rare! It was an explosion of flavor, and paired very nicely with the Malbec! We accompanied the steak with mushrooms, brussels sprouts and green beans. All very good! Was with my 90+ year old mom On a slow Monday night - 45-50 minutes after ordering still no main entree( chicken)-- manager said she wa doing me a favor for not charging me for the entree after i said i was leaving and had no intention of waiting for another 5 minutes after being told this for the last 20 mins "just 5 more minutes"-- would not tell me how they screwed up nor really apologize. Just not a professional manager for an upscale restaurant charging 50-75/pp when all said and done. Ended up eating part of mom's appetizer which was her meal.. overall- food not great- service non existent and it's like they say- it's not the crime it's the coverup- and also no real accountability.. first time i have ever written such a tough review but owner needs to know what's going on there-- and want to save folks some $$ and warm them to go elsewhere . read more

However, we were lucky enough to secure a seat in the bar at a hightop table. From the moment we sat down till the end, the wait staff was very tentative. My wife and I both had steak. She had New York Strip, without the bone, and I had the Kansas City ribeye. She and I also shared a wedge salad, buffalo shrimp and mashed potatoes. Without a doubt, the most expensive and flamboyant restaurant to be found in the city of Gibbsboro, NJ. Also, the one with the nicest dining view (of the water that is). The ambiance and menu are very nice, which is why as a Medical Sales Rep, I've taken physicians here for one on one "get to know you better" dinners. Every steak and cocktail I've had here are top-notch and prepared nicely with the right amount of seasoning (and alcohol..lol). This is definitely the place to go if you're into: people watching, an upscale happy hour and if you want to show off your Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche, Mercedes, or other high end vehicle (The parking lot usually looks like The Philadelphia Auto Show...just ride by some time in the evening and you'll see what I mean!) The service was good when I took my GF here for dinner, but with appetizers, entrees, drinks, and desserts, you can realistically expect to spend $200+ easily here for 2 people. The only issue I've had here was the Lobster Bisque. While it was tasty, it's also made with soy milk. This is how I discovered I have a soy milk allergy, which caused me to quite literally itch from head to toe. Thankfully, no Epi-Pen or hospitalization was needed (just anti-histamine tablets). But PLEASE keep this in mind IF you are allergic to soy in any form. read more
