I don't usually leave reviews but wanted to leave this as a cautionary advisory for folks: I'll start off by saying that we had a 5/5 star experience last Christmas (2022) at this place. We bought a noble fir the first weekend of December and it was gorgeous all through the holidays. The staff was very friendly and the service was great: Because of our amazing experience, we went back to them for a tree this year (2023). This time, they had Douglas firs available which was exciting because that's the tree I always had growing up and I love how they smell. Just like last year, the staff was friendly and the service was amazing, which is why I'm giving this review two stars instead of one, Unfortunately, this time the tree hasn't been so amazing. At this point I'd be surprised if it lasts until Christmas. Since getting the tree, it hasn't been drinking any water. We've drilled holes in the trunk and used warm water and everything. The bottom of the trunk itself is very moist, but the water doesn't seem to be getting to the rest of the tree. It sheds tons of needles every day and it's starting to turn brown, we can't turn the lights on the tree because I'm afraid a fire will start. This is extremely disappointing because I'm hosting my family for Christmas, and I won't be able to deliver on a nice tree for everyone. It's a bit depressing actually and it's causing me a lot of anxiety. I spent a lot of time decorating the tree, and the tree certainly wasn't cheap as it ran is almost $300. So if anything, this establishment is still a great place run by good people, but I would avoid the Douglas firs at all costs if you don't want a ruined Christmas tree. read more

1 ft to 20 ft tall fresh Christmas trees at reasonable prices, sold by some of the nicest folks you could ever hope to meet. There's a shortage this year that dates back to the 2008 recession when planters cut back on new seedlings, so don't wait till the last minute. Most sellers already have all the trees that they are going to sell, so best to get yours sooner and get it into water asap. We purchased a perfect (champion!) 6 ft Concolor Fir for $75. They trimmed the trunk, installed the base (purchased separately), and loaded it onto our car for free. We tipped them, of course. They also offer Fraiser, Douglas and Spruce trees. Concolor Firs are reputed to last the longest of all Christmas trees. They also smell like oranges *and* Christmas. We love to gather fir branches, which we use for our nativity scene. We've been coming to Montana Fresh for about 4 years now. Our first year, we found them by accident because our budget didn't allow us to get a tree until very close to Christmas. Every other lot and store was sold out of Christmas trees, but we found Montana Fresh while driving around in desparation. To our surprise, Montana Fresh had plenty of trees available, and we were fortunate to find one that fit our budget and brought Christmas home to our family. As many other reviews here have stated, the staff at Montana Fresh is the best in the business. That first year, we needed a Christmas tree stand and we were able to buy a used one from these fine folks. We were really surprised when they loaded the tree into the stand and had us check for its straightness. They then loaded the tree onto our car and secured it so we wouldn't have any worries getting home. That simple process of placing the tree in the stand before you leave the lot saves so much stress. When we got the tree home, all we had to do was cut the net off and pull the branches down into place. Each year since, we've simply brought our Christmas tree stand from the first year back with us, and we never have trouble finding the perfect tree quickly, having the fine staff cut the bottom off of the tree, provide us with great care instructions, trim any branches that we want trimmed, net the tree, load it into the tree stand and check for alignment, then secure it to the top of our vehicle for safe travel home. We pay a little bit more for the service and the impeccable quality of their trees. Each year, we've gotten our tree a little bit earlier - this year, on December 1st. Last year, I think we got it around the 8th of December, and it was still going strong in mid-January. This year, our tree stand was missing one of the handles, and the staff just replaced it for free. You won't find better people or better trees anywhere. We'll never buy a tree anywhere else, as long as we live within 50 miles of Montana Fresh. It's always a highlight of our Christmas season to visit this wonderful place, have the folks remember us and our son, and to leave happy and with the knowledge that we've got the right tree to make the season so special for us. Not sure how this place doesn't have more reviews because this place was such a good find! My boyfriend and I started our tree at a Papa Noel tent and were very disappointed. So we did some searching and found Montana Fresh! We arrived and everything was organized by type of tree and size, had easy to find and easy to read price tags. The workers were friendly and helpful, and the manager was willing to work with us on affording our perfect tree. We introduced ourselves and talked a bit while our tree was being prepared, and the guy preparing our tree happy obliged when I asked him to take our picture with the tree! Oh, they will also put your stand on for you and help you get it in or on your car! Papa Noel wasn't going to put our stand on! Checking out was easy too, we wanted to split the payment and they were willing to let us use separate cards! You could tell the lady had been working awhile but she was pushing through and being as helpful and friendly as you would expect! We will be back next year! Yup, this is a great place to get your christmas tree. Lots of different types of trees, lot is well laid out, trees are organized and clearly labeled, with options from little guys to multi-story vaulted ceiling scrapers. Friendly helpful staff. No truck or SUV, no worries, they'll arrange delivery at your convenience (for a reasonable fee) and set up the tree just where you want it. The tree stands they stock are rock solid; makes me ashamed of the cheapo stands I've used in the past. Folks, rest easy, your cats are not likely to topple your tree again. They really care about the trees; they're careful to cut back just when the tree is going to be set up. They caution to use hot water the first night, to make the sap flow better. We have come here every year since 2011 (the year we got our first REAL tree). We absolutely love them and their trees! They have the freshest trees that last forever. It's typically mid/late January before we finally undo the tree and the needles are just starting to get dry. I always feel really guilty because the trees have so much life left. They also sell the stands, and after 7 years ours was missing one of the stoppers. They surprised us and just put a new one on! The people are what really make it. They have the best customer service and really care about what they do. They water the trees every day, bundle them, put them in the stand for you, tie it to your car, and give you proper care instructions. They also offer delivery within a certain area in Austin, which we have done a few times over the years. One year they gave us a heck of a deal bc we just didn't have much money that year. This year they stayed open late and didn't make us feel rushed or anything....just for us. Literally we were the only ones there at 8:45p. They let us look around, played with our kids, and take our time to make sure we got just THE tree we were looking for. It's a family business and they make you feel a part of their family. This was our first time purchasing a natural tree for Christmas so I had no clue what to expect. I mean you just go pick one, pay and get in your car right, how hard can that be? We arrived and we were greeted and asked if we needed any help. I let the gentleman know this was our first time purchasing one and he explained all the different types of trees, the sizes and the tags on them. My family and I went in and started the search for our first tree. All of the trees were nicely organized in rows and had tags that will tell you what type of tree it was the height and price. Soon enough we found the perfect one for us. I let the gentleman know and since we were driving our car I let him know I could come back and pick it up. So he gave me the tag wrote my name down on a ribbon and took me to a tent to pay for my tree and the stand. There 3 ladies greeted me and helped me complete my transaction. I came back after dinner and they had my tree wrapped and ready they just cut the end of the tree, which he said helped open up the pores that have been clogged by sap. They then placed the stand and leveled it perfectly. The gentleman gave me clear directions on what to do as soon as I got home and on how to continue care. These people are friendly, welcoming and on top of it! Trees are beautiful and the prices are reasonable. This place will be our go to from now on! read more

I love this place! All of the trees looked great and everything was well organized. The staff were very friendly and personable. I asked to see the saddest tree they had (with the hopes of getting a Charlie Brown tree) and the staff were happy I was not letting one of their trees go to waste. They gave me a discount on my purchase and asked for me to send a photo of the tree when I was done decorating. They truly care about what they are doing and where their trees go. We found this place quite by accident. After going to three different places to try and find a real tree WITH a stand (a surprisingly very difficult thing to do a week before Xmas), I had given up and we were on our way home. As we whooshed down Burnet, I yelped when I saw Montana Fresh and my husband nearly jumped out of his seat thinking that we were about to crash. But all was A-Okay. This place was great. The people were friendly, they have trees of every size, and and the quality of trees were beautiful. I'll be the first to say that the prices were 100% - 200% more expensive then you'll pay at Home Depot or the like, but the quality and experience is so much better! After we picked out our special tree, they sawed it off, wrapped it up, fit it in the stand and loaded in my car. It was perfect. This review is in not a review of the staff, who were as kind and friendly as you would hope when buying a tree. This was our 1st time here and we were excited with the beautiful tree we found. It was the most we have ever spent on a tree. Unfortunately, it is days before Christmas and what started off as a beautiful voluptuous tree is now a sad withering fire hazard. We put our tree up as soon as we got home and filled the base with water and decorated it pretty. Over the next 2 days I kept checking to see if it needed water but the tree wasn't taking any. So, after reading about my options, we undecorated the tree hauled it outside and sawed off a good chunk to give it a fresh cut then redecorated. Unfortunately, it still did not take any water. So now, we're days before Christmas and we have a very sad tree in our house. In the grand scheme of things, after such a tough year, this is not the end of the world. But I'm bummed b/c it's my sons 1st Christmas and we're taking his picture in front of a tall dead Charlie Brown tree...which I guess is kind of funny. **moral of the story: don't spend $200 on a Christmas tree** read more

We now have the most spectacular Christmas tree and enjoyed the best shopping and delivery experience EVER. Our Austin house smells like we're camping in a forest, and the majestic 12 foot tree from Washington State is simply breathtaking. Coordinating delivery was a breeze. The boss and two crew members did an expert job of bringing it at the most convenient time for us and setting it up perfectly. Apparently they are continually getting fresh, fragrant, gorgeous newly cut trees from the Northwest throughout December, which is unusual around here. I am so glad I found this place-completely worth the trip from Dripping Springs! Absolutely beautiful and incredibly fresh trees, not just the usual varieties but also hard-to-find Grand firs, Nordmann firs, and even natural firs for the purists. The people are wonderful and helpful, and we were in and out in under twenty minutes because there was no need to hunt for a tree without a "tannenbum" (that's the bad side that you leave facing a wall), since we didn't see a single tree with a bad side. This is a darling tree lot next to St Louis Catholic Church on Burnet Rd! My husband and I have gone here ever since we moved to Austin. Our first Christmas in Austin was also our first Christmas as a married couple. When the attendant at the tree lot found out, he upgraded our tree-stand to the larger and better quality one and even gave us a small discount so that we could get the tree we were eyeing! They were so very kind and it made our first Christmas together extra wonderful! Since then, we have gone there to get our tree and have been pleased with the quality and longevity of their trees! This place is definitely more expensive than Walmart or Home Depot but we wouldn't go anywhere else! They are always super helpful (but don't hover) and make the process of purchasing a tree even more cheerful! The men who bag the trees also have great advice on how to keep your tree lasting longer.
