I've been wanting to come to this shop/lounge since I heard about it from Matt Booth. I smoked the Olmec and purchased some cigars to go. Met some cool local guys and enjoyed the time I spent. Will definitely go back.

Recommend by the pro, geared toward my taste, and an excellent choice.

This little place is a gem. Great layout, excellent service that is geared to your taste, not theirs. I could not be happier with my experience. I will be there every time I visit the Bend area. Thank you, you guys are awesome.

Dan and the team have completely guided through my cigar journey as i returned from a 20 year hiatus. They made suggestions to help me discern my preferences and introduced me to all of the new brands as i had been exclusively a Cuban smoker in the late 90s. They helped me purchase and season a new humidor and have always been professional, kind and never pushy. Easily the best humidor in Bend and their attention to clientele and detail has been exceptional. Highly recommend them is you are a seasoned smoker or new to the game. read more

One of the best shops I have been to. They helped understand what I prefer to smoke and offered some suggestion and price ranges. Took time with me to understand the boutique brands and closet name brand to compare to the boutique cigars that were available. A must stop shop if you want a no frill cigar place that will include all walks of knowledge and price point. Will be back to pick up some more next time I'm in town. read more

Great place to find and enjoy cigars in Bend. I was really impressed with their selection of cigars in the humidor. I found one of my favorites that I have only been able to order online. Even better surprise it came in a humidified container with five cigars included. After paying I stayed around to enjoy one of my cigars in their lounge area. Nice leather chairs along with two tv's to watch your favorite sports. Everybody was nice and I enjoyed my visit. read more

What a great little shop. They have a great selection of cigars and John the owner is spot on with his knowledge of cigars and his way with the customers. The clientele in the chapel are amazing as well very friendly and really make the place awesome. As a first time cigar smoker, this place had the best vibe. Danny, the guy selling, treated us well. He cut our cigar up just right and taught us a bit about the smoke culture. We then sat in the lounge for about an hour and just chilled. Great vibe. Danny the man. read more

Without the bartenders, it's just an empty building after all. A welcoming attitude or some conversation is the warm hearth that brings cold travelers back over and over again; people remember how they feel. Then again, even when the place is packed with people, I don't feel any warmth or connection from anyone here. Maybe it's a sign of the times, maybe it's Bend in general. I'll keep trying and coming back nonetheless.

Our server, Shayla, offered different rice options (even though we didn't ask), like coconut rice and jasmine rice, without mentioning they came with an additional charge. It sounded like a standard option that came with the entrée, as is common with many Asian dishes, so my kids chose the coconut rice. We didn't realize it was an upcharge until later, which was a bit disappointing. Also, the hot tea wasn't refillable, which was surprising. Overall, the food was very good, but clearer communication on pricing would have made the experience even better.

Verdict: Zydeco is an outstanding restaurant in virtually every way. No negatives to report. The place is popular - arriving just before opening on a weekday, there was a line to get in. Reservations are definitely a good idea here. Our early arrival in line allowed us to choose a good table in the back, where it wouldn't be too hectic. That too was a good idea as the place gets loud with conversation when it fills up. Music wasn't loud, just the people. The menu isn't huge but there are quite a few, varied choices. Given the meal was a bit of a splurge for us, I essentially ignored the prices, which are not trivial by any means. Fine dining entails spending money. Zydeco has a ton of reviews and as the menu apparently doesn't change, I'll just say everything we ordered was great. Cocktails too. The Bramble Down is exquisite. Service was top tier as well. Timely, attentive, professional without being stiff. The capstone to our experience involved the bill. We actually had a gift card from 2017 - nine years ago. While it certainly didn't cover the whole bill, or even half, it was a nice way to defray costs. Unfortunately, when the server ran the gift card, it showed no balance. Not sure why but perhaps over the years, the card had been erased by stray EMF. Despite that and given we provided the card receipt, the restaurant honored the card for the full amount anyway. Well done. Highly recommended.

My steak was OK, but as I said, I got the same one at RBC and it blew this out of the water. Picking your knife is a cute little exercise, but after all that I would've expected my knife to at least be sharp enough to cut the steak the way I wanted it. But that's a silly thing to even get stuck on. What really bugged me was the brussels sprouts first off were just swimming in grease and sauce, they were intense, and I only had a couple spoonfuls. The other thing that really pushed this over the edge was the brisket Bao. That seemed like a cool idea, but the brisket itself was extremely basic and just in a formed square. The sauce tasted like just peanut and nothing else, and the bao itself was extremely dry. The bread service was probably my favorite part, that thing was really tasty and so was the butter. I can't remember what they said the butter specifically was, but it tasted like just butter, it wasn't special. This place just doesn't have the value for the cost for me at all with the other nice steakhouses around.

Only been in here once to purchase cigars and the gentleman behind the counter was very helpful. As I was new to cigars he walked me through all of their different selections and explained some basic knowledge to me which was very professional and courteous. The reason we're looking at 3 stars instead of 5 is because of an unfortunate run-in with another employee here who went out of his way to come outside and harass me about taking the parking space behind another vehicle out in the street where it's public parking. Minding my own business I parked in an open space behind another vehicle before proceeding to another business on the street when he came out and started picking a bone with me because he didn't like where I legally chose to park my vehicle. No question. The staff at the Cigar Chapel is the most informed and up to date on all the major brands, and many you may not have heard of. I've been to many cigar lounges both in the States and across SE Asia and I can honestly say that many of them have staff that have no clue as to the quality and type of cigar they sell. Between the owner, Jon, and the regulars that occupy the lounge, there is little you can't learn about cigar's at the Cigar Chapel. A true delight to visit there. read more
