This is a hidden gem whisky bar and cigars with incredible history. Inside pub was part of the Old Saint Francis school which was revamped by McMennimans. The stained glass windows were sourced from other locations and the pot belly stove is so cute giving warmth and character. Outside has massive wood burning fire pits that are stoked frequently giving extra warmth in the crisp winter nights. This is a definitely a unique bar! Inside you'll find a dark, small space heated by a pot belly stove. The inside space features beautiful stained glass windows. Within this small space you'll find a full bar making solid cocktails. If you seek more space, the outside patio affords seating warmed by large fire pits to keep you warm in winter nights! Note this is a cigar bar: smoking allowed outdoors and inside. If this affects you, this place may not be your jam! As with the Broom Closet, but considerably less so, Okane's can get busy when Bend is chock-a-block with tourists so I tend to go there only between seasons. - Nice selection of whiskey/whisky. Not as extensive as you'll find nearby at Stihl but still quite a few. And you can get all the other drinks too. - Cigars. They have them and you can smoke them inside. If that's your thing. - The patio is great during the warm seasons; not so much in winter even with the large wood fire pits going (and wafting smoke into your eyes). read more

Wow, this place always delivers! My first sazerac cocktail, and I'll never look back. The bartender artfully, lovingly made this amazing drink from New Orleans. Smoky and with hints of licorice, this is my new, favorite cocktail. We enjoyed our drinks in the shady, garden patio. Perfect on a mid September afternoon. If you hate cigar smoke--and I can see why you would--this outdoor patio may not be for you. There was enough breeze to lighten the smell. Let's hope this part of the popular McMenamin's stays the "great hidden gem" it is! I was told to come here by my brother-in-law who frequented O'Kanes before Yelp was even a thing. At night it's dark and intimate, cigar smoke fills the air and you can warm up by the wood burning stove. The Old Fashioned I ordered to sip on was just right. It's small so there's limited seating inside where you're surrounded by beautiful stained glass, Grateful Dead posters and music and the story of O'Kane on the wall behind the bar. No absolutely love the retro feeling of sitting in a light haze of cigar smoke in a dimly lit old building. So cool

This bar is inside the old garage the nuns used. But don't stay inside go outside and enjoy the Happy Hour or come later of enjoy the clear Bend sky at night around the fire pits! The food is standard McMenamins, it comes from the main kitchen so lighter foods like pretzels tend to be cold by the time they get to you but the burgers are fine! I was here when a bachelor party passed through which was fun but it is mostly just people enjoying a nice Bend night around the fires, Oh, and they have a good drinks menu. It really becomes a special place. It's away from home. you set outside and just enjoy being away outside. At night they light a bunch of fire pits and you set there snacking and drinking your coke or whatever (they do serve alcohol) and watch the stars, the fires, and the other people, you chat with your friends, maybe even make new ones... read more

W and I attended a great Yelp event at Okane tonight hosted by Jaime H. The patio is beautifully landscaped and it feels almost like being in a tropical environment in the middle of the high desert. We had sliders, the Mediterranean platter and cajun tots. The appetizers were great. Service was extremely friendly. So glad we had the opportunity to visit Okane's. We look forward to our next visit. read more

My husband has been coming here for years. With the opening of the new hotel I decided to join him on a business trip ( hotel review later ) I enjoy O'Kane it is a hidden gem. The atmosphere for the most part has been very lol key and friendly. 99% of the staff is attentive and welcoming to both locals ( my husband ) and out of towers ( me) Let me just say they ONLY PLAY GRATEFUL DEAD! What more can I ask for a cold strong drink ( I have to order doubles to get any juice in my drink...LOL) and some good music. I would give it 5 stars.....BUT It seams to be the place the hotel staff like to hang out when not . Once they arrive the vibe changes for low key to loud. They stuck out like a broken toe. It would not be so bad if they didn't talk about work. This is a very quite place and you can hear everything they are talking about...Sad I get it I have worked in CS and hospitality and it is good to blow off steam...but not inform of guests and patrons...and that is what they are doing :( read more

They will not let you stand next to the fire even after buying a drink, you have to sit like a good puppy. You can, however, buy a drink and walk around the property but standing is forbidden! read more

There's cool, and then there's cool. Hugh O'Kane's oozes cool. Tons of outdoor seating, in a courtyard with trees, with paved patios....OHHH...did I mention the multiple fire pits. The scotch and whisky selection is abundant, and for those of you who like the disgusting habit of smoking cigars, they have those too. Bend, Oregon on a hot summer night is wonderful, and O'Kane's is the place to be. Whether it's boys night out, or a romantic evening, I have got to come back to this place again. So I've been here twice and I have to say I hate cigarette smoke LOVE cigar smoke (in moderation of course). So coming here now and then is a treat. I love the ambiance and character of the place. I will have to reserve my last 2 stars for the food as I haven't had the chance to partake but will hopefully have the opportunity soon. Seating outside is abundant and is heated by fire pits. Inside is small (seating is limited) and cozy and can get a somewhat overly warm in winter with the stove that they have which puts off quite a bit of heat, although Im sure I will probably appreciate it more as the weather gets colder. Been coming here for years and have enjoyed myself, with friends or with my wife on dates. In the past couple months though I visited on two separate occasions and both times the cigars were terribly dry. Both times an employee cut the cigar only to have the wrapper crack and unravel... not the employees fault, likely a humidor that does't seal properly. I assume they know little about cigars as after the wrapper cracks it essentially ruins the stick. I'm not one to make a scene or make someone feel bad then and there about it so I didn't, I have since started bringing my own cigars. The other issue is the huge hotel that they are building at the moment. Really ruins the cozy environment which was previously only a few small cottages. I probably won't be back too often from now on, though I understand why of course they want/need more rooms. read more

This HORRIBLE waiter slammed my husband from behind when he was walking to our table and yelled "get out of my way man". This place is awesome! Terrific outdoor seating with awesome fire pits. The inside is super ,super cozy and warm on a cold winter night. The pot belly Wood stove us perfect!!! It's so easy to meet people here or just find a private corner to enjoy whoever you came with. Best part, you can smoke a nice cigar with your scotch, whiskey or wine! I love that!!! We love O'kanes, go often (once every week or two week). Not a fan of McMenamin's food (which is why I gave 4 stars), but we love the O'kanes section of the complex in the back. They have great cocktails (we usually get the old fashioned, easy sugar or scotch neat), and wonderful atmosphere. Sitting outside next to the fire pits feels like a backyard. Very cozy, although it can get busy and loud. They also have shuffle board in the Fireside bar part of the complex, which we like to do from time-to-time. read more

Excellent hidden away bar. Great house whiskey (recommend the Hogs Head) and beers. Fireplaces for indoor drinking or out, and you can order from the entire McMenamin's menu. Only drawback is that they are freakishly loyal to the jigger, so expect stingy pours. read more
