If you would like to live in a dirty building very welcome. Since I moved into this building elevator hasn't worked for two weeks. The laundry room was closed for a month. It makes me feel unsafe because there some many weird people in this building I am sure most of them are not living here but somehow they are always in the building. There is no gym and only a bathtub-size swimming pool but you should be careful because it is always dirty and you might get a disease but they charge you like a premium building. STAY AWAY FROM IT!!!! read more

I was very satisfied. The very moment I stepped into the one of the units. It instantly felt like home I knew I needed to be a part of this building and community. Zach Bane broke down everything to me, from the tour to the leasing agreement the benefits of signing on with equity. He went a little bit out of his way to make sure I was good and comfortable . Never once made me feel pressured to doing something I wasn't comfortable with are going with something I couldn't afford. If you want to live in this building, I recommend you to rent an apartment whose windows are as far from the swimming pool as possible, otherwise you'll have to live in an endless swimming pool party with loud music and crazy people underneath, and no one is going to care about your comfort. read more

Pros: Our leasing person Tenicia and maintenance people are nice and typically responsive. Cons: the people ABOVE them at Equity Residential are unresponsive and completely unprofessional when it comes to an emergency. Just to sum it up: Fire alarms go off so often- when there actually is a real fire in the building nobody will be be alarmed. This place has a roach and gnats problem. Regardless of how clean of a person you are, expect to see them everywhere. The complex doesn't help either with its lack of cleanliness. The gym has free weights missing that were stolen a long time ago. The only machine in there is broken. Probably no intention of ever having it fixed. Yesterday morning everyone's mailbox were just left open. Easy to access to everyone's person mail. A few weeks back cars were broken into INSIDE the garage. A garage that you need a clicker or key to get into. Consider anything fixed to be a temporary solution here. Save your 2K and rent elsewhere. Trust me. Be extremely weary of the leasing management. My roommate and I were bait and switched. We were shown an upgraded apartment for one price and after we applied we were asked if we were interested in a 4th floor apartment. We were told it was exactly the same as the one we saw. However on move in day we moved into a much older apartment that did not have any of the up to date appliances as the one we were shown. The management also allotted us two side by side parking spaces and two hours later told us they made a mistake and already gave those spaces to someone else. We immediately had to move our cars to a tandem space Furthermore, we had multiple problems during our first week. The sink under my bathroom was leaking and damaged my personal items. The closet doors hardly open. I attempted to contact the leasing office to discuss these issues and was ignored for over a week. Finally after multiple calls to higher management I was given a call back. I was spoken to in an extremely rude tone and offered almost no remedy. We were told we could move into a more expensive unit if we wanted the upgraded appliances. This was hardly a solution to the problem that we were shown an upgraded apartment for the price of a non upgraded apartment. To make matters worse, I had a very expensive textbook delivered to the leasing office. They receive the large packages because ups cannot go up to the units. The package said delivered and signed by management. Management then went on to tell me they never signed for it. I now have to have my packages delivered to another location because I cannot trust the leasing office to accept my mail. read more

I wish there was an option for no stars. We moved out because they wanted to raise the rent $500 for no reason, and gave us barely a one months notice. They took most of our security deposit for "Cleaning" even though we spent days cleaning the place spotless. Then they charge us separately for carpet replacement?? Myself and my girlfriend paid our share (even though it was obviously a scam), our roommate did not. A year later I found out, they called me and harassed me constantly. I told them over and over again I paid my share, and their documents and receipts show that, but they didn't care. I have no idea why they did not reach out to my roommate, they had all their information. Come to find out two years later, they sent our info to a collection agency without contacting us. I told the collection people that we paid our fare share, and even The Cleo's record showed that. FINALLY, our old roommate paid their share. Why did they take so long? They had no idea!! The Cleo never contacted them!! No emails, no phone calls, no effort. But now myself, my girlfriend, and my old roommate, have a collections on our credit for the next seven years because these fucking money hungry ass-holes. I told so, many, times, over email and phone calls that it was not my responsibility, as again, THEY PROVED that myself and my girlfriend paid our share. I'm so disgusted with these people. Never go to the Cleo or Equity Residential. They are purely criminals and will ruin your credit regardless. I cannot think of other words to describe this situation without utilizing extremely vulgar words. More than they deserve. Side notes, we had extremely loud upstairs neighbors that would play loud bass until 6am, multiple nights. Management refused to do anything. The police and courtesy patrol where at the Cleo 4 days out of the week dealing with this, and other incredibly rude neighbors. Huge parties always happened at the pool and they would blare their music. Management did nothing. Everyone's mail was always being stolen because it was so easy to get into the building, the mail boxes were just open for days, random people walked the halls, the door to the work out room was busted for some reason, and they did not fix it for the last 6 months we were there. I've been living at the Cleo since Sept (9 months) so I am ready for my review now. Pros : Centrally located Mostly renovated Gym (even though if your 5'9 or taller you can't use it ) Gated Garage Central Air Balcony's And they allow pets which is really hard in LA you can pay rent online (convenience- no money orders) Young professionals CONS ROACHES Ok, I repeat there ARE ROACHES . It's getting out of hand. I've complained so much to the leasing office i don't even think they care any more. My roommate and I are very clean so we don't have them in our house however, they are outside. And I'm talking bout the KING ROACHES. Don't leave your house after dark unless you want them chasing you. THE TRASH. The trash is unacceptable, it is every where including cigarette buds. They tenants are all young and don't care, it becomes annoying and rude to others who live there. IVE SEEN THROW UP AND DOG POOP. THEY ARE BABY HOUSE ROACHES IN THE TRASH AREAS THE TRASH ,again - the trash will make the whole floor smell. And it's over packed. I promise you they need to hire a new custodial crew bc it's not working. ANIMALS- people do have pets I don't mind them , but if you do I'm not sure this is the place for you NEIGHBORHOOD PEOPLE- gangs use this building as a hang out. They break in. I've seen them even climb up and unlock the doors. They have security but they don't do anything. This place needs 24 hour watching bc I've seen people walking in here who don't live here. In fact the stairwell on 4th- I think a homeless person is living there bc it smells like piss and there is a shopping cart there. At night I'm very careful PARKING- people park in your spots however you can't do nothing bc only management can tow cars . However at 3 am and your tired what are you going to do ??? THE WALLS AND DOOR SLAMMING-you can hear everything !!! Including fire-alarm which they are trying to fix btw. But every time some slams there door your whole apt shakes even your glass windows. Let me start by saying I'm about 7 months into my lease counting down the days until it's up. This review has nothing to do with the management, they are pretty nice and for the most part accommodating. They do try to get to your service request as soon as possibly. However, it would take a more than just one or two people to fix all of the things wrong with this place and I don't believe there should need to be so many things f. You can only complain so much. I'm at the point where I just let a lot of things go now. Since I have moved in there have been so many things wrong. Starting with my AC unit, which we didn't know was broken until we finally turned it on when it reached over 100 degrees outside. We've had to get this fixed twice now. The parking is a MESS. Simply stated. Our fridge has also broken a couple of times. There have been times we open our fridge just to notice all of our food has gone bad because of the high temperature. The first time it rained since our move, we noticed our ceiling was leaking by our window. Someone came to "cover it", but I'm pretty sure it's just painted over. Our light switch in our bathroom broken one random day. It's pretty much the only light you have in the bedroom area unless you buy your own lamps. Our shower rod also broke off the other day out of no where. We deep clean our spot every couple of days because we've noticed roaches inside of our apartment. No real explanation for this considering we are on the fourth floor and never leave any food out. We've gotten our spot sprayed but it hasn't helped at all. They are even in our bathroom! I'm literally afraid to come home and night because i know I'll always see something crawling. Not a good way to live. We've had to replace a couple of our keys because they just don't work! Including our mail key and our building key. All of the doors are difficult to get into. Mine actually broke in half the other day. They wanted to me to pay for the replacement. There are three different elevators here at this complex and one or two are ALWAYS down. You can imagine the inconvenience of this when you live on the fourth floor. Even if one gets fixed, the other one is sure to break down shortly after. Last but not least the unfortunate truth is that there are a lot of dirty people living here. Don't be surprised to find dog shit or pee in the elevators or hallways. The maintenance guy does what he can, but he is only one guy. I've written a novel but i can keep going. I'm definitely not getting what I'm paying for- simply stated. I was fooled by the nice looking lobby area when i first walked in. It seems like they're just willing to rent you any apartment, even if there's a million things wrong with it- just to make some money. It's been such a disappointment from the beginning. I wish i would have read all of the reviews before moving here. ****UPDATE**** Although this place still has things it could improve on, my last few months have been SO MUCH BETTER. They've since focused on the pest control and I have seen such a difference inside of my apartment. Ghat really was the main thing making my living miserable here. I haven't found a single roach in my apartment in three months. The staff as mentioned in my previous review really does their best and we appreciate the changes that have been made. CAUSE the walls are thin you can hear your neighbors conversation word for word and LOUD MUSIC till 4in the morning which is ridiculous!!. Tenants have told management all they do is send an email to all residents on the noise level. THIS IS THIER WAY OF HANDLING "IT". Also every other week or so the fire alarms will be going off at 2 in the morning. I BET even if there is a real fire nobody would leave their homes. THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD! So to sum it up if you want to burn in your own house with loud noises every night this is just the place. DONT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY!!!!!! PLUS ITS NOT EVEN CHEAP!! By the way the pictures below are from the apartment discussion board EVIDENCE!!! I mean they are only interested into scamming new tenants, PLEASE DONT BE STUPID AND BE SCAMMED......... I can't speak for the years old reviewers but from 2020 to the present, The Cleo has been a great place to live. I've lived in a lot of different cities and buildings - this is certainly one of my favorite. We moved in during COVID last year- the whole process was safe and easy thanks to Maricar. All questions were thoroughly answered and the instructions were very complete. To our delight, the clear communication continued throughout the year. Her approachability and attentiveness drastically increased the sense of community which played a huge role in deciding to stay here. No place is perfect but the shortcomings are addressable and the staff has been highly receptive to dealing with them. They are proactive whenever possible and their reaction to unforeseen issues is surprisingly appropriate and expedient. Frank and the service guys are very professional, respectful, and kind. I have previously recommended this place to my friends and would happily continue to do so. read more

Lived here for about 3 weeks. The termites were so bad, we found them in our bed sheets (not a wood bed). Security doors routinely propped open. K-town is central, yes, but it's filthy. Not the building's fault, but they didn't exactly do anything to combat it on the lawns adjacent to the building. There were *always* cars parked in front of the doors from the parking lot. Not in a spot, just blocking the fire lane. Parking spot assignments were sloppy at best. We traded notes with a neighbor the whole time we were there until we discovered that *both* of our leases had the same 2 parking spots assigned. read more

She went above and beyond in her customer service . I wanted a place for 1600 and the place I found is 1,593 , it's perfect for me . These apartment have all the amenities and appliances that I've dreamed of. They have the best price for everything I'm looking for . No other apartment building fit all my wants and needs except this one . Living here has been awesome! It's my first time living in LA and this apartment is so central to everything. Mari and Meaghan have been very helpful to me and my roommate when moving in. The apartment was clean with fresh carpets and paint upon move-in. The only complaints I have are that the hallways, stairways and parking garage and pretty filthy. It would be nice if the hallways were hosed down more often, as there's lots of dirt and spill marks on the floor. I wish there was a little more light in the hallways as well, as it's pretty dark walking through them at night. Mari is a star, when I first came to look at the apartment I had 3 choices to pick from, she walked me and my boyfriend through all the amenities and beautiful add ons (pool, gym,steam room). When we rented apartment she accommodated to any issue we had in a matter of a hours. Apartment is very clean and if you get any seasonal bugs they do free fumigation every week. After 2 years, I can honestly say I am happy to go. Finally moved out on August 31/2016 and my bathroom ceiling is still leaking. -My closet door is still not on the tracks completely. -I still have over $20 + on my laundry card because the machine breaks down every week. -Fitness room equipment are always missing. -Alarm gets set off every other day for at least 2 hours. -We have security but people still break into the parking deck and steal your items. When asked management about missing mail & packages, they say the cameras are broken. I am just confused why the cameras are broken for 2 years. -Everything looks nice but is cheaply made so everything breaks down slowly. -AC breaks down closer to end of lease. Set at 72 and wake up and it will be on 85. I guess they knew we were leaving within a month they didn't care to come fix it. I was told when moving they were taking $250 out our deposit for deep cleaning. I have no problem with that but when I got an email that we owe $250 for cleaning and will not be getting our deposit back. I am so confused. My boyfriend and I never broke anything and are not nasty people. I always pay my rent on time and any additional fees but they will not be getting the $250 from me after keeping my security deposit. read more

Pros: 1. Friendly management. 2. The convenience of paying your rent online. -------- Cons: Where do I start? 1. If you get a unit where the windows face the hallway, you will never know what time of day it is, or what the weather is like. You also hear EVERYTHING going on in the hallways, whether it's happening near your window or from the floor above or below. Lots of echoes and footsteps. 2. The fire alarm goes off every other week (sometimes more). Once it goes off, it rings for a good 20+ minutes. 3. The pool is on the east side of the building, therefore, half of it doesn't get any sun, and the rest slowly starts to shade until 4:30 p.m. when it's completely in the shade. The sun fades sooner when it's late spring/early fall. 4. The washers and dryers are constantly going out of order. Some of the dryers seem like they're functioning, but when you throw in your load, pay, and return when it's done, your clothes will still be damp. It's pretty much a guessing game that you pay for. 5. My car got stolen, but their surveillance camera for the lower level parking garage isn't working. How convenient. 6. The gym is TINY. I'm pretty sure it's the size of my bedroom. 7. When my roommate and I first moved in, we were under the assumption that the apartment would be clean. Luckily, we decided to vacuum before moving in anyway. That vacuum picked up SOOOOOO much hair (long black hair, which neither of us have) in both bedrooms, living room, and dining area. Our vacuum filter was literally full after vacuuming the apartment once. All in all, my roommate and I cannot wait to move out of here. I've had 3 other friends who've lived at The Cleo, all of who couldn't wait for their leases to end as well. If it weren't for the friendly staff, this place would've gotten 1 star. read more

Don't get fooled by the look. The apartment looks cleaner than near by apartments but when you take a close look inside, it will surprise you. I had a lot of cockroach problem when I first moved in. Now it seems better but I am worried about the health hazzards from pesticides they have been spraying once a week. Lots of dogs and cats in the complex. Lots of hair all over your car, home and the clothes you wash in the apartment laundry. There are no trash cans around the apartment (so people throw them on the floor). We had a tiny trash can in the parking lot that was about the size of my bathroom trash can but it was full most of times and apartment got rid of it. Parking is horrible. I can't have any visitor. There are no visitors parking. And because of people parking in "no parking" area, it's very hard to come in & out of parking stall. I have been here for several months and never seen anyone enforcing. I saw security couple times writing the license plate number of unauthorized parked cars but never do anything to stop them from parking. I see 3 cars taking turns to park in the same "no parking" area for months. I am moving out of the apartment for good. read more

By any means, DO NOT LIVE HERE. I wish my lease could be up sooner and I've only been here for 6 months. The management is terrible. I've requested maintenance on an elevator that has disrupted my sleep from malfunctioning for over a week and nothing has been done. The leasing agents dgaf about your happiness and act like this is a great place to live when in reality it's loud, there are dogs barking 24/7 and dog poop everywhere. They are uncommunicative, unprofessional, and have zero attention to detail. Live anywhere else but here. read more
