Lannie's is a swanky, sophisticated cabaret bar, which looks the part magnificently. The stage shows are most excellent and the sound is mixed perfectly. It's a great room to see a small show. and because of that sells out easily. Get your tickets ahead of time! Unfortunately, I can only give them 3 stars, because the customer service is lackluster. At a recent show we attended to see a friend perform, they sat people from another reservation with our reservation, and in the middle of the performance, made more of our party move to a different area of the room to accommodate strangers with their seats. And though I was only able to obtain one drink order, my bill was combined with people I did not come with, but was sat at the same table with, and neither group was given opportunity to split the check. I also heard the people up one level behind me complain about the rudeness of the waitstaff. So, it wasn't just us. However, Lannie herself seemed like a lovely hostess, and the entertainment was nothing short of superb. With some customer service training for the staff, this would be one of Denver's best venues. read more

I have been to a couple of shows here. The staff is always very friendly and the shows are well put together. They have drinks and food which is nice when you go to a show. The seating arrangements could be a bit better but that's only con I've really seen there. You will have a good time. read more

It's a unique venue, great for out-of-town guests. I saw a comedy show (FREE!) featuring some good, some...not-my-style. Despite coming from a heavy meal at a nearby restaurant (with drinks), we ordered drinks and staff were nice. The menu looks just fine, but nothing I'd rush back to try. If you live in Denver or are visiting Denver, this nightlife entertainment venue should not be missed! My husband and I have so enjoyed the Clocktower Caberet during our last two trips to Denver, that we know we will return on our next business trip there. The website, clocktowercabaret.com, lets us know who is playing when we will be in town. They have such varied live acts on their booking schedule such as bands with music of all eras, individual vocal artists, comedians and professional burlesque shows that reminded us of Burlesque, the 2010 movie. Both of the nights we were there, brides to be were there with their friends for their bachelorette parties. Everyone in the party had a tierra on her head and was having a grand time. When you enter the Caberet and take in the interior design and ambiance of the club, you know you are someplace special, classy and fun. It is a family business where they really take care of you and treat you like a special guest. The cocktails and appetizers were wonderful. read more

We went to the Broadway Burlesque show for date night. It was good fun. Probably a little risque if your the conservative type. There were people of all ages celebrating birthdays and bachelorette parties. If you don't want to be "fondled" don't sit in VIP seats that are directly in front of the stage. Lots of sequins g-strings and pasties done tastefully. It is a small venue with eclectic decor. They offer light snacks and full bar. I don't think I'll go again but it is definitely worth going once. read more

My wife and I visited the Clocktower on our anniversary, buying tickets online for the 11PM Saturday night show. What a blast! Nice atmosphere, an older crowd, interesting cocktails and a nice booze selection. The host "Fannie" is entertaining and had us laughing all night. The entertainers had good routines, and save for a couple, were fit & attractive, but more importantly they all provided a good show and had the crowd roaring with laughter. Some notes: It's a pasty club, so no nudity! The 11PM show goes to around 1:25AM, there is also an earlier one @ 8PM. What a fucking cool place, try it out to get away from the same old boring bar/club scene in Denver. read more

Oh how I love Lannie's, let me count the ways. 1. Awesome shows, always a good time. Especially the Thursday and Saturday burlesque performances. Pierre is a riot, Fannie Spankings is adorable, and the rest of The Clockettes are aMAzing. 2. Incredible service. The service staff is constantly on their toes, smiling, and handing out excellent drinks. Order your martini "Paris Hilton Dirty". 3. Amazing ambiance. Whatever you do don't order food! We were a little hungry ordered 3 items for about $35. Seriously 7 eleven serves higher quality food. Don't sell food if you only have a microwave. Now for the fun part during the show (music) we were enjoying ourselves and catching up with old friends, some laughter and good times as we listened to the band All of sudden this snotty rude I guess Manager informed us that we were loud and would be asked to leave if we didn't be quiet! Errr excuse me? We were disturbing the other guests she said. Wait we are being served alcohol and listening to music but our conversation was too loud i was highly offended by her approach and I asked her if were at a funeral or a show. Her snippy response as she snarled her lips "you are being disrespectful ". How I asked by talking? We asked for our check and left. Here's a suggestion. Next time introduce yourself as the manager thank us for coming and and hey I know you are having fun but some of the guests are being disturbed could you lower the volume a little. We would have apologized and obliged, had we known this. Instead we were scolded. Service was awful and snotty. read more

Our first cabaret! The show we went to had all sorts of stuff--dancing ladies, a gymnastics gig in a hoola hoop, juggling/magic, and a crazy host. The girls varied in looks, weight, and skill... LOVED IT!!!! Totally unique--went last weekend for the show tunes show on Saturday night. Had never been before and have never seen anything like this place in Denver before. It's chic and hip-ish without being trendy, intimate, with a great vibe. We had drinks and snacks, the service was fantastic before the show started, but not so much once it got going--I think they try not to be running back and forth. The show it self was priceless, Lannie is a hoot--funny and talented. The band was also entertaining. Yoyu can tell Lannie is passionate about what she does--after so many times of doing this show after show you might expect her to be a little flat, but clearly she feels blessed to do what she is doing and it shows. It was perfect for a date, I think for girls night I would go to the later show!!! read more

Went to the Broadway Burlesque show with a group of friends and it was amazing and hilarious!!

I had high expectations for the show but they were not met. The show had several acts but they were all simple 1 person acts. There wasn't anything special about any of the acts. I didn't not feel anything in this show was unique and I had friends who attended with me who said they've seen better shows in Denver for $5. There is a group of people who loved this show but we were not in they group. read more

We were looking for somewhere to go in Denver with our 23-year-old son and his girlfriend who we've never met. Didn't know if it would be more burlesque and were relieved that this wonderful Elton John show was just the perfect event. Really cool alternative to going out in the typical bar scene. The Clocktower cabaret is a really fun and a chill environment for something different than the usual nightclub or bar. The highlight of my visit was seeing the dancer with the bright red hair performing a bossanova vibe, she definitely had the most charisma out of all the entertainers. Here's what I remember, not necessarily in order: music, Tiffany C. dancing on stage, strip teasing, puppets, noise makers, yummy cocktails and snacks, and having an awesome time being rowdy. Stop #2 on our Cabaret Crawl was a great stop. We had a fun relaxing table even though we showed up right after 11... the atmosphere was inviting and perfect for this type of show. Cocktails weren't too expensive as I remember and the appetizers were awesome ( hummus and potato salad dip of some sort?). A gem in that neighborhood and you will laugh your ass off to some amazing entertainers. Plan on hanging out on stage after the show and meeting everyone.... Lannie's on a Thursday night is just the right place to go if you want to be completely entertained. Our hostess was a beautiful young woman with glittery fake eyelashes, who led us to a great spot up at the top bar, centered with the stage. As I was walking through, I felt like I might know what it's like to visit the Moulin Rouge. There isn't a bad seat here, because it's such a small place, I can't believe that they can only charge $15 a head and make any money. Perhaps their profits come from the $9 a glass wine that I can buy at the liquor store for $9 a bottle, but hey, that is the price I am willing to pay for raunchy entertainment. The host, Naughty Pierre, is hilarious. His jokes range from slapstick to political commentary (he did a spot-on impression of George W Bush using a puppet). His assistant, "No-No Nanette," is adorable, and she likes to frequently bend over in her short skirt and flash the audience her cute backside (she wears panties people!). My favorite acts were the three burlesque dancers, who each have their own look and attitude as they are teasingly removing items of clothing. They all strip down to pasties, and one girl knows how to twirl them!! I love the fact that all of the women in the show are confident about their bodies even though they are not all model-thin. The most popular burlesque dancer (I forgot her name) is beautiful and voluptuously built. You can order a tiara with your drink, which is an extra $3 or $4, but you get a shot with it! I was the only gal in my group who didn't order a tiara, but the waiter brought me a free shot too so as not to leave me out. The service was kind of slow but it doesn't really matter when you are enjoying yourself. One warning - don't order the martini glass of olives because you will never finish it. I think they used a whole jar. But the salumi plate was great and was only $10 for enough food for four girls to share as a late-night snack. read more

Hands down our favorite venue in town. They have quirky shows, a great variety, nationally renowned local acts, and great ownership. The staff is friendly, helpful, and competent. I saw Lannie's Under Paris Skies on a Saturday night. The space there is really great, a small, intimate room that's well decorated and lit. My cocktail (a manhattan) was pretty well made, and they have an pretty ok selection of bottled beer considering how small the place is. The food menu looked pretty average (though, frankly, the fact that two out of ten "appetizers" contain truffle oil seems like they're not only trying a bit hard but also not being particularly creative), though I can't speak to the quality of it as I didn't eat. The service was good, pretty fast and efficient, but I would point out that it was a pretty slow night. (A note, the servers are apparently NOT allowed to be on the floor when Lannie is performing, so if she's in the middle of a long song don't expect your drink any time soon!) The staff was also very friendly and talented--the petite hostess at one point deftly ushered out two apparently drunk and unticketed men who seemed to have wandered downstairs and into the show, and then later during intermission skillfully hoisted around a giant box of Lannie's CDs that were for sale. Anyway, on to the performace: considering that the performer is the Cabaret's namesake and owner, I expected an over-the-top great show. Even though it started a bit late (they may have been waiting for more people to come in, as it was probably only at about 60% capacity?), the opening act was good--a woman spinning in a ring suspended above the stage and contorting herself through, over, and around it (not sure what they're called), of the kind one might see at a Cirque du Soleil show or a Devotchka concert. She was definitely very talented, even though it seemed like she kindof lost steam occasionally when the spinning would slow to a near crawl (a side note: she is apparently the person running and starring in "Midnite Martini's Sexy Circus Sideshow" which plays at Lannie's for the Friday late show at 11pm). Lannie came out a few minutes after, and the first thing I noticed was that I she was not loud enough. Whoever was controlling the volume on the sound system had her voice turned down way too much, and the music could have been a bit louder as well. Granted, I was sitting in the way back, but considering how small the place is I don't think it was much better up front (i.e. 10 feet away from me). Despite this, the show was good. Lannie has an ok (not incredible, not terrible) voice, and she sang some great tunes, among them Nature Boy and La Vie en Rose. The musicians, on the other hand, were INCREDIBLE!! Ian Hutchison, who I have seen play at cocktail hour jazz in the Brown Palace lobby, is a very talented bass player, Elliot Reed is an amazing lead guitarist, and the fiddler (whose name I didn't catch) was quite good as well. I can't say enough good things about the musicians--the music really made the show, though again it was not loud enough, and I'm not just saying this because I've listened to loud music on my headphones for too long--I could clearly hear people's footsteps as they were walking around on the tile floor in the back of the room (not even in loud shoes). Finally, I am still a bit confused about the Paris theme. According to Lannie, the show is inspired by Django Reinhardt's famous Paris jazz club, and she did cover a French song and "I Love Paris", and the servers were all wearing black and white striped shirts and berets (and there was Lannie's silly Eiffel-tower adorned hat). Maybe it's because, as a member of a "younger" generation, I'm not as familiar with the music (which Lannie condescendingly pointed out several times during the show) as supposedly some of the other attendees were, but I know a fair amount about jazz, and many of the songs were regular old American jazz classics, so the whole Parisian skies thing seemed like a bit of a stretch. Overall, I think the space is great, the service is good, and I would definitely go back and see another show there. Still, I have to give it only three stars, as I thought that Lannie's performance was mediocre. However, they have a lot of different shows here, many of which look very good, so I would still recommend going to anyone who's interested in seeing some original live shows in Denver. read more

So... We went to see a friend perform and had no idea what to expect. When we arrived I was automatically intrigued! The clock tower is beautiful and charming. The cabaret show was in the basement and might I say was decorated beautifully. I felt as if I was swept back into the early 1900's. We had VIP tickets so we were seated at the front which I thought would be awesome. It wasn't until the dancers came out that I wished we were further back. They were amateur and not very pretty. Our friend was one of the only attractive ladies in the entire show. I was also not impressed with the guy who did the announcing. He was very crude and kind of creepy. I went to Lannies a few months back with a girlfriend after a horrendous dining experience at another establishment (see The Cheesecake Factory). The hostess was very nice and it was 10 bucks to get in and it was Pierres Naughty Burlesque night. Its very dim inside, cluttered but somehow cozy as well. The drinks are a little pricey, in the $9-$11 range. However, once the show started I realized it was a quality gig. Pierre performance who upon first impression I predicted to be corny and sadly Bob Saget style comedy turned out to be vulgar, hilarious, and rather unique. The burlesque dancers ranged from classic hot stripper looking females, to some busty curvy gals, to some big beautiful dames. I really enjoyed myself, laughed and gawked at the varied scantily-clad dancers, and relished the great swing music. Perfect for a unique night on the town. read more

We went for our anniversary and saw "Clue: A Strip Search". It was great! The actors were hilarious and so friendly. They stayed in character even before the show actually started. The ambience of the clocktower made it so much more exciting. The show was fun. And the drinks were actually decently priced, especially considering it is downtown. read more

Oh, Lannie's. You know that I love you and always will. There is no other place that I look forward to taking guests or a night out with my hubby. The show is always good... that's not the problem. Our service the last couple times, but specifically during my last visit left me, well, sad. I wanted to enjoy the show, but our server ruined it. Here's my beef. My husband and I always trade off on who is going to be the DD. On this particular night, my hubby was nice enough to be the DD and let me get my drink on. I'm not a big drinker, but when it's on... it's on. I was excited to have a few drinks and enjoy the show. By the end of the night, I wasn't enjoying my drinks and whatever buzz I tried to muster, was killed with pure irritation towards our waitress. Our server was slow, scarce, and not attentive. And my poor husband - not 1, 2, or 3 times... but 4 times his order for a non alcoholic beverage was forgotten. By the end of the show, he gave up pulling her over to re-re-re-reorder his drink. In my opinion, the DD's should be well taken care of. They are the responsible hero of the night! But perhaps since they aren't ordering $$$$ drinks, they are less important. Not in my book. When we come to Lannie's, we usually drop some good cash and we are the type of couple that tips 25% and up to hardworking people. Not that night, sorry. The show alone is enough to bring us back, but due to our last experience, maybe not as often. read more

I love this place. I always come here with my BF when we are in Denver. It is very Speakeasy as it is located downstairs and very "period correct. The staff is friendly and attentive, the shows are always top-notch, and the drinks/appetizers are amazing.... Love love love this place! Highly recommended! read more
