We had a wonderful dinner at the Clocktower Kitchen and Bar. It's a beautiful, relaxed space with a variety of seating. Despite being very busy, service was excellent and food was paced well. We tried the skillet cornbread, pork belly, chicken hot honey sandwich and chicken salad croissant. All were excellent! read more

We had 6pm reservations for the Clocktower Kitchen and Bar in Plain City. We arrived on time, but were told that our table was occupied. We stood in the dining room for 30 minutes waiting on our table. Finally, when the table was available, we were offered two appetizers as an apology for waiting. We ordered the cajun shrimp and crispy cauliflower as the appetizers as well as a bottle of red house wine for the table. Both appetizers were really good and delivered as described. They were the highlight of the meal. For mains, we ordered the filet medallions with a horseradish cream sauce and the pork chop with sweet potatoes and roasted Brussels sprouts. We also ordered a side of roasted garlic broccolini. The medallions was medium rare as ordered and tasted great although it was a little dry. The horseradish sauce had little flavor. The broccolini was cold on delivery and had little flavor as well (no garlic). The pork chop, sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts were very good. The wait staff did not ask about dessert and hustled us out by offering us togo boxes. This was disappointing as we were interested in dessert and ended up going out locally for dessert. Overall, the experience at the Clocktower was disappointing. Waiting in the dining room for 30 minutes, getting a cold side and being hurried detracted from the meal. We are conflicted on coming back as some dishes were very good and the restaurant's vibe is very cool as it is located in a previous antique store. Perhaps with time, the restaurant can make adjustments and improve. As a bonus, the restaurant uses Resy and anyone with an AMEX card can use bonus awards to offset a nominal dining experience. read more

The clocktower was very nice inside, it's a great place to sit, visit and eat. I loved the politeness of the staff and they were very helpful. The food was good I had the burger and everything was cooked perfectly. My wife had the fish and chips and while it was good, the outside of the batter on the fish was not crispy she described it as soggy. The entrance was a little confusing as the parking lot seems to be in the back, we went in through the patio entrance and then walked through the restaurant. No signage to direct us so kind of confusing and I'm not sure if I was or was not supposed to go that way. It was a good restaurant and it looks like Jenna is responsive to reviews so imagine this place will only get better with time. read more

Ohhhh my. Everything at The Clocktower was amazing. McKenah was our server and also the bartender; she was SO busy making drinks that looked like works of art, yet she made sure we never wanted for anything. She made great recommendations and knew how to thoroughly detail any item we asked about. She was so personable and kind. The owner, Ben, came by several times, as my dad has a food allergy. He caught that a dressing my dad wanted had the allergen in it, so he went to the kitchen and whipped up a serving without it included! We've eaten at a lot of restaurants. Nobody has ever done that. The setting is classy without being ostentatious. Prices were very fair, especially considering the quality of the ingredients. So much was locally sourced. We can't wait to go back! The mashed sweet potatoes were outstanding. They're the perfect blend of sweet and savory. The fish used for my fish and chips was so fresh and just "clean" tasting. Get the poblano cornbread; you won't be disappointed. I have no idea who came up with pickled-onion rings, but somebody out there is a genius. The smash burger and the B.E.L.T. were fantastic. We went to the soft opening of the Clocktower Kitchen + Bar tonight for dinner. The staff (esp our server!) was amazing, the food was honestly delicious. We chatted with the table next to us and we all were raving about the food. We had the steak fritters and fish and chips, but the poblano cornbread was my favorite! Can't wait to go back. First time visiting and dined for brunch. The service was friendly and our server was personable and had spot on recommendations for the menu. We had the cornbread appetizer, eggs benedict, brunch burger and the skillet chocolate chip cookie for dessert. It was a perfect experience for a birthday celebration. Nice atmosphere and cool aesthetics . We had awesome service from Debbie. It was Sunday after brunch-130ish- food was delicious! The Caramelized Onion Dip for an appetizer was a great start. I recommend the Short Rib Ragu and the Sweet Potato Gnudi for your enjoyment! Portions are healthy and took home leftovers. Only 1 small issue that didn't impact my meal, per se, they ran out of eggs. Not sure how that happens and why they didn't pursue the local grocery for a quick fix. Despite living just down the block from the Clocktower, it took many months for us to finally visit. We had tried to go a week earlier, but it turns out that a reservation is needed on Friday evenings. The food was excellent. My wife had the fish and chips, three HUGE pieces of fish. I had the smashburger. Brittnie, the server, was attentive and pleasant. We were disappointed that they no longer serve the chorizo dip. We were looking forward to trying it. Instead, we had the onion ring appetizer. Pickling turns out to be a tasty way to prep the onions. I highly recommend them. Tell your greeter that this review is from "Jerome". Last night we made our first visit to The Clocktower Kitchen & Bar. Overall, it was a positive experience, though there were a few service hiccups that I hope are just part of being a newer restaurant and will smooth out over time. We had a reservation and were seated right away, but it took quite a while before our server came by with water and to take drink orders. My cocktail took longer than expected to arrive from the bar, though it was excellent once it came. Unfortunately, our drinks were nearly gone before our server returned to check on us, at which point we ordered appetizers. We chose three: the chorizo dip, pickled onion rings, and poblano cornbread. There was a long wait before they reached our table, and our server had to double-check the order. The dip and onion rings arrived together, while the cornbread didn't come until we were almost finished with the first two. That said, the food itself was worth trying: The chorizo dip was outstanding -- we easily could have eaten another round. The pickled onion rings were unique and delicious. The pickling gave them a tender texture and mellow flavor, and the light breading paired perfectly with the ranch dipping sauce. The poblano cornbread had good flavor but wasn't our favorite. It was dry and crumbly (perhaps due to being gluten-free) rather than moist, which is more my preference. For entrées, two of us had the pan-seared salmon with chili crispy cucumbers and enjoyed it. Another had the smashburger and fries, which was also a hit. I ordered the steak frites -- the steak was cooked to the right temperature and tender, but it lacked seasoning. A touch of salt and pepper would have made it perfect. The fries, however, were excellent. One thing I have to mention is the building itself. They did a fantastic job rehabbing the old Clocktower, and the interior looks great -- modern, welcoming, and full of character. Overall, the food quality met our expectations and we'd definitely return. The service still needs some polish -- from wait times, to pacing, to accuracy (our bill even had one entrée listed on the wrong check). Still, we see a lot of potential here. With a few tweaks, The Clocktower Kitchen & Bar could easily become a favorite spot. read more

This place has great potential. The staff and setting are exceptional. Two of our party had the wedge salad. It is made with Romaine rather than Iceberg lettuce. Tasty, but the kitchen needs a salad spinner. Our salads were both watery and neither of us finished eating it. read more

We came for our reservation on 12/23 at 6pm. We were seated at about 6:30 which was fine, but our food did not come until after 8:30. unfortunately 4/8 of our meals were cold. We decided to order dessert to go and after paying for the bill and tipping we were told they were actually out of pie and were given a 20 dollar gift card, which is fine but we don't live here. The atmosphere was fun and I'm sure there is a learning curve but with a baby it made the night hard because he was not happy with the 2.5 hour sitting time. We made a reservation for 5pm on Valentine's Day. While on the way (a 45 minute drive, mind you) we had an issue that set us back a few minutes. I called them 5 separate times with a few mins in between and the line was busy every single time. So no way to call and update them on our ETA. We arrive at 5:11 and are told that they had our reservation down for 4:30 (unsure how when my text said 5) and that they weren't gonna hold the table over 45 mins. The math doesn't math here because we were inside of a 45 minute window even IF the reservation was at 4:30. Half the restaurant was empty and the hostess and a bartender or server were kicked back chatting when I walked in. Still unsure of how the line was busy when they were not on the phone, but alright. The hostess was pretty matter of fact and didn't offer to make it right for us at all despite me trying to pull out my phone to show her the reservation time sent to me via text. We had a decent sized party for this reservation and sadly won't return because the customer service was abysmal. Do better! read more
