Felt body shamed by sales person Said I had thick thighs and kept bringing me sizes two sizes too big for my frame

I love this store and the merchandise, but I'm done with the snooty sales ladies. Actually, there are only 2 and the one I had today scared me. I told her I didn't need help, yet she felt the need to tell me a certain brand pant I was looking at should be worn tight. I told her I didn't like my clothes tight. She came up to me 3x to tell me I was making a mistake and seem agitated that I wasn't following her recommendation. When I explained to her that I have purchased the same brand pant at the cove in the size I wanted, she asked my name to look up my previous purchases because she didn't believe me. Even with a 20% discount I will never show my face in that store again. read more

Lots is Brighton jewelry, bags and accessories here. They have casual to glam dresses. Handmade candles, casual to glam and blingy shoes. It's definitely a store you could find a few items for you or others. They were close to closing so we didn't have a lot of time to browse around and they were quick to lock their doors at close and as soon as we left too. This store was so cute! They have so much in here, we were lost for almost an hour going through all the treasures. They have what seemed to be a bridal boutique, but for Mothers of the Bride...Not sure if they also service Bridesmaids or have actual wedding gowns, but they have every accessory you could possibly think of for that special occaision. They have loads of jewelry and purses and bags and candles and soap and trinket-type gifts, lotions and potions and sunglasses, hosiery, home decor...it was a big mish mash of stuff, but it all worked...it all was wonderful and lovely, and I even bought myself a pair of sparkly flip-flops for ten bucks! I am normally a huge proponent of shopping locally and was having a nice afternoon with my children eating at Novella's (wonderful by their way) and doing some light shopping. I highly recommend Avoiding The Clothing Cove if you have children with you. (Even if they are not running, touching anything breakable and quietly standing next to your side, we'll-behaved.) Truthfully, I recommending avoiding altogether unfortunately. The ladies here were snappy (to put it lightly) with my 5 year old. (I read reviews where I think there must be more to the story but this time there is not. It was shockingly uncalled for.) I was buying a pretty dress (completely overpriced but I'm typically a fan of supporting local, small businesses) and she tried on sunglasses and a hat. That's it. Sunglasses. And. A. Hat. Nothing breakable and was very gentle with them. She felt pretty and was posing before the lady behind the counter snapped at her to take them off if she isn't going to buy them.) I have never been treated so Un-kind in my life. I'm not sure if it is because I wasn't wearing my normally nicer clothing instead of jeans and a sweatshirt. Who knows, but you lost a repeat customer today which you may or may not care about but I think others should know how your employees truly are. The treatment nearly brought me to tears with how small it made me feel. She was well-behaved, right next to me, and I was a purchasing, respectful customer. This use to be one of favorite stores but after a trip there last week I will not return. There was adequate staff but we were initially totally ignored. When I did try on an item I asked for a matching shell, and the response was a sigh and eye roll. She did reluctantly show me a couple options but when I disliked them she was done with me. The staff use to be extremely helpful and offered several options. Not anymore. So sad when you try to buy local and are met with indifference. read more

The prices are sometimes a little high on some items, however...... the personal touch from staff, the attention to detail in helping you create your outfit is top notch. These ladies are worth the extra on every front. They are not sales people, they are stylists. Love this store! I love how everything is detailed and personal touches everywhere. The displays are decorated with everything they sell in their store. Great American pride. And what really catches my eye is that things are not typical of other stores. I recently stopped in following an early dinner in the area and found a nice top. The saleswoman was very friendly and helpful. A couple days later I tried it on and it was too large. I went to exchange it and also purchase a couple more pieces that I had my eye on the last time I was there. Unfortunately when I walked in to return it, I stood at the counter and was ignored for a short amount of time as they were talking to another customer. When I was acknowledged, the associate was very rude and didn't even seem to want to waste her time with me. When she pointed me to another register (even though I was standing at one), I just decided to return my item for a refund and not ask her to get down the other items from the higher part of the wall that I had intended on purchasing. I will spend my money elsewhere and not return to this establishment. read more

Not a very friendly place. I tried to buy a piece of jewelry and I stood at the register with money in hand for about 3 minutes while staff walked by several times and ignored me. Not even I will be right with you or I will get someone to help you. So I eventually threw my jewelry down and walked away. It is unfortunate I wasn't waited on as I was going to look for a gown. The lady that helped our party of 5 wasn't very friendly either. We were told not to pick up the dresses and put them in a pile. We had just walked in the door! Very friendly staff. I love that you don't step 3 feet into the door and some one says "Hi". That's usually followed by just one question, if you need anything I'll be right over here. Not overbearing, they let you breath. Found a prom dress at another store and the ladies (two of them) were both in hot pursuit to help me find the perfect earrings and clutch purses. Love the clothing. It goes from casual enough for a teen to formal enough for the Mother of the bride. Bought a dress from there for a wedding and they have in house alterations. You can also bring in dresses or men's clothing that haven't been purchased there to be altered. They have a bazillion accessories and I love evening clutch purses. This store has is a landmark for Milford. To be in this town for this long they must be doing something right. For a small town place they treat you like a department store. read more

My mother bought me a really nice purse from The Clothing Cove for Christmas and two weeks into the new year, the purse started to fray and the thread near the main zipper of the purse just pulled apart into a huge hole! I was very angry because it wasn't abused at all by me so I figured it was just cheap. Turns out my mom paid $30 for it and we went to the store to try to return it. They seemed skeptical and it took them awhile just to OK it saying I could get an exchange. I looked around and sadly none of the other purses were to my liking (guess my mom just picked the only good one I liked), so I gave the $30 credit back to my mom to shop there herself. Overall just disappointed in the cheap material of that purse. That's too bad, because I actually really liked it. I don't suggest purses from there unless you want cheap China made stuff. read more

I was welcomed the minute I stepped inside The Clothing Cove with an item to exchange that I had purchased at an event they were at. I wasn't going to sign up to get a rewards card as I don't live near Milford. The staff was so friendly and gracious, I decided to spend time looking around and am very glad I did . They have some very stylish clothing that I hadn't seen elsewhere and brands that I know like ( Comfy) . This store is amazing. I look at all the malls searching for a simple blue dress to wear to a wedding and nothing appealing to be found. Til I come back to Milford and figure I'd stop in for earrings and walk away with it all. I do love this store, it is current and they have a great selection of formal wear and career wear. That have other items like costume jewelry and purses and other accessories including makeup and specialty soaps. My issue is the prices. Not the clothing including the formal wear but the rest of the items. A sterling silver item that contains nickel is not a high end item but it is priced as one here. Same goes for many oddly high priced goods. Another issue is that some of the staff members are impossibly fake. Canned responses are the norm and that is what prevents me from shopping here more often. It's almost embarrassing the way some of the employees parrot the same response to all shoppers, I feel bad for them if this is a requirement. It's beneath all of us. read more

I give this store a high rating on variety of merchandise but a very low rating on the employees demeanors. They follow you around constantly and do not give you breathing room. They can be extremely rude and condescending as well. I have given it many chances and I am tired of the constant following and how " that looks amazing on you" yada yada... loosen up and let people look around without stress ladies. read more

From the minute we walked in the door we were greeted by the staff. I came in to find a dress for my daughters wedding in 8 weeks....not an easy task when you are picky and short! Karen worked with me for a couple of hours and I not only have a beautiful dress that needs no alterations, but jewelry and shoes too. Karen sure was wonderful. Great store for formal wear with an amazing and intuitive staff. I was looking for a MOG dress as I purchased one here a few years ago. The same wonderful staff person helped me find the perfect one. A friend recommended this store as somewhere I could look for my mother if the bride dress. I was pleasantly surprised at the selection of colors , styles and sizes . The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. I loved my dress , but needed to return after the quarantine deposited a few extra pounds on me . The selection of unusual items at this store is amazing, and most of the staff seemed very pleasant. However, i witnessed one of their saleswomen treat a customer in an abominably​ bad manner. The customer was simply shopping with some friends, from what I could see, and the saleswomen got in an argument with her about touching the items in the store. She told the customer that the customer was going to "get it dirty" and that the customer was going to "destroy it." I write about it here because it was so over the top and demeaning. Very bizarre. I don't know how you are supposed to shop for clothing if you don't take the items off the rack. I felt terrible for the customer, who was clearly mortified. read more
