We happened to find this shop for breakfast after jogging a few weeks ago and started to come here every weekend. A cup of black coffee and a croissant are very comforting. I have been asking for years for something other than the peanut butter and banana bagel that often sells out and then there is nothing left for me to eat that is plant based. i try to purchase something here each morning and the service each day is bad to worse. Employees snarly, sarcastic, short, angry. This morning, a female as barista, and one guy waltzing back and forth making believe he's busy, empty handed waiting as he waited for an item to heat up. We, 6-10 customer's just standing, waiting, watching the faker. Finally another guy from the back comes out, takes the order of a guy with mask around his neck, doesn't remind we indoors, close quarters, mask mandates still in effect for Hawaii. I work & remind, everyday, all day long. I'm gone from this sad establishment, lots of coffee places around here, my money where staff care about their patrons and willing to give the best professional service. read more

PROS: This place is a great place to pick up a quick coffee before shopping at the nearby boutiques and shops or before a movie! :) The store itself is small but the general architecture and space of all the south shore stores are so modern and chic, it feels nice to be in to talk for a few minutes. There isn't too much indoor seating areas there are about five double seater tables, but there is ample space outside! Because of the convenience and ambience, I really want to give this place more stars but a couple bad experiences have made me decide to give this place 2 stars. CONS: - Spoiled food: I've only bought food on four occasions, and for two of them, my food was spoiled. Once I bought an egg sandwich, tasted it- it was spoiled, I told an employee and they took the sandwiches away. Today was the day I decided to write this review because I was served a spoiled (not old, spoiled, sour, moldy in flavor & stale) piece of carrot cake, I asked them to check the rest of the cakes to see if they're spoiled too, but they didn't check and still tried to sell them spoiled. (Eww btw) I wasn't even given the option for a new pastry, or told "sorry about that/oh no etc" they just "oh" and insisted on refunding me. - Hospitality: The employees aren't as friendly. I come in to study in the evening on weekdays and I'm rarely greeted. One of the girls today was sitting on the counter while using her phone, (they're always on their phones, It doesn't look good) also, they don't really smile, doesn't feel like Hawaii in here lol. Worst customer service experience. The barista rolled her eyes and muttered things under her breath when we asked for her to fix an iced tea. She was absolutely the worst person to be representing CBTL. I wouldn't suggest going to this location and just walk the block over to Starbucks. Great customer service to Cody! I was kinda of confuse on what I got the last time and got a blend instead of an ice coffee. I asked to switch and I m so thankful that they let me because I could not drink the blend. I m pretty sure my ice coffee cost left than the blended and didn't get a refund but it was fine because I made the mistake of ordering wrong. Service is great overal, their really friendly, I really like the workers in the morning. My favorite drink here is the White Mocha ice coffee. It's amazing. They do military discounts, which is so a big pro for me. Their area is always clean, they have cute little mugs and they also sell hydro flask. I always come here because work is so close but honestly even on my off days I have to visit and get my coffee fix. read more

I love CBTL. When I moved out of my previous apartment (on Kapiolani, 2 minutes away from the CBTL!) I was so sad to leave my Kapiolani CBTL crew. I now live a 5-minute drive away from this Auahi location and I've got to say, they've been doing a good job at helping me get over my separation from the Kapiolani location. The store is nice with its large windows, and the fact that it's attached to South Shore Market (I'm a frequent visitor to Nordstrom Rack upstairs) is cool because I like the vibe here. There are a few tables inside CBTL, as well as throughout the market. You can also sit outside which I've never had any issues with finding a table out there. So before I write this review out, I must make it clear that I came back to the location after my displeasure to rectify the situation before writing this review and still left less than satisfied with the customer service. After a stellar morning surfing at Kakaako, I decided that instead of rushing home to have some breakfast before work that I would treat myself with my favorite quick morning treat : A delicious spicy chai tea latte and egg & cheese breakfast croissant. Now usually my go to on the way to work in Waikiki is stopping at Ala Moana mall Coffee Bean, last to my knowledge they were under renovations so I decided to give this Brand new place in South Shore Market a try. All it made me do was want to "stick to what I know"!!! My friend ordered the food and drinks while I waited i. the car, and when he came back we thought, "Oh we still have an hour for work let's sit at the beach park and enjoy this beautiful morning!!" So we get to Ala's Beach Park and he hands me my tea latte and I sip it, it's a bit too hot to take in but tastes pretty normal to me, ok. Then he hands me my breakfast croissant and the bottom of it is still cold (was supposed to be heated) I roll my eyes and exhale because customer service in Honolulu just seems to be dropping everywhere, my thought is "at least it's not frozen" smh. So instead I take my chia seed pudding and know "you can't really mess that up" My first bite is a little tart and I chop that up to the blueberries and strawberries being picked too early no big deal that happens sometimes...I have another bite with fruit and think well it doesn't taste completely horrible. NOOOOO I then took a spoonful of just the chia seeds with almond milk and it's spoiled!!! It took me a couple seconds before I realized and just spat it back into the cup!!! ughhhhhhhh Normally I would just chop it up as a loss but NO!! I'm tired of spending my honestly, hard earned money on poor quality! I decide, "Yes, I'm going back to express my concern instead of just accepting it and being unhappy." Now, I explain to the lady at the register how I decided this morning to try to have some extra time to enjoy my morning by stopping at coffee bean before work as a convenience for my time, and how now that time is wasted by having to come back, and how I'm doing so before just running to the internet with a bad review. So I explain about my cold croissant and ask them to reheat it, no problem. I explain about the expired chia pudding and the crossed our expiration date re-written, she informed me it is sent like that and she crossed the date to make it accurate. Welp ok, maybe they can't control the quality of the product because it's pre-packed? who knows I can understand that. But I didn't want to try another one, I just asked for my money back on that. My issue (after that extremely long recollection) is with customer service. The lady at the counter had a complete lack of sincerity in her lame ass "sorry" without so much as eye contact, Now I was not rude, loud, obnoxious, maybe I had an irritated look on my face because hell! I was irraz!!! My money and time was wasted and the later I can not get back. So much as a sincere apology and a smile would have saved me from writing this review. She even tossed my warmed croissant at the counter with her back turned to me so as to just "be done" with me. I acknowledged her "attitude" to the lady waiting on her coffee next to me and she nodded at her demeanor! So I will not be revisiting this location thanks to this horrible customer service experience not to mention that expired chia seed pudding messed my stomach up, taking me away from time at work ANNDDDD the tea latte didn't even have any chai flavor when I got back to my vehicle and finished it! It was nothing like any Ive had from Kapiolani or Ala Moana mall which is perfectly spiced and delicious and served with a warm morning welcome and GREAT customer service! Please don't deal with customers without proper customer service training because if the wrong person had went through this they would have caused a scene and given her a piece of their mind. Maybe she was having a bad day, who knows but she should had stayed home then. Hope her day got better and this review is brought to her attention :) aloha read more

Food is good. Service on Saturday 11/9/19 was JUNK. Ordered an acai bowl for my daughter and realized that has honey, so went back and ordered another one without. The cashier never told the person preparing it that I didn't want honey, and when I reminded her, she said she got it covered. I love this Coffee Bean! The baristas always know the specials and have never gotten my order wrong or given me bad attitude. Also, the store has always been extremely clean when I've gone. I love that! The only negative is sometimes they can be a little impatient with me. I'm not someone who goes into Coffee Bean and knows what she wants. I have to stare at the menu for a few. Help and smiles are always appreciated. Parking can be rough on the first floor but I always end up finding it and it's free. Who can complain? read more

My family loves going to this location because we like the atmosphere as there are a lot of places to sit outside or inside. It's clean and has a lot of space inside. The menu items are great here too. I was, however, disappointed one early evening when we went there and ordered an Acai Bowl without honey due to diet restrictions. They did let us know it would be a 15 minute wait, but they forgot about it, and when they were reminded and did make the Acai Bowl, the employee put lots of honey on it and to remedy the mistake, she scooped it out. My family member could not eat the acai bowl since the honey had already mixed with the other ingredients, but did want to wait for another one. If you manage this place, you need to tell your employees to make another one if they make a mistake since a customer could have an allergic reaction. read more

The best location of any big-chain coffee shop I've ever been to, almost entirely because of the service. FOOD/DRINK: I get the same cold brew every time, and with a splash of almond milk it is perfect. Better than Starbucks, imho. They have a large selection of fresh, cut fruit, pastries, sandwiches, salads, oatmeal, etc. SERVICE: My friend and I come here almost every morning after yoga, and over the course of a few months the baristas (Rita and Vanessa) have fully memorized our orders and sometimes even have the drink ready for us when we walk in. They are friendly in a very genuine way and are happy to accommodate any request. They also have a stamp card program, and if you fill up your card, you get a free drink. It's been awhile since I had a drink from here. I'm prefer teas to coffee and I have to say I was quite impressed with the Lychee Iced tea I ordered. It wasn't overly sweetened and tasted great. My cup was also not filled with a bunch of ice like Starbucks iced teas are. It was perfect! I also ordered a warm green tea. They had lots of different green teas but I just went for the most simplest one. Can't wait to try the other options Every Monday there's a MoJoeMonday deal posted on Facebook. I prefer Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf to Starbucks. Somehow it seems less pretentious to me. I had a really good raspberry confection here. Don't remember if it was a scone or what, but it was good. I had a decaf coffee, which was also nicely brewed. I sat outside as it was a nice, sunny day. The only thing that would have made it better was some company. I was having my car checked out nearby, and I was on my own that morning. So, the other solo patrons and I just stared at our phones, texting and emailing people miles, continents and countries away. Somebody could get rich if they could figure out a way to get people talking to each other while they are sitting in a place like this, cradling and staring at their devices. read more

I really enjoy coffee bean for their iced hazelnut coffee. This is my second time to this location and I've never had any complaints. Their service is quick and friendly. Every time I've walked in, I haven't had to wait in a long line. It's a quick place to grab a cup of coffee either before or after shopping. They do sell sandwiches or desserts and other novelty items. There are some sitting areas inside or outside the coffee shop. I'd say the only thing I'd have to complain about is the parking. They have their own parking structure that is shared amongst the other shops. I am usually able to find parking once I reach the 5th or 6th floor. Anything below is always full. If you're a hazelnut coffee lover, I'd definitely come here or to any coffee bean establishment. read more

I start work at Old Navy at 5 AM. By 7, I need coffee. Most of the morning staff already knows my order when I walk through the door. I really enjoy the candor with the baristas and they know I have certain dietary restrictions, and they make sure to let me know when a particular item might not be a good thing for me. read more

I come here pretty regularly, but this is my first time leaving a review. I have to say, their coffee is pretty great. I usually get today's roast or an iced coffee, but I have also tried the matcha ice blended green tea and that was pretty good as well. If you're looking for just a regular coffee though, this is the place to go. Some of the best I've had. However, the food isn't that great. Overall, it's really nice. GET MORE TABLES, folks. What others said was true: Good service, clean store, the usual yummy range of salads, sandwiches, pastries, and snacks. Drinks a smidge better'n Sbux's. Lots of water bottle type (Corksickle etc.) products on display. But only a few tables indoor. Outdoor tables (some with umbrella) not great for studying, more for meeting with folk over a latte, al fresco, and watching shoppers go by. I think they're too low, which hurts the neck, back, and eyes, if you're using a laptop. Plus some of them are hot, with little shelter from the sun. There are the community tables for working, a few yards away, in the South Shore Market walkway indoors. Laptop friendly and Internet provided. But still. Knock down or move some of those product displays to the side of the store, and set up more seats. Good work with the small one set up near the grocery/convenience store next door: that's the spirit! 'Cuz d'you really want us bringing our Black Forest Cake frappes and their messy drippy foams into these gorgeous local boutiques? Where such lovely, thoughtfully made, artisanal products are on display? Sticky and wet hands from our drinks handling said products, many of which are finely and carefully designed fabrics? Scary. This is a newer location, I have only stopped in this one a few times...I get the same drink almost every time I stop by any of the coffee bean and tea leaf- large hot chai tea latte dirty and sugar free. ( this location doesn't mix the sugar free powder all the way :-( and last time I asked for an extra stir and the barista just looked at me like I was being an inconvenience..) I'm going to chalk it up to my lumpy drinks here to it being new and the less than bubbly barista to the same... my hope is that it improves and that it will be like all the other ones--super delicious and super friendly !! read more
