A new mom here.. so while I'm on leave, I'm checking out coffee shops just to get out of the house. First, they do have a parking lot, but if it's packed, there is street parking.. I would have hoped there was more space for cars! They have an upstairs area too, but I couldn't check it out since I had a stroller. The first floor had plenty of seating. I found a table for 3 easily downstairs and there was space for the stroller. The place is big, but not overly loud. Plenty of people come and work here or have meetings. I've been meaning to try Coffee House for a while! Parking is questionable since it's always packed, and the space is tight, but granted, this is downtown Houston. My drink was alright, and didn't stand out from any other coffee shops I've tried (it was the West End latte). What was unique about the drink was its alcohol content, but fortunately, it wasn't a prominent taste; nonetheless, it felt a bit gimmicky and didn't add much. One thing I GOTTA rave about is that this is a four-story coffee shop, with a patio with a gorgeous view at the very top! You don't see that often in Houston. My friend and I still struggled to find seating... but honestly, Coffee House's use of space makes up for it. Service is friendly and helpful. The space is inviting. There are many levels to nest... check out all the areas. Drink and pastry was delicious. Parking can be tricky on a Sunday Morning. Housed in a renovated historic red brick building, this coffee shop preserved much of the historical charm while adding modern touches. The place looks amazing...no doubt about that. The vibe, the design, the energy... it all hits. But it's also packed. And I get it: when a spot is always crowded, it usually means the coffee is great and the pastries are something special. That said, the nonstop crowd makes the experience a little less enjoyable. It crosses from "wow, this place is popping" to "okay... this is kind of inconvenient." To be fair, I didn't stay long enough to really settle in or enjoy the menu, so I can't speak on the flavors firsthand. I ended up heading out instead. Serious business when entering The Coffee House at West End. Arrived on a Saturday afternoon and it was busy on both first and second floor, I didn't get to go to the rooftop, it was too hot for all that. Ambiance: 4/5 When I think coffee shop, I think warm and laid back and an escape from the rush of work, but a lot of shops are gearing more towards the industrial and cold work spaces, because coffee shops are where everyone runs to continue work, such is the case here. Parking is a mix of decent sized parking lot and street. Once inside very modern and minimalistic. Service: 5/5 Cashier was friendly and provided insight on the questions that I had. Which is a special blend of their own syrup. I was grateful that she asked if I wanted regular milk or alternative. I sometimes forget because I get excited and end up getting regular milk. Food: 5/5 West End Latte was a smooth, sweet, similar to a toasted marshmallow, but not as sweet. Along with the latte, I ordered an almond croissant. It was nice and buttery, flaky and baked just right. My friend enjoyed the place and returned at again after this visit. This was my first time visiting the Coffee House at West End, and I really enjoyed it! The space is large with three stories and plenty of seating. I come on a Friday around 10:30 AM, and while many seats were already taken, I had no problem sharing a large communal table. It's definitely a great spot to get work done as I was productive. This spot gets 5 stars for great vibes and study environment! I will say that it was a little chilly, so I'd recommend bringing a jacket just in case. I ordered an iced chai, which was very smooth. At $4.50 for a 12 ounce, it was more affordable compared to the $5+ I'm used to paying. There's plenty of lot parking available. I will most definitely be coming back! read more

I came here on a Saturday morning around 10:45-11:00. Wait time in line was about 15mins with it moving fairly quick. I ordered the west end latte that is made with the in house syrup. The overall taste profile of the drink was pretty average and the price was much cheaper than other spots. It is a pretty big area but get here early if you expect to find a seat on Saturday since they are closed on Sundays. It seemed like a pretty good spot to get some work done or just relax but still get there early unless you go during a weekday. read more

Whether you're working solo or catching up with a friend, the ambiance fits the vibe. The coffee is always consistent, and they offer a nice variety of pastries if you need a bite. The staff is friendly and genuinely understanding and helpful. One heads-up: the AC runs pretty cold, so if you're planning to stay awhile, I'd recommend bringing a light jacket. This place is the *perfect* coffeeshop and has everything I wish for. Housed in an old industrial building, there's plenty of space and variety of seating options in the three floors of space. I needed to take a call so I went up to the third floor which is like an event space so it wouldn't be as noisy. In the main area, they were playing chill jazz like Billie Holiday and there was just a buzzing atmosphere that inspired work. I got a sesame latte which was reasonably priced and quite tasty. I came to The Coffee House at West End to meet a friend. This is her favorite place to catch up with work. My first impression of this place was "OMG there's no parking!!!!!" The lot was completely filled. All I saw was West End church from the parking lot entrance. OMG who go to church in a Thursday morning?????? I ended up parked on the street. This coffee house is huge. 2 stories plus rooftop seating. That day was too cold for me to explore outside. Inside was cozy and quaint. I enjoyed my cup of tea with oatmilk. It is easy to see why this place made the list as one of the best coffee shops in Houston due to its sheer size and architecture. During my visit, they also had a small market in the courtyard next to the church, but they mainly offered clothing so I didnt go out there. You enter the coffee shop in the rear, restrooms are fancy and there's plenty of seating. One of the highlights are the roofrop couches and views of the neighbors yards and of course downtown Houston. The specialty coffee or latte section isn't that large with just 1 specialty concoction, which is the West End Latte that's made with their homemade West End syrup. Its a well balanced mix of coconut, chocolate and caramel so they say; although, I mainly tasted chocolate. If you come for their food selection, their croissants and some other desserts are huge, and also come with a huge price tag. I also saw that they sell sinful bars as well. I just stuck with a plain croissant and found it to be satisfying. No matter whether you choose to sit on the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd floor or the rooftop, there are just a ton of spots to sit down, which is always a plus for a busy coffee shop. I didn't have any issues with crowds or finding parking like other yelpers indicated, but them again, I could have gotten lucky. read more

This coffee spot takes my number 1 place in Houston (so far). Ample free parking, extensive seating and a great menu. I love the addition of a rooftop patio- will check that out once this Texas heat subsides. The biggest plus here is that the music is not played too loud so I didn't feel distracted while studying. The bathrooms were also very clean and the cashiers were nice. Their Strawberry Fields Matcha was sooooo good! The coffee shop is really big but we went Saturday afternoon and it was packed. Too full we couldn't find a spot to park or sit inside. We had to jump to get a seat when people were leaving. With so many new coffee shops in Houston it's hard to know where to check out. I stopped by here because I saw their unique seasonal menus and was not disappointed! We tried the sweet evergreen latte and the dirty snowflake. I liked the dirty snowflake more. It was sweeter and the coconut flavor was tasty. The sweet evergreen latte was also good, less sweet and the hint of rosemary offered a unique spin on coffee. We visited on a Saturday 5pm (they close at 6pm) and it was packed! There was no open seating despite their three floors of seating options. Luckily we had made the decision come here as a quick stop before dinner. There was also a line to order and drinks took about 10 minutes to come. There is a decently sized parking lot that is shared with the actual West End Church. Great coffee and vibe!! This cafe is part of West End Church next door although it is for all people regardless of background. The community and staff here are always friendly and inviting. There's plenty of seating too. There's 2 indoor floors and a rooftop. The cafe has a rustic but modern touch to it. There's books everywhere on the second floor as well and few outlets. The coffee here is great. Their west end syrup is pretty sweet and delicious! Since it's next to the church, parking can be difficult sometimes, either in their direct attached lot or the lot across the church but there is also street parking. Despite their location in The Heights (#1), The Coffee House at West End has become one of my favorite places to enjoy some virtual work time with a caffeinated beverage. It has also served as a wonderful meeting spot with the occasional people wathcing, fabulous WiFi, and enough space to where nothing feels uncomfortable or stuffy. The building itself is historically significant, where it was built by the West End (Baptist) Church and utilized as a Sunday school for decades. Eventually it fell into ruins before finally being revitalized in the last decade. The coffee portion is only of the last few years, making this one of the city's most popular destinations for community, coffee, and solo work / study sessions. They've done such a great job with the space where it's like a lounge but also a versatile venue that could host a number of events. I especially love the third floor quiet area because it feels like a world away from everything else. The bathrooms are clean and the vibe is pleasant all around. As for the coffee, it's very well priced and very good. Mos items are $5 and under, with the exception of the Big Tex Latte ($6). The chai ($5 for large) and the west end late is ($5.50) is quite tasty with a bit of sweetness. I have been all about their cold brew ($5), drip coffee, and especially their iced matcha. For the most part, the service is polite and generally good about getting drinks out quickly. I wouldn't come here with a group of folks due to potential seating challenges. The building has multiple floors with different resources if needed, space or a place to sit will not be the issue! They offer complementary wifi which is also great is you're here to catch up on work. The baristas were nice and we ordered a signature drink and a summer drink, the unfortunate part was had they not labeled them we never would've noticed which was which as they tasted nearly identical and really lacked the unique flavors, we were really forward to trying that signature syrup. I love this place spent every week day here for 4 months, the staff is amazing and kind! It's absolutely huge and equipped with an abundance of seating and outlets. I Love their seasonal menu and the bakery items are super yummy. This establishment knows what they are doing, they are not strict meaning you aren't required to buy something or limited on how long you can stay however please do not abuse this, their prices are affordable so there should be no excuse not to grab a snack or small drink. I appreciate that they had multiple floors with lots of comfy seating, and each with a different vibe depending on how serious you want to get your work done. I came 2 hours before closing, and there were still a good amount of people here. Luckily, I was able to snag a booth with my 2 other friends on the first floor, since we did want to chat a little while getting stuff done. I opted for a butterly herbal tea with lemonade, and it came out to only $3.50! The drink was also very pretty, and tasted perfect -- not too sweet, and I could definitely taste the herbal tea along with the lemonade. My friend ordered a latte, and I thought that the color of the latte was perfect! I tried a sip, and it was delicious, but because he got the sugar-free syrup, it did have that slight sugar-free taste that I don't normally opt for.
