The hamburger poboys were among the best we've ever had, slightly charred on the outside and done, but juicy on the inside. We will definitely eat here again!!

Joseph Emory Davis, patriarchal brother to Confederate Pres Jefferson Davis, the owner of Hurricane Plantation in Warren County, Jefferson Davis made his final speech from Anchuca's front balcony, near the Vicksburg Battlefield. We got here early and parked in the small parking lot. We wandered around all of the beautiful rooms from the period. We were seated in the library. Brunch entrées included a small salad or fruit cup, and a dessert. We enjoyed our salads with balsamic dressing. For an entrée, I chose seafood, gumbo, and my husband, the shrimp and grits. The cheesy, creamy grits with the best I ever tasted, and my husband doesn't like shrimp, but he devoured them. We're trying both desserts, the warm peach cobbler alamode and the white chocolate bread pudding were obscene. Our meal was delicious, service, impeccable, and the setting spectacular.

Approximately a mile from the Vicksburg battlefield, the house sits high on a hill that would have had direct line of vision to the Mississippi River during the war. The house still bears the scars of battle shrapnel but was ultimately spared. The buildings are an impressive representation of Southern living for the well to do in the late 1800s. The upper porch served as the location for Jefferson Davis last public speech after the war. The restaurant serves a nice breakfast to boarders and a more elegant option for dinner with a full menu. Pleasant service in a cozy dining area makes for a great experience in this historic home. P.S. Note that both the dining area and all of the in rooms are not handicapped accessible and require the ability to claim stairs.

The store, bathroom and restaurant were clean and inviting. The service was fast and caring, and the food was marginal at best. We ordered a chicken friend steak with french fries and fried okra, and the meatloaf with Mac n'cheese and mashed potatoes. We also ordered an Arnold Palmer and a Strawberry Margarita. The mac cheese and the okra were eatible. The meatloaf smelled bad, most of the French fries were raw, the mashed potatoes had crusty gravy and the fried steak was half the portion. The worst of it all was the Strawberry Margarita, which I took 2 sips of and told the waitress it was horrible. It looked like 4 ounces of radioactive red syrupee liquid with a taste of artificial red 40 and a hint of licor. The waitress took the drink with her and a few minutes later came back and said that her manager said that "it had to remain in the bill", no reason was given and no offer to "make it better" either. We ate what was eatible and left half of the food on our plates, paid $39.00 and left. With the management the rating will remain at 2 stars or go down to 1.

I had a butterscotch, roasted pecan, double malted malt, and it was fantastic. The ice cream is very good quality and that plays a great part in the overall flavor. Few places make actual malts these days, but this place does and they are good at it too. The young man that served me could have played the low talker on an episode of Seinfeld, as I had to lean all the way across the counter to hear what he was saying, and I get that some people are just very shy; but other than that I really enjoyed the ice cream. Will definitely be going back even though it means traveling from Madison to get it.

Sit at the bar, at a table, or even gather with friends on a couch. If I lived nearby, this would likely become my second office, as I am a huge fan of working in a coffee shop. The staff were super friendly and made specialty drinks that the kids loved. I got a cold brew in a can from a nearby roaster that was great. I had never had straight cold brew in a can, but this is a concept I can get behind. Most cold brew in a can is some fru fru sweet nonsense or some Monster clone. I like my coffee ice cold and by itself. The can provided that, but it was also easy to store and drink. More canned cold brew, please! If you are in Vicksburg, stop here. You will not be disappointed.

I love love love everything about this place !!!!! Walk inside its like your not even in Vicksburg anymore !!!! It's like the tv show Cheers !!!! Everybody knows your name lol or if not they know "your usual" !!!!! EVERYONE I have ever done business with there has gone above and beyond to make me feel way more than welcome and appreciated. They even donated money to my family while I was planning my nieces funeral Yet they have no idea who I am other than a loyal customer....well after going there daily for a very long time they knew I worked close by and a couple even brought their business to me !!!!! Did I mention it's 100 x's better than Starbucks !!!! Yet not quite as pricey !!!! The atmosphere is absolutely amazing !!!! Right down to the furniture and the lighting when you walk in there it's the next best thing to having coffee in your own house !!!! I could go on and on about how wonderful it is !!!! Don't believe me?!? Y'all go see for yourself !!!!! I promise you will never be disappointed!!!!! Please go see for sure for yourself!!! Then come back and do your own review!!!! read more

I did not pack it with me so I have been going without it. I can definitely feel a difference with the energy level and it just feels good especially with the amount of deep fried food I have been eating while in Vicksburg. My only wish is that there was a seating/communal area but given the location and such, it makes sense that they do not. Glad to have this gem so close to the office!
