Worst breakfast ever. Eggs had no flavor. Bacon was so over cooked that it broke apart and tasted like nothing. Ham tasted sour and was barely cooked. Homefries were delicious at least. read more

Incredibly friendly people working there at 1pm on a Wednesday. I was literally the only person there as I walked in. One of the best short order cooks I've seen in a long time, I was eating within 7 minutes and got to see the entire prep (absolutely no concerns about quality). We just got take out this weekend and loved every bite! I had a breakfast sandwich on a bagel that was toasty and delicious. My fiancé had the grits with eggs and bacon. Everything together was only about $12. Best deal around! Cheaper than gross Dunkins... can't wait to go sit down and have another meal there! read more

Stopped here on our way home from a road trip and could t be happier. Amazingly friendly and attentive staff took care to make sure our family and young kids were fed fast and stocked with napkins. The food was excellent - the strawberry banana pancake special was a big hit. We got a couple coffees for the road as we liked it so much. Definitely worth checking out. read more

We've been to The Coffee Mug three times and we'll keep going back. All the food is good. I've tried their omelettes, their eggs and homefries and their french toast and each dish was great tasting and well sized. The staff is friendly. I wouldn't go there with a large group of people - we tried that once and we took up half the restaurant. It's fairly small. If you're just going with your significant other or family, it's a great way to spend a weekend morning. Sundays tend to be busy but the service is fast and there are usually at least a few spaces open at the bar. read more

We stopped here for breakfast on our way to New York City. Food was average, except The cinnamon roll. It was delicious because it was not as sweet as a typical cinnamon roll. Had breakfast here on a Sunday, early. We needed a place for a quick bite, and arrived about 7:30 AM. It was quiet and we sat at the counter. Had a western omelet sandwich on pumpernickel and dining partner had a ham and cheese omelett with home fries. The food was great, hot and quick. The waitress said that if we had arrived later, when church gets out, it is a half hour wait on Sunday morning. There were more creative things available on the menu - lots of interesting omelet combinations especially. I definitely plan to go back and try them! It is worth a stop. read more

Was in the Auburn, MA area today on business and found this little gem of a place for breakfast. I travel all over this great country and have an opportunity to sample some of the best meals in some of the finest restaurants in the land. The breakfast I had today at The Coffee Mug was one of the best I've ever had. ( Eggs Benedict with two pieces of French Toast ). Just by looking at the steaming hot food delivered by my waitress I could tell it was going to be delicious. Can't wait to come back the next time I'm in the area and try their pancakes! If any of the stars of the Food Channel are looking for the next great restaurant to shoot their show I would strongly suggest they start here. read more

My husband ate breakfast here recently. He poured ketchup on his home fries but realized after he tasted the potatoes that the ketchup was spoiled. When his waitress came to collect his finished plate she asked why he didn't eat the fries. He told her and she took a small taste from the ketchup with a spoon. The waitress concurred with him. Another waitress approached them to see what was up. They told her and she too tasted the ketchup. All 3 thought the ketchup tasted off. Spoiled ketchup gets slightly fermented. Next the owner approached to see what t he three were discussing. My husband explained he believed the ketchup had spoiled. She immediately said that was impossdible and that the ketchup was refrigerated daily. She then walked away. No offer to give him new home fries. No apologies. No offer to change the bill. In this case the customer was wrong. Bad ketchup left on table for another cus timer to eat. My husband paid his bill and walked out. Horrible behavior from the owner. He will not be back. read more

I've been working right near the Coffee Mug for about 4 years now, yet I hadn't tried this place until about 6 months ago. Sine then, I've been going several times a week. No matter how busy the place is, the owner/cook (Effie) always turns around to greet the entering customers with a smile. The restaurant is immaculate; I've been working in restaurants for a while now, and I've never seen such a clean kitchen, all the equipment still looks new! The food is American comfort/diner food, but she puts her Albanian spin on some of the dishes, or comes up with some interesting takes on the classics. (Try the Blackstone Benedict with tomatoes, spinach, and bacon instead of the classic ham). I've also gone for lunch a few times, especially on Thursdays when she roasts a whole turkey and makes all the classic sides. All the food here is delicious, fresh, and homemade; well worth checking out if you haven't yet. read more

Every time I go I get a special, my favorite so far has been the Banana Nut French Toast. But the restaurant is simple with a nice amount of seating. Nice laminated menus that are aren't humongously large but with plenty of options. It is sort of cold inside but it's probably so it doesn't become boiling hot because of the stove, the waitress was sort of slow but there was only one so its totally fine. The food comes out fast which is appreciated, and you seat yourselves which I didn't know and stood there like an idiot the first time but the food was worth it. read more

My husband and I come here for breakfast quite often. I absolutely love the Blackstone Benedict. It's eggs Bennie without the ham, but with a big slice of tomato and pile of fresh spinach under the perfectly poached egg. We've always received great service and the prices are some of the best I've seen. Excellent value for quality of food. $5.75 for bacon and eggs, 7.25 for three different or traditional eggs Benedict. The owner is usually behind the counter and finds her way around periodically to assess your eating experience. She's very appreciative of her clients, and it shows. read more

One of the things I missed most about moving from CT was not having a diner on every corner. Thank goodness I live right near the Coffee Mug! My wife and I love this place for a Sunday breakfast. It's a bit small but the food and service make it all worth it. The coffee is always fresh and for around $15 the two of us get huge plates of eggs, home fries, sausage and toast. Place was absolutely freezing! We couldn't take our jackets or hats off! We each had a coffee,I had pancakes & a side of bacon, my gf had an omelet. It was delivered very quickly, thank god since we were starting to lose consciousness since it was so cold. Food was cold when it arrived, go figure! Butter wouldn't melt or spread. Waitress returned once with bill & that was it. Never asked how the food was or if we wanted another coffee. We will NEVER go back! Oh and it was $19 for a disgusting breakfast! Ok I just went here today with my 2 sons ages 16 and 7 and upon walking into the place there was nobody to seat us..we had to wait for our own table and then go sit at it after the other people left with dirty dishes and all in front of us. I had to tell the bus man 2 times that they were not my dishes and was waiting for the table to get cleared off so I could order. He took a couple of plates and came back for the rest after about 5 minutes. 5 minutes after that a second woman came and wiped down the table again and left. It took roughly another 15 minutes to get our order in. Other people across from us got there same time as we did and had their table cleaned off and meals served well before us and were eating while we were still waiting for our food. It took about 40 minutes to get our breakfast and had to take it to go as we needed to be somewhere. The floor was rather dirty and there was a child eating nearby throwing pieces of his food everywhere..parents seemed to not care. I really do not understand about all the rave reviews as when I read them I thought I was going to a goldmine of a place. Menus on table were extremely dirty and when I used the restroom the door seemed like it needed immediate replacing. I was very disappointed and will not return! read more
