Great spot for breakfast. My son and I have been doing all of the Worcester area diners and breakfast spots for the past 3 weeks. We visited here on Wednesday, July8th and had a fantastic breakfast. I have to say that the way we were greeted set the tone for an awesome experience. Both women in the dining car were genuinely friendly and welcoming. I had the veggie omelet and instead of toast and potatoes I had a single blueberry pancake. Best pancake I've had anyplace for a very long time. The omelet was well made and perfectly seasoned with a perfect amount of cheese. My son had the meat lovers omelet and he too loved his meal. Great spot, given it a try. read more

This isn't my first time at Dinky's, and each visit has been a consistently good experience. The staff is always friendly, the fruit on the waffles is fresh and vibrant and the bathroom is clean (huge plus) there was no napkins in the machine only a hand dryer which my daughter dislikes loud noises so we left it with wet hands. The soap is also like a regular dial soap pump bottle which is decent but, could be updated to a touch less soap dispenser to be more sanitary , That said, I've had better waffles elsewhere, and I'm not a fan of the syrup -- it tastes a bit watered down and could use more sweetness. I ordered a hot chocolate and an apple juice. The hot chocolate was rich and had a great consistency -- definitely a highlight. The apple juice, however, was served warm, and I personally would have preferred it cold. Overall, Dinky's is a solid spot with a welcoming vibe. Cute little spot - I never even knew it was there! CASH ONLY - they do have an ATM on site. The kids enjoyed their massive pancake and waffles. I had the heart attack breakfast - it was good and definitely massive but I was very disappointed to find hash from a can. Why do diners do this? Seriously I won't go back just because of that. The coffee was very good. I had a combination breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs, 2 slices of French toast, crispy home fries, crispy bacon. The bacon was not even close to crispy. The home fries were over salted and heavily seasoned. The French toast looked as though the cook brushed egg on the faces and the inside was plain white bread and was undercooked. The scrambled eggs were eggs beaten and spread on the griddle. They were not fluffy. Just thin and flat. Service was adequate- my coffee cup was always full. Unfortunately, she never checked in with me to ask how everything was. I would have discretely provided feedback. She looked like she has lost her love for her job. Never going back. read more

An update... I had several bad experiences here a few years ago, but had a much better one on a recent revisit. Sat at the counter with a friend- greeted promptly and warmly by the waitress on duty, who brought coffee and kept it refilled. I had the "Shooky Doo", I think it was called- an English muffin with sausage patties, perfectly poached eggs, and American cheese sagging gently on top. Exactly what I wanted it to be. (I'd have preferred hollandaise, but we go with what's offered.) My friend enjoyed his scrambled eggs and home fries. Potatoes were well seasoned and thoroughly cooked (I hate hard potatoes!) Left feeling full and happy. Nothing extraordinary here, but comforting, predictable, tasty food served by a friendly waitress. That's a decent beginning to any day. This was my first time here. The menu is extensive and I like the wide variety. I got the banana walnut waffle, which tasted great. Upon further inspection, there were pieces of BLACK PLASTIC embedded in the bottom part of the waffle. I had already eaten more than half of it at this point. I stopped in here the other day for the first time, and it really struck me as overpriced. I had 2 pieces of french toast..nothing extra, and a black coffee and it was $9 + tip. On top of that they are cash only. Their breakfast specials are about $12.52+ tax and tip. So think $16 for a breakfast plate. OMG!! We came around 10:30 a.m. last Saturday. We were immediately seated in a comfortable booth. The restaurant was one third full. Thus, the service was even more efficient and friendly. The layout of the menu featuring the same items was changed. We noticed prices went up. For example, there was a 10% price increase on the bagel made with two eggs and cheese. Housed in an old train car with overflow seating in a non-train car area it is just what you're looking for in a diner. Even though it's only been in business since 1992, it seems much older than that without the over the top/tacky/faux-old decor found in some chain diners. The selection is extensive with eggs, french toast, pancakes, waffles, omelets, and even Kielbasa available. Everything we had was very good, as was the service. Loved Dinky's!!!! Our brother in law wanted us to try this place while we were visiting. We wanted to go to a mom and pop place and Dinky's is just that. The service is as if they were your family. Typical Central Mass diner. If you like big, greasy breakfasts, this will do just fine. They have a pretty standard diner menu. Prices are a bit higher than in Worcester, but that's not super surprising for Shrewsbury. They do have an old diner car, but the restaurant has expanded and has more seating in a newer addition that doesn't have as much character. No major complaints, but Dinky's also doesn't stand out from the pack. read more

I had a wonderful experience here! My waitress was so helpful and friendly. Actually... everyone in the whole place was. I ordered the Reese's pieces pancake with bananas on top and a coffee. It was by far the biggest pancake I have ever been served, and one of the tastiest. The food is good but there's one waitress that adds the bills up wrong or will keep your change as the tip without you even asking and then if you confront her she tells you she's too busy to help you. Me personally we paid a  $51 bill we paid with 4 $20s she kept all the change as her tip without even asking us or bringing our change back. Super cute little diner. They don't have many of these in LA, so I'm glad I took my nephew here over IHOP. They have pancakes of all varieties, as well as French toast and waffles! The menu is very diverse and large. The food tastes great, portions are perfect, and comes out in a reasonable time. Definitely tastes homemade, which is great. With the fall, they have pumpkin pancakes which I had to try. I love anything pumpkin! The customer service is warm too. I recommend! read more

We wanted to love this place since it was our first time going and we live near by but unfortunately we didn't. The service was horrible. The waitress (an older lady) was rude. When I asked for my food the lady told me I didn't want what I asked for because I only wanted cheese on my omelette! I had to repeat my self that that's how I wanted my eggs, only cheese. Then when we asked for oatmeal she said we didn't want that either because it's packaged oatmeal. I just couldn't understand what was her problem. She seemed mad from the moment we got there. She never said good morning or gave us a chance to properly ask for our drinks when we arrived and had to do two trips just to get coffee and juice simply because she walked away from us before we told her what we wanted. The food itself was ok. I know we should have walked out after that "welcoming" experience but we were hungry and didn't want to drive to a different place.
